Materials with axis-dependent conduction polarity are known as $p\times n$-type or goniopolar conductors that can be used for transverse thermoelectric devices, allowing the longitudinal thermal current to be converted into the transverse electrical current. Here, we performed experimental and computational studies on the transport properties of WSi$_2$ single crystals, in which such axis-dependent conduction polarity of the thermopower and the Hall coefficient have recently been reported, and demonstrated the transverse thermoelectric effect by applying the temperature gradient in a 45$^{\circ}$ rotated direction from the crystallographic axis. We have observed strongly sample-dependent transport properties, which have also been observed in previous studies, and together with first-principles calculations we show that such sample-dependent transport properties originate from the band-dependent scattering rates of carriers. The calculated band-resolved Peltier conductivity shows that the mixed-dimensional electronic structure consisting of a quasi-one-dimensional electron Fermi surface and a quasi-two-dimensional hole surface is a key property for the axis-dependent conduction polarity. The directly obtained transverse thermoelectric figure of merit is comparable to that of the anomalous Nernst materials, implying that the present material is a potential candidate for transverse thermoelectric conversion., Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures. Low-dimensional materials, in which the electronic and transport properties are drastically modified in comparison to those of three-dimensional bulk materials, yield a key class of thermoelectric materials with high conversion efficiency. Among such materials, the organic compounds may serve peculiar properties owing to their unique molecular-based low-dimensional structures with highly anisotropic molecular orbitals. Here we present the thermoelectric transport properties of the quasi-one-dimensional dimer-Mott insulator $\beta'$-(BEDT-TTF)$_2$ICl$_2$, where BEDT-TTF stands for bis(ethylenedithio)-tetrathiafulvalene. We find that the thermopower exhibits typical activation-type temperature variation expected for insulators but its absolute value is anomalously large compared to the expected value from the activation-type temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity. Successively, the Jonker-plot analysis, in which the thermopower is usually scaled by the logarithm of the resistivity, shows an unusual relation among such transport quantities. The layered perovskite Sr$_2$RuO$_4$ serves as a model material of the two-dimensional (2D) Fermi liquid but also exhibits various emergent phenomena including the non-Fermi-liquid (NFL) behavior under external perturbations such as uniaxial pressure and chemical substitutions. Here we present the thermoelectric transport of electron-doped system Sr$_{2-y}$La$_{y}$RuO$_4$, in which a filling-induced Lifshitz transition occurs at the Van Hove singularity (VHS) point of $y\approx 0.2$. We find that the sign of the low-temperature thermopower becomes negative only near the VHS point, where the NFL behavior has been observed in the earlier work. This observation is incompatible with either a numerical calculation within a constant relaxation-time approximation or a toy-model calculation for the 2D Lifshitz transition adopting an elastic carrier scattering. As a promising origin of the observed negatively enhanced thermopower, we propose a skewed NFL state, in which an inelastic scattering with a considerable odd-frequency term plays a crucial role to negatively enhance the thermopower., Comment: 10 pages, 7 figures, to be published in Phys. Ising formulations are widely utilized to solve combinatorial optimization problems, and a variety of quantum or semiconductor-based hardware has recently been made available. In combinatorial optimization problems, the existence of local minima in energy landscapes is problematic to use to seek the global minimum. We note that the aim of the optimization is not to obtain exact samplings from the Boltzmann distribution, and there is thus no need to satisfy detailed balance conditions. In light of this fact, we develop an algorithm to get out of the local minima efficiently while it does not yield the exact samplings. For this purpose, we utilize a feature that characterizes locality in the current state, which is easy to obtain with a type of specialized hardware. Furthermore, as the proposed algorithm is based on a rejection-free algorithm, the computational cost is low. We report the electronic structures and transport properties of a chiral crystal NbGe$_2$, which is a candidate for a coupled electron-phonon liquid. The electrical resistivity and thermoelectric power of NbGe$_2$ exhibit clear differences compared to those of NbSi2 even though both niobium ditetrelides are isostructural and isoelectronic. We discuss the intriguing transport properties of NbGe$_2$ based on a van Hove-type