Among children, Acute Upper Respiratory Infections constitutes a leading cause of morbidity and mortality. It accounts for 4 million of the 15 million child deaths in the world, annually. Globally, 30-60% of paediatric outpatient attendance and 20-30% of hospital admissions are due to Acute upper respiratory tract infections. Mothers are the main caregivers for their children, so their behaviours may be used as a disease prevention technique. The aim of the study is to identify the parent’s knowledge and practice of upper respiratory tract infection of children with under five age groups. Pre experimental design was used and 104 parents were selected by using of purposive sampling technique. The knowledge and practice were assessed by using structured interview schedule and checklist. The results of the study shows that in knowledge the total mean score for pre-test was 2.33±0.886, whereas in post-test it was 8.89±0.81 with the mean difference of 6.56. It shows that parents had excellent knowledge on Upper respiratory tract infections after implementation of educational programme, it shows that teaching was more effective. The overall mean score for practice on Upper respiratory tract infections shows that, in pre-test the mean score was 6.85±1.413, whereas in post-test it was 20.49±1.115, with the mean difference of 13.64. It predicts that parents were improved their practice after implementation of education programme on Upper respiratory tract infections preventive measures. The calculated ‘t’ value for awareness and practice scores were 7.24 & 2.914 at 0.05 level respectively. Hence it shows that significant improvement of parents knowledge and practice of Upper respiratory tract infections after implementation of educational programme. Infection prevention is critical in children under the age of five, as is thorough handwashing while caring for children who have respiratory infections. The researchers proposed that special instructional and educational programs for mothers be conducted to inform them about the preventive measures that should be taken to avoid upper respiratory tract disease.

Introduction. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought into focus the mental health of various affected populations. It is known that the prevalence of epidemics accentuates or creates new stressors, including fear and worry for oneself or loved ones, constraints on physical movement and social activities due to quarantine, and sudden and radical lifestyle changes. Material and methods. This study aimed to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health and social support among adults in the age group of 18 to 60 years residing in the Farasan community, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Through a quantitative survey approach and descriptive design, the 48 adults were selected by the non-probability purposive sampling method. Initially, personal information was obtained. The self-administered questionnaire on the Impact of Event Scale-Revised (IES-R) was used, which was validated in Arabic to determine the extent of psychological impact after exposure to a public health crisis. The modified rating scale was used to assess the negative mental health impact; and impacts on social and family support, need-based Education about COVID-19, and its coping mechanism through pamphlets. Results. The results of the study were presented as the Psychological Impact of COVID-19 pandemic by "Impact of Event" total score (mean±SD), which was 36.4±17.31, "Intrusion" domain was 12.83±6.192, "Avoidance" domain was 13.19±6.81, while "Hyperarousal" domain was 10.38 ± 4.31. Also, 6 (12.5%) of the sample suffered a severe impact, 10 (20.8%) were moderately affected, and 12 (25%) were mildly affected. The younger people (18-30 years old), females, and university-educated people reported a higher psychological impact than older males or people with post-graduate degrees. Persons working in the medical field reported a lower psychological impact than others. Also, people who live in urban areas or have chronic diseases had higher psychological impact scores. Conclusion. Age and rural residency were negative predictors of the "Impact of Event" scores. At the same time, the female gender or the presence of chronic conditions was a positive predictor for the high "Impact of Event" score. Positive impacts had and family and social support.

Globally, Childhood obesity is one of the most serious public health challenges in the 21st century. In 2017, the Commission on Ending Childhood Obesity (ECHO) reported that worldwide obesity increased 10-fold among children and adolescents during the last 40 years. According to World Health Organization (WHO) & Childhood Obesity Surveillance Initiative (COSI) data, childhood obesity rates are highest in the Southern European Countries in the World. Childhood obesity is one of the most important public concerns due to increased incidence with a high morbidity rate. This study was intended to identify the parent's attitude on causes and its prevention of childhood obesity in Jazan province. With the Stratified Random sampling method, 100 obese children's parents were selected. Initially, personal information was obtained about a child and mother, and then "Google Form" 5-point Likert's scale was administered to assess parents' attitude on obesity and its prevention. It has four domains (General information on obesity - 2 questions, causes of obesity - 14, consequences of obesity - 4, and prevention of obesity - 10) with 30 questions. The results of the study are expressed as mean and standard deviation (mean percentage). The parent’s attitude score was expressed in terms of obesity 5.86 ± 1.27 (58.6%), causes 38.75 ± 6.52 (55.36%), consequences 11.65 ± 2.36 (58.25%) and prevention 29 ± 5.15 (58%). The overall mean score and standard deviation were 86.67 ± 13.81 (54.84%). The parents had an average attitude score (64.57%) on the causes and prevention of childhood obesity. There was no association between attitude scores with the demographic variables, except the variable age associated with attitude scores. Obesity prevention requires effective intervention measures. The research study proposed that family education and impulse are essential for treating childhood obesity. Schools play a significant role in promoting healthy eating habits and physical activity.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a new variable of the Coro-naviridae family. COVID-19 spreads primarily by contacting the virus either from a COVID-19-infected individual through coughing or sneezing or from COVID-19-contaminated surfaces. A Descriptive cross-sectional survey of 200 participants was conducted to explore the awareness, attitude, and practice of COVID-19 among the arts and science students studying at the University College of Farasan. Results: Of all the participants, 58% showed a moderate level of awareness, 70% presented a high attitude, and 56% presented an adequate practice regarding COVID-19. Significant positive correlation between awareness-attitude (r = 0.156, p-value < 0.001) and attitude-practice (r = 0.192, p-value < 0.001) were found. The majority of students with non-medical background agreed that the patient with COVID-19 could remain asymptomatic (p < 0.01) while considering the transmission route, the students from non-nursing background students were found more conscious (p < 0.01) that infection could spread through personal contact, respiratory droplets and possibly by feces. Despite the moderate public awareness, their attitude and practice were better. Therefore, public awareness must be improved to be prepared for epidemic and pandemic situations.

PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome) is also known as Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD), a complex reproductive and psychological circumstance, especially in female individuals, who frequently lack proper awareness and knowledge to attain optimal healthcare and their wellbeing consequences. PCOS is a hormonal imbalance that results in swollen ovaries with tiny cysts on the periphery. Objective: To assess and indicate the degree of understanding of PCOS to the nursing students in the University College of Farasan, Saudi Arabia. Methods: In 2020, a descriptive survey was conducted on PCOS awareness among nursing students at the University College of Farasan, using a 47-item study questionnaire for girls between 18 and 25 years. It is aware of PCOS clinical diagnosis, risk factors, complications, and steps to mitigate PCOS symptoms. The SPSS version 22 and the Chi-square test are used for analysis. Result:A sample of 200 were took part and observed that 45.5% of the students were in the age group of 19-21 years, had an underweight BMI and had a family history of menstrual disorders and diabetes. An average of 45.12 % wereaware of PCOS;11.9 % were PCOS patients, and 67.5% had learned PCOS throughsocial media,patients, books, and specialists,respectively. The majority of females were aware of the signs of endocrine conditions, contraceptive use, and a balanced diet.Many did not know the correlation between persisting disease, chronic illnesses, heart disease, inheritance, and early puberty.
