Abstract

High-resolution Fourier-transform spectroscopy using table-top sources in the extreme ultraviolet (XUV) spectral range is still in its infancy. In this contribution a significant advance is presented based on a Michelson-type all-reflective split-and-delay autocorrelator operating in a quasi amplitude splitting mode. The autocorrelator works under a grazing incidence angle in a broad spectral range $\mathrm{(10\,nm - 1\,\mu m)}$ providing collinear propagation of both pulse replicas and thus a constant phase difference across the beam profile. The compact instrument allows for XUV pulse autocorrelation measurements in the time domain with a single-digit attosecond precision resulting in a resolution of $\mathrm{E/\Delta E=2000}$. Its performance for spectroscopic applications is demonstrated by characterizing a very sharp electronic transition at $\mathrm{26.6\,eV}$ in Ar gas induced by the $\mathrm{11^{th}}$ harmonic of a frequency-doubled Yb-fiber laser leading to the characteristic $\mathrm{3s3p^{6}4p^{1}P^{1}}$ Fano-resonance of Ar atoms. We benchmark our time-domain interferometry results with a high-resolution XUV grating spectrometer and find an excellent agreement. Abstract

Several target reservoirs for Enhanced Geothermal Systems comprise hot, dry rock lithologies characterized by low matrix permeability. To improve the permeability of these formations and thus to increase the productivity of power plants, hydraulic stimulation is a common practice. For this purpose, water is injected into the reservoir, causing a local change in the effective stress state that can potentially trigger fault slip seismicity. However, seismicity can be triggered even during normal operation, as in the case of the Blue Mountain geothermal field, Nevada, USA. Here, a significant increase in microseismic activity is observed during the annual maintenance shutdown of the power plant pumps, suggesting more complex processes, such as poroelastic stress transfer, contributing to seismicity. To better understand induced seismicity and explore the underlying mechanisms, we conducted triaxial experiments on intact and faulted reservoir rock samples from the DB2 well at the Blue Mountain geothermal site and determined the effective pressure sensitivity of flow and poroelastic properties over a range of pore (, The 28th IUGG General Assembly (IUGG2023) (Berlin 2023)

The compact instrument allows for XUV pulse autocorrelation measurements in the time domain with a single-digit attosecond precision and a useful scan length of about 1 ps enabling a decent resolution of E/��E = 2000 at 26.6 eV. Its performance for selected spectroscopic applications requiring moderate resolution at short wavelengths is demonstrated by characterizing a sharp electronic transition at 26.6 eV in Ar gas. The absorption of the 11$^{th}$ harmonic of a frequency-doubled Yb-fiber laser leads to the well-known 3s3p$^6$4p$^1$P$^1$ Fano resonance of Ar atoms.
