Introduction: Suicidality is a growing problem in the US, and the emergency department (ED) is often the front line for the management and effective treatment of acutely suicidal patients. There is a dearth of interventions that emergency physicians may use to manage and effectively treat acutely suicidal patients. To the extent that recently described interventions are available for ED personnel, no review has been conducted to identify them. This scoping review is intended to fill this gap by systematically reviewing the literature to identify recently described interventions that can be administered in the ED to reduce symptoms and stabilize patients.Methods: We conducted a search of PubMed, SCOPUS, and CINAHL in January 2024 to identify papers published between 2013–2023 for original research trialing recent interventions for the effective treatment of suicidality in the ED. We assessed 16 full-text articles for eligibility, and nine met inclusion criteria. Included studies were evaluated for features and characteristics, the fit of the intervention to the ED environment, and interventional efficacy.Results: Four studies assessed the efficacy of a single dose of the anesthetic/analgesic agent ketamine. Three studies assessed the efficacy of a brief psychosocial intervention delivered in the ED, two of which paired this intervention with the provision of follow-up care (postcard contact and referral assistance/case management, respectively). The remaining two studies trialed a brief, motivational interviewing-based intervention. Included studies had strong experimental designs (randomized controlled trials) but small sample sizes (average 57). Among the interventions represented across these nine studies, a single dose of ketamine and the brief psychosocial intervention Crisis Response Planning (CRP) show promise as ED-appropriate interventions for suicidality. Ketamine and CRP demonstrated the strongest fit to the ED environment and most robust efficacy findings.Conclusion: This review identified one drug (ketamine) and four unique psychological/behavioral interventions that have been used to treat acute suicidality in the ED. There is currently insufficient evidence to suggest that these interventions will prove efficacious and well-suited to be delivered in the ED environment. Future studies should continue to test these interventions in the ED setting to determine their feasibility and efficacy.

BackgroundIndividuals with intellectual disabilities experience barriers to quality healthcare. To reduce this disparity, equipping medical trainees with the knowledge and skills required for treating this patient population is critical. Our aim is to describe the breadth of instructional interventions and identify gaps in intellectual disability medical education curricula.MethodUsing scoping review methods, the intellectual disability programmes described in 27 articles were evaluated and their coverage of the six core competencies on disability for health care education was examined.ResultsThe most frequently represented core competencies were disability conceptual frameworks, professionalism and communication, and clinical assessment, which were, in most programmes, fulfilled by activities involving individuals with intellectual disabilities. Uneven competency coverage warrants consideration.ConclusionsConsiderable variabilities exist in medical school curricula on intellectual disabilities. Using core competencies on disability for health care education for curricular design and evaluation would provide a coherent training experience in this important area.

Background: As Positron Emission Tomography use is increasing in veterinary medicine, personnel are potentially exposed to increasing levels of occupational radiation.Objectives: To estimate the average exposure received by veterinary personnel during an F18-FDG PET procedure by reviewing the existing literature in both veterinary and human medicine. Design:  Primary and secondary literature, including grey literature (conference proceedings), was collected in English from 1978 from citation databases: CAB Abstracts (CABDirect), Scopus, CINAHL(Ebsco), and Biosis(Web of Science) on 12 January 2024 utilizing Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines.  Data will be characterized from the study using tables and figures to describe protocol information, form of dosimetry, comparison/control populations, personnel role, animal species, average exposures, number of scans, duration of exposure, comparisons with other dosimetry or measures and reporting guidelines used in each study.

Objectives: This scoping review assessed systematic reviews on noninvasive temporomandibular disorder therapies to identify evidence gaps and formulate clinical recommendations. Method and materials: The scoping review was conducted according to the PRISMA scoping review guidelines and Joanna Briggs Institute updated scoping review methodology using a two-step process involving four reviewers. Four key databases (Embase, PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar) were thoroughly searched from January 2017 to December 2022. The selected systematic reviews were classified, charted, critically appraised, and synthesized. Results: Of the initial 522 listings, 61 systematic reviews were eligible for inclusion, with the majority bearing very low- to low-quality evidence, and metaanalysis not being conducted in about a third of them. Moderate- to high-quality evidence was available for patient selfmanagement, botulinum toxin, manual, laser, and splint therapy. Conclusions: Further high-quality investigations with consistent patient selection, diagnostic criteria, treatment/assessment protocols, and outcome measures are needed to confirm the effectiveness of the various interventions fortemporo-mandibular disorder pain/dysfunction. Social media has changed how sport organizations and individuals in the sport industry communicate and conduct business. The increase in the number, complexity, and capabilities of platforms provides ample opportunities and data for researchers to employ quantitative research methods. In this article, we provide an overview of the state of scholarship by conducting a scoping review of sport social media research published between 2010 and 2022 with a focus on articles based on quantitative data. We then critically discuss four areas that present opportunities for improvement—scope, theory, data collection, and data analysis. Based on these four areas, we introduce the social media research framework to guide future social media research in sport. Within the social media research framework, we outline three focal areas of research—people, spaces, and technologies—and suggest examining these areas simultaneously, rather than in isolation, as well as their intersections in the sport industry. Toddler milk is an ultra-processed beverage consisting primarily of powdered milk, caloric sweeteners, and vegetable oil. Pediatric health authorities do not support the use of toddler milk, and emerging evidence suggests that toddler-milk marketing practices may mislead consumers. However, studies have not synthesized the extent of toddler-milk marketing practices or how these practices affect parents decisions about whether to serve toddler milk. We aimed to summarize the literature about toddler milk to identify what is known about: (1) parents toddler-milk purchasing and feeding behaviors, (2) toddler-milk marketing, and (3) how marketing practices influence parents beliefs and perceptions about toddler milk. Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR), we systematically searched 8 databases (PubMed, APA PsycINFO, Scopus, Cochrane Central, Embase, CINAHL, Communication & Mass Media Complete, and Business Source Premier). We identified 45 articles about toddler milk. Studies were conducted in 25 countries across 6 continents. Five types of findings emerged: (1) consumption and feeding behaviors, (2) demographic correlates of toddler-milk purchasing and consumption, (3) misperceptions and beliefs, (4) increased sales, and (5) increased marketing and responses to marketing. The included articles suggested that toddler-milk sales are growing rapidly worldwide. Findings also revealed that toddler-milk packages (eg, labels, branding) resemble infant formula packages and that toddler-milk marketing practices may indirectly advertise infant formula. Purchasing, serving, and consumption of toddler milk were higher in Black and Hispanic populations than in non-Hispanic White populations, and parents with higher educational attainment and income were more likely to offer toddler milk to their children. Findings suggest a need for policies to prevent cross-marketing of toddler milk and infant formula, reduce provision of toddler milk to infants and toddlers, and prevent caregivers from being misled about toddler-milk healthfulness.

