Introduction: The clitoris is partially responsible for sexual arousal. The integrity of the extracellular matrix is essential for clitoral erection. Sexual dysfunction is a phenomenon associated with age.Methods: The clitoris of cadavers of 20- to 80-year-old women was excised and histologically processed. Stereological analysis was performed to quantify the volumetric density of collagen, elastic fibers, and smooth muscle.Results: A significant increase in collagen and a decrease in smooth muscle and elastic fibers were observed in older women.Conclusions: In short, these changes caused by aging could contribute to female sexual dysfunction concerning clitoral orgasm. Introduction: The Caroticoclinoid Foramen (CCF) is a variation found in the sphenoid. It gives passage to the internal carotid artery and it is a surgically significant structure when dealing with the cavernous sinus. There is debate, however, regarding its prevalence, especially in populations from South America. Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence and size of the CCF in a Brazilian sample. Materials and Methods: This was a cross-sectional study carried out for a period of 10 months during March 2019 and January 2020. The present study was conducted in 365 dry human skulls from two Universities in the Southeast region of Brazil. The caroticolinoid foramen was observed and if present, measured. Results: Of the 365 skulls examined, the foramen was present in 101 (prevalence of 27.6%). The foramen was bilateral in 88 cases, while 13 skulls presented this variation unilaterally (7 on the right and 6 on the left side), thus reaching a total of 189 foramina. The mean anteroposterior diameter was 4.87±0.69 mm (right side) and 4.86±0.79 mm (left side), and the Transverse Diameter (TD) was 4.85±0.75 mm (right side) and 4.74±0.73 mm (left side). Sixty-nine skulls had data regarding sex and age. The age ranged from 1 month old to 104-year-old (mean of 37.79±21.85-yearold). The male to female ratio was 2:1, being the only relation with statistical significance (p<0.05). Conclusion: The CCF can be a common variation depending on the population analysed. Variations of the forearm muscles are well described in the literature. In spite of that, reports regarding the accessory flexor carpi ulnaris muscle are scarce due to its rarity. This muscle usually originates from the medial epicondyle of the humerus with the flexor muscle mass and inserts itself into the palmar aponeurosis or the pisiform bone together with the flexor carpi ulnaris muscle. Supernumerary and anomalous muscles of the anterior compartment of the forearm have been associated with ulnar nerve and artery compression. Furthermore, they may also mimic neuromas and soft tissue tumors. The study of supernumerary muscles is necessary, as they may be an option to tendon grafts and muscle flaps. The aim of this paper is to describe the presence of the accessory flexor carpi ulnaris muscle on the left forearm of a cadaver fixated in a phenol solution and discuss its clinical and anthropological significance. The leg muscles are organized in anterior, lateral and posterior compartments. The posterior compartment is usually divided in two layers: superficial and deep. The deep muscles of the posterior compartment of the leg are known to mainly plantar flexion and toes flexion. In comparison to the other leg compartments, variations of the posterior one are rare. These variants often involve the presence or absence of one or more muscles, and they have differences among origin and insertion, which leads to confusion between anatomists. We aim to describe a case of a male cadaver that possessed three supernumerary muscles in the lateral and posterior compartments of both legs: the peroneus quartus muscle and two accessory bellies of the flexor digitorum longus. This presentation seems to be very rare and scarcely reported in the literature. These variants have the potential of causing nervous or vascular compression, thus leading to tarsal tunnel syndrome or a symptomatic peroneus quartus. The os intermetatarseum is an accessory bone located in the foot, usually between the first 2 metatarsals and the cuneiform bone. It can be presented as free, articulated or in a fused fashion. It is a very unusual variation found in less than 13 % of the population. A 27-year-old patient presented to the emergency service due to an ankle lesion. Physical exam showed pain and limited range of motion while supporting partial load. Radiographic imaging showed a bony trace near the base of the first and second metatarsals, diagnosed as the os intermetatarseum. Formation of this supernumerary bone begins as a separate ossification center. Most cases are asymptomatic; however, compression of the deep peroneal nerve branches by the os intermetatarseum can lead to pain. Some authors suggest that the presence of this bone may cause hallux valgus. The intermetatarseum can lead to diagnostic confusion, mainly related to Lisfranc fracture. We report on the case of a 40-year-old male who was admitted to the clinic with a large ulcer on his left buttock, 3 days after an intramuscular benzathine penicillin injection. The patient was diagnosed with Nicolau syndrome, a rare vascular complication in which a lesion develops after intramuscular injection. Symptoms are intense pain at the injection site, erythema, and livedoid dermatitis, which leads to necrosis of skin, subcutaneous tissue and muscle tissue. It was described by Nicolau after intramuscular injections of bismuth salt for syphillis therapy. Nicolau syndrome is rare, but its symptoms are devastating and healthcare professionals must be aware of this clinical entity, since intramuscular injections are common procedures for administration of drugs. The infrapatellar branch of the saphenous nerve is a cutaneous nerve that innervates the area surrounding the patella and contributes to the peripatellar plexus. This nerve is target to iatrogenic injuries during a great deal of knee procedures, such as tendon harvesting, total knee arthroplasty and medial arthroscopic approaches to the knee. Lesion to this nerve can produce sensorial loss at its innervation territory. The study conducted herein aims to observe the anatomical aspects of the infrapatellar branch in cadaveric specimens. The infrapatellar branch of the saphenous nerve of 40 male cadavers was dissected with the purpose of identifying the number of branches, its relation with the patella, tibial tuberosity and sartorius muscle. The nerve was dissected and several measurements were performed with the aid of a digital caliper. Statistical analysis was performed with the MedCalc 16.1 software. The infrapatellar branch of the saphenous nerve was present in 100% of the sample. Its mean distance from its origin to its branching point was 16.35±6.48 mm on the right and 21.94±4.31 mm on the left, with statistically significant differences (p < 0.05). A relatively safe zone for surgery was observed on the superior and medial aspect of the patella, which received less branches. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The supracondylar process is a hook shaped projection of the humerus. It is located superior to its medial epicondyle. This anatomic variation is often presented together with the Struther's ligament, a fibrous arcade that connects the supracondylar process to the medial epicondyle. Both structures have been associated with neurovascular bundle compression on the distal third of the arm, as the median and ulnar nerves and the brachial and ulnar arteries may pass through the osteofibrous canal that these variants create. The SciElo, Pubmed, Scopus, TRIP, MEDLINE, COCHRANE and ScienceDirect databases were searched with the term "supracondylar process" or "supracondyloid process" with the purpose of performing a meta-analysis of this bony spur. Heterogeneity between studies was evaluated using I2 estimation and the Cochran Q statistic test. A random effect model was used for all analysis. A total of twenty articles (26.415 humeri) were included in this meta-analysis. The pooled prevalence of the supracondylar process was 0.68 % (95 % Confidence Interval: 0.47 % to 0.92 %). This variant was more commonly found in women than in men (statistically significant difference) and more commonly found on the left side than the right. The presence of the supracondylar process alone may induce neurovascular bundle compression. It can also be injured in traumatic or stress fractures.
