Due to the increased environmental issues, the weight reduction in Automobiles is inevitable. Among the new developments in the field of materials, composites are the most focusing one as its properties are outstanding compared to the conventional material. Decreasing fuel consumption, improving safety and enhancing the performance of modern vehicles it is essential to decrease the weight by utilizing lightweight composite materials. Hybrid composites are most focused as their properties are more promising to meet the demand of new engineering applications. A number of variables like size, distribution of grains, its orientation, reinforcement, matrix materials and its composition which produces high performance composites with superior mechanical, thermal and physical properties. Attempts are made to produce various automobile parts from small to big in size. But steel is most cost effective than other materials in terms of production volumes. Recent advances in the production technologies made the composite more potential alternative in terms of cost effective. This paper reviews the design optimization techniques, production techniques and innovative composite materials with enhanced properties to make them suitable for automobile industry. 3. Fracture resistance of endodontically treated mandibular permanent first molars reinforced with diagonal horizontal postdesign: A In vitro study

Aim: This study aims to compare fracture resistance of mandibular first molars reinforced with diagonally placed horizontal posts after endodontic therapy. Materials and Methods: Thirty-two mandibular first molar teeth were selected, standardized, divided into four groups (GP) – GP I (endodontically treated-no post)), GP II (horizontal post-buccolingual), GP III (horizontal postdiagonal), and GP IV (natural teeth). The individual teeth were mounted on bases, coded, and suitably prepared for the facture testing procedure. Results: Buccolingual type of fracture was the most common among the experimental groups with a percentage of incidence of 37.50%. The cuspal type of fracture was the next most common with a percentage of incidence of 25.0%. The incidence of mesiodistal, comminuted, and proximal type of fractures was also observed and had a percentage of incidence of 9.38%, 9.38%, and 9.38%, respectively. Group IV had the highest fracture resistance with a mean value of 1279.82 (N). Group I, Group II, and Group III had mean values of 684.16(N), 756.84(N), and 758.17(N), respectively. There was a statistically significant difference between Gp IV and Gp (I–III) in load values of root fracture (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, it can be concluded that diagonally placed horizontal postdesign has a higher resistance to facture when compared to buccolingually place horizontal postdesign and root canal treated non postgroup. These designs have the potential to be a conservative postendodontic management option. Further evaluation of different horizontal postdesigns and assessment in a clinical setting is recommended.

4. Fracture resistance of titanium, chrome–cobalt, and gold alloy as post and core materials: A comparative evaluation

Aim: This study aimed to comparatively evaluate the fracture resistance of different metallic post and core materials. Materials and Methods: Twenty-four maxillary–central incisors were selected, standardized, and segregated into three groups (GP I–III) (n = 8) based on the type of alloy used for post and core preparation. GP I (gold alloy [Au]), GP II (chrome–cobalt alloy [Co–Cr]), and GP III (titanium alloy [Ti]) were comparatively evaluated for use as post and core materials. The teeth were endodontically treated and tooth preparation for post core was done.Metal post and cores were fabricated using indirect wax pattern and luted. Teeth were mounted on resin bases, fracture testing was done, and type of fractures were analyzed. Results: Mesiodistal type of fracture was the most common among experimental groups with a percentage incidence of 54.20%. The comminuted type of fracture was the next most common with a percentage incidence of 29.2%. The incidence of buccolingual, transverse, and other type of fracture was not common and had a percentage incidence of 29.2%, 4.2%, 8.3% and 4.2% respectively. Group II had the highest fracture resistance with a mean value of 742.89N. Group III and Group I had mean values of 482.33 and 361.1123N. Statistically significant difference between experimental groups (I and II) and (II and III) was observed in load values of root fracture (P < 0.05). Conclusion: On the basis of the protocols used and limitations of this study, among metallic post and core materials tested, GP II had the highest fracture resistance values. Further evaluation of these different post and core systems, new alloy formulations designed specifically for use as post and core materials, and assessment in a clinical setting is recommended.

