1990’lı yılların siyasi konjonktürü SSCB’nin dağılmasının devamında, demokrasi tartışmalarını ve bu tartışmalara bağlı olarak siyasal sistem-rejim tartışmalarını da gündeme getirmişti. Batı literatürünün de başını çektiği genel hava bir barış döneminin başladığını, demokrasi düzeninin oturacağını ve dahası liberal demokrasinin ön plana çıktığı bir düzen projesi çizmişlerdi. Batı’ya yakın ülkeler için bir Avrupalılaşma tahmini yapılırken, Orta Asya devletleri için İslami bir çizgi öngörülmüştü. Burada Gürcistan, Batı’nın Avrupalılaşacağına dair tahminlerinin hedefinde olmasıyla diğer SSCB ardılı devletlerden ayrılmaktadır. Bu çalışma Gürcistan hakkında bu öngörülerin gerçekleşip gerçekleşmediğini, Gürcistan’ın siyasi kurumlarını, sosyal ve siyasi yapısını, seçim sistemleriyle beraber bir Batı ülkesi olup olmadığını ortaya koymaya çalışacaktır. Bunu yaparken Batı’dan gelen desteklerin Gürcistan’ı gerçekten bir Avrupa ülkesi olarak Batı sistemine entegre edilme çabalarının samimiyetini de tartışmaya açarken, Gürcistan iç siyasetinin SSCB kalıntılarından kopmaya çalışırken ülkenin Batı ve Rusya Federasyonu arasında yaşadığı stratejik gel-git politikalarına da değinecektir

Amaç: Bu araştırma, nöbet sistemiyle çalışan hemşirelerin uyku kalitesi ile beslenme durumunun (beslenme alışkanlıkları, boy uzunluğu ve vücut ağırlığı, sağlıklı beslenmeye ilişkin tutumları) değerlendirilmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Yöntem: Çalışma, online anket yoluyla nöbet sistemi şeklinde çalışan 454 gönüllü hemşirenin katılımıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veriler; anket formu, Pittsburgh Uyku Kalite İndeksi (PUKİ) ve Sağlıklı Beslenmeye İlişkin Tutum Ölçeği (SBİTÖ) aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan hemşirelerin yaş ortalaması 29.7±7.7 yıl, beden kütle indeksi ortalaması 24.1±4.0 kg/m2'dir. Ortalama uyku kalite skoru 11.1±2.5 puan ve SBİTÖ skoru 72.5±10.1 puandır. İdeal düzeyde yüksek sağlıklı beslenmeye ilişkin tutumları olanların toplam PUKİ puanı, yüksek olanlara göre anlamlı derecede daha düşüktür. PUKİ puanı yüksek olan hemşirelerin nöbette öğün atladığı, öğünlerini atıştırarak tükettiği ve uykusunu yeterince almadığı saptanmıştır. Total PUKİ skorları ile yaş, nöbet sayısı, nöbette çay-kahve tüketimi arasında pozitif, SBİTÖ ile negatif ve zayıf korelasyon bulunmuştur.Sonuçlar ve Öneriler: Nöbet sistemiyle çalışmaya bağlı olarak yemek yeme ve uyku saatindeki değişiklikler hemşirelerin beslenme durumunu, uyku kalitesini ve biyolojik saatini olumsuz etkilemektedir. Bu bulguların, vardiyalı çalışmanın neden olduğu sağlığı olumsuz etkileyen faktörleri önlemeye yönelik yeni stratejilerin geliştirilmesi için önemli etkileri vardır. Bu stratejiler arasında nöbet sistemi ile çalışan sağlık çalışanlarına yeterli ve dengeli beslenme eğitimleri yer alabilir., Aim: This study was conducted to evaluate the sleep quality and nutritional status (eating habits, body height and body weight, attitudes towards healthy nutrition) of nurses working as a night shift system.Method: The study was carried out with the participation of 454 volunteer nurses working in the form of a night shift system through an online questionnaire. Data were collected through the questionnaire form; the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and the Attitude Scale for Healthy Nutrition (ASHN).Results: The mean age of the nurses participating in the study was 29.7±7.7 years, and the mean body mass index was 24.1±4.0 kg/m2. The mean sleep quality score was 11.1±2.5 points and the ASHN score was 72.5±10.1 points. The total PSQI score of those with ideally high attitudes towards healthy eating was significantly lower than those with high attitudes. It was determined that nurses with higher PSQI scores skipped meals during night shift work, consumed their meals by snacking and could not get enough sleep. A positive correlation was found between total PSQI scores and age, number of shift, and consumption of tea-coffee during shift; negative and weak correlations were found with ASHN.Conclusions and Suggestions: Changes in eating and sleeping times as a result of working with the a night shift system adversely affect the nutritional status, sleep quality and biological clock of nurses. These findings have important implications for the development of new strategies to prevent health-related factors caused by night shift work. Among these strategies, adequate and balanced nutrition training can be given to health staff working with night shift.