singularity in the density of states. The analysis of de Haas-van Alphen oscillations measured by the field modulation and magnetic torque methods reveals the detailed shape of the Fermi surface of NbGe$_2$ by comparison with the results of energy band structure calculations using a local density approximation. The electron and hole Fermi surfaces of NbGe$_2$ split into two because of the anti-symmetric spin-orbit interaction. The temperature dependence of quantum oscillations indicates that the effective mass is isotropically enhanced in NbGe$_2$ due to strong electron-phonon interaction., Comment: 9 pages, 7 figures, To be published in Phys. The electronic structure of the $f$-based superconductor $\mathrm{CeIr_3}$ was studied by photoelectron spectroscopy. The energy distribution of the $\mathrm{Ce}~4f$ states were revealed by the $\mathrm{Ce}~3d-4f$ resonant photoelectron spectroscopy. The $\mathrm{Ce}~4f$ states were mostly distributed in the vicinity of the Fermi energy, suggesting the itinerant character of the $\mathrm{Ce}~4f$ states. The contribution of the $\mathrm{Ce}~4f$ states to the density of states (DOS) at the Fermi energy was estimated to be nearly half of that of the $\mathrm{Ir}~5d$ states, implying that the $\mathrm{Ce}~4f$ states have a considerable contribution to the DOS at the Fermi energy. The $\mathrm{Ce}~3d$ core-level and $\mathrm{Ce}~3d$ X-ray absorption spectra were analyzed based on a single-impurity Anderson model. Charged carriers in solids diffuse from hot to cold sides under temperature gradient to induce the thermoelectric voltage. Carrier filtering effect, which only passes either electrons or holes for the conduction process, is an efficient method to enhance such voltage, although it is challenging to experimentally realize it especially in conventional metals with weak energy dependence of the density of states near the Fermi level. Here we measure the in-plane and out-of-plane thermopower of the layered perovskite Sr$_2$RuO$_4$ single crystals above room temperature, and find that the out-of-plane thermopower is largely enhanced with increasing temperature, while the in-plane one seems to remain a temperature-independent constant value which is expected from the Heikes formula. The observed large out-of-plane thermopower may originate from the recently proposed intriguing hole filtering effect in the body-centered tetragonal system, in which the carrier hopping through the centered atom is essential. A graph is a very common and powerful data structure used for modeling communication and social networks. Models that generate graphs with arbitrary features are important basic technologies in repeated simulations of networks and prediction of topology changes. Although existing generative models for graphs are useful for providing graphs similar to real-world graphs, graph generation models with tunable features have been less explored in the field. Previously, we have proposed GraphTune, a generative model for graphs that continuously tune specific graph features of generated graphs while maintaining most of the features of a given graph dataset. However, the tuning accuracy of graph features in GraphTune has not been sufficient for practical applications. In this paper, we propose a method to improve the accuracy of GraphTune by adding a new mechanism to feed back errors of graph features of generated graphs and by training them alternately and independently. Transparent conducting oxides (TCOs) are essential components of optoelectronic devices and various materials have been explored for highly efficient TCOs having a combination of high transmittance and low sheet resistance. Here, we focus on a misfit thermoelectric oxide [Ca$_2$CoO$_3$]$_{0.62}$[CoO$_2$] and fabricate the transparent low-layered crystals by a mechanical tape-peeling method using the single-crystalline samples. From the transmittance measurement, we find that the thickness of low-layered samples is several orders of hundred nanometers, which is comparable with the estimation from the scanning electron microscopy images. Compared to the previous results on the polycrystalline and $c$-axis oriented transparent films, the electrical resistivity is reduced owing to the single-crystalline nature. The figure of merit for the transparent conducting materials in the present low-layered samples is then evaluated to be higher than the values in the previous reports. We investigate the topological Hall effect (THE) in the monoaxial chiral crystal GdPt$_2$B, a recently discovered compound that exhibits putative helimagnetism below 87 K. The distinct THE was observed in GdPt2B in the magnetically ordered state. The scaling relations for anomalous and topological Hall conductivities differed from those of conventional models based on the scattering process. We further demonstrate the clear scaling behavior of the THE in a wide temperature range, which we attribute to the monoaxial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction