Objective: To examine the types of traumatic dental injuries of the primary teeth (TDI-p) and the long-term sequelae on permanent dentition (LSP) comparing with a control group (CG). In addition, a questionnaire that measures parents' knowledge and awareness was used. Material and Methods: The trauma group (TG) consisted of permanent teeth following TDI-p exposed teeth, while the CG consisted of permanent teeth following unexposed teeth with TDI-p of the same patients. In Turkey, digitalization of curricula, teachers, course materials, and educational technologies is relatively slower when compared with the ones in economic sectors and state services in general. In this study, we proposed a model for a new generation university in a digitalized society. The Council of Higher Education classifies universities in three categories (mission) to respond to technological and economic developments in the societal life: research, regional-development oriented and thematic universities. At national level, a digital transformation office acts as a coordination and orchestration body among governmental institutions in order to carry and transform public services into digital environment. The private sector naturally has to be digitalized by national and international severe competition.

Purpose Traumatic dental injuries are among the commonly observed problems in the primary and permanent teeth. The rate of prevalence of dental trauma varies globally. In this study, we investigated the type of dental trauma, related factors, and treatment procedures in children. Subjects and Methods During a 5-year period (January 2011–January 2016), 416 children aged in the range of 1–15 years were admitted to our clinic with dental trauma. The cause and type of the dental trauma in the primary and permanent teeth and their relation with gender and age were evaluated using the chi-square test, and their distribution by age was evaluated using regression analysis. Results Overall, girls and boys comprised 37% and 63% of the study population, respectively. The mean age was 8.5 years. Falls (61.1%) were the most common cause of traumatic dental injuries, and enamel–dentin fracture (26%) was the most common dental trauma type. Conclusions Traumatic dental injuries in children are common. A large proportion of patients without any clinical symptoms (15.8%) did not seek any treatment after the trauma. Teachers, parents, and children should be informed about the action to be taken when dental trauma occurs and about the importance of immediately taking the child to a dentist after the trauma to ensure an accurate diagnosis, an optimal treatment plan, and positive outcome.

Micromeria fruticosa (L.) Druce subsp. serpyllifolia, which is widely used in folk medicine as a medicinal herbal tea, is grown in different areas of Turkey and the Mediterranean region. The present study was conducted to evaluate the aqueous extract of Micromeria fruticosa subsp. serpyllifolia for its antioxidant and antiproliferative activity on a human glioblastoma multiforme cell line (U-87 MG), which has not been reported before. Here, the extract was added to cultures at 8 different concentrations (0-200 μg/mL). Cell viability and cell membrane damage was determined using the MTT and LDH assays for 48 h, respectively. To examine the oxidative effects, total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and total oxidant status (TOS) levels were measured. The extract displayed considerable antiproliferative activities at the high concentrations of 175 and 200 μg/mL. Furthermore, the extract caused a significant increase in the release of the lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) enzyme in a concentration-dependent manner; 200 μg/mL of extract enhanced the release of LDH. Treatments with extract at higher doses increased TOS levels and decreased TAC levels in human U-87 MG cells. Our study suggests that the aqueous extract of Micromeria fruticosa ssp. serpyllifolia was capable of inducing growth inhibition of cancer cells. These results encourage further research to assess the value of the extract in modern phytotherapy.

We have developed efficient procedure for isolation of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) using aminobenzohydrazide-based affinity chromatography. Sepharose 4B-bounded aminobenzohydrazides are suitable for long-term use and large-scale purification. In this study, 26 aminobenzohydrazide derivatives were synthesized, characterized and defined as new HRP inhibitors. In addition, detailed inhibition effects of these molecules on HRP enzyme were investigated. Affinity matrix was formed by bonding aminobenzohydrazides, which exhibited inhibitory activity to sepharose-4B-l-tyrosine. HRP was isolated from crude homogenate in single step and purification factors were recorded as 1,151-fold (recovery of 8.5%) with 4-amino 3-bromo benzohydrazide and as 166.16-fold (recovery of 16.67 %) with 3-amino 4-chloro benzohydrazide., (© 2020 International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Inc.)

In this study, an effective single step affinity method is presented for purifying plant peroxidase (POD) enzymes from radish species. This method make possible to purify the enzymes in high yield and purity. Briefly, 10 different 4-amino benzohydrazide derivatives were synthesized and identified as new competitive POD inhibitors. Then, these derivatives were coupled to Sepharose 4B-L-Tyrosine support matrix by diazotization to form the affinity gels. Purification factors were recorded as 54.8% yield - 665-fold, 33.8% yield - 613-fold, 22.7% yield - 595-fold, 34.4% yield - 781-fold, 40.9% yield - 282-fold for turnip (T-POD), black radish (BR-POD), daikon (D-POD), sweet radish (SR-POD) and kohlrabi radish, (KR-POD), respectively. It has also been shown that the affinity gels, which prepared using the 4-amino 3-bromo benzohydrazide and 4-amino 2-nitro benzohydrazide molecules, capable to purify all radish species POD enzymes in high purity and yield., (Copyright © 2019 Elsevier B.V.
