The article explores the ethnographic gaze on Benidorm in Marta Sanz's autobiographical novel, La lección de anatomía (The Anatomy Lesson), the place where the Madrid-born author spent her childhood. The work presents this city in Alicante, a paradigm of development in the 1960s, as a space transformed by mass tourism. A city where we perceive a social segmentation of spaces and expressive worlds constructed by the dialectic relationship between hosts and guests, residents and tourists. In the text we provide a contextualised reading of this ethnographic gaze constructed from gender and the perspective from a double agency. El artículo explora la mirada etnográfica sobre Benidorm en la autobiografía novelada de Marta Sanz, La lección de anatomía, lugar en el que la autora madrileña pasó su infancia. En la obra se nos presenta esta ciudad alicantina, paradigma del desarrollo de la década de los sesenta, como un espacio transformado por el turismo de masas. Una ciudad donde se percibe una segmentación social de espacios y de mundos expresivos construidos por la relación dialéctica entre anfitriones y huéspedes, residentes y turistas. En el texto aportamos una lectura contextualizada de esa mirada etnográfica construida desde el género y la perspectiva desde una doble agencia. In recent years, we have observed, and different research has highlighted, the wide potential of UNESCO's heritage declarations as a value for the promotion of tourist destinations. It constitutes a powerful instrument for local economic development and a beneficial incentive for tourist activity. With the General Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (2003) and the incorporation of this new categorization of heritage assets to be preserved, UNESCO is not limited to recognizing the assets -materials / real estate- of the Convention of 1972, the Sites of the World Heritage (WHS), but it extends it considerably to the immaterial aspects of the culture and the different manifestations of the "living culture" (traditions, oral expressions, performing arts, social customs, rituals, knowledge, handicrafts, etc.). Intangible Cultural Heritage recognized by UNESCO are identified with their own logo and considerations and treatments different from those used for World Heritage Sites. Our communication proposes to show how the recognition of intangible heritage assets of UNESCO influences tourism, to what extent is used, promoted and disseminated the new brand of Intangible Cultural Heritage, and what consequences this type of goods, its protagonists and agents., En los últimos años, hemos observado, y distintas investigaciones así lo han destacado, el amplio potencial de las declaraciones de patrimonio de la UNESCO como valor para la promoción de destinos turísticos. Constituye un poderoso instrumento para el desarrollo económico local y un beneficioso incentivo de la actividad turística. Con la Convención General para la Salvaguarda del Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial (2003) y la incorporación de esta nueva categorización de bienes patrimoniales a preservar, la UNESCO no se limita a reconocer los bienes patrimoniales –materiales/inmuebles- de la Convención de 1972, los Sitios del Patrimonio Mundial (WHS), sino que lo amplía considerablemente a losaspectos inmateriales de la cultura y las distintas manifestaciones de la ―cultura viva‖(tradiciones, expresiones orales, artes del espectáculo, usos sociales, rituales, conocimientos, artesanías, etc.). Los bienes inmateriales reconocidos por la UNESCO se identifican con un logotipo propio y unas consideraciones y tratamientos diferentes de los empleados para los Sitios del Patrimonio Mundial. Nuestra comunicación plantea mostrar cómo incide el reconocimiento de bienes patrimoniales inmateriales de la UNESCO en la actividad turística, hasta qué punto se emplea, promociona y difunde la nueva marca de Patrimonio Cultural Inmaterial, y qué consecuencias tiene sobre este tipo de bienes, sus protagonistas y agentes.
