Search

We study a set of many-body wave-functions of Fermions that are naturally written using momentum space basis and allow for quantum superposition of Fermion occupancy, $\{n_{\bf k}\}$. This {enables} us to capture the fluctuations of the Fermi-surface {(FS)} -- the singularly most important signature of a metal. We bench-mark our results in one spatial dimensions (1D) to show that these wave-functions allow for quantitative understanding of the Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid (TLL); computations of certain correlators using them can in fact be extended to larger systems sizes compared to conventional exact diagonalization (ED) allowing for a more systematic comparison with bosonization techniques. Finally we show that this basis may be useful for obtaining fixed-point wave-function for strongly correlated metals {in dimensions greater that one}. In particular, we study the case of coherent (equal) superposition of elliptical FS {in continuum (2D) and on a} square lattice{. In case of the former, our variational wave-function systematically interpolates between the phenomenology of the Fermi liquid ground state, i.e., finite single-Fermion residue at a sharp FS, to a non-Fermi liquid (NFL) with zero residue. In the NFL the jump in $\langle n_{\bf k}\rangle$ at the FS is replaced by a point of inflection (similar to a 1D TLL) whose contour is consistent with the Luttinger Theorem. In case of the square lattice, we} find highly anisotropic distribution of the quasi-particle residue, which, at finite resolution has an uncanny resemblance to the Fermi-arcs{, albeit at zero temperature,} seen in the pseudo-gap state of the cuprates.

Periodically driven closed quantum systems are expected to eventually heat up to infinite temperature reaching a steady state described by a circular orthogonal ensemble (COE). However, such finite driven systems may exhibit sufficiently long prethermal regimes; their properties in these regimes are qualitatively different from that in their infinite temperature steady states. These, often experimentally relevant, prethermal regimes host a wide range of phenomena; they may exhibit dynamical localization and freezing, host Floquet scars, display signatures of Hilbert space fragmentation, and exhibit time crystalline phases. Such phenomena are often accompanied by emergent approximate dynamical symmetries which have no analogue in equilibrium systems. In this review, we provide a pedagogical introduction to the origin and nature of these symmetries and discuss their role in shaping the prethermal phases of a class of periodically driven closed quantum systems., Comment: Invited review article to be submitted to JPCM

We demonstrate the existence of exact Floquet flat bands implying strong violation of the eigenstate thermalization hypothesis in a large class of closed quantum many-body systems in the presence of a two-rate drive characterized by frequencies $\Omega_1$ and $\Omega_2=\nu \Omega_1$. We provide the exact analytic condition for this phenomenon to occur for a generic protocol; in particular, $\nu=(2p+1)$, where $p$ is an integer, leads to such flat bands for both square-pulse and cosine drive protocols for arbitrary $\Omega_1$. In the vicinity of these points, heating is suppressed up to very long timescales in such driven systems, leading to a prethermal regime; we demonstrate this by exact numerical studies of distribution and bandwidth of the Floquet eigenstates, spectral form factor, entanglement entropy, and correlation functions of an experimentally realizable finite driven Rydberg chain. The corresponding micromotion exhibits coherent reversal of excitations reminiscent of echoes. We study the possible signatures of prethermal strong Hilbert space fragmentation (HSF) for one-dimensional (1D) fermions subjected to a periodic drive. We extend the results of Phys. Rev. Lett. 130, 120401 (2023) to show the possibility of such fragmentation for a large class of experimentally relevant drive protocols. Moreover, we demonstrate the persistence of HSF when the fermion chain is taken away from half-filling. Both these analysis indicate the robustness of the fragmentation phenomenon reported earlier. We also provide an alternate derivation of the Floquet Hamiltonian of the driven chain which yields insight into the generic nested commutator structure of its higher order terms. Finally, we study the density-density out-of-time-correlators (OTOC) of the driven chain both away and near the special drive frequencies at which its first order Floquet Hamiltonian exhibits fragmentation. We show that these OTOCs, for a chain with open boundary condition, exhibit a distinct periodic unscrambling of information at special drive frequencies; such unscrambling can therefore serve as a marker of prethermal HSF. We provide an approximate analytic explanation of the role of HSF behind such periodic unscrambling and discuss experiments which can detect signatures of strong HSF in such driven chains., Comment: 15 pages, 9 figures

We show, via explicit computation on a constrained bosonic model, that the presence of subsystem symmetries can lead to a quantum phase transition (QPT) where the critical point exhibits an emergent enhanced symmetry. Such a transition separates a unique gapped ground state from a gapless one; the latter phase exhibits a broken $Z_2$ symmetry which we tie to the presence of the subsystem symmetries in the model. The intermediate critical point separating these phases exhibits an additional emergent $Z_2$ symmetry which we identify; this emergence leads to a critical theory in the Ashkin-Teller, instead of the expected Ising, universality class. We show that the transitions of the model reproduces the Askhin-Teller critical line with variable correlation length exponent $\nu$ but constant central charge $c$. We verify this scenario via explicit exact-diagonalization computations, provide an effective Landau-Ginzburg theory for such a transition, and discuss the connection of our model to the PXP model describing Rydberg atom arrays., Comment: v3: expanded version: submitted to Scipost Phys

In an atom-photon interacting system described by Tavis Cummings Hubbard (TCH) model, we demonstrate the emergence of a quasi-steady state in a dissipative environment that exhibits intriguing ergodic behavior. The TCH model undergoes a dissipative transition from normal to superradiant phase hosting a gapped Higgs and gapless Goldstone modes. However, in a large region of the phase diagram, the instability of the Goldstone mode leads to the disappearance of the stable superradiant phase. In this regime, the decorrelator dynamics reveals light cone spreading of the perturbations and positive Lyapunov exponent, indicating enhanced fluctuations. Remarkably, a quasi-steady state emerges under quench dynamics in this unstable regime; in this state, a class of collective quantities such as site averaged photon number and atomic excitations approach a steady value, in spite of large temporal fluctuations in corresponding microscopic variables. This quasi-steady state describes an incoherent fluid of photons with significant phase fluctuation. The phase space dynamics reveals a fascinating ergodic behavior in presence of dissipation, leading to the characterization of the dynamical variables into two distinct classes. The first class includes site-averaged photon numbers and atomic excitations; these exhibit a stationary distribution regardless of the initial condition indicating ergodic behavior. The second class of variables, particularly those related to phase in contrast, retain information about the initial conditions, resulting in a violation of ergodicity for finite size system. Additionally, the dynamical variables of the ergodic class exhibit fascinating collective scarring phenomenon as the peak of their distribution is attracted towards the unstable steady state, analogous to the single particle quantum scar. We discuss the relevance of our findings in the current experiments.

