La present tesi doctoral planteja una aproximació analítica a la multiplicitat de relacions amb la llengua que han tingut –i tenen– les persones que van venir a Catalunya durant el procés migratori que va tenir lloc la segona meitat del el segle XX i com aquesta relació s'ha transmès de diferents maneres als seus fills i filles nascuts al Principat. Tanmateix, no es tracta d'observar els nivells de competència lingüística de les persones d'origen castellanoparlant, sinó posar de manifest la complexitat de la realitat lingüística de Catalunya i la importància del fet generacional en les diferents aproximacions que aquestes persones van mantenir i mantenen amb la llengua catalana. No es pot perdre de vista que el fet lingüístic s'insereix en un món complex, el de la configuració d'un marc de relacions entre els nouvinguts i el territori d'arribada. Un marc on cal tenir sempre present el context històric i polític on s'esdevenen les migracions, l'espai i el temps dels processos de resocialització i les condicions de possibilitat que envolten les trajectòries vitals. Aquest és el punt de partida d'aquesta tesi, la necessitat d'acostar-se a l'estudi dels usos lingüístics mitjançant la memòria i la història. En la mesura que l'eix principal d'anàlisi és la relació amb la llengua construïda per les persones castellanoparlants d'origen, aquest treball recull les vivències, les presències i les absències tant dels individus arribats a Catalunya fugint de la precarietat i la repressió, com d'aquells integrants de la generació posterior nascuts a Catalunya. És a dir, com les persones que tenen la llengua castellana com a llengua primera se situen en aquest context de coincidència de dues llengües, el català i el castellà. En definitiva, aquesta tesi s'enfoca des d'una lògica longitudinal perquè pren com a punt de partida un dels fenòmens més significatius d'aquest país, la immigració. Una immigració que amb el pas dels anys s'acaba conformant com un dels ingredients essencials, This thesis contemplates an analytical approach to the array of relations with the language that had –and still has– the people who came to Catalonia during the migration that took place the second half of the 20th century, and the way this relation was passed on in different ways to theirs sons and daughters, born in the Principality. Nonetheless, it does not intend to analyse the different levels of linguistic competence of the Spanish speaking persons, it means to show the complexity of the linguistic reality in Catalonia and the signification of the generational fact in the different approaches that these people took and take regarding the Catalan language. It cannot be forgotten that the fact that the linguistic fact is part of a complex world, that of the configuration of a relationships frame among the newcomers and the place of arrival. A frame where one has to always keep in mind the historical an political context in which migrations take place, the time and place of the resocialization processes and the conditions of possibility surrounding the life paths. This is the starting point of this thesis, the need to take an interest to the study of the linguistic use, through memory and history. The main analysis axis is the relation with the Catalan language built by the Spanish speaking descent people, so this work collects the life lessons, the presences and absences both from the individuals that arrived Catalonia fleeing from scarcity and repression, and from those integrated in the next generation, already born in Catalonia. That is, the way in which people with the Spanish language as main language is set in this context of cohabitation of two languages, Catalan and Spanish. In the end, this thesis is focused in a longitudinal point of view because it takes as a starting point one of the most meaningful of this country, immigration.
