We describe a narrowly endemic new species of Delairea from the highlands of southern Brazil. It is the second species described in this previously monospecific genus that was endemic to Africa, and the first record of a native species of Delairea in the Americas. Delairea aparadensis differs from D. odorata by its deltoid leaves and capitulescences composed by cymes of 2–6 capitula. Additionally, the new species is classified as critically endangered using the IUCN criteria.

Turanecio Hamzaoğlu, a new genus of the Asteraceae, is described. Ten species are included, previously referred to Senecio L., Cineraria L., or Iranecio B.Nord. This genus belongs to the "Quadridentate Group" of the subtribe Senecioninae, because of the 4-lobed disc florets. The new genus closely resembles Dolichorrhiza (Pojark.) Galushko, but differs by the thickish rhizome, the short-sagittate anther bases, the style branches with papillate lower surface, and in possessing a persistent pappus. Turanecio is centred in Turkey, with species in the Caucasus, Iran, and Iraq., Turanecio Hamzaoğlu, Asteraceae familyasının yeni bir cinsi olarak tanımlandı. Önceden Senecio L., Cineraria L. veya Iranecio B.Nord. cinsleri altında yer alan on tür, yeni cinse aktarıldı. Bu cins 4-loblu tüpsü çiçeklere sahip olduğu için Senecioninae altoymağının “Quadridentate Grubu” içinde yer alır. Yeni cins Dolichorrhiza (Pojark.) Galushko cinsine oldukça benzerdir, fakat rizomunun kalın, anter tabanının kısa-sagittat, sitilus dalları alt yüzeyinin papillat ve pappusunun kalıcı olmasıyla ondan farklıdır. Türkiye orijinli olan Turanecio Kafk asya, İran ve Irak’a kadar yayılış gösterir.

The investigation of further 27 South African and a few other Senecio species afforded in addition to known compounds 18 new furanoeremophilanes, most of them being cacalol derivatives, two new lactones, a new eudesmane derivative and four acyl pyrrole derivatives. The structures are elucidated by spectroscopic methods mainly. The chemical results on more than 140 species now available indicate much of chemotaxonomic interest. Together with the chemical data on related genera, the taxonomic situation of the subtribe Senecioninae is discussed in connection with the proposed new classification. The chemical data are in good agreement with this new arrangement.

The external pollen morphology of 95 species of the genus Senecio, predominantly from southern Africa, and 11 species from related genera of the subtribe Senecioninae, was investigated using the scanning electron microscope. The pollen of all the species studied is spheroidal, uniformly tricolporate and echinate. The distal ends of the spinules are entire and their apices are acute. Only the frequency of the spinules and the length: basal width ratio of the spinules varied amongst the species studied.