under external magnetic fields perpendicular to the screw axis. We report on the crystal structure and electronic properties of the heavy fermion superconductor UTe2 at high pressure up to 11 GPa, as investigated by X-ray diffraction and electrical resistivity experiments. The X-ray diffraction measurements under high pressure using a synchrotron light source reveal anisotropic linear compressibility of the unit cell up to 3.5 GPa, while a pressure-induced structural phase transition is observed above 3.5-4GPa at room temperature, where the body-centered orthorhombic crystal structure with the space group Immm changes into a body-centered tetragonal structure with the space group I4/mmm. The molar volume drops abruptly at the critical pressure, while the distance between the first-nearest neighbor of U atoms increases, implying a switch from the heavy electronic states to the weakly correlated electronic states. Surprisingly, a new superconducting phase at pressures higher than 7 GPa was detected at Tsc above 2K with a relatively low upper-critical field, Hc2(0). The resistivity above 3.5GPa, thus, in the high-pressure tetragonal phase, shows a large drop below 230 K, which may also be related to a considerable change from the heavy electronic states to the weakly correlated electronic states., Comment: 11 pages, 9 figures

Herein, we report the discovery of a novel Gd-based magnetic compound GdPt$_2$B with a chiral crystal structure. X-ray diffraction and chemical composition analyses reveal a CePt$_2$B-type crystal structure (space group: $P6_422$) for GdPt$_2$B. Moreover, we successfully grew single crystals of GdPt$_2$B using the Czochralski method. Magnetization measurements and the Curie$-$Weiss analysis demonstrate that the ferromagnetic interaction is dominant in GdPt$_2$B. A clear transition is observed in the temperature dependence of electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility, and specific heat at $T_{\rm O}$ = 87 K. The magnetic phase diagram of GdPt$_2$B, which consists of a field-polarized ferromagnetic region and a magnetically ordered region, resembles those of known chiral helimagnets. Furthermore, magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal a possible spin reorientation within the magnetically ordered phase in magnetic fields perpendicular to the screw axis. The results demonstrate that GdPt$_2$B is a suitable platform for investigating the competing effects of ferromagnetic and antisymmetric exchange interactions in rare-earth-based chiral compounds., Comment: 9 pages, 7 figures. We propose a four-dimensional interpretation of the outgoing state of the scattering of a massless fermion off a Dirac monopole. It has been known that such a state has fractional fermion numbers and is necessarily outside the Fock space on top of ordinary perturbative vacuum, when more than two flavours of charged Dirac fermions are considered. In this paper, we point out that the Fock space of the fermions depends on the rotor degree of freedom of the monopole and changes by a monopole-fermion s-wave scattering. The link between the metamagnetic transition and novel spin-triplet superconductivity of UTe$_2$ was discussed thermodynamically through magnetostriction measurements in a pulsed-magnetic field. We revealed a discontinuous magnetostriction across the metamagnetic transition at $\mu_0H_{\rm m}\approx 35$~T for the applied magnetic fields along the crystallographic $b$ axis in the orthorhombic structure. The resultanting volume magnetostriction of $\Delta V/V \approx-5.9\times 10^{-4}$ gives the initial pressure dependence of $H_{\rm m}$ by employing the Clausius-Clapeyron's equation, which agrees with previous pressure experiments. Further, significant anisotropic magnetostriction (AMS), derived by subtracting the averaged linear magnetostriction, was revealed. Contrary to the weakly field-dependent AMS along the $a$ axis, those along the $b$ and $c$ axes show strong field dependences with a similar magnitude but with opposite signs, indicating its lattice instability. The relationship between characteristic energy scales of magnetic fields and temperatures was discussed in terms of the Gr\"uneisen parameters compared to the other $f$-electron systems. Generative models for graphs have been actively studied for decades, and they have a wide range of applications. Recently, learning-based graph generation that reproduces real-world graphs has been attracting the attention of many researchers. Although several generative models that utilize modern machine learning technologies have been proposed, conditional generation of general graphs has been less explored in the field. In this paper, we propose a generative model that allows us to tune the value of a global-level structural feature as a condition. Our model, called GraphTune, makes it possible to tune the value of any structural feature of generated graphs using Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) and a Conditional