We study entanglement transitions in a periodically driven Ising chain in the presence of an imaginary transverse field $\gamma$ as a function of drive frequency $\omega_D$. In the high drive amplitude and frequency regime, we find a critical value $\gamma=\gamma_c$ below which the steady state half-chain entanglement entropy, $S_{L/2}$, scales with chain length $L$ as $S_{L/2} \sim \ln L$; in contrast, for $\gamma>\gamma_c$, it becomes independent of $L$. In the small $\gamma$ limit, we compute the coefficient, $\alpha$, of the $\ln L$ term analytically using a Floquet perturbation theory and trace its origin to the presence of Fisher-Hartwig jump singularities in the correlation function of the driven chain. We also study the frequency dependence of $\gamma_c$ and show that $\gamma_c \to 0$ at special drive frequencies; at these frequencies, which we analytically compute, $S_{L/2}$ remain independent of $L$ for all $\gamma$. This behavior can be traced to an approximate emergent symmetry of the Floquet Hamiltonian at these drive frequencies which we identify. Finally, we discus the behavior of the driven system at low and intermediate drive frequencies. Our analysis shows the presence of volume law behavior of the entanglement in this regime $S_{\ell} \sim \ell$ for small subsystem length $\ell \le \ell^{\ast}(\omega_D)$. We identify $\ell^{\ast}(\omega_D)$ and tie its existence to the effective long-range nature of the Floquet Hamiltonian of the driven chain for small subsystem size. We show that constraints imposed by strong Hilbert space fragmentation (HSF) along with the presence of certain global symmetries can ensure the reality of eigenspectra of non-Hermitian quantum systems; such a reality cannot be guaranteed by global symmetries alone. We demonstrate this insight for two interacting finite chains, namely the fermionic Nelson-Hatano and the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger models, none of which has a $\mathcal{PT}$ symmetry. We show analytically that strong HSF and real spectrum are both consequences of the same dynamical constraints in the limit of large interaction, provided the systems have sufficient global symmetries. We also show that a local equal-time correlation function can detect the many-body exceptional point at a finite critical interaction strength above which the eigenspectrum is real., Comment: v3; minor corrections; all conclusions remain same

We study the quench and the ramp dynamics of interacting $N$-component charged bosons with dipole symmetry using Schwinger-Keldysh field theory in the large $N$ limit. The equilibrium phase diagram of these bosons shows two phases in the large $N$ limit. The first is a normal phase where both the global $U(N)$ and the dipole symmetries are conserved and the second is a delocalized condensed phase where both the symmetries are broken. In contrast, our explicit computation of the steady state after an instantaneous quantum quench from the condensed phase shows that an additional, novel, delocalized normal phase, where the global $U(N)$ symmetry is conserved but the dipole symmetry is broken, can exist for a range of quench parameters. We study the prethermal Floquet phases of a two-dimensional (2D) Rydberg atom array on a rectangular lattice in the presence of a periodic drive with large drive amplitude. We derive an analytic, albeit perturbative, Floquet Hamiltonian using Floquet perturbation theory (FPT) which charts out these phases and shows that the transition between them can be accessed by tuning the drive frequency. Using both numerical exact diagonalization on finite-size arrays and analytical first-order Floquet Hamiltonian derived using FPT, we show that these prethermal Floquet phases and the transitions between them can be detected by studying the dynamics of equal-time density-density correlation functions of the Rydberg atoms. Our analysis thus provides a simple way of detecting these phases and associated transitions in this system; such a detection can be achieved in standard experiments which we discuss., Comment: v1: 9 pages, 6 Figs

We show that a dynamical transition from a non-heating to a heating phase of a periodic $SL(2,\mathbb{R})$ driven two-dimensional conformal field theory (CFT) with a large central charge is perceived as a first order transition by a bulk brane embedded in the dual AdS. We construct the dual bulk metric corresponding to a driven CFT for both the heating and the non-heating phases. These metrics are different AdS$_{2}$ slices of the pure AdS$_{3}$ metric. We embed a brane in the obtained dual AdS space and provide an explicit computation of its free energy both in the probe limit and for an end-of-world (EOW) brane taking into account its backreaction. Our analysis indicates a finite discontinuity in the first derivative of the brane free energy as one moves from the non-heating to the heating phase (by tuning the drive amplitude and/or frequency of the driven CFT) thus demonstrating the presence of the bulk first order transition. Interestingly, no such transition is perceived by the bulk in the absence of the brane. We also provide explicit computations of two-point, four-point out-of-time correlators (OTOC) using the bulk picture. Our analysis shows that the structure of these correlators in different phases match their counterparts computed in the driven CFT. We study a Fermionic chain with nearest-neighbor hopping and density-density interactions, where the nearest-neighbor interaction term is driven periodically. We show that such a driven chain exhibits prethermal strong Hilbert space fragmentation (HSF) in the high drive amplitude regime at specific drive frequencies $\omega_m^{\ast}$. This constitutes the first realization of HSF for out-of-equilibrium systems. We obtain analytic expressions of $\omega_m^{\ast}$ using a Floquet perturbation theory and provide exact numerical computation of entanglement entropy, equal-time correlation functions, and the density autocorrelation of Fermions for finite chains. All of these quantities indicate clear signatures of strong HSF. We study the dynamics of a class of integrable non-Hermitian free-fermionic models driven periodically using a continuous drive protocol characterized by an amplitude $g_1$ and frequency $\omega_D$. We derive an analytic, albeit perturbative, Floquet Hamiltonian for describing such systems using Floquet perturbation theory with $g_1^{-1}$ being the perturbation parameter. Our analysis indicates the existence of special drive frequencies at which an approximately conserved quantity emerges. The presence of such an almost conserved quantity is reflected in the dynamics of the fidelity, the correlation functions and the half-chain entanglement entropy of the driven system. In addition, it also controls the nature of the steady state of the system. We show that one-dimensional (1D) transverse field Ising model, with an imaginary component of the transverse field, serves as an experimentally relevant example of this phenomenon. In this case, the transverse magnetization is approximately conserved; this conservation leads to complete suppression of oscillatory features in the transient dynamics of fidelity, magnetization, and entanglement of the driven chain at special drive frequencies. We discuss the nature of the steady state of the Ising chain near and away from these special frequencies, demonstrate the protocol independence of this phenomenon by showing its existence for discrete drive protocols, and suggest experiments which can test our theory., Comment: 14 pages, 7 figs; v2 with minor changes and added refs

