The observation of neutrino oscillations and masses motivates the extension of the standard model with right handed neutrinos, leading to heavy neutrino states possibly in the electroweak scale, which could be impacted by new high-scale weakly coupled physics. A systematic tool for studying these interactions is the neutrino-extended standard model effective field theory $\nu$SMEFT. In this work we study the prospects of the future LHeC electron-proton collider to discover or constrain the $\nu$SMEFT interactions, performing the first dedicated and realistic analysis of the well known lepton-trijet signals, both for the lepton flavor violating $p ~ e^{-} \rightarrow \mu^{-} + 3 \mathrm{j}$ (LFV) and the lepton number violating $p ~ e^{-} \rightarrow \mu^{+} + 3 \mathrm{j}$ (LNV) channels, for HNLs masses in the electroweak scale range: $100 ~\rm GeV \leq m_N \leq 500 ~\rm GeV$. The obtained sensitivity prospects show that the LHeC with $100 ~\rm fb^{-1}$ luminosity could be able to probe the scenario of a heavy $N$ and constrain the effective couplings to a region of the parameter space as tight as the bounds that are currently considered for the $\mathcal{O}(10)$GeV scale masses, with effective couplings of $\mathcal{O}(10^{-1})$ for NP scale $\Lambda=1 \rm TeV$., Comment: Final version accepted for publication in EPJC. 8 figures, 3 tables

Knowledge of the composition of the Earth's interior is highly relevant to many geophysical and geochemical problems. Neutrino oscillations are modified in a non-trivial way by the matter effects and can provide valuable and unique information not only on the density but also on the chemical and isotopic composition of the deep regions of the planet. In this paper, we re-examine the possibility of performing an oscillation tomography of the Earth with atmospheric neutrinos and antineutrinos to obtain information on the composition and density of the outer core and the mantle, complementary to that obtained by geophysical methods. Particular attention is paid to the D$^{\prime \prime}$ layer just above the core-mantle boundary and to the water (hydrogen) content in the mantle transition zone. Our analysis is based on a Monte-Carlo simulation of the energy and azimuthal angle distribution of $\mu$-like events generated by neutrinos. Taking as reference a model of the Earth consisting of 55 concentric layers with constant densities determined from the PREM, we evaluate the effect on the number of events due to changes in the composition and density of the outer core and the mantle. To examine the capacity of a detector like ORCA to resolve such variations, we construct regions in planes of two of these quantities where the statistical significance of the discrepancies between the reference and the modified Earth are less than $1\sigma$. In this work, we study the propagation of high energy neutrinos produced in extragalactic sources including the effect of a possible interaction with ultralight axion-like particles (UALP) with a mass $m_a\sim 10^{-22} {\rm eV}$ as the constituents of dark matter (DM) under the assumption that their coupling to neutrinos is dominant. We compute the cross section and describe the propagation of a diffuse neutrino flux using transport equations for each mass eigenstate. This allows us to obtain the neutrino fluxes of the different flavors to be observed at the Earth with neutrino telescopes under different assumptions for the flavor composition emitted at the sources and for a normal ordering (NO) or an inverted ordering (IO) of the neutrino masses. If the coupling of neutrinos with UALPs is the same for all flavors ($g_{\nu a}$), we find that interactions change the flavor composition of neutrinos arriving on Earth for $g_{\nu a}\gtrsim 0.5\,{\rm GeV}^{-1}$, causing the electron(muon) flavor to dominate in the NO(IO) case for neutrino energies above $\sim 10^5\,{\rm GeV}$. The extension of the standard model with new high-scale weakly coupled physics involving right-handed neutrinos in an effective field theory framework (SMNEFT) allows for a systematic study of heavy neutrinos phenomenology in current and future experiments. We exploit the outstanding angular resolution in future lepton colliders to study the sensitivity of forward-backward asymmetries to discover the possible single production of heavy Majorana neutrinos via $e^{+}e^{-} \to N \nu$, followed by a purely leptonic decay $N \to \mu^{-} \mu^{+} \nu$ or a semi-leptonic decay $N \to \mu^{-} \mathrm{j} \mathrm{j} $, for masses $m_N > 50$ GeV. In this regime, we consider the $N$ production and decays to be dominated by scalar and vectorial four-fermion $d=6$ single $N_R$ operators. This is an alternative analysis to searches using displaced vertices and fat jets, in a higher mass regime, where the $N$ is short-lived but can be found by the angular distribution of its decay products. We find that a forward-backward asymmetry between the final muons in the pure leptonic decay mode provides a sensitivity up to 12$\sigma$ for $m_N=100$ GeV, for effective couplings $\alpha=0.2$ and new physics scale $\Lambda=1$ TeV. We study the possibility of future $e^{+}e^{-}$ colliders to disentangle different new physics contributions to the production of heavy sterile Majorana neutrinos in the lepton number violating channel $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow