Abstract

This article presents a comparative analysis of two prominent machine learning techniques for predicting electricity consumption in workplace lighting systems: polynomial regression analysis and artificial neural networks. The primary objective is to assess their suitability and applicability for developing an accurate predictive model. After a brief overview of the current state of energy-saving techniques, the article examines several established models for predicting energy consumption in buildings and systems. These models include artificial neural networks, regression analysis and support vector machines. It then focuses on a practical comparison between polynomial regression analysis and an artificial neural network-based model. The article then looks at the data preparation process, outlining how the data is used within each model to establish appropriate prediction functions. Finally, it describes the methods used to evaluate the accuracy of the developed prediction functions. These functions allow the prediction of lighting consumption based on external lighting intensity. The article evaluates the accuracy of the developed prediction functions using the root mean square error, correlation coefficient and coefficient of determination values. The article compares these values obtained for both models, allowing a conclusive assessment of which model provides superior accuracy in predicting lighting consumption based on external lighting intensity. Abstract

The paper presents a novel process and methods used in economic evaluation of project Motorway D2: Noise Barrier, Jarovce. The article describes technical aspect of construction of the noise barrier. It presents Motorway administrator's financial costs for the construction of this project. The effects are described, mitigation of noise levels is presented and the calculation of noise affected people in the region is provided. The article describes two constituents of noise mitigation benefits: decrease in marked prices of estates in affected region and adverse health effects caused by the noise. Both are monetized in „Do nothing" and „Do something" scenario, „Do something" being the construction of 5,5 m high noise barrier along stretch of D2 and D4 in the vicinity of Junction Jarovce. Cost benefit analysis is conducted in Highway Development and Management Software (HDM-4) where monetized benefits are introduced as exogenous benefits of scenario „Do Something". Evaluation of this type of project is not common in the HDM-4 software, however, this article proves that this type of evaluation is possible, even though most of the monetization needs to be computed manually outside the software. Abstract

The main priorities of intelligent buildings are considered a minimum consumption of energy in achieving the highest possible comfort. For reducing of the cost of energy is required to use the cheapest energy available and it is necessary to focus on increasing energy independence. The way to achieve energy independence is the use of renewable resources. Therefore, there is a big motivation to continue to deal with developing the technology and equipment subsequent installation in households and industry. For such purpose was built the research center of the University of Zilina, which dealt in research in the field of renewable energies, interconnected to the systems that control of intelligent buildings. There is installed special firefighter systems for controlling and putting out fire in the offices and room where is situated data centrum. This article describes the different interconnection of systems for the management of the building, ensuring several kind of utilization of renewable energy sources used to produce electricity and heat for maintaining thermal comfort for all year.