Variational AutoEncoder (CVAE). We performed comparative evaluations of GraphTune and conventional models on a real graph dataset. Metamagnetic transitions in the novel spin-triplet superconductor UTe$_2$ were investigated through the newly developed simultaneous measurements of magnetization and sample temperature for the field along the orthorhombic $b$-axis and close to the [011] direction, where reentrant superconductivity (RSC) is detected below and above the first-order metamagnetic transition field $H_{\rm m}$. Combining the Maxwell's relation and the Clausius-Clapeyron equation, we obtained the field dependence of Sommerfeld coefficient $\gamma$ through the first-order metamagnetic transition. A significant enhancement of the effective mass toward $H_{\rm m}$ were detected for both field directions. On the other hand, above $H_{\rm m}$, the effective mass discontinuously decreases for $H~||~b$, while it discontinuously increases for $H~||~\sim [011]$, which seems to make a crucial role for the RSC., Comment: 8 pages, 11 figures, including supplemental material. In a two-dimensional conformal field theory with a moving mirror, known as a moving mirror model, the time evolution of the entanglement entropy shows a Page like curve. This implies that the moving mirror model is useful to understand the island formula. In this paper, we study the time evolution of the subregion CV complexity in the moving mirror model for a better understanding of the island formula of the complexity. We report the magnetic susceptibility and the magnetization under pressures up to 1.7GPa above the critical pressure, Pc ~ 1.5GPa, for H // a, b, c-axes in the novel spin triplet superconductor UTe2. The anisotropic magnetic susceptibility at low pressure with the easy magnetization a-axis changes to the quasi-isotropic behavior at high pressure, revealing a rapid suppression of the susceptibility for a-axis, and a gradual increase of the susceptibility for the b-axis. At 1.7GPa above Pc, magnetic anomalies are detected at T_MO ~ 3K and T_WMO ~ 10K. The former anomaly corresponds to long-range magnetic order, most likely antiferromagnetism, while the latter shows a broad anomaly, which is probably due to the development of short range order. The unusual decrease and increase of the susceptibility below T_WMO for H // a and b-axes, respectively, indicate the complex magnetic properties at low temperatures above Pc. With the development of graph applications, generative models for graphs have been more crucial. Classically, stochastic models that generate graphs with a pre-defined probability of edges and nodes have been studied. Recently, some models that reproduce the structural features of graphs by learning from actual graph data using machine learning have been studied. However, in these conventional studies based on machine learning, structural features of graphs can be learned from data, but it is not possible to tune features and generate graphs with specific features. In this paper, we propose a generative model that can tune specific features, while learning structural features of a graph from data. We report the magnetoresistance in the novel spin-triplet superconductor UTe2 under pressure close to the critical pressure Pc, where the superconducting phase terminates, for field along the three a, b and c-axes in the orthorhombic structure. The superconducting phase for H // a-axis just below Pc shows a field-reentrant behavior due to the competition with the emergence of magnetic order at low fields. The upper critical field Hc2 for H // c-axis shows a quasi-vertical increase in the H-T phase diagram just below Pc, indicating that superconductivity is reinforced by the strong fluctuations which persist even at high fields above 20T. Increasing pressure leads to the disappearance of superconductivity at zero field with the emergence of magnetic order. Surprisingly, field-induced superconductivity is observed at high fields, where a spin-polarized state is realized due to the suppression of the magnetic ordered phases; the spin-polarized state is favorable for superconductivity, whereas the magnetic ordered phase at low field seems to be unfavorable. The huge Hc2 in the spin-polarized state seems to imply a spin-triplet state. Contrary to the a- and c-axes, no field-reinforcement of superconductivity occurs for magnetic field along the b-axis. We report an unconventional class of pressure induced quantum phase transition, possessing two bicritical points at 6.25 GPa in URhSn. This unique transformation accompanies a Fermi surface reconstruction, demarcating competing ordered phases suitably described with localized and itinerant description of the magnetic $5f$-electrons. Ferromagnetic fluctuations over a wide range of temperatures and pressures in the pressure-induced low temperature phase are evidenced by a robust $T^{5/3}$ temperature dependence of resistivity up to 11 GPa, which is a characteristic of elusive marginal Fermi-liquid state.