We introduce a disorder-free model of $S=1/2$ spins on the square lattice in a constrained Hilbert space where two up-spins are not allowed simultaneously on any two neighboring sites of the lattice. The interactions are given by ring-exchange terms on elementary plaquettes that conserve both the total magnetization as well as dipole moment. We show that this model provides a tractable example of strong Hilbert space fragmentation in two dimensions with typical initial states evading thermalization with respect to the full Hilbert space. Given any product state, the system can be decomposed into disjoint spatial regions made of edge and/or vertex sharing plaquettes that we dub as ``quantum drums''. These quantum drums come in many shapes and sizes and specifying the plaquettes that belong to a drum fixes its spectrum. The spectra of some small drums is calculated analytically. We study two bigger quasi-one-dimensional drums numerically, dubbed ``wire'' and a ``junction of two wires'' respectively. We find that these possess a chaotic spectrum but also support distinct families of quantum many-body scars that cause periodic revivals from different initial states. The wire is shown to be equivalent to the one-dimensional PXP chain with open boundaries, a paradigmatic model for quantum many-body scarring; while the junction of two wires represents a distinct constrained model., Comment: v3: 57 pages, 30 figs; resubmission to SciPost Physics

We study if periodic driving of a model with a quasiperiodic potential can generate interesting Floquet phases which have no counterparts in the static model. Specifically, we consider the Aubry-Andr\'e model which is a one-dimensional time-independent model with an on-site quasiperiodic potential $V_0$ and a nearest-neighbor hopping amplitude which is taken to have a staggered form. We add a uniform hopping amplitude which varies periodically in time with a frequency $\omega$. Unlike the static Aubry-Andr\'e model which has a simple phase diagram with only two phases (only extended or only localized states), we find that the driven model has four possible phases: a phase with only extended states, a phase with multiple mobility gaps separating different quasienergy bands, a mixed phase with coexisting extended, multifractal, and localized states, and a phase with only localized states. The multifractal states have generalized inverse participation ratios which scale with the system size with exponents which are different from the values for both extended and localized states. In addition, we observe intricate re-entrant transitions between the different kinds of states when $\omega$ and $V_0$ are varied. In the limit of high frequency and large driving amplitude, we find that the Floquet quasienergies match the energies of the undriven system, but the Floquet eigenstates are much more extended. We also study the spreading of a one-particle wave packet and find that it is always ballistic but the ballistic velocity varies significantly with the system parameters, sometimes showing a non-monotonic dependence on $V_0$ which does not occur in the static model. We conclude that the interplay of quasiperiodic potential and driving produces a rich phase diagram which does not appear in the static model., Comment: 14 pages, 13 figures

$^{87}{\rm Rb}$ atoms are known to have long-lived Rydberg excited states with controllable excitation amplitude (detuning) and strong repulsive van der Waals interaction $V_{{\bf r} {\bf r'}}$ between excited atoms at sites ${\bf r}$ and ${\bf r'}$. Here we study such atoms in a two-leg ladder geometry in the presence of both staggered and uniform detuning with amplitudes $\Delta$ and $\lambda$ respectively. We show that when $V_{{\bf r r'}} \gg(\ll) \Delta, \lambda$ for $|{\bf r}-{\bf r'}|=1(>1)$, these ladders host a plateau for a wide range of $\lambda/\Delta$ where the ground states are selected by a quantum order-by-disorder mechanism from a macroscopically degenerate manifold of Fock states with fixed Rydberg excitation density $1/4$. Our study further unravels the presence of an emergent Ising transition stabilized via the order-by-disorder mechanism inside the plateau. We identify the competing terms responsible for the transition and estimate a critical detuning $\lambda_c/\Delta=1/3$ which agrees well with exact-diagonalization based numerical studies. We also study the fate of this transition for a realistic interaction potential $V_{{\bf r} {\bf r'}} = V_0 /|{\bf r}-{\bf r'}|^6$, demonstrate that it survives for a wide range of $V_0$, and provide analytic estimate of $\lambda_c$ as a function of $V_0$. We compute Out-of-Time-Order correlators (OTOCs) for conformal field theories (CFTs) subjected to either continuous or discrete periodic drive protocols. This is achieved by an appropriate analytic continuation of the stroboscopic time. After detailing the general structure, we perform explicit calculations in large-$c$ CFTs where we find that OTOCs display an exponential, an oscillatory and a power-law behaviour in the heating phase, the non-heating phase and on the phase boundary, respectively. In contrast to this, for the Ising CFT representing an integrable model, OTOCs never display such exponential growth. This observation hints towards how OTOCs can demarcate between integrable and chaotic CFT models subjected to a periodic drive. We further explore properties of the light-cone which is characterized by the corresponding butterfly velocity as well as the Lyapunov exponent. Interestingly, as a consequence of the spatial inhomogeneity introduced by the drive, the butterfly velocity, in these systems, has an explicit dependence on the initial location of the operators. We chart out the dependence of the Lyapunov exponent and the butterfly velocities on the frequency and amplitude of the drive for both protocols and discuss the fixed point structure which differentiates such driven CFTs from their un-driven counterparts., Comment: 34 pages, 6 figures, references added, minor corrections

