In dieser Arbeit werden kleinflächige, polymere Hart-Weich-Verbindungen, gefertigt im Spritzgießen, und deren Adhäsionsverhalten mit Fokus auf medizintechnische Anwendungen untersucht. Anhand von miniaturisierten Prüfkörpern wird die Haftung von thermoplastische Elastomere und selbsthaftenden Silikonelastomeren zu unterschiedlichen Thermoplastsubstraten analysiert. Oberflächenbehandlungen werden zur Haftungssteigerung eingesetzt. Außerdem wird der Einfluss von Sterilisationsverfahren und medizinischen Fluiden auf den Verbund ermittelt., Hard-soft combined polymers manufactured via injection molding and their adhesion phenomena are analyzed in this study with a focus on medical applications. Therefore, different thermoplastic elastomers and self-adhesive silicone rubber materials are combined to thermoplastic substrates. Miniaturized test geometries are developed and surface modifications are applied for increasing adhesion. Beneath mechanical bond strength, the effect of sterilization processes and medical fluids on the adhesion is analyzed.

This thesis treats two of the numerous adaptations of the Sherlock Holmes stories, scilicet the first two seasons of the television series 'Sherlock Holmes' (1984-94), and the two subsequent films 'Sherlock Holmes'(2009) and 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows'(2011). It explores the representation of the two main characters, Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson. The focus is on two main questions: - Does each adaptation base its respective interpretation of the main char-acters on the source material of Doyle's writing? - How do the two adaptations differ from each other in interpreting the two main characters? The thesis aims to test a frequent claim in adaptation studies: that adaptations of a common source can diverge from each other without losing authenticity and fidelity to their source. The analytical part bases its methodology on the knowledge gained in the theoretical section about adaptation, media-specificity and character analysis. Firstly, both adaptations have been thoroughly analysed concerning their character representations of Holmes and Watson. Secondly, the characteristics have been traced back to the source material, by testing if any quotation(s) in Conan Doyle’s stories can be found that might justify such a character representation. Finally, the two adaptations have been compared regarding their character representations of Holmes and Watson and the emphasis they laid concerning the two characters. The analysis has shown that, apart from two minor aspects concerning the character of Watson in both adaptations, all of Holmes’s and Watson’s characteristics in both adaptations can indeed be traced back to the source material. It has also been veri-fied that both adaptations emphasise different aspects of the characters. However, it did not confirm that the television series ‘sought’ to maintain fidelity to the characters’ actions and appearances, while the films ‘sought’ to maintain fidelity to characters’ inner worlds.

Purpose The purpose of this study is the generation of a thorough generic heart model optimized for direct 3D printing with silicone elastomers. Design/methodology/approach The base of the model design is segmentation of CT data, followed by a generic adaption and a constructive enhancement. The model is 3D printed with silicone. An evaluation of the physical model gives indications about its benefits and weaknesses. Findings The results show the feasibility of a generic design while maintaining anatomical correctness and the benefit of the generic approach to quickly derive a multiplicity of healthy and pathological versions from one single model. The material properties of the silicone model are sufficient for simulation, but the results of the evaluation indicate possible improvements, as for most anatomical features, the used silicone is too hard and too stretchable. Originality/value Previous developments mostly focus on patient-specific heart models. In contrast, this study sets out to explore the possibility and benefits of a generic approach. Standardized validated models would allow comparability in surgical simulation.
