LGN2018 is a grid file that shows Dutch land use in 2018 with a spatial resolution of 5m. The legend consists of 48 land use classes, distinguishing the main agricultural crops, forest, water, nature and urban classes. In addition to increasing the spatial detail (from 25*25m to 5*5m), the thematic detail of especially the nature areas has been greatly improved by, among other things, the use of multi-temporal Sentinel-2 images and the AHN2/3 dataset. In addition to the Sentinel-2 images and the AHN2/3 dataset, the following datasets were used to make LGN2018: Top10NL (version November 2018), Basis Registratie Percelen 2018 (BRP2018), Bestand BodemGebruik 2015 (BBG2015), BasisKaart Natuur 2017 (BKN2017), and LGN7. In addition, aerial photos from 2018 have been used. The dataset is public which is made possible by WOT Natuur & Milieu, Het Waterschapshuis, Interprovinciaal Overleg, RIVM and Wageningen Environmental Research.

LGN2021 is a grid database presenting the Dutch land use in 20218 at a spatial resolution of 5 m. The database has 51 land use classes, distinguishing the main agricultural crops, forest, water, nature and urban classes.LGN2021 is a continuation of the LGN 2018-2020 versions. However, next to the increase in land use classes from 48 to 51, the production method has also been modified. The production method of LGN2021 is as close as possible to Basiskaart Natuur en Landschap (BNL) (resolution 2.5 m, the same versions of the base files, the same derived files, class definitions are taken over as much as possible and unambiguous recording of LGN classes based on Multi Reclass Tool (MRT)). The following files were used to create LGN2021: Top10NL (version November 2021), Basis Registration Parcels 2021 (BRP2021), Land use database 2015 (BBG2015), naturemanagement types from Information Model Nature 2021 (IMNa2021), terrain elevation database ofNetherlands (AHN3/4), satellite images (particularly Sentinel-2) and aerial photos from 2021. Every year a newLGN version is published that shows the land use of the previous reference year. The development of LGN2021took place on a commercial basis within the Applied Spatial Research team of Wageningen Environmental Research (WENR). The file is currently used by, among others, the WOT, the RIVM, the provinces and the waterboards. Het bestand kent 51 landgebruiksklassen waarbij de belangrijkste landbouwgewassen, bos, water, natuur en stedelijke klassen worden onderscheiden. LGN2021 is een voortzetting van de LGN 2018-2020 versies. Echter, naast een toename van het aantal klassen van 48 naar 51 is ook de productiemethodiek aangepast. De productiemethode van LGN2021 sluit zoveel mogelijk aan bij Basiskaart Natuur en Landschap (BNL) (resolutie 2.5 m, dezelfde versies van de basisbestanden, zelfde afgeleide bestanden, overgenomen klasse definities en eenduidige vastlegging van LGN-klassen op basis van MultiReclass Tool (MRT)). Voor het maken van LGN2021 zijn onder andere de volgende bestanden gebruikt: Top10NL (versie november 2021), Basis Registratie Percelen 2021 (BRP2021), Bestand Bodem Gebruik 2015 (BBG2015), beheertypen uit Informatie Model Natuur 2021 (IMNa2021), Algemeen Hoogte bestand Nederland (AHN3/4), satellietbeelden (m.n. De ontwikkeling van LGN2021 heeft nog op commerciële basis plaatsgevonden binnen het team Applied Spatial Research van Wageningen Environmental Research (WENR). Het bestand wordt momenteel gebruikt door o.a. de WOT, het RIVM, de provincies en de waterschappen. Vanaf 2023 wordt het LGN-bestand als Open Data beschikbaar gesteld.

In mei 2020 publiceerde de Europese Commissie de plannen voor een Europese Biodiversiteitsstrategie (EBS) voor 2030. Op verzoek van het ministerie van Landbouw, Natuur en Voedselkwaliteit (LNV) en het ministerie van Financiën verkent het Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving (PBL), in samenwerking met Wageningen University & Research (WUR), in deze quickscan wat de mogelijke consequenties zijn als de momenteel meest concrete onderdelen uit de EBS voor Nederland zouden worden geïmplementeerd.