Purpose: To adapt and validate the an abbreviated version of the Mindful Eating Questionnaire (MEQ-18) to the Turkish language for a Turkish adult population.Methods: This cross-sectional study included 709 participants aged between 18-65 years living in the province of Elazig. The data was collected through a voluntary face-to-face survey. The questionnaire was included their general characteristics and the MEQ-18 and Eating Attitude Test-26 (EAT-26). Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to test the validity of the MEQ-18. Statistical analyzes were conducted using the R-Project program and IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows 26.0.Results: The overall content validity index was 0.93. A confirmatory factor analysis was conducted for the two sub-scales and reduced the abbreviated of MEQ to 18 items. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was 0.718 for the MEQ-18 total factor scores and Cronbach alpha values for awareness, and disinhibition were found to be 0,843 and 0,789, respectively. The minimum discrepancy per degree of freedom = 4.914 and the model generally fit well to the structure (RMSEA = 0.074, CFI = 0.934, SRMR = 0.079, TLI = 0.925, GFI = 0.968, AGFI = 0.959).Conclusions: The findings of study showed that the psychometric properties of the abbreviated MEQ adapted into Turkish were acceptable through construct and internal consistency reliability.Level of evidence: Level V, descriptive cross-sectional study.

In this study, it has been aimed to evaluate nutritional status of university students during pandemic. In this cross-sectional study, 354 university students who were aged between 18-25 years were included. Students were contacted via an online questionnaire. Demographic characteristics, meal consumption, changes in food consumption, use of nutritional supplements and anthropometric measurements (body weight, body height) were questioned with a questionnaire form. 309 women (87,30%) student and 45 male (12,70%) student were included to the study. The most commonly used nutritional supplements were multi-vitamin/mineral and vitamin C (5,60% and 2,50%, respectively). Students stated that they changed the consumption of fatty and sugary foods and beverages in the pandemic. More than half of the students increased consumption of dark green vegetables (51,10%), fruit (fresh) (59,60%) and tea (54,80%). They skipped breakfast and snacks less, and skipped lunch more when compared to prepandemic period. More than half of them stated that they cleaned food and food packagings (78,50%), and made most of their food shopping (95,20%) from the grocery store. During the pandemic, it was determined that there were changes in the nutritional habits of the majority of university students, especially about the foods they preferred and their cleaning practices for foods., Bu çalışmada, üniversite öğrencilerinin pandemi sırasında beslenme durumlarının değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Kesitsel nitelikte olan bu araştırmaya, 18-25 yaş arası 354 üniversite öğrencisi dâhil edilmiştir. Öğrencilerle çevrimiçi bir anket aracılığıyla iletişime geçilmiştir. Anket formu ile demografik özellikler, öğün tüketimleri, beslenme alışkanlıklarındaki değişiklikler, besin takviyesi kullanımları ile antropometrik ölçümleri (vücut ağırlığı, boy uzunluğu) sorgulanmıştır. Çalışmaya 309 kadın (%87,30) ve 45 erkek (%12,70) öğrenci dâhil edilmiştir. En sık kullanılan besin takviyeleri multi-vitamin/mineral ve C vitamini (sırasıyla %5,60 ve %2,50) idi. Öğrenciler pandemi sırasında yağlı ve şekerli yiyecek ve içecek tüketimini değiştirdiklerini ifade etmiştir. Öğrencilerin yarısından fazlası koyu yeşil sebze (%51,10), meyve (taze) (%59,60) ve çay (%54,80) tüketimini arttırmıştır. Pandemi öncesi ile kıyaslandığında, kahvaltı ve ara öğünleri daha az, öğle öğününü daha çok atlamışlardır. Yarısından fazlası gıda ve gıda ambalajlarını temizlediklerini (%78,50) ve alışverişlerinin çoğunu (%95,20) marketten yaptıklarını belirtmiştir. Pandemi sırasında üniversite öğrencilerinin büyük çoğunluğunun beslenme alışkanlıklarında, özellikle tercih ettikleri besinlerde ve besinleri temizleme uygulamalarında değişiklik olduğu belirlenmiştir.

Objective:The aim of this study was to evaluate effects of fear and anxiety on nutrition during the COVID-19 pandemic.Design:Participants were recruited by an online survey in this cross-sectional study. The questionnaire included general demographic characteristics, level of fear and anxiety, and nutritional habits. The Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19S) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 test (GAD-7) were used to determine fear and anxiety.Setting:Turkey.Participants:A total sample consisted of 1012 adults.Results:In pandemic, fear and anxiety caused individuals to skip breakfast and snacks less, but more at lunch. A positive significant correlation was observed between the increased consumption of yoghurt, cheese and water and FCV-19S scores. There was a positive significant correlation between cheese, legume, nuts-seeds, cake-cookies, dessert and tea consumption and GAD-7 scores. A 1-unit increase in FCV-19S scores affected 1·04 times of increased consumption of yoghurt, kefir, cheese, nuts-seeds, fruit (dry) and rice-pasta. A 1-unit increase in GAD-7 scores affected 1·03 times of increased consumption of egg and fruit (fresh); 1·04 times of increased consumption of cheese and other vegetables; 1·05 times of increased consumption of milk, meat, poultry, fish, legume, nuts-seeds, fruit (dry), cake-cookies and tea; 1·07 times of increased consumption of rice-pasta and coffee and 1·08 times of increased consumption of bread and dessert.Conclusions:In pandemic, anxiety and fear led to changes in individuals’ nutritional habits and food preferences. Continuous surveillance of psychological consequences for outbreaks should become routine as part of preparedness efforts worldwide. In addition, the effects of these psychological problems on nutrition should be evaluated.