INTRODUCTION: The COVID-19 pandemic led to a dramatic increase in telemedicine use for direct patient care. Inequities in device/internet access can limit the extent to which patients can engage with telemedicine care and exacerbate health disparities. In this review, we examined existing literature on interventions designed to improve patient telemedicine access by providing digital devices including tablets, smartphones, and computers and/or internet connectivity. METHODS: In this systematic scoping review, we searched four databases for peer-reviewed studies published 1/1/2000-10/19/2021 that described healthcare interventions that provided patients with devices and/or internet connectivity and reported outcomes related to telemedicine access and/or usage. Data extraction elements included: study population, setting, intervention design, details on device/connectivity provision, and outcomes evaluated. RESULTS: Twelve articles reflecting seven unique interventions met inclusion criteria. Ten articles examined telemedicine utilization (83%) and reported improved patient show rates/utilization. Seven articles examined patient satisfaction with the interventions (58%) and reported positive experiences. Fewer articles examined health outcomes (17%; 2/12) though these also demonstrated positive results. Across included studies, study quality was low. There were no controlled trials, and the most rigorously designed studies (n = 4) involved pre/post-intervention assessments. DISCUSSION: Findings from this review indicate that providing material technology supports to patients can facilitate telemedicine access, is acceptable to patients and clinicians, and can contribute to improved health outcomes. The low number and quality of existing studies limits the strength of this evidence. Future research should explore interventions that can increase equitable access to telemedicine services. Background: Mechanical force skin injuries are common for critical care patients, especially neonates. Currently, identification and severity assessments of injuries are dependent on clinical experience and/or utilization of severity tools. Compared with adults, neonates sustain skin injuries in different anatomical locations and have decreased layers of healthy tissue (from 0.9 to 1.2 mm) creating questions around direct application of adult injury severity scales reliant on visual assessment. Aim: The aim of this scoping review (ScR) was to investigate severity scales used to report hospital acquired skin injuries for neonates. Methods: This study utilized the 2015 Joanna Briggs Institute methodology for scoping reviews and is reported according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‐Analyses for Scoping Reviews extension. PubMed, CINAHL, COCHRANE Central, Scopus, and the reference lists of included studies were searched for studies published between 2001 and 2023, that included severity scales use within neonatal population. Two authors independently identified studies for full review, data extraction, and quality assessment. Results: A systematic database search returned 1163 records. After full test review of 109 studies, 35 studies were included. A majority of studies included were cohort or action research and conducted in the United States of America. Most studies (57%, n = 20) reported skin injuries acquired throughout the body, 14 (40%) of the studies reported the nasal area alone and one study reported no anatomical location. A total of nine severity scales or combination of scales were utilized within studies (n = 31) and four studies did not report a scale. Various versions of scales from the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (n = 16), European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (n = 8) or Neonatal Skin Condition Score (n = 4) were reported, compared with locally developed classifications/scales (n = 4). Scales were predominantly of ordinal grouping (74%, n = 26) or categorical assessment (14%, n = 5). Only one scale from 2004 was validated for neonates. Conclusion: Neonatal skin injuries will continue to be reported subjectively until severity scales are consistently applied or other measurements are identified to support assessment. Additionally, without skin injury assessment uniformity, critical examination of effectiveness of skin care treatment practices will have subjective comparison. This review suggests there is a need for consistent skin assessment and severity scales that are valid for the neonatal population and their unique skin considerations. Relevance to Clinical Practice: In the context of neonatal skin, with its unique characteristics and heightened risk for injury, clinicians must stage, categorise, and describe injury locations to provide objective information on injury severity. Given the risk for injuries across the entire body, including mucous membranes, describing the depth of the injury is essential regardless of the anatomical site. Although not originally designed for this population, a modified version of the National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (NPIAP) classification system, which incorporates additional classifications (e.g., skin tears), remains the most applicable severity assessment system currently available. This should be supplemented by clinical images or detailed descriptive language (e.g., subtle redness) until rigorously validated severity and assessment scales, based on neonatal data, are developed—particularly for infants born at less than 27 weeks gestation. This review addresses the current knowledge on inclusive education suggesting that many studies focus on predetermined groups of disadvantaged learners . This review aims 1) to map the research on inclusive education for all (IEFA) and 2) to assess the consistency of studies in their approach to inclusive education (IE), research methodology and research results/discussions regarding the concept of IEFA. The analysis of 26 studies (out of 2,780 original datasets) revealed two main results: First, they represent three overarching themes of inclusion – values, practices and school development. They illustrate that beliefs about inclusive education and beliefs about practices are not always aligned. Second, the review highlights the challenges researchers face in describing a student population that includes representatives with diverse needs. While some researchers aim to describe students in detail, they often end up focusing only on those with common characteristics, usually disability. Consequently, the sample sections do not reflect the actual diversity of students addressed by IEFA. Only 46% of the studies are consistent in their approach, meaning, they conceptualise the broader concept of inclusion in theoretical approach, focus on it in methodology and interpret it in the results/discussions. Aims High diet quality is related to better health outcomes in general. During pregnancy, a high-quality diet is of paramount importance to promote optimal maternal and neonatal outcomes. This is a scoping review of research available on diet quality indexes (DQIs) for use during pregnancy that summarizes the DQIs in terms of development, country of origin, population used, components, scoring and weighting of components, and evaluation. Furthermore, the DQIs are discussed narratively to inform and direct the development of improved and country-specific DQIs for pregnancy. Methods The EBSCOhost database was used to identify English-language, peer-reviewed articles published between 2000 and 2023, from which 11 publications were identified that describe the development of pregnancy-specific DQIs. This review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews model. Results Almost all DQIs (n = 9 of 11) were developed in high-income countries, using dietary intake data from food frequency questionnaires. Several DQIs (n = 5 of 11) used the US Healthy Eating Index as basis and modified it in various ways. Almost all DQIs included both foods and nutrients as components (n = 9 of 11), with vegetables being the most commonly included component alone (n = 8 of 11) or combined with fruit (n = 2 of 11). Conclusion Because most DQIs were developed using dietary guidelines, recommendations, and dietary intake data from high-income countries, it is recommended that pregnancy-specific DQIs be developed and validated to reflect the nutrition guidelines for lower-income and culturally diverse countries. Purpose: A scoping review of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of parenting and family-based interventions that aim to reduce severe and persistent conduct problems among 10–17 year-olds. The review also examined feasibility for conducting a network meta-analysis of common therapy elements measured by RCTs. Materials and methods: The review adhered to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA- ScR). Searches were conducted in ERIC, PsycINFO, and MEDLINE without limits on publication year, language or publication country. Study methodological quality was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal Checklist for RCTs. Results: Twenty-five eligible RCTs were identified. The studies trialed nine interventions, with Multisystemic Therapy (MST) being the most evaluated (N = 10), followed by Functional Family Therapy (FFT, N = 4), and Treatment Foster Care Oregon (TFCO, N = 3). Only 10 of the 25 RCTs revealed treatment effect on conduct problems, including 6 of 9 MST, 1 of 4 FFT and all 3 TFCO trials. Discussion: Surprisingly few RCTs of parenting and family-based interventions have been carried out exclusively with this population. Available data suggests that MST and FFT have uncertain effectiveness for reducing severe and persistent conduct problems. While the quality of the reviewed studies was generally high, only two reported substantive data on common therapy elements. Conclusion: There is need for more RCTs of parenting and family-based interventions delivered for older children and adolescents with severe and persistent conduct problems. Many autistic people are unemployed. Of those who are employed, many are in roles that do not reflect their skills, qualifications and/or