This study was motivated by the lack of animation utilization by VI-grade teachers in teaching the theory of procedure text writing. Students are not motivated by the absence of animated media. Therefore, the animation is needed in learning the theory of procedure text writing. This study was included in research and development type and two cycle's classroom action research. This study was carried out in SD Methodist 2 Medan from July 2020 to August 2020. In small group testing, the subjects were 10 random VI-grade from VI A, VI B, VI C, VI D, and VI E. In large group testing, the subjects were 20 random VI-grade students from VI A, VI B, VI C, VI D, and VI E. In classroom action research, the subjects were 29 VI E students. Several tests on material feasibility, media feasibility, and student responses were carried out. The results showed 89.32% (very feasible) which means animated video as the learning media was very effective for the learning process. After very feasible category was obtained in large group testing, then product dissemination in classroom action research was carried out. Based on the results, in Cycle I, 13 students (44.82%) met the passing grade, while 16 students (55.18%) failed. The average grade was 70.52 while the passing grade was 76, then Cycle II was needed. In Cycle II, 25 students (86.20%) met the passing grade, while 4 students (13.80%) failed. The average grade was 85.69. This means animated video as learning media innovation had a significant influence in learning the theory of procedure text writing on Indonesian language subject. In accordance with these results, as a learning medium, the findings in this study reveal that animated videos are able to develop effective learning patterns in the classroom.

Rejection of submitted articles during the editorial review process can be discouraging for authors. This study investigates the factors affecting manuscript acceptance and rejection by journal editors and proposes targeted training to enhance acceptance rates at the editorial review stage. Data were collected through online questionnaires from 42 international journal editors, interviews with five editors, and focus group discussions with graduate students. The findings reveal that editors consider six key criteria when deciding whether to accept manuscripts for peer review: originality, uniqueness, scope, appropriateness, relevance, and significance. Commonly rejected sections include the abstract, methods, and results. Insights from editor interviews and focus groups with earlycareer researchers shed light on the reasons for manuscript rejection and highlight specific sections with higher rejection rates. The study recommends that new researchers undertake courses in scientific writing to better understand editors' evaluation criteria and improve their chances of acceptance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Several studies have discussed the features and characteristics of research on English language teaching in Indonesia by both lecturers and students. However, there is very little research that discusses topics, research methods, designs, and reasons for choosing topics, as well as the efforts to improve the quality of research conducted by prospective EFL teachers in the Indonesian context. The study aims to identify, assess, and characterize the research conducted by prospective Indonesian EFL teachers. The study used mixed research methods utilizing 477 research works as the objects of study, while the research participants were 67 prospective Indonesian EFL teachers and 5 heads of the English education program. The results showed that students' selected research topics were the process of learning English at the secondary school level and that their preferred methodologies were quantitative research, qualitative research, and classroom action research (mixed methods). The most popular topics in English language learning research were methods for learning, classroom action research, textbook analysis, media for learning English, and viewpoints on English teaching concerns. The reasons for choosing certain research topics and methods were dominated by issues of ease of research completion. The results contribute as a basis for future research to select variables, designs, issues, or study subjects to explore as well as for directing and defining the themes and research topics in the English Education study program. Higher education institutions in non-English speaking countries, such as Indonesia, have practised English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) in teaching-learning activities. Previous studies have explored EMI implementation policies and the difficulties of their implementation in Indonesian higher education contexts. However, this study examined the perception, comprehension, practices, and evaluation of EMI in Indonesia where English functions as a foreign language. The data of this study were taken from questionnaires distributed to 42 English lecturers. The results reveal that most lecturers’ speaking skills are in the very good category, 95% of lecturers understand the EMI concept well and always apply EMI to learning activities. In EMI practice, the lecturers face obstacles, especially in arguing concepts, explaining and clarifying concepts, giving examples, and defining concepts. In addition, the lecturers reported barriers to expressing content materials in English, preparing long materials, and requiring a longer time to explain materials. The study also reported some students' problems in EMI practice, especially dealing with their low confidence in using English and low ability to comprehend materials. To apply EMI successfully, both lecturers and students need to improve their speaking skills in the context of higher education in Indonesia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The study of the disappearance of local languages throughout the world continues to spark the interest of linguists. Even though this fear has been raised in several Indonesian government initiatives, academics have completed a comparatively limited study on local language vocabulary in Indonesia, particularly The Panai Malay Language (PML), which continues to decrease in its usage by its speakers. The objectives of this study are to describe the features of archaic vocabularies of the Panai Malay language and to investigate the pattern of Panai Malay language revitalization. The research was conducted using a qualitative research method with the ethnography research design by using 591 vocabularies as research data sources. The results of this study reveal that PML archaic vocabularies are found in 10 domains, namely the realm of family, agriculture, housing, food-beverage, customs, health, marine, human body, clothing, and human nature. The archaic domains of PML vocabularies are more dominantly found in the domains of human nature, namely 30 vocabularies or 8.15% for teenage respondents, while according to adult respondents 13 vocabulary (9.70%), and older people by 12 words (13.48%). The revitalization of archaic vocabularies of PML should be implemented through formal efforts by integrating the language material in the formal learning process through the Local Content Curriculum as well as by writing the PML Dictionary which should be shared through social media such as Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. Revitalization through non-formal channels should be carried out through communication training, publishing folklore by incorporating PML archaic vocabularies, and reactivating PML cultural activities. A retrospective study on English teachers' strategies to improve student fluency describes strategies implemented by teachers to enhance student fluency. It is also the most effective strategy for improving the speaking ability of students. Whereas there are many studies on teachers' speaking skills in Indonesia, there are still few studies argue teachers' speaking strategies to improve students' speaking skills. The purpose of this study is to find strategies that teachers can apply to enhance their students' fluency in English and effective strategies that can be used in learning to improve their students' fluency. This research method uses the qualitative research method and survey design. As a research tool, researcher used a questionnaire that was distributed to 10 English teachers who were used as respondents or research subjects by the researchers. The researchers then collected responses from the questionnaire, and from the results of the data collected, the researchers found that the strategies used by teachers had a significant impact on improving students' fluency. The methods used by teachers should be effective and understandable to students. Similar to, use of media to support achievement of learning indicators. Furthermore, teachers must be able to invite students to take an active role in learning by motivating them. Based on this research, we can conclude that speaking is one of the basic skills that language learners must master.
