Abstract

Chagas disease (CD) is a parasitic disease caused by Trypanosoma cruzi protozoa, presenting with cardiomyopathy, megaesophagus, and/or megacolon. To determine the mechanisms of gastrointestinal (GI) CD tissue tropism, we systematically characterized the spatial localization of infection-induced metabolic and microbiome alterations, in a mouse model of CD. Notably, the impact of the transition between acute and persistent infection differed between tissue sites, with sustained large-scale effects of infection in the esophagus and large intestine, providing a potential mechanism for the tropism of CD within the GI tract. Infection affected acylcarnitine metabolism; carnitine supplementation prevented acute-stage CD mortality without affecting parasite burden by mitigating infection-induced metabolic disturbances and reducing cardiac strain. Overall, results identified a previously-unknown mechanism of disease tolerance in CD, with potential for new therapeutic regimen development. More broadly, results highlight the potential of spatially resolved metabolomics to provide insight into disease pathogenesis and infectious disease drug development.

Abstract

The present study examines the determinants affecting consumer satisfaction and behaviour intention in the hotel industry using the SERVQUAL model. The primary data was collected using a structured questionnaire through online and offline modes using convenience sampling techniques from November 2022 to April 2023. A total of 556 responses were received, but only 514 were found suitable for further analysis. The study's findings revealed that reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy positively influence customer satisfaction towards hotel services. Tangibility does not positively impact customer satisfaction. Moreover, results also revealed that satisfaction influences hotel guests' behaviour intention. The proposed model explained 67 percent variation in customer satisfaction and 65 percent variation in behaviour intention. The present study provides valuable insight to hotel operators to improve service quality, which will help them retain existing customers and attract new customers through positive word of mouth. Abstract

The parametric behavior of regular periodic arrays of rising bubbles is investigated with the aid of 2-dimensional BGK Lattice-Boltzmann (LB) simulators. The Recursive Projection Method is implemented and coupled to the LB simulators, accelerating their convergence towards what we term coarse steady states. Efficient stability/bifurcation analysis is performed by computing the leading eigenvalues/eigenvectors of the coarse time stepper. 49. Hydrothermal synthesis of La2O3–ZnO nanocomposites as electrode material for asymmetric supercapacitor applications.

Abstract

Bimetallic nano composite has gained more interest than monometallic nano particle due to their improved electrochemical characteristics. In the present work hydrothermally synthesised bi metallic nano composites (La2O3–ZnO) are studied for energy storage application. The conducted physico-chemical characterization results strongly revealed the phase formation of La2O3–ZnO nanocomposite material. The cyclic voltammetry results estimate a maximum specific capacitance of 615 F/g at 5 mV/s for the prepared composite. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy establishes the solution and charges transfer resistance as 0.53 Ω and 0.309 Ω, respectively. The galvanostatic charge–discharge studies reveal prolonged charging and discharging and better rate capability. The cyclic stability of the La2O3–ZnO nanocomposites achieved higher cyclic capacity and capacitive retention of 85% even after 2000 cycles. The nanocomposites (La2O3–ZnO) exhibited good electrochemical performance in asymmetric supercapacitor device application with superior energy (26.53) wh/kg and power density (1350) w/kg with better cyclic stability and capacitive retention of 77.5% even after 1000 cycles.
