The use of chitosan-iodine (Cs-I) complexes can be a goodstrategy to improve the nutraceutical quality and the concentration of Iin the edible part of crops. The objective of this study was to evaluatethe effects of biofortification via foliar of I in a complex with Cs on thenutraceutical quality of jalapeño pepper fruits. The treatments were thefollowing: absolute control, 1% Cs and I complex (5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 mgL−1) + 1% Cs. The application of the 15 mg L−1complex of Cs-I improvedthe nutraceutical quality of the fruits, in contrast to the application of 1%Cs individually. In addition, as the dose of the Cs-I complex increases, theaccumulation of I in the fruit increases. The use of the Cs-I complex is analternative to modulate the nutraceutical quality and I content in jalapeñopepper fruits., El uso de complejos quitosano-yodo (Cs-I) puede ser unabuena estrategia para mejorar la calidad nutracéutica y la concentraciónde I en la parte comestible de los cultivos. El objetivo de este estudio fueevaluar los efectos de la biofortificación vía foliar de I en complejo con Cssobre la calidad nutracéutica de frutos de chile jalapeño. Los tratamientosfueron los siguientes: control absoluto, 1% Cs y complejo I (5, 10, 15, 20 y25 mg L−1) + 1% Cs. La aplicación del complejo de Cs-I con 15 mg L−1mejoró la calidad nutracéutica de los frutos, en contraste con la aplicaciónde 1% Cs de forma individual. Además, a medida que aumenta la dosis delcomplejo Cs-I, aumenta la acumulación de I en el fruto. El uso del complejoCs-I es una alternativa para modular la calidad nutracéutica y el contenidode I en frutos de chile jalapeño.

Fusarium oxysporumis one of the most destructive pathogenswith wide distribution and devastating effects on vegetables. An alternativeto mitigate the damage caused byF. oxysporumis the use of biostimulants,since they promote a defense response in stressful situations. The objectiveof this work was to evaluate the biostimulant potential of hydroalcoholicextracts ofSargassumspp. (SAR) to increase tolerance to infection byF.oxysporumin tomato seedlings. 17 extracts were evaluated, which wereapplied in a foliar way to the seedlings at 7, 12, 22, 33 and 43 DAT (daysafter transplantation). The induction of tolerance of the SAR extracts wasevaluated in terms of incidence and severity of the disease and agronomicvariables.