capabilities, and little is known about how autistic people progress throughout their careers. This study aimed to review and synthesise the existing evidence about career progression for autistic people. In total, 33 studies met the criteria for inclusion, though no study directly aimed to explore the topic. Our findings suggest that underemployment is common within the autistic population. Indirectly, we identified several potential barriers and facilitators of career progression for autistic people. Possible barriers included personal (e.g. gaps in education and employment history), relational (e.g. disclosing an autism diagnosis) and organisational factors (e.g. inadequate employment support). Adequate employment support was the most frequently discussed facilitator. Future research should seek to identify the most successful employment supports for autistic people over the long term to ensure that all autistic people are able to live – and work – in ways that are meaningful to them. Lots of autistic people are unemployed. Even when they are employed, autistic people might be given fewer opportunities than non-autistic people to progress in their careers. For example, assumptions about autistic people's differences in social communication might mean they are not given as many promotions. Indeed, we know that many autistic people are in jobs lower than their abilities (known as 'underemployment'). We reviewed 33 studies that tell us something about career progression for autistic people. Our review found that lots of autistic people want to progress in their careers, but there are many barriers in their way. For example, when they told their employer about being autistic, some people were given fewer opportunities. Research has also shown that autistic people do not get enough support to progress and that gaps in their employment history can make it difficult to progress. Our review suggested that good employment support (e.g. mentors) might help autistic people to progress in their careers. However, not much research has evaluated employment support for autistic people, which means we do not know how useful it is. Shared housing in the private rental sector (PRS) is becoming a globally significant household arrangement. However, research indicates that shared housing is associated with problems including financial and housing insecurity. Given the growth of shared housing in the PRS, it is necessary for policy solutions to appropriately address the needs of shared housing renters. This paper aims to investigate the relationship between housing policy and non-commercial shared housing in the PRS – that is, autonomous households in self-contained dwellings – and how this has been conceptualised and examined in academic scholarship thus far. To achieve these aims, we conduct a scoping review on non-commercial shared housing in the PRS. Research illustrates that the reality of shared housing is not accommodated well in existing housing policy systems. We analyse reasons that housing policy may not adapt easily to non-commercial shared housing, and outline the need for further research on policy implications and recommendations about shared housing in the PRS. Background: Obstetrical fistula is an abnormal opening between the reproductive tract and lower urinary and/or gastrointestinal tract resulting from obstetrical complications, affecting nearly two million women worldwide. It imposes physical, economic, social, and mental consequences on the affected women. Treatment outcomes vary and, mostly, surgical treatment results in improved quality of life and successful subsequent pregnancy for survivors. Objectives: The review aimed to chart and examine the treatment outcomes of obstetrical fistula surgical repair in low‐ and middle‐income countries. Search Strategy: This is a scoping review study to identify treatment outcomes of obstetrical fistula surgical repair in low‐ and middle‐income countries. The search was conducted from databases (PUBMED, Embase, CINAHL, Scopus, and Web of Science), and gray literature (Google Scholar, Google, and conference proceedings). Selection Criteria: The eligibility criteria were constructed using a participant, concept, and context framework and included study types of primary research, reviews, and reports. Studies without full text and in languages other than English were excluded. Data Collection and Analysis: The relevant characteristics of the included studies were extracted on an Excel spreadsheet and analyzed to chart treatment outcomes. Main Findings: The review examined the full text of 57 studies on the treatment outcomes of obstetrical fistula. The findings were grouped into two themes: early and late outcomes. The early outcomes included incontinence, surgical‐site infection, urine retention, hemorrhage, and retained catheter. The late outcomes included fistula recurrence, residual incontinence, quality of life, reproductive issues, mental health, family and social support, and financial status. Conclusion: The treatment outcomes of obstetrical fistula can be grouped into short‐term and long‐term outcomes. Although this review found adequate studies for the analysis, most study designs were poor. Stronger studies are recommended in the future to guide policy and decision‐making. We would like to suggest that researchers conduct systematic reviews and meta‐analyses independently for short‐term and long‐term outcomes. Palliative care is a comprehensive approach aimed at improving the quality of life of patients with serious illness and their families. Nevertheless, there exists a dearth of systematically synthesized empirical evidence regarding the key elements that contribute to good home palliative care (HPC) from a familial standpoint in the context of South and Southeast Asia. This paper aims to describe family perspectives on key elements of good home palliative care in both regions. We conducted a scoping review using Arksey and O'Malley's methodological framework. The search was done in 6 electronic databases: PubMed, Ovid MEDLINE, EMBASE, Web of Science, APA PsycINFO, and APA PsycArticles Full Text. Inclusion criteria were (1) exploring family experiences of palliative care, (2) home setting, and (3) South and Southeast Asian countries. Twenty-four studies were included from Bangladesh (n = 1), India (n = 6), Indonesia (n = 7), Malaysia (n = 2), Singapore (n = 2), and Thailand (n = 6). Five key elements of HPC from family perspectives were comprehensive moral and psychological support; religious and spiritual activities with religious figures involvement; empathetic, responsive, and continued home palliative care; adequate access to information and skills training; and facilitation in dealing with systemic barriers. The crucial role of religious and spiritual activities and the need for facilitation in facing systemic barriers were specific to South and Southeast Asia. HPC teams should be able to provide holistic support for patients and their families, which is influential for the quality of care. To identify and map the diversity and applicability of telemedicine in the obstetric literature, in the antenatal, intrapartum or postnatal period. This scoping review was conducted following the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodological guidelines for scoping reviews and reported according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) and its extension for scoping reviews (PRISMA-ScR). We searched the databases PubMed (Medline), CINAHL, CENTRAL (Cochrane Library), EMBASE Ovid and Scopus. We also searched Google Scholar, clinicaltrial.gov , the WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP-WHO) and the reference lists of the included studies. We included any primary study design that focused on a population of women in the antenatal, intrapartum or postnatal period. Studies selection and data extraction were performed blindly and independently by two authors. We summarised the results narratively and used graphs and tables to present key concepts thematically. We included 66 studies. We categorised the studies according to population, type of intervention, outcomes and user satisfaction. Most of the studies involved pathological (36%) and physiological (30%) pregnancy management, the type of intervention was mainly divided into televisits or video calls with professionals (43%) and the use of specific apps or devices (40%). The maternal outcomes studied were mainly quantitative, i.e., improvement in blood chemistry tests or vital parameters (65%) and treatment adherence (frequency of follow-up visits or keeping appointments, 27%). Patient satisfaction was positive in the majority of cases. There is still little international agreement on the concept and possible applications of telemedicine in obstetrics, although it is increasingly being used in clinical practice. Studies have shown positive results in terms of improved care, particularly in terms of treatment adherence and as an alternative strategy in the management of pregnancy, postpartum and abortion care. Both patients and health professionals were satisfied with it, especially when offered as a complement or alternative to the traditional method of face-to-face visits. Introduction: Active involvement of patients in healthcare professional education is well established, taking a variety of forms. There is a steer towards patient feedback informing the development of dental students and while there is recognition of its potential value to individual students, challenges exist related to collection and use. What is unclear is, within a dental education setting, the extent and use of patient feedback to individual students. A scoping review was conducted to assess and map the volume and characteristics of the research/literature in this area. Methods: Systematic searches of bibliographic databases Ovid MEDLINE(R), Scopus, ERIC and Embase were conducted, and wider literature (Google Scholar) was searched. Screening was conducted based on eligibility criteria and a customised data charting form was used. Results: The electronic and citation tracking searches identified 1021 studies. After duplicates were removed, 778 studies