--------------------Purpose: Determining the level of sense of belonging that affects the psychosocial health of the individual which is a basic human need will facilitate to evaluate selection of preventive, therapeutic and supportive interventions for this area. The aim of this study is to determine the validity and reliability of Sense of Belonging Instrument (SOBI) which has two sub-scales, Psychological Experience (SOBI-P) and Antecedents (SOBI-A), and is developed by Hagerty and Patusky (1995) by adapting it to Turkish.Materials and methods: The sample of research consisted of students (320), retirees (320) and individuals with depression (320) (n=960). Data collection was performed in Akdeniz University , Antalya Training and Research Hospital, Atatürk State Hospital, Fethi Bayçın Nursing Home and participants’ house in Antalya. Sociodemographic information form, Multidimensional Perceived Support Scale and UCLA Loneliness Scale were used in this study.Findings: Internal consistency reliability coefficient (Cronbach-α) and item total correlation analysis methods were used to evaluate the reliability of the SOBI-A and SOBI-P for each scale. Cronbach-α coefficients were found to be between 0,76-0,82 in SOBI-A and 0,88-0,91 in SOBI-P. As a result of the item-total correlation analysis, in the internal consistency analysis of SOBI-A after the 13th and 14th items were removed, Cronbach-α changed from 0,99-0,84 in all groups to SOBI-A. Group differences and external tests are used in to determine the construct validity of SOBI-A and SOBI- P scales. While there was a significant difference in SOBI-P between groups at the level of sense of belonging, there was no difference in SOBI-A. SOBI-A and SOBI-P were found to have significant correlations with social support and loneliness measurements. Results: These results show that the SOBI-P scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool and SOBI-A does not have this feature because it does not provide the structure validity.

PATIENT compliance , *DRUG utilization , *PSYCHIATRY , *HOSPITAL admission & discharge - Abstract
Introduction: Medication is the commonly used method of therapy in psychiatry. As noncompliance with medication necessitates repeated hospitalizations, this raises an annoyance both for the patients and their families. Therefore, it is important to determine of how the patients are using their medication and the reasons of inordinate medication usage from both the patients' and their relatives' points of view. This study have been conducted to demonstrate the conditions of the patients in terms of medication usage before hospitalization. Methods: The participants of this study was selected from the patients and their relatives whom were hospitalized in psychiatry clinics in Antalya. 390 patients and their relatives were accepted to participate. The data were obtained by using survey form. SPSS package program 13 was used for the evaluation of the obtained data. Results: According to the results of this study 3/4 of the patients were taking medicine before hospitalization. . Among these patients more than half of them (68.1%) declared that they have been taking their medicine regularly. The common reason for medication usage regularly was that they all beleived that "it was necessary" (Patients = 54.1% and relatives = 57.6%). It has been established that the patients' age, sex and educational background and patients' relatives' sex, age, marital status, family types and the properties of their inhabited areas have an effect on their points of view on taking medicine regularly. Conclusion: This study revealed that one third of the patients according to their denotions and half of the patients according to their relatives' statements do not take their medicines regularly. "The reasons that emerged by the end of this study for not orderly using medications" were thought to be able to eliminate with psycho-educational approach and by increasing the patients' coping capabilities.
