3. Analysis of the Contact Stresses of Spur Gears Manufactured by 3D Printing from Composite Materials

Abstract

Additive manufacturing is a technology rapidly expanding on a number of industrial sectors. However, it is still hampered by low productivity, poor quality and uncertainty of final part mechanical properties. Materials for production of given components are composite materials, especially on the basis of so-termed CFRP, CRP (carbon fibre - so-termed polymers reinforced by carbon fibres). Composite fibers have properties that can add high strength and stiffness to the printed part. Like all manufacturing processes, composite printing is only suitable for certain design applications. The fibers have a predetermined width during printing and, due to geometrical limitations, can only be used to reinforce structures meeting a certain minimum thickness. The objective of this paper is to predict the contact stresses of carbon/onyx spur gear using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) results through the torque load. Finite element software ANSYS Workbench 20.0 is used to study the stress intensity factor of spur gear. A 3D solid model has been established for simulation of the spur gear which enables to understand the mechanical strength and strain at failure of the composite materials.

11. Contribution to the measurement of pipeline deformation.

Abstract

Pipeline routes may change their position due to the force of the soil they are loaded with. Knowledge of these displacements is important with respect to planning possible future maintenance activities. This paper presents a procedure for measuring displacements on partially and fully excavated pipelines on a selected section. For the partially excavated pipeline, a first measurement was carried out, where reference points (for defining the coordinate system) were defined at the pipeline ends of the excavation and measurement points were marked on the pipeline. The spatial coordinates of these points were determined by measurement. Repeated measurements were made on the fully excavated pipeline at the same measurement and reference points. The measurement on the partially excavated pipeline determined its initial shape and, after complete excavation, the resulting shape of the pipeline and the displacement of parts of the pipeline were determined by subsequent measurement. The methodology and results of the measurement on the in-service pipeline are presented in the paper. The TRITOP optical system of GOM GmbH was used and the measurement errors were determined. The results are presented for both straight and curved pipe sections. The measurement detected the change of the shape of the pipeline in full excavation compared to the shape in partial excavation. Abstract

The paper presents an analysis of impact force on stopper screw in axial piston hydraulic motor. The solution contains probabilistic description of input variables. If the output parameters of probabilistic solution are compared with arbitrary values and values acquired by analytical solution, the probability of proper operation of the device can be evaluated.

Abstract

EU legislation in the field of transport and energy is focused on the safety of transport and storage of LNG, environmental friendliness, but above all to protect the health of the population. LNG is an important alternative to conventional ship fuel. Under current IMO guidelines and ADN, LNG fuel tanks installed in the vessel must meet the criteria of the LNG tank from a group of "independent types A, B, or C". Specifically, the fuel tanks of inland waterway vessels are the type "C". One method for determining the strength characteristics of the LNG is the tank finite element method (FEM), which is evaluated using the HMH stress hypothesis. The result is a set of the maximum stress characteristics and assessment of the suitability of LNG tanks on inland vessels and floating terminals. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