were screened by title and abstract, and 718 studies were found to be irrelevant to the current review. Sixty full‐text studies were assessed for eligibility, 46 studies were excluded, and 14 studies were included for data charting. Conclusion: This review has identified that patient feedback has been captured through both simulated and real patient encounters. There was a bias towards feedback generated through simulated patient encounters. Feedback was reported to support the development of a range of skills, most frequently communication and patient management. Background: An integral component of comprehensive temporomandibular disorder (TMD) treatment involves what is commonly referred to in literature as patient counselling or patient education. Despite its importance, a clear definition of the concept is lacking. Objectives: To describe the concept of counselling (i.e. what is it, what should it consist of, and when should it be given) through a concept analysis of the literature. Eligibility Criteria: All papers that include a description of counselling or education for TMD are included. Sources of Evidence: Literature searches were performed in the electronic databases PubMed, Cinahl, and PsycInfo. Charting Methods: A qualitative analysis was done using the principle‐based concept analysis approach, where descriptions of counselling from the included papers were analysed by the researchers. Results: A total of 71 articles were included. Based on the qualitative analysis of the included articles and descriptions of counselling, the following content themes were identified: (1) general information on TMD; (2) overuse of the masticatory system; (3) posture education; (4) lifestyle and psychosocial factors; (5) exercise‐ and thermotherapy; and (6) additional information and therapies. Aim: To describe how clinicians provide culturally responsive care to culturally diverse people with kidney failure in haemodialysis centres. Background: Culturally diverse individuals receiving in‐centre maintenance haemodialysis have unique cultural needs. Unmet cultural needs can impair and profoundly affect their experiences. Given culturally responsive care has the potential to enhance the experiences of culturally diverse people, it is vital to understand how clinicians provide culturally responsive care. Method: A scoping review was undertaken using Arksey and OMalleys framework. Five databases: Medline and CINAHL Complete (EBSCO), PsycINFO, Embase (OVID) and ProQuest Theses and Dissertation databases were searched for research literature published in English between 1990 and 2023. Narrative synthesis was used to synthesise the data. Results: From the 17,271 records screened, 17 papers reporting 14 studies met the inclusion criteria. Narrative synthesis revealed two themes: (i) communication enablers and barriers including linguistic differences, professional and lay interpreter use; and (ii) the importance of culture, which encompassed acknowledging cultural priorities, accommodating cultural food preferences and access to cultural training. Conclusion: While competing priorities associated with haemodialysis may be a challenge for clinicians, recognising the significance of cultural care needs and accommodating them in care is important. Demonstrating respect towards cultural diversity and providing person‐centred care by facilitating the unique cultural needs of people with kidney failure in haemodialysis is imperative. Aim and Objective: This study aims to scrutinize the interconnected concepts, prevailing landscape and efficacy of personalized nursing within the framework of blockchain technology and to proffer a roadmap for prospective scholarly inquiries. Background: The ethos of personalized nursing as a paradigm grounded in human‐centered care has been venerated as the pinnacle of nursing practice. Recent years have witnessed the emergence of groundbreaking technologies, notably blockchain, which have set the stage for the actualization of personalized nursing care. Nevertheless, a lacuna persists in the holistic comprehension surrounding the integration of blockchain technology within the domain of personalized nursing. Design and Methods: We considered studies published in English from 2018 to the present. Databases searched included CINAHL, Pubmed, MEDLINE, Scopus. Sources of grey literature that were searched included ProQuest Dissertations and Theses. The eligibility of the studies was independently appraised by a pair of researchers. The findings are delineated through narratives and tabular presentations. Results: The narrative findings are stratified into three primary domains: (1) the theoretical underpinnings of personalized nursing vis‐à‐vis the integration of blockchain technology; (2) delineation of the specific domains within nursing where blockchain applications are germane to personalized nursing; and (3) the demonstrable impact of blockchain technology on the efficacy of personalized nursing. Conclusion: Blockchain technology has wrought profound transformations in the landscape of personalized nursing. Background: In the last two decades, a number of empirical studies investigated the impact of UK‐based interventions for struggling readers in later primary years (called Key Stage 2 or KS2 in the UK). However, to date, there are no reviews that look at the extent and nature of the existing UK‐based literature. This scoping review explores the extent of the available literature focusing on struggling readers in KS2 and aims to summarise the findings of available research. Methods: A scoping review methodology was used, and six databases were searched from 2000 to 2022. The initial search yielded 1236 studies, of which 24 met the eligibility criteria and were included in this review. Results: Most of the included studies (21 out of 24) demonstrated positive outcomes, and the support provided led to improvement in the reading skills of struggling readers in KS2. The available intervention programmes included a wide range of intensity, varied group sizes and targeted different reading skills. There is currently insufficient evidence to suggest the relative efficacy of one intervention over another. Conclusions: The review confirmed the need for more robust research in this area and highlighted the importance of learning lessons from the international evidence base. Purpose: This scoping review article examined research on information behavior in communities over the past two decades (2000–2023). The review aims to uncover the characteristics and types of communities studied, the featured information behaviors, and the research methods employed. Design/methodology/approach: The PRISMA-ScR guidelines were followed to conduct this review. Five databases were selected to search for relevant empirical research. A total of 57 studies met the inclusion criteria for review. Thematic synthesis was used to analyze the multidimensional findings of included studies. Findings: A steady increase in the number of articles is evident in the past two decades. The review suggests that information behavior in community studies involved collaboration from other disciplines, such as public health and business management. More than half of the communities studied are virtual communities (56.1%), followed by communities of identity, professional communities and support communities, communities of interest, geographic communities, and academic communities. There are overlaps among these categories. Information sharing (63.2%) and information seeking (57.9%) were the most studied behavior of communities, followed by information use, information needs, and information judgment. Questionnaires (38.6%) and interviews (35.1%) were the most commonly used data collection techniques in studying information behavior in communities. It is noteworthy that eleven (19.3%) mentioned utilizing community-engaged approaches. Originality/value: This is the first scoping review to explore the intersecting constructs of community research and information behavior studies. We call for further research to understand the contextual factors that shape the community's information environments and to increase awareness of the partnership between communities and researchers. To identify and synthesise the content of knee bracing interventions in randomised controlled trials (RCTs) of knee osteoarthritis (OA). In this scoping review, three electronic databases (PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane) were searched up to 10th June 2024. Nineteen previous systematic reviews of knee bracing for knee OA and four recent international clinical practice guidelines were also hand searched. Identified studies were screened for eligibility by two independent reviewers. Information on bracing interventions was extracted from included RCT reports, informed by Template for Intervention Description and Replication (TIDieR) guidelines. Data were synthesised narratively. Thirty-one RCTs testing 47 different bracing interventions were included. Braces were broadly grouped as valgus/varus, patellofemoral, sleeve, neutral hinged, or control/placebo knee braces. Brace manufacturer and models varied, as did amount of recommended brace use. Only three interventions specifically targeted brace adherence. Information on brace providers, setting, number of treatment sessions, and intervention modification over time was poorly reported. Adherence to brace use was described for 32 (68%) interventions, most commonly via self-report. Several mechanisms of action for knee braces were proposed, broadly grouped as biomechanical, neuromuscular, and psychological. Many different knee brace interventions have been tested for knee OA, with several proposed mechanisms of action, a lack of focus on adherence, and a lack of full reporting. These issues may be contributing to the heterogeneous findings and inconsistent guideline recommendations about the clinical effectiveness of knee bracing for knee OA to date. