5. Letter Blocks Intervention: A Holistic Approach in Addressing Spelling Difficulties in Elementary School.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify effective strategies and intervention tailored to address the spelling difficulties faced by particular group of learners. This study is quantitative research utilizing correlational research design to determine the relationship exist between spelling difficulties among the learners and the letter blocks intervention to the development of the learners (Grade4); to assess their progress in spelling difficulties (based on their scores on the Pre-test assessment. Moreover, with an overall mean score of 71.80 that demonstrate the effectiveness of the intervention in enhancing learners' spelling sills; interactive and engaging methods, such as using letter tiles and other manipulatives object, significantly enhance students' spelling abilities by providing concrete experiences that support phonemic awareness and orthographic knowledge. This hands-on approach allows students to physically manipulate letters and sounds, reinforcing their learning through multi-sensory engagement. Educators might consider devoting additional attention to improve spelling difficulties among the learners through various interventions especially learners in primary level. The pre-test results revealed that the students' spelling abilities were below the expected level, indicating low proficiency. However, the post-test scores showed a marked improvement, with the students' scores rising after the letter blocks intervention was introduced. Abstract

Los procedimientos endodónticos regenerativos (PER), se definen como procedimientos de base biológica, que tienen como objetivo inducir el reemplazo de las estructuras afectadas, incluyendo la dentina, los tejidos radiculares, y las células del complejo dentino-pulpar. Objetivos: Describir los hallazgos clínicos y radiográficos en procedimientos endodónticos regenerativos (PER), en la clínica de posgrado de endodoncia de la Universidad Santo Tomás – Bogotá. Período 2010 – 2019. Método: Se realizó un estudio descriptivo retrospectivo de serie de casos. 10 pacientes cumplieron con los criterios de selección con 11 dientes tratados. Resultados: El 60% de los PER se realizó en niñas, la edad promedio fue de 11.8 años; el 72.7% de los casos tenían antecedente trauma dentoalveolar y el 27.3% caries, los diagnósticos más frecuentes fueron necrosis pulpar y absceso apical crónico con 27.2% cada uno. La revascularización pulpar se realizó en 10 dientes. El protocolo de irrigación más utilizado fue NaOCl al 1% y EDTA al 17%. El medicamento intraconducto más utilizado fue la pasta triantibiótica de Hoshino; El biocerámico de mayor uso fue el MTA. Los 11 dientes se encontraban presentes en boca, 3 dientes presentaban pigmentación coronal. Las pruebas de percusión, palpación , de sensibilidad térmicas y eléctricas fueron negativas ; 8 dientes presentaron elongación radicular y engrosamiento de las paredes del conducto radicular, 9 dientes presentaron selle apical, la cicatrización periapical se observó en todos los dientes. Conclusiones: La aplicación de las técnicas de PER mejoran el pronóstico a largo plazo de dientes permanentes inmaduros afectados como consecuencia del trauma dentoalveolar y patologías pulpares y periapicales Regenerative endodontic procedures (PER) are defined as biologically based procedures that aim to induce the replacement of affected structures, including dentin, root tissues, and cells of the dentin-pulp complex. Objectives: To describe the clinical and radiographic findings in regenerative endodontic procedures (PER), in the postgraduate endodontics clinic of the Santo Tomás University - Bogotá. The most used intracanal medication was Hoshino's triantibiotic paste; The most widely used bioceramic was MTA. All 11 teeth were present in the mouth, 3 teeth had coronal pigmentation. Percussion, palpation, thermal and electrical sensitivity tests were negative; 8 teeth presented root elongation and thickening of the root canal walls, 9 teeth presented apical sealing, periapical scarring was observed in all teeth. Conclusions: The application of PER techniques improves the long-term prognosis of immature permanent teeth affected as a consequence of dentoalveolar trauma and pulpal and periapical pathologies. Abstract

The Great Salt Lake (GSL) is one of the largest migratory stops for many species of birds in North America. At Rozel Point, along the banks of the Great Salt Lake, there are tar seeps where some species of birds have gotten entrapped and died. These petroleum seeps are both naturally occurring and human created. The temperature that the seeps become sticky, the possibility of prey animals drawing predators in, and the appearance of the tar seeps are all important aspects of why birds are drawn to these seeps. Using motion sensor cameras and temperature monitoring devices, the animals that are visiting the tar seeps and the temperature variation of the seeps were monitored. Our data from summer 2018 and 2019 suggest that the most common species entrapped at Rozel Point are American White Pelicans. The purpose of this study is to monitor activity at the tar seeps and to keep track of the mortalities that occur there, observing the preservations of the animals in real time.

The Psychosocial Adjustment to Illness Scale (PAIS) is often used as a self-report measure, although its reliability and validity have not been widely tested on persons with cancer. A study was undertaken to confirm the seven conceptual scales of the PAIS-SR and investigate its validty, based on a large sample of patients with a variety of cancer diagnoses. The results support validity of the PAIS-SR and its use in cancer research.

Abstract

BACKGROUND Degludec is an ultralong-Acting, once-daily basal insulin that is approved for use in adults, adolescents, and children with diabetes. Previous open-label studies have shown lower day-To-day variability in the glucose-lowering effect and lower rates of hypoglycemia among patients who received degludec than among those who received basal insulin glargine. However, data are lacking on the cardiovascular safety of degludec. METHODS We randomly assigned 7637 patients with type 2 diabetes to receive either insulin degludec (3818 patients) or insulin glargine U100 (3819 patients) once daily between dinner and bedtime in a double-blind, treat-To-Target, event-driven cardiovascular outcomes trial. The primary composite outcome in the time-To-event analysis was the first occurrence of an adjudicated major cardiovascular event (death from cardiovascular causes, nonfatal myocardial infarction, or nonfatal stroke) with a prespecified noninferiority margin of 1.3. Adjudicated severe hypoglycemia, as defined by the American Diabetes Association, was the prespecified, multiplicity-Adjusted secondary outcome. RESULTS Of the patients who underwent randomization, 6509 (85.2%) had established cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, or both. At baseline, the mean age was 65.0 years, the mean duration of diabetes was 16.4 years, and the mean (±SD) glycated hemoglobin level was 8.4±1.7%; 83.9% of the patients were receiving insulin.