We study the stroboscopic dynamics of hinge modes of a second-order topological material modeled by a tight-binding free fermion Hamiltonian on a cubic lattice in the intermediate drive frequency regime for both discrete (square pulse) and continuous (cosine) periodic drive protocols. We analyze the Floquet phases of this system and show that its quasienergy spectrum becomes almost gapless in the large drive amplitude regime at special drive frequencies. Away from these frequencies, the gapped quasienergy spectrum supports weakly dispersing Floquet hinge modes. Near them, these hinge modes penetrate into the bulk and eventually become indistinguishable from the bulk modes. We provide an analytic, albeit perturbative, expression for the Floquet Hamiltonian using Floquet perturbation theory (FPT) which explains this phenomenon and leads to analytic expressions of these special frequencies. We also show that in the large drive amplitude regime, the zero energy hinge modes corresponding to the static tight-binding Hamiltonian display qualitatively different dynamics at these special frequencies. We study the stroboscopic dynamics of a periodically driven finite Rydberg chain with staggered ($\Delta$) and time-dependent uniform ($\lambda(t)$) detuning terms using exact diagonalization (ED). We show that at intermediate drive frequencies ($\omega_D$), the presence of a finite $\Delta$ results in violation of the eigenstate thermalization hypothesis (ETH) via clustering of Floquet eigenstates. Such clustering is lost at special commensurate drive frequencies for which $\hbar \omega_d=n \Delta$ ($n \in Z$) leading to restoration of ergodicity. The violation of ETH in these driven finite-sized chains is also evident from the dynamical freezing displayed by the density-density correlation function at specific $\omega_D$. Such a correlator exhibits stable oscillations with perfect revivals when driven close to the freezing frequencies for initial all spin-down ($|0\rangle$) or Neel ($|{\mathbb Z}_2\rangle$, with up-spins on even sites) states. The amplitudes of these oscillations vanish at the freezing frequencies and reduces upon increasing $\Delta$; their frequencies, however, remains pinned to $\Delta/\hbar$ in the large $\Delta$ limit. In contrast, for the $|{\bar {\mathbb Z}_2}\rangle$ (time-reversed partner of $|{\mathbb Z}_2\rangle$) initial state, we find complete absence of such oscillations leading to freezing for a range of $\omega_D$; this range increases with $\Delta$. We also study the properties of quantum many-body scars in the Floquet spectrum of the model as a function of $\Delta$ and show the existence of novel mid-spectrum scars at large $\Delta$. We supplement our numerical results with those from an analytic Floquet Hamiltonian computed using Floquet perturbation theory (FPT) and also provide a semi-analytic computation of the quantum scar states within a forward scattering approximation (FSA)., Comment: v1; 19 pages, 19 figs

We show that the correlation functions of a class of periodically driven integrable closed quantum systems approach their steady state value as $n^{-(\alpha+1)/\beta}$, where $n$ is the number of drive cycles and $\alpha$ and $\beta$ denote positive integers. We find that generically $\beta=2$ within a dynamical phase characterized by a fixed $\alpha$; however, its value can change to $\beta=3$ or $\beta=4$ either at critical drive frequencies separating two dynamical phases or at special points within a phase. We show that such decays are realized in both driven Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) and one-dimensional (1D) transverse field Ising models, discuss the role of symmetries of the Floquet spectrum in determining $\beta$, and chart out the values of $\alpha$ and $\beta$ realized in these models. We analyze the SSH model for a continuous drive protocol using a Floquet perturbation theory which provides analytical insight into the behavior of the correlation functions in terms of its Floquet Hamiltonian. This is supplemented by an exact numerical study of a similar behavior for the 1D Ising model driven by a square pulse protocol. For both models, we find a crossover timescale $n_c$ which diverges at the transition. We also unravel a long-time oscillatory behavior of the correlators when the critical drive frequency, $\omega_c$, is approached from below ($\omega < \omega_c$). We tie such behavior to the presence of multiple stationary points in the Floquet spectrum of these models and provide an analytic expression for the time period of these oscillations., Comment: v1; 16 pages, 8 figs

We present a brief overview of the phases and dynamics of ultracold bosons in an optical lattice in the presence of a tilt. We begin with a brief summary of the possible experimental setup for generating the tilt. This is followed by a discussion of the effective low-energy model for these systems and its equilibrium phases. We also chart the relation of this model to the recently studied system of ultracold Rydberg atoms. Next, we discuss the non-equilibrium dynamics of this model for quench, ramp and periodic protocols with emphasis on the periodic drive which can be understood in terms of an analytic, albeit perturbative, Floquet Hamiltonian derived using Floquet perturbation theory (FPT). We study the many-body localization (MBL) transition of Floquet eigenstates in a driven, interacting fermionic chain with an incommensurate Aubry-Andr\'{e} potential and a time-periodic hopping amplitude as a function of the drive frequency $\omega_D$ using exact diagonalization (ED). We find that the nature of the Floquet eigenstates change from ergodic to Floquet-MBL with increasing frequency; moreover, for a significant range of intermediate $\omega_D$, the Floquet eigenstates exhibit non-trivial fractal dimensions. We find a possible transition from the ergodic to this multifractal phase followed by a gradual crossover to the MBL phase as the drive frequency is increased. We also study the fermion auto-correlation function, entanglement entropy, normalized participation ratio (NPR), fermion transport and the inverse participation ratio (IPR) as a function of $\omega_D$. We show that the auto-correlation, fermion transport and NPR displays qualitatively different characteristics (compared to their behavior in the ergodic and MBL regions) for the range of $\omega_D$ which supports multifractal eigenstates. In contrast, the entanglement growth in this frequency range tend to have similar features as in the MBL regime; its rate of growth is controlled by $\omega_D$. Our analysis thus indicates that the multifractal nature of Floquet-MBL eigenstates can be detected by studying auto-correlation function and fermionic transport of these driven chains. Motivated by previous works on a Floquet version of the PXP model [Mukherjee {\it et al.} Phys. Rev. B 102, 075123 (2020), Mukherjee {\it et al.} Phys. Rev. B 101, 245107 (2020)], we study a one-dimensional spin-$1/2$ lattice model with three-spin interactions in the same constrained Hilbert space (where all configurations with two adjacent $S^z=\uparrow$ spins are excluded). We show that this model possesses an extensive fragmentation of the Hilbert space which leads to a breakdown of thermalization upon unitary evolution starting from a large class of simple initial states. Despite the non-integrable nature of the Hamiltonian, many of its high-energy eigenstates admit a quasiparticle description. A class of these, which we dub as "bubble eigenstates", have integer eigenvalues (including mid-spectrum zero modes) and strictly localized quasiparticles while another class contains mobile quasiparticles leading to a dispersion in momentum space. Other anomalous eigenstates that arise due to a {\it secondary} fragmentation mechanism, including those that lead to flat bands in momentum space due to destructive quantum interference, are also discussed. The consequences of adding a (non-commuting) staggered magnetic field and a PXP term respectively to this model, where the former preserves the Hilbert space fragmentation while the latter destroys it, are discussed. A Floquet version with time-dependent staggered field also evades thermalization with additional features like freezing of exponentially many states at special drive frequencies. Finally, we map the model to a $U(1)$ lattice gauge theory coupled to dynamical fermions and discuss the interpretation of some of these anomalous states in this language. We study the localization-delocalization transition of Floquet eigenstates in a driven fermionic chain with an incommensurate Aubry-Andr\'{e} potential and a hopping amplitude which is varied periodically in time. Our analysis shows the presence of a mobility edge separating single-particle delocalized states from localized and multifractal states in the Floquet spectrum. Such a mobility edge does not have any counterpart in the static Aubry-Andr\'{e} model and exists for a range of drive frequencies near the critical frequency at which the transition occurs. The presence of the mobility edge is shown to leave a distinct imprint on fermion transport in the driven chain; it also influences the Shannon entropy and the survival probability of the fermions at long times. In addition, we find the presence of CAT states in the Floquet spectrum with weights centered around a few nearby sites of the chain. This is shown to be tied to the flattening of Floquet bands over a range of quasienergies. We support our numerical studies with a semi-analytic expression for the Floquet Hamiltonian ($H_F$) computed within a Floquet perturbation theory. The eigenspectra of the perturbative $H_F$ so obtained exhibit qualitatively identical properties to the exact eigenstates of $H_F$ obtained numerically. Our results thus constitute an analytic expression of a $H_F$ whose spectrum supports multifractal and CAT states. We suggest experiments which can test our theory., Comment: 17 pages, 16 figures