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BACKGROUND: This scoping review aimed to identify the barriers, facilitators and benefits of returning to work following burn injury, outcome measures used, management strategies, and models of care. OBJECTIVE: To provide a comprehensive overview about working-aged adults returning to their preinjury employment after burn injury METHODS: We followed a pre-determined scoping review protocol to search MEDLINE, CINAHL, Embase, PsycINFO, PubMed, Scopus, CCRCT and CDSR databases between 2000 to December 2023. Papers reporting primary data from previously employed adults with cutaneous burn injuries were included. RESULTS: In all, 90 articles met the review criteria. Return-to-work was both an outcome goal and process of recovery from burn injury. Physical and psychological impairments were identified barriers. Job accommodations and modifications were important for supporting the transition from hospital to workplace. Employment status and quality of life sub-scales were used to measure return-to-work. CONCLUSIONS: Consistent definitions of work and measurements of return-to-employment after burn injury are priorities for future research. Longitudinal studies are more likely to capture the complexity of the return-to-employment process, its impact on work participation and changes in employment over time. The social context of work may assist or hinder return-to-work more than physical environmental constraints. Objective The objective of our research is to conduct a comprehensive review that aims to systematically map, describe, and summarize the current utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) in the recruitment and retention of participants in clinical trials. Materials and Methods A comprehensive electronic search was conducted using the search strategy developed by the authors. The search encompassed research published in English, without any time limitations, which utilizes AI in the recruitment process of clinical trials. Data extraction was performed using a data charting table, which included publication details, study design, and specific outcomes/results. Results The search yielded 5731 articles, of which 51 were included. All the studies were designed specifically for optimizing recruitment in clinical trials and were published between 2004 and 2023. Oncology was the most covered clinical area. Applying AI to recruitment in clinical trials has demonstrated several positive outcomes, such as increasing efficiency, cost savings, improving recruitment, accuracy, patient satisfaction, and creating user-friendly interfaces. It also raises various technical and ethical issues, such as limited quantity and quality of sample size, privacy, data security, transparency, discrimination, and selection bias. Discussion and Conclusion While AI holds promise for optimizing recruitment in clinical trials, its effectiveness requires further validation. Background: Healthcare professionals work in challenging environments with extended working hours and excessive workloads to provide high-quality care. However, they hardly get the time to care for themselves. Online mindfulness-based interventions—which are not restricted by time or location—can be a powerful strategy to help healthcare professionals. Objectives: This scoping review aims to explore the current evidence about online mindfulness-based interventions for healthcare professionals. Design: A scoping review was conducted. Methods: A literature search was conducted to retrieve articles published between October 2016 and March 2023 in seven databases, including backward and forward citation tracking from the included articles. Among 1,278 articles retrieved, 33 met the criteria for review. Results: Two-thirds of the studies utilized commercialized mindfulness programs (n = 22). Duration of the mindfulness interventions varied from 1 week to 4 months, and half of the studies used audio-guided programs. Online mindfulness-based intervention studies were targeted to reduce burnout (n = 26), and the majority reported reduction in burnout (n = 18). Conclusion: Most studies used individual audio-guided programs that warrant the use of diverse delivery methods such as video media, simulation, and virtual reality for interactions in the future. Although the literature has accumulated evidence for commercialized online mindfulness-based interventions, further studies are needed to develop and test tailored interventions for healthcare professionals. The Maternal Death Surveillance and Response (MDSR) system is designed to continuously identify and review all maternal deaths. It aims to help countries understand the scale and distribution of maternal deaths, identify their causes, and inform corrective measures to address the challenge. Despite the growing adoption of the MDSR by numerous low- or middle-income countries, its implementation faces various challenges, including legal ones. This scoping review was conducted to map legal issues and challenges that arise during the implementation of the MDSR. It adapted the Bain and Kongnyuy framework, categorizing legal issues into data, people, use of findings, and legal regulation. Literature was retrieved from seven databases, complemented by additional online searches. We included studies published in English between 2010 and November 2022 that report on legal issues arising during the implementation of MDSR. Out of 1174 studies screened, 31 were selected for review. The review highlighted the limited attention given to the legal dimension of the MDSR by the research community. It also documented the lack of adequate legal framework essential for the system's effective implementation. Inadequate safeguards for informational privacy and the lack of confidentiality reinforce a prevalent sense of being blamed, mainly among health workers. Consequently, widespread under-reporting and intentional misattribution of causes of maternal death, defensive referrals, and disengagement from the MDSR process were reported. We recommend that implementing countries regulate the gathering and use of MDSR data through appropriate laws and legally ensure that the MDSR data are only used for the intended purpose. Appropriate complaint-handling mechanisms are needed in health systems to prevent the misuse of the MDSR. Background: Small bowel obstruction (SBO) is a significant cause of surgery in adult horses presenting with colic pain. SBOs often require resection and anastomosis. While various techniques for intestinal anastomoses have been developed, it remains uncertain if any fully meet our clinical needs. Objective: To conduct a scoping review of publications on anastomosis techniques and outcomes for the treatment of SBO. Study design: Scoping review. Methods: A literature review was conducted using the CAB, Web of Science, Scopus, and PubMed databases. Peer‐reviewed scientific articles in English, published between 1992 and 2023, were included. A quality assessment was performed for potentially eligible articles. Experimental studies, case reports, and case series with less than five cases were excluded and relevant data on study methods and sample size were extracted and charted from remaining articles. Anastomosis type and outcome were reported for articles considered potentially eligible for meta‐analysis. Articles in which only overall outcome was reported or details on type of anastomosis were not reported were excluded for the final charting. Results: Of 3024 articles, 210 underwent a quality assessment. The most common study designs were case reports and case series (64.3%), followed by experimental studies (17.1%). After further exclusions, 104 articles met the inclusion criteria. In only 42 articles detailed data on type of anastomosis and relative outcome were reported. A total of 23 anastomosis types were reported for the treatment of SBO, with 6 different outcomes evaluated. Both short‐ and long‐term survival rates consistently exceed 70% for all types of anastomosis (jejuno‐jejunal, jejuno‐ileal, and jejunocaecal). Main limitation: Non‐English language studies and conference proceedings were excluded. Conclusion: The body of literature focused on surgical treatment for SBO exhibits low‐quality evidence. Several techniques of anastomosis were described for different pathologies. However, there is a lack of homogeneity in reporting outcome for each surgical technique. Furthermore, outcomes considered varied significantly among studies and were sometimes poorly reported, although success rates are generally high. While many psychological interventions encourage sustainable consumption by altering attitudes, these modified attitudes often do not result in sustainable choices leading to the need to test alternative interventions to facilitate sustainable consumption, such as priming. Priming uses stimuli that trigger nonconscious processing that influences decisions. Despite its popularity, studies that employ priming strategies in sustainable consumption research are widely dispersed across several conceptual domains. This article unpacks and summarizes different approaches to priming sustainable behavior by delineating theoretical and methodological perspectives in various contexts across diverse consumer characteristics. The method employed is a scoping review of 74 articles published over 23 years (2000–2022). The resulting review (1) provides an overview of priming in sustainable consumption, (2) highlights knowledge gaps, (3) identifies knowledge clusters, and (4) proposes a research agenda for future investigations. Primarily, this paper provides an integrated map that deconstructs how researchers have explored priming interventions to promote sustainable consumption and to enable the best, or at least, better practice. Marketing scholars wield untapped potential to expand research into the wellbeing of consumers with mental illness beyond existing clinical and medical perspectives, enriching the field with unique insights into consumer behavior, market dynamics, and strategic interventions. This scoping review maps over 50 years of research at the intersection of mental illness and marketing in business disciplines. We examine a corpus of 1064 peer‐reviewed journal articles using the population, concept, and context framework to integrate extant knowledge and identify research gaps. We present a comprehensive