During the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, more schools have started online English classes in 2019. However, there is little agreement on the differences in students' performances between online and face-to­face lessons. Therefore, this study examines the differences in the speech performance of 61 university students vis-à-vis face-to-face and online classes in terms of grammatical accuracy, speed fluency, repair fluency, syntactic complexity, and lexical complexity. The results show that there are significant differences in the fluency of students' presentations between face-to-face and online classes, thus demonstrating that students are able to speak English more fluently and with fewer false starts or unnecessary repetitions in online classes. A possible reason for this finding is that the participants of this study are at the beginner level; thus, it is suggested that they do not have confidence in speaking English in the physical presence of many classmates. However, students are able to speak English with less pressure in online classes, thereby resulting in significant differences. Based on the findings, this article elucidates the growth of online lessons, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, and includes some implications about how teachers use both face-to-face and online instructional formats.

Organizer: Research and Development Directorate, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), Chofu Aerospace Center, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)(CAC)), Chofu, Tokyo, Japan, 宇宙産業が拡大する一方で、産業の基盤である軌道環境を維持・管理する活動は未だ途上である。ミッション後の宇宙機「スペースデブリ」の処理・破棄の履行が不徹底なまために将来の開発に悪影響が生じた場合、産業全体のボトルネックとなることが懸念される。ALE とJAXA では導電性テザー(EDT:Electrodynamic Tether)を用いたPMD デバイスによる軌道離脱の技術実証を目的とした事業協同実証(J-SPARC)を行っており、足元での当該技術の実証を計画している。当EDT は、宇宙デブリに対処するアプローチであるADR（別機による事後的な処理）とPMD（自機へのデバイス搭載等による予防的な処理）のうち後者に属するものであり、軌道降下時間を大幅に短縮することが可能なため今後のスペースデブリ対策の一つとして効果的である。本講演では実証に向け開発を進めるPMD デバイスの軌道降下への影響及びミッション実現に向けた課題とこの解決策についてこれまでの検討内容について紹介する。, While the space industry is drastically expanding, there are not yet enough measures to maintain the environment on orbit which are critical to the industry. If we do not adequately address the disposals of space debris after missions, which may harm the future project, these debris could prevent the industry from developing properly. ALE and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), as a part of the JAXA Space Innovation through Partnership and Co-creation (J-SPARC) project, are developing a PMD device using an Electrodynamic tether (EDT) to demonstrate the deorbit of satellites. In this project, we are planning to launch a satellite equipped with a PMD device. There are two approaches to mitigate space debris; ADR (dealing with space debris once after the mission of spacecrafts has ended, Active Debris Removal) and PMD (preventing spacecrafts from becoming space debris beforehand, Post Mission Disposal). Our developed EDT is categorized in PMD and able to significantly reduce the time required for the satellite to reenter the atmosphere. It can be utilized as a countermeasure for the prevention of space debris. Chofu Aerospace Center, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)(CAC), Online meeting), Chofu, Tokyo, Japan, 著者らの研究グループは、これまで、始原天体の表層サンプリング装置の貫入性能を高めるために日本刀技術を応用することを試み、実験的検討を中心に様々な研究を実施してきた。それらの知見を活かし、近年は日本刀技術を能動的デブリ処理（ADR）における銛機構の性能向上に役立てるための検討を始めている。この研究は、特に、シンプルな構造を保ちつつ、ターゲットとなる衛星表面の薄板構造をより小さな力学的条件で貫通させることができる銛機構の開発を目指すものである。日本刀技術は、日本古来より対象物を効率よく切断または貫通するために高められてきた伝統技術で、1000 年以上の歴史を持つ非常に枯れた技術とみなすことができる。日本刀技術は主に「作刀技術」と「操刀技術」からなり、それぞれ多くの技術要素から構成される。本発表では、日本刀技術の特長やこれまでの取り組み状況などを紹介する。