We describe a $p$-dimensional conformal defect of a free Dirac fermion on a $d$-dimensional flat space as boundary conditions on a conformally equivalent space $\mathbb{H}^{p+1} \times \mathbb{S}^{d-p-1}$. We classify allowed boundary conditions and find that the Dirichlet type of boundary conditions always exists while the Neumann type of boundary condition exists only for a two-codimensional defect. For the two-codimensional defect, a double trace deformation triggers a renormalization group flow from the Neumann boundary condition to the Dirichlet boundary condition, and the free energy at UV fixed point is always larger than that at IR fixed point. We describe conformal defects of $p$ dimensions in a free scalar theory on a $d$-dimensional flat space as boundary conditions on the conformally flat space $\mathbb{H}^{p+1}\times \mathbb{S}^{d-p-1}$. We classify two types of boundary conditions, Dirichlet type and Neumann type, on the boundary of the subspace $\mathbb{H}^{p+1}$ which correspond to the types of conformal defects in the free scalar theory. We find Dirichlet boundary conditions always exist while Neumann boundary conditions are allowed only for defects of lower codimensions. Our results match with a recent classification of the non-monodromy defects, showing Neumann boundary conditions are associated with non-trivial defects. We check this observation by calculating the difference of the free energies on $\mathbb{H}^{p+1}\times \mathbb{S}^{d-p-1}$ between Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions. We discuss the change of the boundary entropy under an ambient renormalization group flow. We use conformal perturbation theory to calculate the change of the boundary entropy for $d$-dimensional BCFTs between two nearby fixed points. We also use the AdS$_{d+1}$/BCFT$_d$ model to calculate the boundary entropy. We show that the boundary entropy can increase under the ambient RG flow both in conformal perturbation theory and the AdS$_{d+1}$/BCFT$_d$ model. We performed AC calorimetry and magnetoresistance measurements under pressure for H || a-axis (easy-magnetization axis) in the novel heavy-fermion superconductor UTe2. Thanks to the thermodynamic information, multiple superconducting phases have been revealed under pressure and magnetic field. The (H,T) phase diagram of superconductivity under pressure displays an abrupt increase of the upper critical field (Hc2) at low temperature and in the high field region, and a strong convex curvature of Hc2 at high temperature. This behavior of Hc2 and the multiple superconducting phases require a state for the superconducting order parameter more complex than a spin-triplet equal spin pairing. We studied the anisotropy of the superconducting upper critical field $H_{\rm c2}$ in the heavy-fermion superconductor UTe$_2$ under hydrostatic pressure by magnetoresistivity measurements. In agreement with previous experiments we confirm that superconductivity disappears near a critical pressure $p_{\rm c} \approx 1.5$~GPa, and a magnetically ordered state appears. The unusual $H_{\rm c2}(T)$ at low temperatures for $H \parallel a$ suggests that the multiple superconducting phases which appear under pressure have quite different $H_{\rm c2}$. For a field applied along the hard magnetization $b$ axis $H_{\rm c2} (0)$ is glued to the metamagnetic transition $H_{\rm m}$ which is suppressed near $p_{\rm c}$. The suppression of $H_{\rm m}$ with pressure follows the decrease of temperature $T_{\chi}^{\rm max}$, at the maximum in the susceptibility along $b$. The strong reinforcement of $H_{\rm c2}$ at ambient pressure for $H \parallel b$ above 16~T is rapidly suppressed under pressure due to the increase of $T_{\rm sc}$ and the decrease of $H_{\rm m}$. The change in the hierarchy of the anisotropy of $H_{\rm c2}(0)$ on approaching $p_{\rm c}$ points out that the $c$ axis becomes the hard magnetization axis., Comment: 5 pages and 4 figures, supplemental material: 9 figures

