The present paper presents reflexions on a research process made with the colaborationof two quilombola communities of the Jalapão region (Central Brazil), Prata andMumbuca. Both are golden grass handifraft artisan communities, a traditional technicwhere golden grass scapes ares swen with buriti palm fibers. Even though the inicialgoal was the association of scientific and local knowledge, the research process broughtabout paths to exercise knowledge dialogue between both perspectives. Hence, theartisans perceptions were suveyed through qualitative research instruments, apllied withthe communities’s collaboration and participation. Among the data, quests about thespecies emerged. These were associated with the current scientific knowledge on thespecies and, also, inspired new projects on the species biology. At the end of the project,considering that the artisans shared their pesrpectives on the species, we brought themburiti palm and golden grass slades on the microscope, so they could observe the plantson our perspective. Finally, we experienced the development of a field methodologyaligned with dialogic processes between local and scientific perspectives on nature. O presente artigo apresenta reflexões sobre o processo de pesquisa de campo realizado em parceria com duas comunidades quilombolas da região do Jalapão, Prata e Mumbuca. Ambas são comunidades de artesãos de capim-dourado, uma técnica tradicional onde escapos de capim-dourado são costurados com fibras extraídas do buriti. O objetivo inicial de associar os conhecimentos locais com os científicos, ao longo do processo da pesquisa, se tornou uma busca por caminhos para exercitar o diálogo de saberes entre ambas perspectivas. Para isso, as percepções dos artesãos foi levantada através de instrumentos de pesquisa qualitativa, aplicados com a colaboração e participação de moradores das comunidades. Dentre os dados obtidos, ressaltaram-se indagações relacionadas às espécies. Estas, puderam ser associadas com produções científicas e, também, inspiraram novos projetos sobre a sua biologia. Ao fim do projeto e considerando que os artesãos compartilharam conosco suas perspectivas sobre as espécies, foram confeccionados, junto com eles, lâminas com cortes histológicos escapos de capim-dourado e da folha do buriti. A intenção era a de que eles pudessem observar as mesmas plantas, dessa vez sob a perspectiva da ciência, em microscópios. Por fim, vivenciamos o desenvolvimento de uma metodologia de campo alinhada à processos dialógicos sobre a Natureza, entre as perspectivas locais e científicas sobre a natureza.

No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2015-01-01 Comanthera brasiliana, C. magnifica and C. suberosa (Eriocaulaceae) are included in the Brazilian list of endangered species, due to intensive harvest and micro-endemism. These species form the clade of Comanthera magnifica, along with C. brunnea and C. linearis. Germination, seed morphology and post-seminal development were studied aiming to characterize all five species and to provide information for their conservation. Seeds were collected in “campos rupestres” of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Seed morphology was examined using scanning electron microscope. For germination tests, mature seeds were placed in Petri dishes lined with filter paper dampened with distilled water at 25 °C and fluorescent light; four repetitions with 15 seeds were performed for each species. For the anatomical analysis of post-seminal development, seedlings at different developmental stages were included in historesin, cut with a rotatory microtome and examined under a light microscope. The structure of the seed coat and the shape and size of the seeds were characteristics that allowed species differentiation, and based on the seeds morphological characteristics, an identification key is provided. The seed germination was high (> 90 %) and fast (< 7 days). Germination occured through the axis protrusion of the embryo. Approximately four days after germination, the first leaf develops and is followed by the adventitious roots. After 10-15 days, the second leaf and the new adventitious roots develop. In field conditions, the studied species occur in quartzite soils and their small seeds (dust-like type) germinate faster than the other Eriocaulaceae species (from mesic soils). These results provide reliable information that may contribute to the species management and conservation. The knowledge regarding of the diaspore and post-seminal development ofPaspalum L. is important for grassland biodiversity conservation, based on their representativeness and genetic improvement of forage. The morphology of the diaspore and the post-seminal development of Paspalum dilatatum Poir. (rhizomatous),P. mandiocanum Trin. var. subaequiglume Barreto (stoloniferous), P. pumilum Nees. (decumbent caespitose) andP. urvillei Steud. (erect caespitose) was described to distinguish species with different growth forms and to survey the characters useful for taxonomy. P. dilatatum differs by presenting oval diaspores larger than the others, with five prominent nerves and trichomes; P. urvillei presents diaspores with one central nerve that is more developed than the two lateral nerves and trichomes; P. mandiocanum var.subaequiglume presents diaspores with trichomes only in the margin; and P. pumilum differs by presenting glabrous diaspores. The caryopsis involves the seed that presents the differentiated embryo and disposed laterally, an elliptical hilum in all of the studied species and a rostellum in P. dilatatum and P. mandiocanum var.subaequiglume. The post-seminal development is similar in the four species and begins with germination that is marked by the emergence of the coleorhiza, followed by the coleoptile. These characteristics are common to other Poaceae previously studied, indicating a pattern to the family and do not distinguish the growth forms.

In this period, various vegetal species appear having different life forms adapted to the seasonality conditions of the rainfall regime. This work surveyed the adaptive anatomical structures of some emergent and amphibious monocot species occurring in these lakes. We studied the anatomy of roots, rhizomes, leaves and scapes of Cyperus odoratus, Oxycaryum cubense, Pycreus macrostachyos (Cyperaceae) - amphibious species; and of Echinodorus grandiflorus (Alismataceae), Eichhornia paniculata (Pontederiaceae) and Habenaria repens (Orchidaceae) - emergent species. The anatomical features of the dermal, fundamental and vascular systems confirming the tendency of the adaptive convergence of these plants to temporary lacustrine the environment include: single layered epidermal cells with a thin cuticle layer in the aerial organs; the presence of air canals in all the organs; few or no supporting tissues; and less numerous conducting elements and thinner cell walls in the xylem. The reduction of the supporting tissues, the number of stomata, which can even be absent, and the number of conducting elements and the degree of cell wall lignification in the xylem of the emergent species is more accentuated than that of the amphibious species. The pattern of distribution of aerenchyma in the roots of the studied species was considered important to distinguish between amphibious and emergent life forms. São Carlos