For the fourth time an external audit has been performed on the quality of the Key Register Topography (BRT). The following quality aspects have been rated: logical consistency, positional accuracy, temporal quality, completeness and thematic accuracy. Most of the quality scores are better compared to the previous external audit or are the same and without errors. The only quality aspect that does not meet the norm of 95% right, is the positional accuracy of the object class ‘Registrative area’. All other quality aspects meet the norm. Based on the findings, recommendations are made with regard to the data, the catalog and the methodology used for this audit., Er is voor de vierde keer een externe audit uitgevoerd op de kwaliteit van de Basisregistratie Topografie (BRT). De volgende kwaliteitsaspecten zijn beoordeeld: logische consistentie, positionele nauwkeurigheid, actualiteit, volledigheid en thematische nauwkeurigheid. Het merendeel van de kwaliteitscijfers is verbeterd ten opzichte van de vorige externe audit of is net als toen foutloos. Het enige kwaliteitsaspect dat niet aan de norm van 95% juist voldoet, is de positionele nauwkeurigheid van de objectklasse Registratief gebied. Alle overige kwaliteitsaspecten voldoen aan de norm. Op basis van de bevindingen worden er aanbevelingen gedaan met betrekking tot de data, de catalogus en de gebruikte methodiek voor deze audit.

This research for Rijkswaterstaat-WVL used the case study Noordwaard to work on the development of an instrument to map the delivery of ecosystem services in several RWS areas and to propose action perspectives and to give insight in synergies and trade-offs of measures., In dit onderzoek is voor Rijkswaterstaat-WVL aan de hand van de casestudie Noordwaard-poldergewerkt aan de ontwikkeling van een instrumentarium waarmee voor verschillende RWS-gebieden de levering van ecosysteemdiensten in kaart kan worden gebracht, handelingsperspectieven kunnen worden gegeven en synergieën en trade-offs van maatregelen inzichtelijk kunnen worden gemaakt.

Het doel van deze studie is het in beeld brengen van de vraag en het aanbod van de belangrijkste ecosysteemdiensten die worden geleverd door het huidige areaal natuur en groen in Zuid-Holland.

Voor het jaarverslag 2017 van Staatsbosbeheer zijn 4 ecosysteemdiensten in beeld gebracht. Een schatting is gemaakt van de omvang van levering van de diensten door terreinen in beheer bij Staatsbosbeheer. Geschat wordt dat de terreinen voor ca. 49 miljoen m3 bijdragen aan de jaarlijkse drinkwaterproductie in Nederland, een koolstofvoorraad hebben van ca. 38 Mton koolstof en ca. 4,8 kton fijnstof invangen.

Het onderzoek is uitgevoerd door Wageningen Environmental Research en onderzoeksbureau Debie & Verkuijl. De resultaten van het onderzoek naar de staat en onderhoudsbehoefte van groene rijksmonumenten zijn bij brief van 8 mei 2017 (TK 32 156, nr. 81) door de Minister aan de Tweede Kamer aangeboden. Kort samengevat blijkt dat 69% redelijk scoort, 20% goed, 11% matig en 0% slecht. Verontrustend is dat uit het onderzoek is gebleken dat van de beschermde groenaanleg in Nederland 30% totaal is verdwenen en dat 14% is aangetast. Grof afgerond betekent dit dus dat bijna de helft van de als groen aangewezen rijksmonument niet meer of nog slechts deels bestaat. Kanttekening hierbij is dat de beschrijvingen vaak decennia geleden zijn opgesteld en soms summier zijn. Controle is dus soms lastig. Het onderzoek betreft de instandhoudingsbehoefte van de onderhoudskosten om de groenaanleg door middel van sober en doelmatig onderhoud in redelijke staat te houden volgens de normen van de Leidraad subsidiabele instandhoudingskosten. De restauratiebehoefte is daarbij niet in kaart gebracht.

The GAES database (Version 01a) is a newly developed Global Agro-Environmental Stratification within the EU SIGMA (Stimulating Innovation for Global Monitoring of Agriculture) project. GAES will serve as a new agro-environmental stratification for better global monitoring of the agricultural production on the basis of Earth Observation data and crop growth models. It is anticipated that GAES will be exploited for a wider range of applications, some within SIGMA, towards data gap analysis that identifies agro-environmental strata with limited capacity and monitoring data on agricultural production. GAES was produced by applying segmentation techniques to newly available global agroenvironmental data with a high spatial resolution re-sampled to 1 km spatial resolution. The datasets were able to stratify the agricultural production zones according to the region’s agro-environmental characteristics, including climatic regimes, soil, terrain, elevation conditions, water availability and land cover proprieties. The GAES strata obtained by segmentation at four different spatial levels (with Level 4 as the most detailed) have been further characterised and described in terms of phenology (e.g. start and peak of the growing season), agricultural (water) management practices, field size, biotic constraints, national and sub-national crop production statistics, GDP, transport infrastructure conditions or market accessibility. The GAES database has four hierarchical layers, with 92 attributes. GAES Level 1 has 194 agro-environmental (AE) types (818 strata); GAES Level 2 has 300 AE types (1,688 strata); GAES Level 3 has 374 AE types (2,087 strata); GAES Level 4 has 516 AE types (3,208 strata). GAES typology is a combination of temperature, altitude, parent material and land cover characteristics. GAES Version 01 has become freely available.