future‐facing research framework that highlights gaps at the consumer, market, policy, and society levels that marketing researchers are particularly qualified to investigate. Through a series of illustrative research directives, we highlight areas of opportunities for better understanding and addressing the interdependencies that exist within this complex and multidisciplinary domain. Background: In randomised controlled trials with efficacy-related primary outcomes, adverse events are collected to monitor potential intervention harms. The analysis of adverse event data is challenging, due to the complex nature of the data and the large number of unprespecified outcomes. This is compounded by a lack of guidance on best analysis approaches, resulting in widespread inadequate practices and the use of overly simplistic methods; leading to sub-optimal exploitation of these rich datasets. To address the complexities of adverse events analysis, statistical methods are proposed that leverage existing structures within the data, for instance by considering groupings of adverse events based on biological or clinical relationships. Methods: We conducted a methodological scoping review of the literature to identify all existing methods using structures within the data to detect signals for adverse reactions in a trial. Embase, MEDLINE, Scopus and Web of Science databases were systematically searched. We reviewed the analysis approaches of each method, extracted methodological characteristics and constructed a narrative summary of the findings. Results: We identified 18 different methods from 14 sources. These were categorised as either Bayesian approaches (n=11), which flagged events based on posterior estimates of treatment effects, or error controlling procedures (n=7), which flagged events based on adjusted p-values while controlling for some type of error rate. We identified 5 defining methodological characteristics: the type of outcomes considered (e.g. binary outcomes), the nature of the data (e.g. summary data), the timing of the analysis (e.g. final analysis), the restrictions on the events considered (e.g. rare events) and the grouping systems used. Conclusions: We found a large number of analysis methods that use the group structures of adverse events. Continuous methodological developments in this area highlight the growing awareness that better practices are needed. The use of more adequate analysis methods could help trialists obtain a better picture of the safety-risk profile of an intervention. The results of this review can be used by statisticians to better understand the current methodological landscape and identify suitable methods for data analysis - although further research is needed to determine which methods are best suited and create adequate recommendations. Exclusionary discipline is a major contributor to school pushout and the school-to-prison pipeline, which criminalizes educational environments through processes and practices that often result in the incarceration of youth. While there is extensive evidence on the pathways and impacts of exclusionary discipline for students of color, its impacts on LGBTQ youth are understudied. This scoping review aims to identify and synthesize the existing empirical research concerning exclusionary school discipline of LGBTQ youth. Following the six-stage approach outlined by the Joanna Briggs Institute, an electronic search was conducted from a total of nine databases. Our search yielded a total of 740 results; of those, 10 met the inclusion criteria and were included in the final review. Findings indicate that LGBTQ youth, especially girls, experience exclusionary discipline at disproportionate rates. These youth are often disciplined as part of their own victimization, by both peers and adults in schools. While race and the need for intersectional understanding of LGBTQ exclusionary discipline were often touched on, most studies do not include race in their analysis. Future research that examines LGBTQ exclusionary discipline through an intersectional lens is needed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ABSTRACT Clinical supervision is a psychologically safe practice that aims to provide support and training for workers within the healthcare industry, including mental health nurses. Over the years, clinical supervision has been cited as a practice to improve workforce outcomes for both individual mental health nurses and the organisations they work in. The aim of this scoping review is to examine the evidence exploring the relationship between clinical supervision and workforce outcomes for mental health nurses. Twenty‐eight articles sourced from six databases were included in this study. The most frequently evaluated workforce outcomes were competence (n = 14), workplace culture (n = 13) and compassion (n = 7). Studies reported that the association between clinical supervision and workforce outcomes was predominantly positive, but there were mixed results for competence, workplace culture, job satisfaction and burnout. Details on the type of clinical supervision received by participants were limited, and most of the evidence included in this review included qualitative research and participants self‐reporting their perceived benefits from clinical supervision, as opposed to using validated instruments in experimental and/or longitudinal study designs. Organisations should be hesitant to implement mandatory clinical supervision within workplaces, as this could have the opposite effect on workforce outcomes for mental health nurses who are already time‐poor and overworked, as well as those who are indifferent or hostile to clinical supervision. Background: Inappropriate use of antimicrobials can push the environment out of balance, and cause unnecessary waste that can contaminate our soil, animals and waterways. Health professional education is committed to preparing students for antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) and supporting planetary health, but a more multidisciplinary action is needed to curb the expansion of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The aim of this scoping review is to showcase the current antimicrobial knowledge of undergraduate students across the disciplines of medicine, pharmacy, nursing, dentistry and veterinary. This will consequently showcase the gaps and trends across the different disciplines and countries to help inform planetary health multidisciplinary undergraduate curriculums. Methods: A search of the existing literature published prior to December 2023 was conducted using CINAHL, EMBASE, MEDLINE, SCOPUS, and ERIC databases. Studies were excluded if they included postgraduate students or discussed the knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of students towards antimicrobial prescribing, AMR and AMS related to a specific learning activity. Results: A total of 144 articles were included. The most represented countries were India and Pakistan accounting for 17% and 8% of the studies, respectively. Single-disciplinary research accounted for approximately 80% of the studies. Medicine was the most represented discipline in both single-disciplinary and multidisciplinary research, appearing in approximately 62% of the studies, followed by pharmacy appearing in approximately 30% of the studies and dentistry appearing in approximately 18% of the studies. Three major priority themes were identified: students are more familiar with the term AMR compared to AMS; inappropriate use of antimicrobials is seen as the main driver of AMR; and the need for more training and education in the field of appropriate antimicrobial prescribing, AMR and AMS. Conclusion: This review has highlighted that there is a need for more AMS interprofessional education (IPE) activities in all five disciplines, and especially within the disciplines of nursing, veterinary and dentistry, as shown by a lack of multidisciplinary research in this area. Most of the knowledge assessments have just touched the surface of AMS and focused on inappropriate antimicrobial use alone. Interdisciplinary planetary health education needs to go beyond these skills and broaden the understanding of other factors that can contribute to AMR such as inappropriate disposal, environmental contamination, monitoring and surveillance, one health, false allergies, and more importantly, how each health professional can contribute to a team. Introduction: Primary health care (PHC) is the most common model for providing primary care, and PHC services are the most common points of care that immigrants and refugees attend as a first step. Most immigrants travel to low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), yet only a few studies have examined their health conditions and their access to PHC in these countries. We have attempted to identify the barriers and facilitators that immigrants and refugees encounter when using PHC in these countries. Methods: We searched PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, ProQuest, Google Scholar, Microsoft Academic, and OpenGrey in this scoping review from its inception to the end of October 2023. Moreover, we manually searched key journals, reference lists, and citations from included studies to identify any missed studies. We extracted data from each selected study using a predefined form. Finally, a thematic analysis approach was utilized to synthesize the collected data from the included qualitative studies. Results: 17 qualitative studies were included in this review, which were from Iran (n = 3), Brazil (n = 3), Kenya (n = 2), Jordan (n = 2), Eastern Sudan (n = 1), Lebanon (n = 1), Bangladesh (n = 1), India (n = 1), Turkey (n = 1), Thailand (n = 1), and Malaysia (n = 1). Among the most common and important reported barriers are language differences, insufficiency of trained carers, unemployment, inability to pay the costs of hospital and medicines, no insurance coverage for immigrants, no clear referral and care system for immigrants, discrimination against women, and improper residence locations. Insurance coverage, awareness programs, and the study of immigrants' needs, along with their social and financial support