In precedenti lavori gli autori hanno presentato un sistema di misura distribuito per rilevare disturbi transitori e un metodo di localizzazione guasti basato su misure dell’istante di inizio del disturbo effettuate in punti strategici della rete di distribuzione. In seguito si è indagato sulle prestazioni della procedura sviluppata, prima simulando guasti e manovre su una rete Std. IEEE, poi introducendo condizioni di funzionamento reali del sistema elettrico e variando sistematicamente le condizioni di guasto. Per completare l’analisi del metodo proposto si deve valutare l’incertezza con cui viene stimata la posizione del punto di guasto. A tale scopo, ogni blocco della catena di misura corrispondente a un canale della stazione remota è stato caratterizzato metrologicamente e si sono valutati gli effetti delle sorgenti di incertezza sull’istante temporale registrato. L’incertezza sull’istante di tempo viene infine propagata attraverso l’algoritmo di localizzazione per ottenere l’incertezza combinata sulla posizione del punto di guasto.

The problem of determining the location of a fault in an electrical power network can be faced by using a distributed measurement system. This paper deals with the metrological characterization of the remote units of the system, so that the combined uncertainty affecting the fault position can be evaluated. A numerical approach has been used in this paper for the uncertainty estimation. Results are presented and discussed.

L’ampia ricerca su metodi di localizzazione guasti in sistemi di potenza ha portato a un elevato numero di lavori in cui sono presentate tecniche inquadrabili in tre tipologie: a) misure di impedenza equivalente a frequenza industriale; b) analisi dei disturbi applicando tecniche di “pattern recognition” o la teoria delle onde viaggianti; c) sistemi esperti che impiegano reti neurali. In un precedente lavoro gli autori hanno proposto un sistema di misura distribuito per la localizzazione di sorgenti di eventi transitori dovuti a guasti o a fulminazione. Il metodo è stato ottimizzato per estenderne il campo di applicazione e se ne è verificato, per mezzo di simulazioni, il corretto funzionamento in condizioni operative realistiche della rete di distribuzione, variando sistematicamente anche i parametri di guasto.

The problem of determining the location of faults in distribution systems can be faced with several techniques. In this paper, an approach based on the use of a distributed measurement system is improved, then its performance is evaluated under different realistic operating conditions of the network by means of simulations. The results show the validity and the robustness of proposed method.

The wattmeter is an instrument which measures the av- erage power P0 entering a one-port.

In the literature, several methods dealing with the problem of fault location in power distribution system can be found. A possible approach is to use a distributed measurement system which analyzes the transient voltage in many network points. The main drawback of such a solution is the large number of measurement stations required. In this paper an approach combining the use of a distributed measurement system and the wavelet-based analysis of the transient voltages is proposed to tackle this issue. Simulation results show the good performance of the proposed technique.

The use of a distributed measurement system to locate the source of transient voltages is discussed in this paper. The system implements a method based on the measurement of the starting instants of a transient in the nodes of the monitored network. The method performance is investigated by simulating the system operation. Results in the case of both faults and insertion of capacitors in a IEEE test network are presented and discussed.

Sono descritti un metodo innovativo per la taratura dei blocchi di condizionamento analogico di strumenti basati su tecniche di DSP e la sua implementazione in un banco automatico nel caso di trasduttori di tensione. Sono state analizzate le sorgenti di incertezza che influenzano le prestazioni del banco stesso e la propagazione dei loro effetti sui risultati della taratura.

The paper reports and discusses the results of simultaneous measurements carried out on power network nodes with the purpose of assessing the responsibility for Power Quality (PQ) degradation. The measurements have been performed by means of distributed measurement system set up in the laboratories of the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Bologna. The instrument implements two different approaches recently proposed for the above task. The instrument main features are also described.

Voltage transients are one of the main causes of PQ degradation. For this reason it is important to investigate techniques capable of providing information useful to measure and classifiy them depending on their origin. In a previous paper it was shown that a distributed measurement system for PQ monitoring can be used in parallel with the Lightning Location System to assess whether there is a correlation between a voltage transient and a lightning event. In this paper a distributed measurement system able to detectct the starting instant of fast transient is proposed in order to investigate on the above correlation.