We present a brief overview of some of the analytic perturbative techniques for the computation of the Floquet Hamiltonian for a periodically driven, or Floquet, quantum many-body system. The key technical points about each of the methods discussed are presented in a pedagogical manner. They are followed by a brief account of some chosen phenomena where these methods have provided useful insights. We provide an extensive discussion of the Floquet-Magnus expansion, the adiabatic-impulse approximation, and the Floquet perturbation theory. This is followed by a relatively short discourse on the rotating wave approximation, a Floquet-Magnus resummation technique and the Hamiltonian flow method. We compute the Floquet Hamiltonian $H_F$ for weakly interacting fermions subjected to a continuous periodic drive using a Floquet perturbation theory (FPT) with the interaction amplitude being the perturbation parameter. This allows us to address the dynamics of the system at intermediate drive frequencies $\hbar \omega_D \ge V_0 \ll {\mathcal J}_0$, where ${\mathcal J}_0$ is the amplitude of the kinetic term, $\omega_D$ is the drive frequency, and $V_0$ is the typical interaction strength between the fermions. We compute, for random initial states, the fidelity $F$ between wavefunctions after a drive cycle obtained using $H_F$ and that obtained using exact diagonalization (ED). We find that FPT yields a substantially larger value of $F$ compared to its Magnus counterpart for $V_0\le \hbar \omega_D$ and $V_0\ll {\mathcal J}_0$. We use the $H_F$ obtained to study the nature of the steady state of an weakly interacting fermion chain; we find a wide range of $\omega_D$ which leads to subthermal or superthermal steady states for finite chains. The driven fermionic chain displays perfect dynamical localization for $V_0=0$; we address the fate of this dynamical localization in the steady state of a finite interacting chain and show that there is a crossover between localized and delocalized steady states. We study a magnetization reversal by an electric current pulse in a superconductor/insulating ferromagnet/superconductor Josephson junction placed on top of a 3D topological insulator. It is demonstrated that such a system is perspective for low-dissipative spintronics because of the strong spin-momentum locking in the TI surface states. This property provides an ideally strong coupling between the orbital and spin degrees of freedom thus giving a possibility of efficient reversal of the magnetic moment by current pulse with amplitude lower than the critical current, that results in strongly reduced energy dissipation. The underlying physical mechanism of the reversal is discussed. The influence of the magnetic anisotropy on the controllability of the reversal by the pulse duration is investigated. Motivated by the spin-momentum locking of electrons at the boundaries of topological insulators, we study a one-dimensional system of spin-orbit coupled massless Dirac electrons with $s$-wave superconducting pairing. As a result of the spin-orbit coupling, our model has only two kinds of linearly dispersing modes, which we take to be right-moving spin-up and left-moving spin-down. Both lattice and continuum models are studied. In the lattice model, we find that a single Majorana zero energy mode appears at each end of a finite system provided that the $s$-wave pairing has an extended form, with the nearest-neighbor pairing being larger than the on-site pairing. We confirm this both numerically and analytically by calculating the winding number. Next we study a lattice version of a model with both Schr\"odinger and Dirac-like terms and find that the model hosts a topological transition between topologically trivial and non-trivial phases depending on the relative strength of the Schr\"odinger and Dirac terms. We then study a continuum system consisting of two $s$-wave superconductors with different phases of the pairing. Remarkably, we find that the system has a {\it single} Andreev bound state which is localized at the junction. When the pairing phase difference crosses a multiple of $2 \pi$, an Andreev bound state touches the top of the superconducting gap and disappears, and a different state appears from the bottom of the gap. We also study the AC Josephson effect in such a junction with a voltage bias that has both a constant $V_0$ and a term which oscillates with a frequency $\omega$. We find that, in contrast to standard Josephson junctions, Shapiro plateaus appear when the Josephson frequency $\omega_J= 2eV_0/\hbar$ is a rational fraction of $\omega$. We study the dynamics of correlation functions of a class of $d-$dimensional integrable models coupled linearly to a fermionic or bosonic bath in the presence of a periodic drive with a square pulse protocol. It is well known that in the absence of the bath, these models exhibit a dynamical phase transition; all correlators decay to their steady state values as $n_0^{-(d+1)/2}$[$n_0^{-d/2}]$ above [below] a critical frequency $\omega_c$, where $n_0$ is the number of drive cycles. We find that the presence of a linearly coupled fermionic bath which maintains integrability of the system preserves this transition. We provide a semi-analytic expression for the evolution operator for this system and use it to provide a phase diagram showing the different dynamical regimes as a function of the system-bath coupling strength and the bath parameters. In contrast, when such models are coupled to a bosonic bath which breaks integrability of the model, we find exponential decay of the correlators to their steady state. Our numerical analysis shows that this exponential decay sets in above a critical number of drive cycles $n_c$ which depends on the system-bath coupling strength and the amplitude of perturbation. Below $n_c$, the system retains the power-law behavior identical to that for the closed integrable models and the dynamical transition survives. We study the dynamics of the periodically driven Rydberg chain starting from the state with zero Rydberg excitations (vacuum state denoted by $|0\rangle$) using a square pulse protocol in the high drive amplitude limit. We show, using exact diagonalization for finite system sizes ($L\le 26$), that the Floquet Hamiltonian of the system, within a range of drive frequencies which we chart out, hosts a set of quantum scars which have large overlap with the $|0\rangle$ state. These scars are distinct from their counterparts having high overlap with the maximal Rydberg excitation state ($|\mathbb{Z}_2\rangle$); they coexist with the latter class of scars and lead to persistent coherent oscillations of the density-density correlator starting from the $|0\rangle$ state. We also identify special drive frequencies at which the system undergoes perfect dynamic freezing and provide an analytic explanation for this phenomenon. Finally, we demonstrate that for a wide range of drive frequencies, the system reaches a steady state with sub-thermal values of the density-density correlator. The presence of such sub-thermal steady states, which are absent for dynamics starting from the $|\mathbb{Z}_2\rangle$ state, imply a weak violation of the eigenstate thermalization hypothesis in finite sized Rydberg chains distinct from that due to the scar-induced persistent oscillations reported earlier. We conjecture that in the thermodynamic limit such states may exist as pre-thermal steady states that show anomalously slow relaxation. We supplement our numerical results by deriving an analytic expression for the Floquet Hamiltonian using a Floquet perturbation theory in the high amplitude limit which provides an analytic, albeit qualitative, understanding of these phenomena at arbitrary drive frequencies. We study the unitary dynamics of randomly or quasi-periodically driven tilted Bose-Hubbard (tBH) model in one dimension deep inside its Mott phase starting from a $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry-broken state. The randomness is implemented via a telegraph noise protocol in the drive period while the quasi-periodic drive is chosen to correspond to a Thue-Morse sequence. The periodically driven tBH model (with a square pulse protocol characterized by a time period $T$) is known to exhibit transitions from dynamical regimes with long-time coherent oscillations to those with rapid thermalization. Here we show that starting from a regime where the periodic drive leads to rapid thermalization, a random drive, which consists of a random sequence of square pulses with period $T+\alpha dT$, where $\alpha=\pm 1$ is a random number and $dT$ is the amplitude of the noise, restores long-time coherent oscillations for special values of $dT$. A similar phenomenon can be seen for a quasi-periodic drive following a Thue-Morse sequence where such coherent behavior is shown to occur for a larger number of points in the $(T, dT)$ plane due to the additional structure of the drive protocol. We present a path integral formalism for expressing matrix elements of the density matrix of a quantum many-body system between any two coherent states in terms of standard Matsubara action with periodic(anti-periodic) boundary conditions on bosonic(fermionic) fields. We show that this enables us to express several entanglement measures for bosonic/fermionic many-body systems described by a Gaussian action in terms of the Matsubara Green function. We apply this formalism to compute various entanglement measures for the two-dimensional Bose-Hubbard model in the strong-coupling regime, both in the presence and absence of Abelian and non-Abelian synthetic gauge fields, within a strong coupling mean-field theory. In addition, our method provides an alternative formalism for addressing time evolution of quantum-many body systems, with Gaussian actions, driven out of equilibrium without the use of Keldysh technique. We demonstrate this by deriving analytical expressions of the return probability and the counting statistics of several operators for a class of integrable models represented by free Dirac fermions subjected to a periodic drive in terms of the elements of their Floquet Hamiltonians. Josephson current between two one-dimensional nanowires with proximity induced $p$-wave superconducting pairing is calculated in the presence of Rashba spin-orbit interaction, in-plane and normal magnetic fields. We show that Andreev retro-tunneling is realized by means of three channels. The main contribution to the Josephson current gives a scattering in a conventional particle-hole channel, when an electron-like quasiparticle reflects to a hole-like quasiparticle with opposite spin yielding a current which depends only on the order parameters' phase differences $\varphi$ and oscillates with $4\pi$ period. Second anomalous particle-hole channel, corresponding to the Andreev reflection of an incident electron-like quasiparticle to an hole-like quasiparticle with the same spin orientation, survives only in the presence of the in-plane magnetic field. The contribution of this channel to the Josephson current oscillates with $4\pi$ period not only with $\varphi$ but also with orientational angle of the in-plane magnetic field $\theta$ resulting in a magneto-Josephson effect. Third anomalous particle-particle channel, which represents a reflection of an electron-like (hole-like) quasiparticle to a electron-like (hole-like) quasiparticle with opposite spin-orientation, oscillates only with the in-plane magnetic field orientation angle $\theta$. We study transport across a time-dependent magnetic barrier present on the surface of a three-dimensional topological insulator. We show that such a barrier can be implemented for Dirac electrons on the surface of a three-dimensional topological insulator by a combination of a proximate magnetic material and linearly polarized external radiation. We find that the conductance of the system can be tuned by varying the frequency and amplitude of the radiation and the energy of an electron incident on the barrier providing us optical control on the conductance of such junctions. We first study a $\delta$-function barrier which shows a number of interesting features such as sharp peaks and dips in the transmission at certain angles of incidence. Approximate methods for studying the limits of small and large frequencies are presented. We then study a barrier with a finite width. This gives rise to some new features which are not present for a $\delta$-function barrier, such as resonances in the conductance at certain values of the system parameters. We present a perturbation theory for studying the limit of large driving amplitude and use this to understand the resonances. Finally, we use a semiclassical approach to study transmission across a time-dependent barrier and show how this can qualitatively explain some of the results found in the earlier analysis. We study a Josephson junction involving a Weyl and a multi-Weyl semimetal separated by a barrier region of width $d$ created by putting a gate voltage $U_0$ over the Weyl semimetal. The topological winding number of such a junction changes across the barrier. We show that $I_c R_N$ for such junctions, where $I_c$ is the critical current and $R_N$ the normal state resistance, in the thin barrier limit, has a universal value independent of the barrier potential. We provide an analytical expression of the Andreev bound states and use it to demonstrate that the universal value of $I_c R_N$ is a consequence of change in topological winding number across the junction. We also study AC Josephson effect in such a junction in the presence of an external microwave radiation, chart out its current-voltage characteristics, and show that the change in the winding number across the junction shapes the properties of its Shapiro steps. We discuss the effect of increasing barrier thickness $d$ on the above-mentioned properties and chart out experiments which may test our theory., Comment: v2. 10 figs, 11 pages. The presence of quantum scars, athermal eigenstates of a many-body Hamiltonian with finite energy density, leads to absence of ergodicity and long-time coherent dynamics in closed quantum systems starting from simple initial states. Such non-ergodic coherent dynamics, where the system does not explore its entire phase space, has been experimentally observed in a chain of ultracold Rydberg atoms. We show, via study of a periodically driven Rydberg chain, that the drive frequency acts as a tuning parameter for several reentrant transitions between ergodic and non-ergodic regimes. The former regime shows rapid thermalization of correlation functions and absence of scars in the spectrum of the system's Floquet Hamiltonian. The latter regime, in contrast, has scars in its Floquet spectrum which control the long-time coherent dynamics of correlation functions. Strong dependence of the Josephson energy on the magnetization orientation in Josephson junctions with ferromagnetic interlayers and spin-orbit coupling opens a way to control magnetization by Josephson current or Josephson phase. Here we investigate the perspectives of magnetization control in superconductor/ferromagnet/superconductor (S/F/S) Josephson junctions on the surface of a 3D topological insulator hosting Dirac quasiparticles. Due to the spin-momentum locking of these Dirac quasiparticles a strong dependence of the Josephson current-phase relation on the magnetization orientation is realized. It is demonstrated that this can lead to splitting of the ferromagnet's easy-axis in the voltage driven regime. We show that such a splitting can lead to stabilization of an unconventional four-fold degenerate ferromagnetic state.