This study used cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) to evaluate the effects of a modified asymmetric rapid maxillary expansion (ARME) appliance on the upper airway volumes. Objective The Coronavirus disease 2019 is a global public health problem that has led to psychological disorders (depression, anxiety, etc.), especially in fragile individuals such as those affected by multiple sclerosis. This study investigated the relationship between anxiety and nutritional habits during the Coronavirus disease 2019 outbreak in multiple sclerosis patients. Methods This cross-sectional study was an online survey of multiple sclerosis patients living in Turkey. The total sample consisted of 294 multiple sclerosis patients. A questionnaire containing general demographic data, the Beck Anxiety Inventory, and nutritional attitudes and habits was applied to multiple sclerosis patients. Results Moderate or severe anxiety scores were found in 42.2% of multiple sclerosis patients. Weight gain was reported in 40.5% of them during the outbreak. A statistically significant difference was found in the distribution of individuals’ Beck Anxiety Inventory scores for consumption of nuts/seeds, rice/pasta, cake/cookies, and water. A 1-unit increase in Beck Anxiety Inventory scores led to a 1.04 times increased consumption of bread and rice/pasta and a 1.05 times increased consumption of cake/cookies either before or after controlling for potential confounders. A 1-unit increase in Beck Anxiety Inventory scores led to a 1.06 times decreased consumption of water and a 1.04 times decreased consumption of meat and poultry, fruit (fresh), and rice/pasta, either before or after controlling for potential confounders. Conclusion During the Coronavirus disease 2019 outbreak, anxiety led to changes in multiple sclerosis patients’ nutritional habits and food preferences. The continuous surveillance of psychological consequences and nutritional counseling during outbreaks should become routine as part of preparedness efforts worldwide.

Graphical abstract The aim of this study was to examine the reliability and validity of the Turkish version of the Caffeine Use Disorder Questionnaire (CUDQ) in an adult population. In this instrument validation study, a total of 310 individuals (253 female, 57 males), with a mean age of 25.96 ± 6.29 years were included. The questionnaire consisted of 4 parts, comprising the sociodemographic characteristics, CUDQ, caffeine withdrawal symptoms, and caffeine consumption. For the evaluation of the data, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), descriptive statistics, and the t test were used. In the reliability analysis, the Cronbach alpha internal consistency coefficient was 0.86, and the intraclass correlation coefficient was 0.83 for CUDQ. The CMIN/df was 0.54, and the model generally fits well to the structure (RMSEA = 0.08, CFI = 1, NFI = 1, GFI = 0.99, AGFI = 0.99, TLI = 1, NNFI = 1, RFI = 0.98). The findings suggested that the CUDQ has validity of structure, internal consistency, and construct validity for assessing Caffeine Use Disorder the tendency in the Turkish adult population. Covid-19’un kapalı ortamlarda kısa sürede yayılması ve insanların sağlığını tehdit etmesi sokağa çıkma kısıtlamalarına ve sağlık önlemlerinin alınmasına neden olmuştur. Bu önlemlerden biri de eğitim kurumlarının yüz yüze eğitim yerine uzaktan eğitime geçmeleridir. Uzaktan eğitime dâhil olan öğrencilerden bir kısmı Türkçeyi yabancı dil olarak öğrenen öğrencilerdir. Bu çalışmada 2020-2021 yılı bahar döneminde BAİBÜ TÖMER’de Türkçeyi yabancı dil olarak uzaktan eğitim yoluyla B1-B2 düzeyinde öğrenen 50 öğrencinin uzaktan eğitime yönelik görüşleri tespit edilmiştir. Öğrencilerin görüşleri iki sorudan oluşan yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile alınmıştır. Öğrencilerin uzaktan eğitim ile ilgili görüşleri, ‘öğrencilerin uzaktan eğitimi tercih etme durumları, uzaktan eğitime yönelik olumlu ve olumsuz görüşleri’ olmak üzere üç ana temada toplanmıştır. Salgın döneminde 50 öğrenciden 12’si yüz yüze eğitim yerine uzaktan eğitimi tercih edeceğini belirtmiştir. Öğrenciler uzaktan eğitime yönelik olumlu görüş olarak: “Virüsten koruduğunu, zamandan tasarruf sağladığını, kaliteli eğitim verildiğini, dersi tekrar izleyebilme kolaylığı sağladığını, daha az yorucu olduğunu, alternatif bir öğrenme yolu olduğunu ve daha ucuz olduğunu” belirtmişlerdir. One of these measures is the transition of educational institutions to distance education instead of face-to-face education. In this study, it is aimed to determine the views of 50 students who learned Turkish as a foreign language at B1-B2 level through distance education at BAIBU TÖMER in the spring semester of 2020-2021. The opinions of the students were taken with a structured interview form consisting of two questions. The students' opinions about distance education were gathered under three main themes: "the students' preference for distance education, their positive and negative opinions about distance education". According to the results, 12 students would prefer distance education. Among the positive opinions about distance education, the students stated that it protects against viruses, saves time, provides qualified education, ease rewatching the lesson, is less tiring, is an alternative method and is cheaper. Negatively, they stated that there are communication and interaction problems; it hinders socializing, there are internet and application problems, it causes low participation in classes, it does not support speaking and writing skills of students adequately, problem of focusing on the lesson arises, lessons are boring, it hinders collaborative learning, it is unhealthy, it causes speaking anxiety, it is expensive and the exams are not sufficiently reliable.

