AbstractThis study assesses the impact of spiritual adherence on green innovative behavior in pilgrimage tourism contexts. From the notion of COR (conservation of resource) theory, the research examines how green self-efficacy and learning climate influence the relationship between spiritual adherence and green innovative behavior. The researcher gathered data from 362 pilgrims and then conducted a mediation and mediation–moderation path analysis as part of a two-step structural equation modeling approach. The results showed that spiritual adherence positively influenced green innovative behavior, and the association was partially mediated by green self-efficacy and moderated by perceived learning climate. To explain the tested hypotheses, this study used semi-structured interviews and media sources to supplement the quantitative results and further explore pilgrims’ experience with and engagement in green innovative behavior. This study extends our comprehension that how spirituality promotes green innovative behavior, thus contributing to the limited research on sustainability issues in emerging economies and tourism markets, including those in Africa. This study explores the emotional experiences of individuals attending diaspora festivals using guided interviews of members of the Ethiopian diaspora. A constructivist grounded theory method was applied and a conceptual model comprised of emotional experiences was created. The findings demonstrated five main emotional experiences associated with diaspora festivals: happiness (the most common), pride, arousal, feeling at home, and feeling not lonely. The study confirmed that feeling at home and not lonely were emotions that were unique to diaspora festivals. The study also identified various specific emotion evokers, including homeland atmosphere, homeland people, religious activities, and the availability of the festival. Key theoretical and practical implications include constructing the diaspora festival emotional experience model, broadening our understanding of hedonic well-being, and incorporating the perspectives of contemporary African migrants, all of which can inform marketing strategies, policy development, and societal problem-solving. This study examines the importance of pilgrimage tourism to green innovation and assesses the factors that influence pilgrimage tourism efforts and implementation to ensure green innovation. The results of semi-structured, in-depth interviews with religious figures and pilgrims, supplemented by secondary sources, show that linking pilgrimage capabilities and religious organizations is critical to sustaining green innovation rather than focusing on the dispersed state of consciousness. The findings underscore the importance of a practice-based teaching approach and the necessity of spiritual adherence to green innovative behavior. It is argued that the intersection between pilgrims and religious organizations supports the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030 in less developed nations, such as in Africa. Although seasonality is an old tourism phenomenon, the advent of global hypermobilities and the changing features of the tourism industry requires a considerable revisit to the longstanding assumption of tourism. This study provokes further research on various seasonality aspects implicated in the discussion based on the broad range of the literature review and the subsequent findings. The article explores the current seasonality research in tourism and hospitality and proposes a typology and literature-based agenda for future scholarly investigations. Results provide an overview of seasonality research in tourism and hospitality by examining key themes in theory, methodology, research topics, and geographical features. This study examines Africa-related tourism and hospitality literature over the past 35 years (1984 to 2019), taking account of themes, methodologies, geographies, and collaboration structures. The authors identified and analyzed 1,182 published articles from 27 journals using advanced bibliometric to provide a deeper analysis than has been provided previously of tourism and hospitality scholarship in Africa. This article offers an up-to-date systematic overview of Africa-related tourism knowledge production and dissemination. Prominent features of the knowledge domain are discussed—destination management, travel psychology and sociology, sustainability, sociocultural issues, economy, tourism investment and economy, accommodation and hotels in Africa. This study examines the importance of interfaith tourism to peace and socio-economic development and assesses factors that influence interfaith tourism vis-à-vis its role in peacebuilding and socio-economic development. The researcher adopted an exploratory research design and conducted in-depth semi-structured interviews and media analysis. The findings revealed that interfaith tourism constitutes a powerful social force that can reinforce peace and socio-economic development. However, challenges related to low tourism development, poor engagement, and collaboration among tourism stakeholders limit interfaith tourism benefits. This research contributes to the scarce literature concerning the socio-political aspects of tourism and the importance of interfaith tourism for peace and local development. It is argued that interfaith tourism supports the United Nation Sustainable Development Goal (UN SDG) 16 in maintaining peace and social justice in developing nations like Africa. Regardless of type, level and magnitude, a crisis has an effect on the tourism sector. Although numerous studies have investigated tourism crises, most of them concentrate on the increase and decrease in tourist arrival numbers. However, to date, little is known about the evolutionary differences in tourist behaviour caused by different types of crisis. This study investigates the underlying influence of financial and health-related crises on tourist profile, purpose of visit and expenditure patterns in Hong Kong's inbound tourism industry. The results indicate a variation in tourists' sensitivity before, during and after crises in short- and long-haul markets. This difference is apparent in terms of age, purpose of visit and expenditure patterns in tourists. We found that the nature and phases of crises do not invariably influence tourists.