We study transport across ballistic junctions of materials which host pseudospin-one fermions as emergent low-energy quasiparticles. The effective low-energy Hamiltonians of such fermions are described by integer spin Weyl models. We show that current conservation in such integer spin-$s$ Weyl systems requires continuity across a boundary of only $2s$ (out of $2s+1$) components of the wave function. Using the current conservation conditions, we study the transport between normal metal-barrier-normal metal (NBN) and normal metal-barrier-superconductor (NBS) junctions of such systems in the presence of an applied voltage $eV$. We show that for a specific value of the barrier potential $U_0$, such NBN junctions act as perfect collimators; any quasiparticle which is incident on the barrier with a non-zero angle of incidence is reflected back with unit probability for any barrier width $d$. We discover an interesting symmetry of this system, namely, the conductance is invariant under $U_0 \to 2(\mu_L \pm eV)-U_0$, where $\mu_L$ is the chemical potential and the +(-) sign corresponds to particle (hole) mediated transport. For NBS junctions with a proximity-induced $s$-wave pairing potential, which also display such a collimation, we chart out the properties of the subgap tunneling conductance $G$ as a function of the barrier strength and applied voltage. We point out the effect of the collimation on the subgap tunneling conductance of these NBS junctions and discuss experiments which can test our theory., Comment: v1; 13 pages, 8 figs