PurposeIt was aimed to examine the reliability and validity of the Orthorexia Nervosa Inventory (ONI) the Turkish version in a large adult population.MethodsIn this cross-sectional study, 710 individuals were included between the ages of 18–65 years living in Turkey. Individuals were reached via an online questionnaire (including ONI, Eating Attitudes Test-26 (EAT-26) and sociodemographic characteristics). Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was used to test the validity of ONI. ONI contains three sub-factors (behaviors, emotions and impairments). Analyzes were made with Lisrel 8.80 program and Statistical Package for Social Sciences 22.0 package program.ResultsThe Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was 0.906 for ONI total factor scores and Cronbach’s alpha values for “behaviours”, “impairements”, and “emotions” were found to be 0.821, 0.842, and 0.809, respectively. Confirmatory factor analysis performed supported the three-factor structure of the ONI obtained in the first sample. The CMIN / df = 5.65 and the model generally fits well to the structure (RMSEA = 0.081, CFI = 0.94, NFI = 0.91, GFI = 0.86, AGFI = 0.83). A positive and moderate relationship (r = 0.418) was found between ONI and EAT-26. A positive and low level (r = 0.160) correlation was found between ONI and body mass index. There is no statistically significant difference between ONI scores according to gender (p = 0.22).ConclusionThe findings suggest Turkish version of the ONI is a valid and reliable scale for determining the tendency for orthorexia nervosa in Turkish adult population.Level of evidenceLevel V, descriptive cross-sectional study