from family, are among the most essential facilitators. Conclusion: For LMICs, funding is always a limitation, and increasing PHC utilization is the best choice for improving health. Knowing the challenges and facilitators of PHC utilization from the point of view of each stakeholder is a promising way to decide and make policies that can improve the health of both immigrants and refugees, as well as society as a whole. Psychological interventions are complex in nature and have been shown to benefit various clinical outcomes. Gaining insight into current practices would help identify specific aspects that need improvement to enhance the quality of network meta‐analysis (NMA) in this field. This scoping review aimed to explore methodological approaches in the NMA of psychological interventions. We searched PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane CENTRAL in September 2023. We included NMAs of psychological interventions of randomized controlled trials that reported clinical outcomes. Three independent researchers assessed the eligibility and extracted relevant data. The findings were presented using descriptive statistics. Of the 1827 articles identified, 187 studies were included. Prior protocol registration was reported in 130 studies (69.5%). Forty‐six studies (24.6%) attempted to search for gray literature. Ninety‐four studies (50.3%) explicitly assessed transitivity. Nearly three‐quarters (143 studies, 76.5%) classified treatment nodes by the type of psychological intervention, while 13 studies (7.0%) did so by lumping different intervention types into more broader intervention classes. Seven studies (3.7%) examined active components of the intervention using component NMA. Only three studies (1.6%) classified interventions based on factors affecting intervention practices, specifically intensity, provider, and delivery platform. Meanwhile, 29 studies (15.5%) explored the influential effects of these factors using meta‐regression, subgroup analysis, or sensitivity analysis. The certainty of evidence was assessed in 80 studies (42.8%). The methodological approach in NMAs of psychological interventions should be improved, specifically in classifying psychological interventions into treatment nodes, exploring the effects of intervention‐related factors, and assessing the certainty of evidence. Aim Methods Results Conclusions This scoping review aims to expansively review the reporting of Indigenous status, ethnicity, culture, language and country of birth in Australian paediatric clinical studies.Scoping review of Australian clinical studies, including randomised controlled trials, non‐randomised controlled trials, cluster randomised controlled trials and quasi‐experimental studies, with paediatric participants (<18 years) or mixed adult and paediatric participants. PubMed, Cumulated Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature and Embase databases were searched for clinical studies published 1 January 2018 to 28 November 2022.Of the 2717 studies identified in the search, 209 clinical studies were included. Overall, 131 (62.7%) clinical studies captured in this review did not report any of the variables of interest. When reported, terms used by study authors varied extensively and subsequently five study‐defined categories emerged ‘Indigenous status’, ‘race’, ‘race and ethnicity’, ‘ethnicity’, or ‘natural skin colour’. ‘Indigenous status’ was most reported (n = 37, 17.7%), followed by ‘ethnicity and/or cultural background’ (n = 15, 7.2%), ‘race and ethnicity’ (n = 4, 1.9%), race (n = 1, 0.5%) and ‘natural skin colour’ (n = 1, 0.5%). Furthermore, language used at home was reported in 27 studies (12.9%) and country of birth in 23 studies (11.0%).This review demonstrated very low reporting of Indigenous status, ethnicity, culture, language and country of birth in Australian paediatric clinical studies. Poor reporting has raised concerns surrounding generalisability of findings from these trials in addition to equity. The recent international shift encompassing improved clinical trial reporting requirements, for ethnicity and race, require prompt establishment in the Australian clinical trial domain. Background: Over the past two decades, the incidence of thyroid disorders has been steadily increasing. There is evidence to suggest that air pollution may be one of the etiological factors of thyroid diseases. This comprehensive review aimed to examine the evidence related to air pollutants and thyroid disorders and thyroid hormones levels from an epidemiological perspective. Methods: The scoping review adopted a systematic approach to search for, identify, and include peer-reviewed articles published in English. We performed a comprehensive search of three databases-PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science to identify relevant literature on the relationship between air pollution [particulate matter, nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3), sulfur dioxide (SO2)] exposure and thyroid disorders, including hypothyroidism, congenital hypothyroidism (CH), thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, autoimmune thyroid diseases, as well as thyroid hormone levels, such as thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), free triiodothyronine (FT3), and free thyroxine (FT4). Articles published until August 1, 2023, were included. Results: A total of 3,373 studies were retrieved, and among them, 25 studies covering eight different air pollutants were relevant. The most frequently studied air pollutants in this review included fine particulate matter (with fine particulate matter (PM2.5), n=21; inhalable particles (PM10), n=10; PM10-2.5, n=1) and nitrogen oxides (with NO2, n=13; NOx, n=3). The thyroid disorders and thyroid hormone levels most commonly associated with evidence of air pollution exposure were hypothyroidism (n=7) and TSH (n=12). Conclusions: Despite variations in study designs and exposure assessments, the findings consistently highlight the substantial health risks that air pollution, particularly PM2.5, poses to thyroid health, especially among vulnerable populations. Given that our study was limited to epidemiological investigations and the increasing prevalence of toxic substances in the environment, there is an urgent need for further research to elucidate the mechanisms by which these pollutants disrupt thyroid function and contribute to the development of thyroid diseases. Background: Oral Health Literacy (OHL), defined as an ability to obtain, understand, and apply information related to oral health, plays a crucial role in promoting effective oral health outcomes and behaviors. Given the pressing need to enhance oral health among older adults, this scoping review aims to summarize the impact of OHL on oral health behaviors and outcomes in this population. Methods: The authors performed an electronic search up through July 22, 2024. Among the 2,226 articles identified, the authors included studies in which the investigators evaluated the association between OHL and oral health behaviors or outcomes restricted to individuals aged 60 years and older. Thematic analysis was used to develop the domain for oral health behaviors or outcomes. Results: Among the 10 studies analyzed, significant correlations were identified between OHL and various oral health indicators, including periodontitis, the number of remaining teeth, dental prosthesis use, oral hygiene, oral health-related quality of life among men, as well as dissatisfaction with oral health (p < 0.05). However, the results were conflicting across the studies, indicating variability in the strength and nature of these associations. Additionally, OHL was shown to significantly influence oral health-related behaviors, especially the tooth brushing frequency (p < 0.05). Conclusions: This review highlights a scarcity of studies addressing OHL in older populations, suggesting that OHL has been deprioritized in efforts to improve oral health for this vulnerable group. Key gaps include the need for age-appropriate OHL assessment tools, stronger evidence linking OHL to specific oral health behaviors and outcomes, and the integration of OHL into broader health initiatives and research in older group. Introduction: To comprehensively identify and provide an overview of in vivo or clinical studies of nucleic acids (NA)-based vaccines against TB we included human or animal studies of NA vaccines for the prevention or treatment of TB and excluded in vitro or in silico research, studies of microorganisms other than M. tuberculosis, reviews, letters, and low-yield reports. Methods: We searched PubMed, Scopus, Embase, selected Web of Science and ProQuest databases, Google Scholar, eLIBRARY.RU, PROSPERO, OSF Registries, Cochrane CENTRAL, EU Clinical Trials Register, clinicaltrials.gov, and others through WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform Search Portal, AVMA and CABI databases, bioRxiv, medRxiv, and others through OSF Preprint Archive Search. We searched the same sources and Google for vaccine names (GX-70) and scanned reviews for references. Data on antigenic composition, delivery systems, adjuvants, and vaccine efficacy were charted and summarized descriptively. Results: A total of 18,157 records were identified, of which 968 were assessed for eligibility. No clinical studies were identified. 365 reports of 345 animal studies were included in the review. 342 (99.1%) studies involved DNA vaccines, and the remaining three focused on mRNA vaccines. 