Microwave cavities of high quality factor $Q\sim10^5-10^6$ will be developed at CAPP/IBS in Daejeon. Low-noise microwave amplification of the signal will be ensured by DC superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUID) or/and Josephson parametric amplifiers (JPA) cooled-down to 20~mK by a $^3$He/$^4$He dilution refrigerator. We extract the dark matter density and velocity distribution at the Solar position for a set of simulated galaxies which satisfy Milky Way observational constraints, and use them to analyze current direct detection data. We find that the local dark matter density of the Milky Way-like galaxies fall in the range of $0.41 - 0.73$ GeV$/$cm$^3$, and their dark matter velocity distributions fit well a Maxwellian distribution with peak speed in the range of $223 - 289$ km$/$s., Published by Verlag Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron, Hamburg

Abstract

The new axion helioscope at CERN started acquiring data during September of 2002: CAST (Cern Axion Solar Telescope) employs a decommissioned LHC dipole magnet to convert putative solar axions or axion-like particles into detectable photons. The unprecedented dipole magnet intensity and length (9.5 T, 10 m) results in a projected sensitivity that surpasses astrophysical constraints on these particles for the first time, increasing the chance of discovery. The use of X-ray focusing optics and state-of-the-art detector technology has led to an extremely low background for an experiment above ground. Abstract

A description is given of a new experiment to measure the muon electric dipole moment (EDM) to between σ = 10-24 e - cm and 10-25 e - cm, which would be 5 to 6 orders of magnitude improvement over the current world average. Muons are stored in a magnetic ring. Precession due to Thomas precession and the magnetic moment are canceled with the proper combination of applied E and B fields. Only precession due to a non-vanishing EDM remains, resulting in a large amplification of the EDM signal.
