Six species AM fungi, namely Glomus fasciculatum , G. constrictum , G. intraradices sp., Gigaspora margarita , Acaulospora sp. and Sclerocystis sp., were used for the biological control of root-rot disease complex of chickpea caused by Meloidogyne incognita and Macrophomina phaseolina . Application of these AM fungi increase plant growth, pod number, chlorophyll, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium contents in diseased plants and also reduced nematode multiplication and root-rot index. G. fasciculatum caused greater increase in plant growth, pod number, chlorophyll, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium contents of pathogen inoculated plants followed by G. intaradices , G. constrictum , Sclerocystis , G. margarita and Acaulospora sp. Percent root colonization caused by G. fasciculatum was high followed by G. intaradices , G. constrictum , Sclerocystis sp., G. margarita and Acaulospora sp. Glomus fasciculatum also caused higher reduction in root-rot index, galling and nematodes multiplication while Acaulospora sp. produced the least. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Dysbiosis-associated molecular pathology is significantly involved in developing and perpetuating metabolic disorders, disrupting host energy regulation, and triggering inflammatory signaling cascades, insulin resistance, and metabolic dysfunction. Concurrently, numerous phytoconstituents are able to interact with the gut microbiota and produce bioactive metabolites that influence host cellular pathways, inflammation, and metabolic processes. These effects include improved insulin sensitivity, lipid metabolism regulation, and suppression of chronic inflammation, highlighting the therapeutic potential of phytoconstituents against metabolic abnormalities. We thoroughly scrutinize the leading pathology of myocardial infarction and contemporary alterations in miRNAs for their specificity, stability and significant prognostic value at the early stage of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Based on secondary data analysis, we explore common biomarkers and further investigate included miRNA biomarkers for their specificity, stability and area under the curve (AUC) values. A healthy life depends on the inseparable relationship between a host and the gut microbiota. A healthy gut microbiota regulates intestinal integrity, whereas an unbalanced gut microbiota contributes to junctional remodeling and leads to dysbiosis. Bacterial infiltration and dysbiosis are reported to activate a series of pathological cascades that trigger metabolic abnormalities, including diabesity. Conversely, recent studies revealed that the incidence of dysbiosis itself is fuelled by diabesity. In this review, we highlight the molecular aspects of multifaceted pathological signaling between dysbiosis and diabetes that could pave the way for new drug discovery. Moreover, to reinstate the gut microbiota and restrict the epidemic of dysbiosis and diabesity, we also scrutinize a promising therapeutic strategy that can challenge the pathological interlink., (Copyright © 2023 Elsevier Ltd. This study was designed to evaluate the pre-reproductive and reproductive responses of Linum usitatissimum L. (flax, linseed plant) to different levels of Pb in the soil. Flax seeds were sown in garden soil-filled earthen pots and treated with three different levels of lead as lead chloride (150, 450, and 750 mg Pb kg -1 soil) except control, and each treatment was replicated three times. Growth and reproductive parameters and photosynthetic pigments were significantly reduced ( p   ≤  0.05) for all treatments. Quantitatively, Chlorophyll b content decreased more than chlorophyll a and the amount of proline content in the leaves increased in lockstep with the increase of Pb levels in the soil. Pb was found in substantial amounts in the roots, shoots, and seeds. The pattern of Pb accumulation in different organs was root > shoot > seeds. Pb levels in seeds obtained from 750 mg Pb kg -1 soil-treated plants exceeded the permissible limits. Biological concentration factor (BCF), biological accumulation coefficient (BAC) and translocation factor (TF) values showed that roots of L. usitatissimum absorbed and accumulated a substantial quantity of Pb but translocated only a fraction of that to the shoots. Therefore, L. usitatissimum L. can be used in phytostabilization rather than phytoextraction of Pb.

Rapid utilization of nano-based products will inevitably release nanoparticles into the environment with unidentified consequences. Plants, being an integral part of ecosystem play a vital role in the incorporation of nanoparticles in food chain and thus, need to be critically assessed. The present study assesses the comparative phytotoxicity of nanoparticle, bulk and ionic forms of zinc at different concentrations on selected plant species with varying seed size and surface anatomy. ZnO nanoparticles were chosen in view of their wide spread use in cosmetics and health care products, which allow their direct release in the environment. The impact on germination rate, shoot & root length and vigour index were evaluated. A concentration dependent inhibition of seed germination as well as seedling length was observed in all the tested plants. Due to the presence of thick cuticle on testa and root, pearl millet (xerophytic plant) was found to be relatively less sensitive to ZnO nanoparticles as compared to wheat and tomato (mesophytic plants) with normal cuticle layer. No correlation was observed between nanoparticles toxicity and seed size. The results indicated that variations in surface anatomy of seeds play a crucial role in determining the phytotoxicity of nanoparticles. The present findings significantly contribute to assess potential consequences of nanoparticle release in environment particularly with major emphasis on plant systems. It is the first report which suggests that variations observed in phytotoxicity of nanoparticles is mainly due to the predominant differences in size and surface anatomy of tested plant seeds and root architecture.