The CFA performed supported the three-factor structure of the ONI obtained in the first sample. The minimum discrepancy per degree of freedom = 5.65 and the model generally fit well to the structure (RMSEA = 0.08, CFI = 0.94, NFI = 0.93, SRMR = 0.07, IFI = 0.94). A positive and moderate relationship (r = 0.42) was found between the ONI and EAT-26. A positive and low level (r = 0.16) correlation was found between the ONI and body mass index. There was no statistically significant difference between the ONI scores according to gender (p = 0.22). The findings suggested that the Turkish version of the ONI is a valid and reliable scale for determining the tendency for ON in a Turkish adult population. Fen eğitiminin öncelikli amaçlarından biri öğrencilerin değişen dünyaya en yüksek düzeyde uyum sağlamalarını gerçekleştirmektir. Bu bağlamda sınıfta yaratıcı düşünen, özgün fikirler ortaya çıkaran araştırma ve sorgulama kabiliyeti olan ayrıca öğrencilerin aktif katılımını sağlayan yaklaşımlar kullanılması, öğrencilerin fen bilimleri dersine yönelik ilgisini ve tutumunu artıracaktır. ASSURE öğretim tasarım modeli yaklaşımı, öğrencilerin etkin katılımlarını içeren materyal geliştirme ve öğretim sürecinde yer almalarını sağlayan öğretim yöntemidir. Bu çalışmanın temel amacı; Ortaokul 7. Sınıf Fen Bilimleri dersi Hücre ve Bölünmeler ünitesi Mayoz ve Mitoz Hücre Bölünmeleri konusunun öğretiminde ASSURE öğretim tasarımı yönteminin, mevcut öğrenme yöntemine göre öğrencilerin başarılarına ve motivasyonlarına olan etkisinin incelenmesidir. Bu çalışmada araştırma sonuçları ön test ve son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desenden elde edilen verilere göre oluşturulmuştur. Araştırmanın bağımsız değişkenini ASSURE öğretim tasarım modeli oluştururken, bağımlı değişken öğrencilerin akademik başarısı ve derse yönelik motivasyonu olmuştur. Yapılan bu çalışmanın örneklemini Kırıkkale İlinde bulunan bir ortaokulun 7.sınıf öğrencileri oluşturmaktadır. Deney grubu öğrencilerine işlenilen ünite boyunca ASSURE öğretim tasarım yaklaşımı ilkelerine uygun öğretim yapılmış, kontrol grubu öğrencilerine ise mevcut programa uygun öğretim kullanılmıştır. Her iki gruba deneysel işlemler başlamadan önce ve deneysel işlem sonunda "Mayoz ve Mitoz Hücre Bölünmeleri Ünitesi Akademik Başarı Testi" ve öğrencilerin fen öğrenimine yönelik motivasyonlarını ölçmek amaçlı "Fen Öğrenimine Yönelik Motivasyon Ölçeği" ön test ve son test olarak verilmiştir. Gruplar arasında akademik başarı farkı ve fen öğrenimine yönelik motivasyon farkı incelenmiş, verilerin analizi sonucunda deney ve kontrol gruplarının başarıları ve motivasyonları arasında deney grubu lehine anlamlı bir farklılık olduğu bulunmuştur. One of the primary goals of science education is to make students adapt to the changing world at the highest level. In this context, using approaches that make the students think creatively, reveal original ideas, have the ability to research and question, and ensure active participation of students in the classroom will increase students' interest and attitude towards science lesson. ASSURE instructional design model approach is a teaching method that enables students to participate in the material development and teaching process that includes their active participation. The main purpose of this study is to examine the effect of ASSURE instructional design method on students' achievement and motivation according to the current learning method in teaching the subject of "Cell and Division Unit Meiosis and Mitosis Cell Division" in science lesson of Secondary School 7th grade.In this study, the research results were created according to the data obtained from the quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test control groups. ASSURE teaching design model is the independent variable of the research, and the dependent variable is students' academic success and motivation towards the lesson. The sample of this study is composed of 7th grade students of a secondary school in Kırıkkale Province. During the unit, the experimental group students were taught in accordance with the principles of ASSURE teaching design approach, and the control group students were taught in accordance with the current program. The "Meiosis and Mitosis Cell Division Academic Achievement Test" and the "Motivation Scale for Science Learning" were given to both groups as a pre-test and a post-test before and after the experimental process. The difference in academic achievement and motivation for science education between the groups was examined, and as a result of the analysis of the data, it was found that there was a significant difference in favour of the experimental group between the achievements and motivations of the experimental and control groups.

Bu arastirmanin amaci gorunume yonelik sosyokulturel inanclarin benlik saygisi, psikolojik saglamlik ve fiziksel aktivite duzeyini belirleyici rolunun incelenmesi olarak belirlenmistir. Rapid and accurate diagnosis of common diseases such as breast cancer that is common among women is of great importance. While this determination is made by specialist doctors, studies are carried out with machine learning algorithms to help them. Machine learning algorithms make inferences from existing data and predict what is unknown. Supervised machine learning algorithms used in classification of categorical data and of new data are frequently used in today’s problems. In this study, dataset with 357 malign and 212 benign created using the features of the University of Wisconsin by making some measurements in the mass images on the breast and the feature methods extracted from these features were used. After applying the necessary pre-processing and normalization steps for the dataset, the data was separated as training and test data and training was performed for six supervised machine learning algorithms (k-nearest neighbors algorithm, random forest algorithm, decision trees, naive bayes algorithm, support vector machines and logistic regression). In addition, the same operations were carried out by applying principal components analysis and linear discriminant analysis to the dataset. In this study, the accuracy values for all our models were increased after applying linear discriminant analysis and a success rate of 96.49% was achieved with Logistic Regression. It was aimed to select the appropriate algorithm and to obtain observation that will be the source of the next studies with the result to be obtained in this study.

