Abstract

Real Time performance testing can be divided into two distinct parts: system test and algorithm test. System test checks that the right functions operate on the right data within power, latency, and other constraints under all conditions. Major RAN OEMs, put as much effort into system test and debug as they do into algorithm test, to ensure a competitive product. An algorithm tester will provide little insight into real time and hardware-software (HW-SW) capacity as it is unaware of the system implementation. In this paper we present an innovative Digital Twin technology, which we call Declarative Digital Twin (DDT). A DDT can describe the system requirements of the RAN such that critical corner cases can be found via automation, that would normally be missed by conventional testing. This is possible even when the RAN requirements are only partially specified. We present a Domain Specific Language (DSL) for declarative description of the RAN and show results from an automated solver that demonstrate how potential HW-SW implementation related corner cases can be identified from the DDT of an ORAN DU., Comment: 5 pages, 7 figures, 1 table, presented at the First RitiRAN Workshop co-located with VTC Fall 2024

Abstract

Hybrid DC circuit breakers combine mechanical switches with a redirecting current path, typically controlled by power electronic devices, to prevent arcing during switch contact separation. The authors' past work includes a bipolar hybrid DC circuit breaker that effectively redirects the fault current and returns it to the source. This reduces arcing between the mechanical breaker's contacts and prevents large voltage overshoots across them. However, the breaker's performance declines as the upstream line inductance increases, causing overvoltage. This work introduces a modification to the originally proposed hybrid DC breaker to make it suitable to use anywhere along DC grid lines. By using a switch-controlled surge arrester in parallel with the DC breaker, part of the arc energy is dissipated in the surge arrester, preventing an overvoltage across the mechanical switches. Based on the experimental results, the proposed method can effectively interrupt the fault current with minimal arcing and reduce the voltage stress across the mechanical switches. To address practical fault currents, tests at high fault currents (900 A) and voltage levels (500 V) are conducted and compared with simulation models and analytical studies. Furthermore, the application of the breaker for the protection of DC distribution grids is illustrated through simulations, and the procedure for designing the breaker components is explained. 27. Estimation of activation energy of Tartrazine dye based natural organic device.

Abstract

The electrical conductivity of the natural chemical molecule Tartrazine dye is investigated in this publication. This dye has a good electrical conductivity, prompting us to investigate the AC and DC conduction mechanisms of this dye-based device further. Absorption spectroscopy was used to determine the optical band gap of this dye, which was determined to be 2.58eV. Measurement of DC electrical conductivity of this dye was done with an impedance spectrometer from the temperature range 303 K (30° C) to 373 K (100° C). The dye shows a conductivity of 5.07 × 10−8 (n-m)−1 for low temperature region and 1.22 × 10−8(n-m)−1 for high temperature region. The activation energy was measured using the well-known Arrhenius equation having values 1.685 eV and 0.946 eV for low and high temperature regions respectively. AC conductivity also carried out between the frequency range 500Hz to 100KHz with the temperature range 303 K (30° C) to 373 K (100° C). Activation energy at AC field was found to be 0.291 eV. We can see that the value of DC conductivity is higher with respect to AC conductivity at high temperature region and the activation energy in DC field is higher with respect to the AC field. Barrier hooping mechanism is an evidence for the reduction of the activation energy in AC field. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