285 (82.6%) studies used single-antigen vaccines, while 48 (13.9%) used multiple antigens or combinations with adjuvants. Only 12 (3.5%) studies involved multiepitope vaccines. The most frequently used antigens were immunodominant secretory antigens (Ag85A, Ag85B, ESAT6), heat shock proteins, and cell wall proteins. Most studies delivered naked plasmid DNA intramuscularly without additional adjuvants. Only 4 of 17 studies comparing NA vaccines to BCG after M. tuberculosis challenge demonstrated superior protection in terms of bacterial load reduction. Aims: This scoping review aims to examine the level and outcomes of emotional labor in nurses. Background: Nursing is a highly emotional profession that requires nurses to experience a wide range of emotions and control their emotional expressions in nursing practice. Chronic emotional labor and emotional burden not only impact nurses' individual well‐being and professional performance but also their job satisfaction and turnover intention. Evaluation: This scoping review was guided by a five‐stage scoping review framework and the PRISMA‐ScR checklist. Eight databases were searched and 41 studies were reviewed. Key Issues: The Emotional Labor Scale and the Emotional Labor Scale for Nurses were the most commonly used instruments. Significant associations were found between emotional labor and 52 outcomes, which were categorized into two main themes: nurses' personal well‐being and organizational well‐being. There were 19 mediators and 12 moderators between nurses' emotional labor and 26 different outcomes. Conclusions: While the level of emotional labor among nurses remains uncertain, its consequences are plentiful and intricate. Studies have shown an important relationship between nurses' emotional labor and individual and organizational well‐being, which is crucial for nurse managers. There is a need to explore the positive effects of nurses' emotional labor and its impact on patients. Additionally, validation studies of the instruments used to measure nurses' emotional labor are necessary. Implications for Nursing Management: The insights gained from this scoping review provided a more comprehensive understanding of emotional labor for nurse managers. This knowledge can be utilized to design training programs on emotional management and to explore different interventions aimed at alleviating the adverse impacts of nurses' emotional labor. ABSTRACT Background Objective Methods Results Conclusion Nursing is historically, ethically, and theoretically mandated to champion social justice.To investigate how the concept of “social justice” has been explored in nursing research regarding extent, range, and nature.The five‐stage framework by Arksey and O'Malley was adopted, and JBI and PRISMA guidelines further informed the study. The search strategy comprised three steps: an initial search, a systematic search in several databases, and finally, a reference, citation, and gray literature search. A total of 55 studies meeting the inclusion criteria were included in the analysis.Almost all the included studies were authored in the English‐speaking world. Most studies were published from 2014 onward, and qualitative methods were by far the most prominent. A total of 13 specific definitions or understandings of social justice were identified. Five themes were identified across the included studies: (1) education, (2) concept, (3) theory, (4) public health and community nursing, and (5) maternal and child health.The literature on social justice and nursing is limited, albeit growing. We systematically investigated the application of embodied hyperscanning methodologies in social neuroscience research. Hyperscanning enables the simultaneous recording of neurophysiological and physiological signals from multiple participants. We highlight the trend toward integrating Mobile Brain/Body Imaging (MoBI) within the 4E research framework, which emphasizes the interconnectedness of brain, body, and environment. Our analysis revealed a geographic concentration of studies in the Global North, calling for global collaboration and transcultural research to balance the field. The predominant use of Magneto/Electroencephalogram (M/EEG) in these studies suggests a traditional brain-centric perspective in social neuroscience. Future research directions should focus on integrating diverse techniques to capture the dynamic interplay between brain and body functions in real-world contexts. Our review also finds a preference for tasks involving natural settings. Nevertheless, the analysis in hyperscanning studies is often limited to physiological signal synchrony between participants. This suggests a need for more holistic and complex approaches that combine inter-corporeal synchrony with intra-individual measures. We believe that the future of the neuroscience of relationships lies in embracing the complexity of cognition, integrating diverse methods and theories to enrich our grasp of human social behavior in its natural contexts. The lack of a shared, operant definition for greenwashing has led to fragmented scholarly research, unclear guidelines for practice, inconsistent enforcement, and reactive policy frameworks; resulting in ineffective efforts to combat its growth. Using concept analysis, this research establishes a composite definition for greenwashing by identifying the constitutive attributes sourced across 79 scholarly definitions. The analysis finds six requirements necessary for identifying greenwashing: a claim on environmental performance by a private sector organization marketing a product or a service, which cannot be substantiated, made with deceptive intent, and done to establish a competitive advantage. Fulfilling these criteria warrants an accusation of greenwashing. With the aim to prevent its further spread and misuse, the article provides a diagnostic tool for separating similar but often conflated concepts from greenwashing to organize scholarly research, provide guidelines for practitioners, and support regulators' case analysis. Climate change-induced natural disasters such as hurricanes, landslides, forest fires, and changes in precipitation directly affect rural sectors that depend on field production and other dimensions of everyday life. This generates the mobilization of people from their homes to safer places within the same country or across borders. There is a lack of information on the impacts of climate change on environmental migrants in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). This scoping review aims to describe the scientific evidence of the health effects of climate change on migrant in LAC. The review was conducted using databases from PubMed, Web of Science (WoS), and Google Scholar in English, Spanish and Portuguese. After screening the title, abstract, and full text of identified hits (n = 726), 31 records were finally included. Evidence indicates that climate change relates to health and healthcare, psychosocial and infrastructure dimensions among migrants in LAC. Health effects refer to limited access to healthcare, underdiagnosis, increased susceptibility to diseases and mental health conditions like stress and anxiety. Psychosocial dimensions refer to a heightened risk of sexual and gender-based violence, social marginalization, family separation, and loss of identity and culture. Infrastructure refers to environmental degradation and agricultural and urban infrastructure destruction. Multiple adaptations to these conditions are described among migrant populations in the region. Recommendations for improvements are presented. Background: Animal models focusing on neuromuscular outcomes are crucial for understanding the mechanisms of intensive care unit-acquired weakness (ICU-AW) and exploring potential innovative prevention and treatment strategies. Aim: To analyse and evaluate preclinical ICU-AW models. Methods: We manually searched five English and four Chinese databases from 1 January 2002, to 1 February 2024, and reviewed related study references. Fulltext publications describing animal models of muscle weakness and atrophy in critical illness were included. Detailed information about model types, animal species, sex, age, induction methods, outcome measures, drawbacks and strengths was extracted from each included study. Results: A total of 3,451 citations were initially retrieved, with 84 studies included in the final analysis. The most frequently studied animal model included rodents (86.9%), 64.3% of which were male animals. ICU-AW animal models were mostly induced by comprehensive intensive care unit (ICU) interventions (38.1%) and sepsis (51.2%). Most studies focused on limb muscles (66.7%), diaphragm muscles (21.4%) or both (9.5%). Reported outcomes primarily included muscular pathological changes (83.3%), electrophysiological examinations of muscles (57.1%) and animal grip strength (16.6%). However, details such as animal age, mortality data, experimental design, randomisation, blinding, sample size and interventions for the experimental group and/or control group were inadequately reported. Conclusion: Many preclinical models are used to study ICU-AW, but the reporting of methodological details is often incomplete. Although current ICU animal models can mimic the characteristics of human ICU-AW, there is no standard model. Future preclinical studies should develop a standard ICU-AW animal model to enhance reproducibility and improve scientific rigor in exploring the mechanisms and potential treatment of ICU-AW. Introduction: Debriefing is recommended after any coercive measure in psychiatry, but there are no well established standards, and its effectiveness remains unclear. Incorporating shared decision-making (SDM) into post-coercion debriefing interventions has potentially beneficial effects. Methods: This scoping review provides an overview of the general characteristics of such interventions and the extent to which SDM elements are already used in such interventions. Results: A total of 2562 references were identified in the scholarly databases Embase, PubMed, Web of Science, and PsycINFO. In addition, 14 articles were identified through manual searches of reference lists. 42 full-text articles were screened for eligibility, 13 articles met the eligibility criteria and were further analyzed. Discussion: No intervention tool was found that clearly included all SDM elements. However, three elements of SDM were present at least partially in all interventions: definition and explanation of the health care problem, the clarification of the patient's values and preferences, and a decision or explicit deferral of the decision. Further research is needed to systematically examine the implementation and clinical effectiveness of post-coercion debriefing interventions, particularly regarding the inclusion of shared decision-making elements.