- Abstract
Globally, the concentration of heavy metals and sediment toxicity analysis are significant liabilities to aquatic environments. This scrutiny outlines the sediment textures, heavy metals and toxicity status associated with environmental pollution indices in the core sediment of the Cauvery and Vettar estuaries, East coast of India. The impact of rapid industrialization, urbanization, harbour activities and agricultural activities influences on the twain estuary is a significant concern to designate the environment. The contamination status of the sediments affects the potential biodiversity, ecological risks and human health. A total of two core sediments were recovered from the Cauvery and Vettar estuaries in March 2023 to decipher the environmental pollution status. Meticulous observation of the textural studies underscores the prevalence of sand content in Cauvery, and Vettar sediments consist of predominate clay content and minor silt contents. Furthermore, the organic matter is augmented in the Vettar River due to the higher input of waste disposal, seaweeds and algae due to the surrounding landmass. Twain core sediments argue that heavy metal concentration is decreasing in order as Fe > Zn > Ni > Pb > Cu > Cr by using portable X-ray fluorescence (pXRF) spectrometry. Remarkable results of environmental pollution indices such as I
geo , Ef , Cf , Cd andm Cd state very highly polluted, extreme enrichments, high contamination and very high degree of contamination. Furthermore, the potential ecological risk indices such as PLI, SQGs, and PERI argue polluted, medium to high toxicity and moderate adverse ecological risk to the estuarine regions. Statistical analysis of the heavy metal affirms the enrichment of Fe metals may derive from lithogenic and/or anthropogenic influences, and the other studied metals such as Cu, Ni, Zn, Pb and Cr may be influenced by the anthropogenic activities in the aspect of point and non-point pollution sources. This could result from both estuaries undergoing higher pollution, in which the Vettar estuary is a considerable environmental risk zone compared to the Cauvery river due to the impact of industrial effluents and rapid urbanization activities. This finding underscores the urgent need for enhanced estuarine sediment quality study and comprehensive assessment of sediment toxicity, regulating the beneficial acumen for the government to follow the suitable remediation on the embellish policy of river and marine environments., (© 2024. - Abstract
This study focuses on assessing hydrochemical characteristics and non-carcinogenic health risks associated with fluoride contamination in groundwater within the Palacode and Pennagaram taluks of Dharmapuri district. The presence of fluoride in drinking water is a significant concern due to its potential health impacts on both adults and children. We collected a total of 158 groundwater samples during both the summer (SUM) and monsoon (MON) seasons in 2021 to evaluate the suitability of water for drinking purposes in this region. During the SUM season, groundwater exhibits alkaline characteristics with a pH range of 6.70 to 8.73 and a mean value of 7.43, while the MON season falls within the neutral pH range with values ranging from 6.60 to 7.60 and a mean of 7.00. Hydrogeochemical analysis reveals that fluoride concentrations during the SUM season range from 0.13 to 2.7 mg/L, with a mean of 0.82 mg/L, whereas the MON season exhibits concentrations ranging from 0.08 to 1.6 mg/L, with a mean of 0.5 mg/L. Spatial distribution analysis indicates a gradual increase in fluoride concentrations from the northeast to the central and southern parts of the study area during both seasons. Residents in these areas have been exposed to high fluoride levels for an extended period, leading to health issues related to fluorosis. Our hydrogeochemical analysis attributes fluoride dominance to the Cl
- -SO4 2- water type in both seasons. Furthermore, the relationship between fluoride and pH, HCO3 - , Ca2+ , and Na+ suggests the influence of geological factors in fluoride dissolution under alkaline conditions, while a reverse cation exchange process and increasing calcium concentration inhibit fluoride concentration. Saturation indices indicate that the unsaturated state of gypsum dissolution contributes to elevated fluoride levels in groundwater. Additionally, Gibbs plots highlight rock-water interactions as a significant factor influencing groundwater chemistry in the study area. Based on our hazard quotient (HQ) investigation, children are at a higher risk during both seasons compared to adults, with the central and northern regions showing alarming HQ values. These findings underscore the urgent need for enhanced groundwater quality monitoring and a comprehensive assessment of health risks, providing valuable insights for groundwater safety management in vulnerable areas of this region., (© 2023.