Bu araştırmada, düzeylere göre (A1-A2, A2-B1 ve B1-B2) hazırlanmış, Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretiminde kullanılan okuma kitaplarındaki basit zamanlar, birleşik çekimler ve ek fiilin kullanım sıklıkları ve öğretim etkinliklerinin türü incelenmiş, bunların düzeylere uygunluğu belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırmaya veri toplamak için Yunus Emre Enstitüsünce hazırlanmış üç okuma kitabı seçilmiştir. İncelenecek kitaplar, rastlantısal örnekleme yoluyla belirlenmiş ve bunların içerik analizi yapılmıştır. İçerik analizi yapılırken 2 alan uzmanınca hazırlanmış 3 ana başlık ve 31 alt başlıktan oluşturulan çekimli eylem belirtke tablosu kullanılmıştır. Bu tablodaki başlıklar Maxqda nitel veri analiz programına kodlanmış; basit zamanlar, birleşik çekimler ve ek fiillerin kitaplarda geçme sıklığı belirlenmiştir. Daha sonra bu kitaplarda kullanılan etkinliklerin türleri belirlenmiş ve etkinliklerin sıklıkları hesaplanmıştır. Buna göre, okuma kitaplarında basit zaman ve birleşik çekimler en çok B1-B2 ve A1-A2; en az ise A2-B1 düzeyi; ek eylemler ise en çok A2-B1, B1-B2; en az ise A1-A2 düzeyi okuma kitaplarında geçmektedir. Okuma kitaplarında en çok kullanılan etkinlik türlerinin eşleştirme, sıralama (kontrollü yazma), boşluk doldurma, doğru kelimeyi seçme, doğru-yanlış soruları olduğu bulgulanmıştır. En az kullanılan etkinlik türleri ise çoktan seçmeli, var-yok soruları ve gönderim sorusudur. Etkinlikler daha çok bilgi-kavrama düzeyini ölçmeye yöneliktir. Sonuç olarak Türkçenin yabancı dil olarak öğretimi amacıyla hazırlanan ders kitapları, okuma kitapları ve etkinliklerin, düzeylere uygun dilbilgisel yapıları ve etkinlik türlerini barındırması gerekmektedir. Dil öğretim materyallerinin öğrencilerin dil düzeylerine uygun hazırlanması daha verimli bir öğretim sürecini de beraberinde getirecektir., In this study, the frequency of use of simple tenses, compound conjugations and substantive verbs in the reading books used in teaching Turkish as a foreign language, prepared according to levels (A1-A2, A2-B1 and B1-B2) and the type of teaching activities were examined, and their suitability to the levels was tried to be determined. Three reading books prepared by Yunus Emre Institute were selected to collect data for the study. The books to be examined were determined by random sampling and their content analysis was made. While analyzing the content, a finite verb signal table consisting of 3 main titles and 31 subtitles prepared by 2 field experts was used. The headings in this table are coded into the Maxqda qualitative analysis program; the frequency of simple tenses, compound conjugations and substantive verbs in the books has been determined. Then, the types of activities used in these books were described and the frequencies of the activities were calculated. According to this, simple tenses and compound conjugations are mostly used at B1-B2 and A1-A2 levels; at least used at the level of A2-B1; substantive verbs are mostly used at A2-B1, B1-B2 level; they are least used in A1-A2 level reading books. It has been found that the most commonly used activity types in reading books are matching, sorting (controlled writing), filling in the gap, choosing the right word, and true-false questions. The least used activity types are multiple choice, yes-no questions and submission questions. Activities are mostly aimed at measuring the level of knowledge-comprehension. As a result, the textbooks, reading books and activities prepared for the purpose of teaching Turkish as a foreign language should contain grammatical structures and activity types appropriate to the levels. The preparation of language teaching materials in accordance with the language levels of the students will bring a more efficient teaching process.

Amaç: Hasta kampı MS hastalarının sosyalleşmeleri ve hastalıkları ile ilgili sorunlarını azaltmak için gerçekleştirilen bir etkinliktir. Bu gerekçe ile kamp ortamının MS hastalarının beslenmelerini etkileyebilecek yeme tutumlarının nasıl etkilendiğini belirlemek amacıyla bu çalışma gerçekleştirilmiştir. In addition, it is effective for individuals to see reading as a need and to show interest in reading. The reading habit of individuals who are interested in reading as a necessity can be developed through both in-class and out-of-class activities and can become permanent over time. In the literature, there are methods, techniques and models related to reading habits that can be used by teachers and families in and out of the class. In this study, it is aimed to determine and classificate methods, techniques and models which improve reading habit and inform the teachers and families about how to use them. Research is a review study. In order to collect data for the research, articles, postgraduate studies and books made in the last fifty years were examined; The determined methods, techniques and models were examined in two main titles: in-class and out-of-class according to their application and fields. At the end of the research, it has been determined that there are 31 methods, techniques and models for developing reading habit. Three of them are individual in class; five with the in-class group; twenty-four are associated with out-of-class reading methods, techniques and models. Teachers, library and reading specialists, families at home can use the appropriate ones.

PubMed: 32470861 Objective: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of three different indices used to identify the effect of visceral adiposity on lipid profile markers in patients with multiple sclerosis. Methods: The study consisted of a total of 152 patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis who were aged 18 years and older. High-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-c), total cholesterol (TC), and triglyceride (TG) were accessed from the patient system. Patients’ height, body weight, waist circumference, and hip circumference measurements were also obtained. The effects of three different adiposity indices, including A Body Shape Index (ABSI), the Body Roundness Index (BRI), and the Visceral Adiposity Index (VAI), on plasma lipid profile in multiple sclerosis patients were evaluated. The data were analyzed using the R software and SPSS 21 statistical software package. Results: HDL-c was impacted by ABSI and VAI in males and only VAI in females (p < 0.05). An increase of 0.01 units of ABSI in males led to an increase of 5.88 mg/dL in plasma HDL-c level. In male patients with multiple sclerosis, LDL-c was positively affected by BRI and VAI changes (p < 0.05). One unit increase in BRI in males increased LDL-c level by 5.56 mg/dL, whereas 1 unit increase in VAI increased LDL-c level by 3.52 mg/dL (p < 0.05). Conclusion: This study indicated that these three different indices employed to evaluate adiposity were associated with plasma lipid profile. The effect of VAI on plasma lipids is higher than that of the other indices. In patients with multiple sclerosis, the use of these practical and non-invasive indices will be useful in assessing plasma lipid profile. © 2020 Elsevier B.V.