The spin-triplet state is most likely realized in uranium ferromagnetic superconductors, UGe2, URhGe, UCoGe. The microscopic coexistence of ferromagnetism and superconductivity means that the Cooper pair should be realized under the strong internal field due the ferromagnetism, leading to the spin-triplet state with equal spin pairing. The field-reinforced superconductivity, which is observed in all three materials when the ferromagnetic fluctuations are enhanced, is one of the strong evidences for the spin-triplet superconductivity. We present here the results of a newly discovered spin-triplet superconductor, UTe2, and compare those with the results of ferromagnetic superconductors. Although no magnetic order is found in UTe2, there are similarities between UTe2 and ferromagnetic superconductors. For example, the huge upper critical field exceeding the Pauli limit and the field-reentrant superconductivity for H || b-axis are observed in UTe2, URhGe and UCoGe. Recently, Chapman et al. argued that holographic complexities for defects distinguish action from volume. Motivated by their work, we study complexity of quantum states in conformal field theory with boundary. In generic two-dimensional BCFT, we work on the path-integral optimization which gives one of field-theoretic definitions for the complexity. We also perform holographic computations of the complexity in Takayanagi's AdS/BCFT model following by the "complexity $=$ volume" conjecture and "complexity $=$ action" conjecture. We find that increments of the complexity due to the boundary show the same divergent structures in these models except for the CA complexity in the AdS$_3$/BCFT$_2$ model as the argument by Chapman et al. We have studied the magnetization of the recently discovered heavy fermion superconductor UTe$_2$ up to 56 T in pulsed-magnetic fields. A first-order metamagnetic transition has been clearly observed at $H_{\rm m}$ =34.9 T when the magnetic field $H$ is applied along the orthorhombic hard-magnetization $b$-axis. The transition has a critical end point at $\sim$11 K and 34.8 T, where the first order transition terminates and changes into a crossover regime. Using the thermodynamic Maxwell relation, we have evaluated the field dependence of the Sommerfeld coefficient of the specific heat directly related to the superconducting pairing. From the analysis, we found a significant enhancement of the effective mass centered at $H_{\rm m}$, which is reminiscent of the field-reentrant superconductivity of the ferromagnet URhGe in transverse fields. We grew single crystals of the recently discovered heavy fermion superconductor UTe2, and measured the resistivity, specific heat and magnetoresistance. Superconductivity (SC) was clearly detected at Tsc=1.65K as sharp drop of the resistivity in a high quality sample of RRR=35. The specific heat shows a large jump at Tsc indicating strong coupling. The large Sommerfeld coefficient, 117mJ K-2mol-1 extrapolated in the normal state and the temperature dependence of C/T below Tsc are the signature of unconventional SC. The discrepancy in the entropy balance at Tsc between SC and normal states points out that hidden features must occur. Surprisingly, a large residual value of the Sommerfeld coefficient seems quite robust (gamma_0/gamma ~ 0.5). The large upper critical field Hc2 along the three principal axes favors spin-triplet SC. For H // b-axis, our experiments do not reproduce the huge upturn of Hc2 reported previously. This discrepancy may reflect that Hc2 is very sensitive to the sample quality. We explore a $C$-theorem in defect conformal field theories (DCFTs) that unify all the known conjectures and theorems until now. We examine as a candidate $C$-function the additional contributions from conformal defects to the sphere free energy and the entanglement entropy across a sphere in a number of examples including holographic models. We find the two quantities are equivalent, when suitably regularized, for codimension-one defects (or boundaries), but differ by a universal constant term otherwise. Moreover, we find in a few field theoretic examples that the sphere free energy decreases but the entanglement entropy increases along a certain renormalization group (RG) flow triggered by a defect localized perturbation which is assumed to have a trivial IR fixed point without defects. We hence propose a $C$-theorem in DCFTs stating that the increment of the regularized sphere free energy due to the defect does not increase under any defect