, Traditional Japanese sword smithing has become a mature technology in Japan, one that has been refined since antiquity to cut or pierce an object as efficiently as possible. Japanese sword smithing has a history of more than 1000 years, including a rich, progressive improvement of refining techniques, and their effectiveness has been furthered by centuries of enhancing the finesse of the operating of a sword. Against that background, the authors have been conducting research on applicability of traditional Japanese sword technologies to enhance penetration power of sampling device for the surface layer of minor planets. Also, based on these researches, improving performance of the harpoon mechanisms in active debris removal (ADR) was investigated of experiments and finite element method (FEM). The objective of this research is to develop a harpoon that can penetrate the thin-gauge structure of a target satellite's surface. Another objective is maintaining reliability of the harpoon mechanism while seeking a simple and effective design. Chofu Aerospace Center, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)(CAC), Online meeting), Chofu, Tokyo, Japan, 宇宙利用が急速に加速する昨今、衛星打ち上げ機会と小型衛星需要の増加、メガコンステレーションの台頭により、スペースデブリ対策としてミッション終了後の衛星の速やかな軌道離脱（PMD: Post Missiondisposal）は宇宙の持続的な開発に重要な技術として位置づけられている。ALE とJAXA では導電性テザー(EDT: Electrodynamic Tether)を用いたPMD デバイスによる軌道離脱の技術実証を目的とした事業協同実証(J-SPARC)を行っており、2021 年の打ち上げを計画している。EDT は地球磁場とテザーに流れる電流の相互作用によるローレンツ力と空気抵抗を推進力として軌道離脱を行うため、地球磁場の影響する広範囲の軌道に存在する衛星に有効である。開発したPMD デバイスは軌道降下時間を大幅に短縮することが可能なため今後のスペースデブリ対策の一つとして効果的である。本講演では現在開発を行っているPMD デバイスと数値解析による軌道降下への影響及びミッション概要について紹介する。, The rapid growth of space utilization, increase in demand for small satellites and their launch opportunities, and the rise of mega-constellations means an increased threat from space debris. Considering the current situation, Post-Mission Disposal (PMD) is considered to be important technique for the prevention of space debris and sustainable space development. ALE and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), as a part of the JAXA Space Innovation through Partnership and Co-creation (J-SPARC) project, are developing a PMD device using an Electrodynamic tether (EDT) to demonstrate the de-orbit of satellites. In this project, we are planning to launch a satellite equipped with a PMD device in 2021. The EDT is effective for satellites in a wide range of orbits within the Earth's magnetic field. It uses Lorentz force, an interaction between the Earth's magnetic field and electrical current flowing through the tether and atmospheric drag, to decrease the time needed to de-orbit. Our developed PMD device is able to significantly reduce the time required for the satellite to reenter the atmosphere. It can be utilized as a countermeasure for the prevention of space debris. 「地誌」授業で、2016年度から世界の10か国及び日本の10都県の位置について、受講生がどの程度認識しているか調査してきた結果を、①高校での地理科目履修状況との関係、②正答率の経年変化、③誤答の傾向に分けて分析・考察した。①では、世界の地理認識について正答率が低い国で地理科目履修者の正答率が未履修者を上回る傾向がみられる。②では、変化パターンから、調査した10か国は、正答率が上昇傾向、低下傾向、調査年により上昇・低下、ほぼ一定の4グループに、10都県は、上昇傾向、調査年により上昇・低下、ほぼ一定の3グループに分けられる。③では、世界の地理認識について、正答の国に近接またはその国が属する地域の国を誤答、名称の似た地域・国を誤答、全く別の地域の国を誤答という三つの誤答パターンが、日本の地理認識については、隣接または正答の県が含まれる地方の県を誤答、全く別地方の県を誤答という二つの誤答パターンが認められる。

日本の国内外において，食品の廃棄物に関する関心が高まり，課題解決の方策が検討されている（環境省，2017；農林水産省，2019）。また，企業では，MFCA（Material Flow CostAccounting）などのマネジメント手法が開発され（経済産業省，2009），普及に向けての研究が進められている（安城，2011；萬田，2012；加登・山田，2019）。本研究では，事業において，生産段階における廃棄を含む食品の廃棄物（食品ロス）低減を既存のマネジメント手法に頼らない方法でも実施できる可能性に関する研究の第一弾として，ポーター（1985）およびPorter（2008）のバリューチェーンを議論の枠組みに利用した地域企業のケーススタディを行う。顕在化した食品ロスを直接的な発生要因を解消するなかで関連製品として開発する方法の特長を整理した結果，第一に，既存のマネジメント手法に頼らない，地域産物を素材とした独自の方法で食品ロス低減を基盤とするビジネスモデル開発に取り組む現状を理論的に整理することができた。第二に，地域産物に関する食品ロス低減に取り組むことによって，１つの企業としてのみならず，所在する地域の持続的な成長にコミットメントする機会を創出することから社会的企業として位置付ける可能性を指摘した。