Erken Cumhuriyet döneminde, ulus-inşa projesinin en önemli ayağı tarih yazıcılığı çalışmalarıydı. Kuşkusuz bu alanda en önce akla gelen isimlerden biri de Fuat Köprülü ve onun milliyetçi tarih yazımına araştırmalarıyla sunduğu katkılarıydı. Mevcut dönemde meydana getirilen tarih kitaplarında Türklerin primitif dönemlerine vurgu yaparak tarihsel mit, milli ruh gibi vurgularla oluşturmaya çalıştığı tarihsel anlatısı içerisinde, John Armstrong ile başlayıp Anthony Smith ile devam eden etno-sembolcü yaklaşımın izlerini görmek mümkündür. Bu çalışma, Fuat Köprülü’nün milliyetçi yaklaşımını etno-sembolcü teorinin yaklaşımlarını kıyaslayarak aralarındaki benzerliği anlatmayı hedeflemektedir. Ayrıca aralarındaki benzerliklerden yola çıkarak, Köprülü milliyetçiliğinin etno-sembolist sınıflandırma içerisinde dahil edilebilecek önemli bir örnek olduğu iddiasındadır. Bu çalışmanın odak noktası tarihin ve etnik kökenin buluşma noktasını etno-sembolist açıdan değerlendirirken, Fuat Köprülü milliyetçiliğinin nasıl bir örnek teşkil ettiği üzerine bir tartışma açmaktır. Son olarak bu çalışma, Köprülü milliyetçi yaklaşımını Etno-sembolizm üzerinden açıklamak niyetinde olmadığından dolayı anakronistik bir hata içermemektedir

COVID-19 outbreak in the world has caused wide psychological effects and related concerns. Nonetheless, only a few studies have thus far evaluated the degree of fear of COVID-19, partially due to the lack of validated measures. This study was planned and conducted to study of the “Fear of COVID-19 Scale” adapted to Turkish culture which to measure level of fear of adult individuals Coronavirus Disease and developed by Ahorsu et al. (2020). In the study, over 18 years old adults has been achieved through a online questionnaire form who living in Turkey. 839 individuals were analyzed. In the first part of the questionnaire form, demographic features were questioned, and in the second part, Fear of COVID-19 Scale was applied. The scale is five-item likert type consisting of 7 questions. Whether there is a correlation between the items that is a prerequisite for the study factor analysis was examined by Bartlett Sphericity Test (x2 = 2770.755, p 0.5) and Cronbach alpha internal consistency coefficients (0.874). As a result of the analyzes, the adaptation of the Fear of COVID-19 Scale to Turkish is robust and can be used in research assessing the psychological impact of COVID-19 among a Turkish adult population.

Endemizm, bitkilere ait ekolojik sartlarin ve sureclerin kompleks bir yapida, zamansal ve mekânsal perspektifteki degisimlerinin bir sonucu olarak ortaya cikmaktadir. Bu acidan Turkiye 12.000 civarindaki bitki taksonu ve bunun icerisindeki 3/1’lik endemik orani ile Dunya’da degiskenlik gosteren ekolojik sartlara sahip onemli ulkelerden biridir. Sahip olunan endemik bitkilere ait bu zenginligin daha dogru tespiti, degerlendirilmesi, izlenmesi ve korunmasi ise oncelikle var olan endemik bitkilerin dagilisinin ve bu dagilisa dair ozelliklerin bilinmesi ile mumkundur. Bu calismada, Turkiye’deki endemik bitkilere ait lokasyon bilgilerinin, sayisal cografi veri tabani uzerine aktarilmasi amaclanmistir. Calisma amacina paralel olarak arastirmada bir dizi yontem izlenmistir. Ilk olarak endemik takson listeleri ‘Turkiye Bitkileri Kirmizi Kitabi’ndaki (Red Data Book) floristik listeler kullanilarak olusturulmustur. Daha sonra bu liste “Turkiye Bitkileri Listesi, Damarli Bitkiler” kitabina gore guncellenmistir. Bu listede yer alan endemik taksonlarin dagilisina ait lokasyon bilgileri ise Turkiye ve Dogu Ege Adalari Florasi (Flora of Turkey and The East Aegean Islands) eserlerinden yararlanilarak belirlenmistir. Belirlenen lokasyonlar cografi bilgi sistemleri yazilimlari ile sayisal veri tabanina aktarilmis ve boylelikle Turkiye’de endemik taksonlara ait 9677 lokasyon elde edilmistir. Elde edilen veri tabani ile Turkiye’ye ait bolge, bolum, il, flora bolgeleri ve Davis’in kareleme sistemi sinirlarina gore dagilislar degerlendirilmistir. Sonuc olarak; Turkiye’deki endemik bitkiler icin guncellenebilir, sorgulanabilir, iklim, topografya, litoloji, toprak ve biyotik faktorler gibi ortami olusturan parametrelerle sayisal ortamda mekânsal ve istatistiksel olarak analiz edilebilir cografi veri tabani olusturulmus ve tartismaya acilmistir.

