This new statement frames the ethical, legal, and medical issues of permanent contraception in children, adolescents, and young adults with intellectual developmental disorder, emphasizing the importance of utilizing long-acting reversible and minimally invasive treatments, whenever possible. The historical use and abuse of permanent contraception is briefly reviewed, providing the foundation for ongoing ethical and legal considerations, including issues of informed consent. The authors then discuss medical decision-making and patient preferences that should be considered and make recommendations to providers who are contemplating permanent contraception therapies in this population. A dearth of healthcare professionals well-trained in the early identification and intervention of children with developmental and behavioral health concerns prevents attainment ot optimal developmental andbehavioral outcomes among children in Mississippi. Comb inedwitha history of uncoordinated efforts among agencies, these issues have resulted in an environment characterized by redundancy, inefficiency, and competition for scarce resources. The authors describe components of the Child Health and Development Project (Mississippi Thrive!), a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)-funded effort that aims to improve the states early childhood developmental health system through family and community outreach, enhancements to the state's workforce, and policy change. The method of enquiry used in studying the basic color terms (BCT) in 'Basic Color Terms: Universality and Evolution' by Brent Berlin and Paul Kay has hidden and inherent errors. Hence the conclusion of the experimental program which affirms the uniformity of evolutionary development of basic color terms in different languages is doubtful. The problem arises from the vintage from which Berlin and Kay view the topic. Their claim that the basic elements of the human chromatic world are neurophysiologically based is also untenable due to the same reason.