We investigate the thermal physics of a Bose-Hubbard model with Rashba spin-orbit coupling starting from a strong coupling mean-field ground state. The essential role of the spin-orbit coupling $\left(\gamma\right)$ is to promote condensation of the bosons at a finite wavevector ${k}_{0}$. We find that the bosons display either homogeneous or phase-twisted or orbital ordered superfluid phases, depending on $\gamma$ and the inter-species interaction strength $\lambda$. We show that an increase of $\gamma$ leads to suppression of the critical interaction $U_c$ for the superfluid to Mott insulator transition in the ground state, and a reduction of the $T_c$ for superfluid to Bose-liquid transition at a fixed interaction. We capture the thermal broadening in the momentum distribution function, and the real space profiles of the thermally disordered magnetic textures, including their homogenization for $T \gtrsim T_{c}$. We provide a Landau theory based description of the ground state phase boundaries and thermal transition scales, and discuss experiments which can test our theory., Comment: 11 pages, 12 figures

The Josephson $\varphi_0$ junctions with the current-phase relation $I = I_c \sin (\varphi-\varphi_0)$, where the phase shift $\varphi_0$ is proportional to the magnetic moment perpendicular to the gradient of the asymmetric spin-orbit potential, demonstrate a number of unique features important for superconducting spintronics and modern informational technologies. Here we show that a current sweep along IV-characteristic of the $\varphi_0$ junction may lead to regular magnetization dynamics with a series of specific phase trajectories. The origin of these trajectories is related to a direct coupling between the magnetic moment and the Josephson oscillations in these junctions, and ferromagnetic resonance when Josephson frequency coincides with the ferromagnetic one. We demonstrate that an external electromagnetic field can control the dynamics of magnetic moment within a current interval corresponding to a Shapiro step and produce topological transformation of specific precession trajectories. We demonstrate the appearance of the DC component of superconducting current and clarify its role in the transformation of IV-characteristics in the resonance region. Good agreement between numerical and analytical results has been found in the ferromagnetic resonance region. The presented results might be used for developing novel resonance methods of determination of the spin-orbit coupling parameter in the non-centrosymmetric materials. We discuss experiments which can test our results.