Background: To evaluate association of lung cancer with arsenic and cadmium levels measured in tumor tissue. Materials and Methods: Ninety-five patients with lung cancer tumor tissue obtained surgically were included in this study. Arsenic and cadmium levels were measured and levels of metals were compared among types of lung cancer and with reference to patient data. Results: The histopathologic diagnoses of the 95 cases were SCC, 49, adenocarcinoma, 28, large cell, 11 and SCLC, 1. Mean tumor arsenic and cadmium levels were 149.3±129.1µg/kg and 276.3±219.3µg/kg, respectively. Cadmium levels were significantly associated with smoking (p=0.02), histopathologic type (p=0.005), and TNM staging (r=0.325; p=0.001), although arsenic was not related to any parameter (p>0.05). There was no relation between metal levels and mortality (p>0.05). Conclusions: We found a significant association between tumor cadmium levels of patients with lung cancer and smoking, histopathologic type and staging, although there was no relation with arsenic levels.

Bu araştırmanın konusu ilköğretim okullarında görev yapan 4. ve 5. okutan sınıf öğretmenlerinin üstbilişsel farkındalık düzeylerinin yaş, cinsiyet, medeni durum, kıdem, mezuniyet durumu, mezun olunan okul değişkenlerine göre karşılaştırılarak incelenmesidir. Bu amaçla Sivas ili Merkez okullarında bulunan 131 (47 kadın; 84 erkek) sınıf öğretmeni çalışmanın örneklemini oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Schraw ve Dennison tarafından geliştirilen ve Akın, Abacı ve Çetin tarafından Türkçe uyarlaması yapılan Biliş ötesi Farkındalık Envanteri örneklem dışı tutulan sınıf öğretmenleri üzerinde geçerlilik yönü sınanarak kullanılmıştır. Çalışma 2011-2012 eğitim ve öğretim yılında yürütülmüştür. Elde edilen veriler, SPSS 17.0 paket programında analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre sınıf öğretmenlerinin üstbilişsel farkındalık düzeyleri cinsiyet bağlamında bayan öğretmenlerin üstbilişsel farkındalıklarının ( x =211.74) , erkek öğretmenlerden ( x =209.35) daha yüksek olduğu görülürken; medeni durum ve diğer değişkenlere ilişkin (P>,05) anlamlı farklılık görülmemiştir. Araştırma verilerine dayanarak sınıf öğretmenlerinin üstbilişsel farkındalıklarına ilişkin bilgi ve kazanımlarının artırılması amacıyla hizmet içi kurslar düzenlenmesi gibi öneriler sıralanmıştır., The aim of this study is to compare and examine meta-cognitive awareness levels of class teachers teaching 4th and 5th grades in terms of age, sex, marital status, length of service, graduation level, the university graduated. To this end, a sample of composed of 131 (47 female, 84 male) class teachers working in State school in the city center of Sivas was used.In the study, Meta-Cognitive Awareness Inventory which was developed by Schraw and Dennison (1994) and adopted into Turkish by Akın, Abacı and Çetin (2007) was a used as a means of data collection after reliability coefficient was determined. The study was carried out in 2011-2012education year. Data collected was submitted to statistical analysis in SPSS 17.0 package program. According to the findings of the study, while meta-cognitive awareness level of female teachers was found to be higher x=211.74) compared to that of male teachers ( x =209.35), it was seen that there was not any significant ( P>,05) difference in terms of marital status and other variables. Some suggestions were made based on the findings of the study, one of which is to offer in-service training sessions to increase class teachers’ knowledge and attainments with regard to meta-cognitive awareness.

A T-to-G polymorphism (SNP309) at the promoter region of MDM2 has been recently reported to extend the Sp1 binding site that positively regulates the MDM2 transcription level and consequently, its expression level. MDM2 is the negative regulator of p53 tumor suppressor protein and elevated levels of MDM2 hamper the stress response driven by the p53 pathway. Whether MDM2-SNP309 was associated with breast cancer as a predisposing factor was investigated.A case-control study of 223 females diagnosed with breast cancer and 149 female controls sampled from the Turkish population was carried out and the T/G MDM2-SNP309 genotype of participants was determined.There was no significant association of the G/G or G/T genotypes with breast cancer risk (odds ratio (OR) 1.14, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.59-2.22, and OR 1.20, 95% CI 0.67-2.12, respectively). Stratification of the data for onset age or for menopausal status at the time of diagnosis also revealed no association for either group.