RG flow. We discuss conformal manifolds for conformal field theories with boundaries or defects. Using conformal perturbation theory we derive constraints on coefficients appearing in the boundary operator product expansion and three-point functions that need to be satisfied for the existence of marginal couplings. We present several explicit examples where we confirm that $\beta$-functions vanish using a position space regularization, differential regularization. We report the single-crystal growth of the non-centrosymmetric paramagnet U3Ni3Sn4 by the Bridgman method and the Fermi surface properties detected by de Haas-van Alphen (dHvA) experiments. We have also investigated single-crystal U3Ni3Sn4 by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, magnetization, electrical resistivity, and heat capacity measurements. The angular dependence of the dHvA frequencies reveals many closed Fermi surfaces, which are nearly spherical in topology. The experimental results are in good agreement with local density approximation (LDA) band structure calculations based on the 5f-itinerant model. The band structure calculation predicts many Fermi surfaces, mostly with spherical shape, derived from 12 bands crossing the Fermi energy. To our knowledge, the splitting of Fermi surfaces due to the non-centrosymmetric crystal in 5f-electron systems is experimentally detected for the first time. The temperature dependence of the dHvA amplitude reveals a large cyclotron effective mass of up to 35m0, indicating the heavy electronic state of U3Ni3Sn4 due to the proximity of the quantum critical point. From the field dependence of the dHvA amplitude, a mean free path of conduction electrons of up to 1950A is detected, reflecting the good quality of the grown crystal. In this paper we discuss geodesic Witten diagrams in general holographic conformal field theories with boundary or defect. In boundary or defect conformal field theory, two-point functions are non-trivial and can be decomposed into conformal blocks in two distinct ways; ambient channel decomposition and boundary channel decomposition. In our previous work we only consider two-point functions of same operators. We generalize our previous work to a situation where operators in two-point functions are different. In this paper we discuss geodesic Witten diagrams in generic holographic conformal field theories with boundary or defect. Boundary CFTs allow two different decompositions of two-point functions into conformal blocks: boundary channel and ambient channel. Building on earlier work, we derive a holographic dual of the boundary channel decomposition in terms of bulk-to-bulk propagators on lower dimensional AdS slices. This is a review of the recent progress on a holographic description of the Schwinger effect. In 2011, Semenoff and Zarembo proposed a scenario to study the Schwinger effect in the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence. The production rate of quark anti-quark pairs was computed in the Coulomb phase. In particular, it provided the critical value of external electric field, above which particles are freely created and the vacuum decays catastrophically. Then the potential analysis in the holographic approach was invented and it enabled us to study the Schwinger effect in the confining phase as well. A remarkable feature of the Schwinger effect in the confining phase is to exhibit another kind of the critical value, below which the pair production cannot occur and the vacuum of the system is non-perturbatively stable. The critical value is tantamount to the confining string tension. We consider the entanglement entropy in the dS/CFT correspondence.In Einstein gravity on de Sitter spacetime we propose the holographic entanglement entropy as the analytic continuation of the extremal surface in Euclidean anti-de Sitter spacetime.Even though dual conformal field theories for Einstein gravity on de Sitter spacetime have not been known yet,we analyzed the free $Sp(N)$ model dual to Vasiliev's higher spin gauge theory as a toy model.In this model we confirmed the behaviour similar to our holographic result from Einstein gravity., Comment: 9 pages, v2: title changed, minor changes, references added, v3: published version