We study transport across junctions of a Weyl and a multi-Weyl semimetal (WSM and a MSM) separated by a region of thickness $d$ which has a barrier potential $U_0$. We show that in the thin barrier limit ($U_0 \to \infty$ and $d \to 0$ with $\chi=U_0 d/(\hbar v_F)$ kept finite, where $v_F$ is velocity of low-energy electrons and $\hbar$ is Planck's constant), the tunneling conductance $G$ across such a junction becomes independent of $\chi$. We demonstrate that such a barrier independence is a consequence of the change in the topological winding number of the Weyl nodes across the junction and point out that it has no analogue in tunneling conductance of either junctions of two-dimensional topological materials (such as graphene or topological insulators) or those made out of WSMs or MSMs with same topological winding numbers. We study this phenomenon both for normal-barrier-normal (NBN) and normal-barrier-superconductor (NBS) junctions involving WSMs and MSMs with arbitrary winding numbers and discuss experiments which can test our theory., Comment: v3. We study transport across either a potential or a magnetic barrier which is placed on the top surface of a three-dimensional thin topological insulator (TI). For such thin TIs, the top and bottom surfaces interact via a coupling $\lambda$ which influences the transport properties of junctions constructed out of them. We find that for junctions hosting a potential barrier, the differential conductance oscillates with the barrier strength. The period of these oscillations doubles as the coupling $\lambda$ changes from small values to a value close to the energy of the incident electrons. In contrast, for junctions with a magnetic barrier, the conductance approaches a non-zero constant as the barrier strength is increased. This feature is in contrast to the case of transport across a single TI surface where the conductance approaches zero as the strength of a magnetic barrier is increased. We also study the spin currents for these two kinds of barriers; in both cases, the spin current is found to have opposite signs on the top and bottom surfaces. Thus this system can be used to split applied charge currents to spin currents with opposite spin orientations which can be collected by applying opposite spin-polarized leads to the two surfaces. We show that several of these features of transport across finite width barriers can be understood analytically by studying the $\delta$-function barrier limit. We chart out the ground state phase diagram and demonstrate the presence of a many-body localized (MBL) phase for an experimentally realizable one-dimensional (1D) constrained dipole boson model in the presence of an Aubry-Andre (AA) potential whose strength $\lambda_0$ can be tuned to precipitate an ergodic-MBL transition. We discuss the signature of such a transition in the quantum dynamics of the model by computing its response subsequent to a sudden quench of $\lambda_0$. We show that the MBL and the ergodic phases can be clearly distinguished by study of post-quench dynamics and provide an estimate for minimal time up to which experiments need to track the response of the system to confirm the onset of the MBL phase. We study non-equilibrium dynamics of integrable and non-integrable closed quantum systems whose unitary evolution is interrupted with stochastic resets, characterized by a reset rate $r$, that project the system to its initial state. We show that the steady state density matrix of a non-integrable system, averaged over the reset distribution, retains its off-diagonal elements for any finite $r$. Consequently a generic observable $\hat O$, whose expectation value receives contribution from these off-diagonal elements, never thermalizes under such dynamics for any finite $r$. We demonstrate this phenomenon by exact numerical studies of experimentally realizable models of ultracold bosonic atoms in a tilted optical lattice. For integrable Dirac-like fermionic models driven periodically between such resets, the reset-averaged steady state is found to be described by a family of generalized Gibbs ensembles (GGE s) characterized by $r$. We also study the spread of particle density of a non-interacting one-dimensional fermionic chain, starting from an initial state where all fermions occupy the left half of the sample, while the right half is empty. When driven by resetting dynamics, the density profile approaches at long times to a nonequilibrium stationary profile that we compute exactly. We study out-of-time-order correlation (OTOC) for one-dimensional periodically driven hardcore bosons in the presence of Aubry-Andr\'e (AA) potential and show that both the spectral properties and the saturation values of OTOC in the steady state of these driven systems provide a clear distinction between the localized and delocalized phases of these models. Our results, obtained via exact numerical diagonalization of these boson chains, thus indicate that OTOC can provide a signature of drive induced delocalization even for systems which do not have a well defined semiclassical (and/or large N) limit. We demonstrate the presence of such signature by analyzing two different drive protocols for hardcore bosons chains leading to distinct physical phenomena and discuss experiments which can test our theory.

We study the spectrum of Andreev bound states and Josephson currents across a junction of $N$ superconducting wires which may have $s$- or $p$-wave pairing symmetries and develop a scattering matrix based formalism which allows us to address transport across such junctions. For $N \ge 3$, it is well known that Berry curvature terms contribute to the Josephson currents; we chart out situations where such terms can have relatively large effects. For a system of three $s$- or three $p$-wave superconductors, we provide analytic expressions for the Andreev bound state energies and study the Josephson currents in response to a constant voltage applied across one of the wires; we find that the integrated transconductance at zero temperature is quantized to integer multiples of $4e^2/h$, where $e$ is the electron charge and $h = 2\pi \hbar$ is Planck's constant. For a sinusoidal current with frequency $\omega$ applied across one of the wires in the junction, we find that Shapiro plateaus appear in the time-averaged voltage $\langle V_1 \rangle$ across that wire for any rational fractional multiple (in contrast to only integer multiples in junctions of two wires) of $2e \langle V_1 \rangle/(\hbar \omega)$. We also use our formalism to study junctions of two $p$- and one $s$-wave wires. We find that the corresponding Andreev bound state energies depend on the spin of the Bogoliubov quasiparticles; this produces a net magnetic moment in such junctions. The time variation of these magnetic moments may be controlled by an external applied voltage across the junction. We study ramp and periodic dynamics of ultracold bosons in an one-dimensional (1D) optical lattice which supports quantum critical points separating a uniform and a $Z_3$ or $Z_4$ symmetry broken density-wave ground state. Our protocol involves both linear and periodic drives which takes the system from the uniform state to the quantum critical point (for linear drive protocol) or to the ordered state and back (for periodic drive protocols) via controlled variation of a parameter of the system Hamiltonian. We provide exact numerical computation, for finite-size boson chains with $L \le 24$ using exact-diagonalization (ED), of the excitation density $D$, the wavefunction overlap $F$, and the excess energy $Q$ at the end of the drive protocol. For the linear ramp protocol, we identify the range of ramp speeds for which $D$ and $Q$ shows Kibble-Zurek scaling. We find, based on numerical analysis with $L \le 24$, that such scaling is consistent with that expected from critical exponents of the $q$-state Potts universality class with $q=3,4$. For periodic protocol, we show that the model display near-perfect dynamical freezing at specific frequencies; at these frequencies $D, Q \to 0$ and $|F| \to 1$. We provide a semi-analytic explanation of such freezing behavior and relate this phenomenon to a many-body version of Stuckelberg interference. We study periodically driven closed systems with a long-ranged Hamiltonian by considering a generalized Kitaev chain with pairing terms which decay with distance as a power law characterized by exponent $\alpha$. Starting from an initial unentangled state, we show that all local quantities relax to well-defined steady state values in the thermodynamic limit and after $n \gg 1$ drive cycles for any $\alpha$ and driving frequency $\omega$. We introduce a distance measure, $\mathcal{D}_l(n)$, that characterizes the approach of the reduced density matrix of a subsystem of $l$ sites to its final steady state. We chart out the $n$ dependence of ${\mathcal D}_l(n)$ and identify a critical value $\alpha=\alpha_c$ below which they generically decay to zero as $(\omega/n)^{1/2}$. For $\alpha > \alpha_c$, in contrast, ${\mathcal D}_l(n) \sim (\omega/n)^{3/2}[(\omega/n)^{1/2}]$ for $\omega \to \infty [0]$ with at least one intermediate dynamical transition. We also study the mutual information propagation to understand the nature of the entanglement spreading in space with increasing $n$ for such systems. We point out existence of qualitatively new features in the space-time dependence of mutual information for $\omega < \omega^{(1)}_c$, where $\omega^{(1)}_c$ is the largest critical frequency for the dynamical transition for a given $\alpha$. One such feature is the presence of {\it multiple} light cone-like structures which persists even when $\alpha$ is large. We also show that the nature of space-time dependence of the mutual information of long-ranged Hamiltonians with $\alpha \le 2$ differs qualitatively from their short-ranged counterparts with $\alpha > 2$ for any drive frequency and relate this difference to the behavior of the Floquet group velocity of such driven system., Comment: v2; two-column format, 19 pages, 16 figures (Shortened abstract due to character limit for arXiv submission; see main text); slightly modified version submitted for review