l^{+} l^{+}+ 4 jets$, with $l=e, \mu, \tau$. This is done investigating the final anti-tau polarization trails and initial beam polarization dependence of the signal on effective operators with distinct Dirac-Lorentz structure contributing to the Majorana neutrino production and decay, which parameterize new physics from a higher energy scale. Within the framework of physics beyond the standard model we study the possibility that mesons produced in the atmosphere by the cosmic ray flux, decay to heavy Majorana neutrino and these mostly to photons in the low mass region. We study the photon flux produced by sterile Majorana neutrinos ($N$) decaying after passing through a massive and opaque object such as a mountain. In order to model the production of $N$'s in the atmosphere and their decay to photons, we consider the interaction between the Majorana neutrinos and the standard matter as modeled by an effective theory. We then calculate the heavy neutrino flux originated by the decay of mesons in the atmosphere. We consider the possibility of Majorana neutrinos production at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) by studying the $pp \rightarrow l_i^{+} l_j^{+} +2~jets$ ($l_j\equiv e ,\mu$) process which, due to leptonic number violation, is a clear signature for intermediate Majorana neutrino contributions. The interactions between Majorana neutrinos and the Standard Model particles are obtained from an effective lagrangian approach. Majorana neutrinos with masses of a few $GeV$ are long-lived neutral particles, and we take advantage of its measurable decay length: in the same-sign dilepton channel, we exploit this fact imposing cuts that reject the $SM$ background, and analyze the distribution corresponding to the angle between the final leptons, using a forward-backward asymmetry to study the effects of the different gauge invariant operators. We also study the $pp\rightarrow l_i^+ \nu \gamma$ process, which is dominant for low $m_N$ masses if tensorial one-loop generated new physics contributions are present. We study the effects produced by sterile Majorana neutrinos on the $\nu_{\tau}$ flux traversing the Earth, considering the interaction between the Majorana neutrinos and the standard matter as modeled by an effective theory. The surviving tau-neutrino flux is calculated using transport equations including Majorana neutrino production and decay. If high-energy neutrinos propagate in a background of ultralight scalar field particles of dark matter ($m_\varphi \sim 10^{-23}$eV), neutrino-dark matter interactions can play a role and affect the neutrino flux. In this work we analyse this effect using transport equations that account for the neutrino regeneration as well as absorption, and we consider the neutrino flux propagation in the extragalactic medium and also through the galactic halo of dark matter. We study the decay of heavy sterile Majorana neutrinos according to the interactions obtained from an effective general theory. We describe the two and three-body decays for a wide range of neutrino masses. The results obtained and presented in this work could be useful for the study of the production and detection of this particles in a variety of high energy physics experiments and astrophysical observations. We investigate the possibility of detecting Majorana neutrinos at the $e^+e^-$ Next Linear Collider (NLC). We study the $l_j^{\mp} l_k^{\mp} + jets$ ($l_j\equiv e ,\mu ,\tau$) final states which are, due to leptonic number violation, a clear signature for intermediate Majorana neutrino contributions. Such signals (final leptons of the same-sign) are not possible if the heavy neutrinos have Dirac nature. Recently H.Georgi has introduced the concept of unparticles in order to describe the low energy physics of a nontrivial scale invariant sector of an effective theory. We investigate its physical effects on the neutrino flux to be detected in a kilometer cubic neutrino telescope such as IceCube. We study the effects, on different observables, of the survival neutrino flux after through the Earth and the regeneration originated in the neutral currents. We calculate the contribution of unparticle physics to the neutrino-nucleon interaction and, then, to the observables in order to evaluate detectable effects in IceCUbe. Our results are compared with the bounds obtained by other non-underground experiments. IceCube, a cubic kilometer neutrino telescope will be capable of probing neutrino-nucleon interactions in the ultrahigh energy regime, far beyond the energies reached by colliders. We study the precession of accretion disks in the context of gamma-ray burst inner engines. With an accretion disk model that allows for neutrino cooling, we evaluate the possible periods of disk precession and nutation due to the Lense-Thirring effect. Assuming jet ejection perpendicular to the disk midplane and a typical intrinsic time dependence for the burst, we find possible gamma-ray light curves with temporal microstructure similar to what is observed in some subsamples. We conclude that the precession and nutation of a neutrino-cooled accretion disk in the burst engine might be responsible for some events, especially those with a slow rise and a fast decay., Comment: 7 pages, 8 figures, accepted for publication in A&A

We study the passage of UHE neutrinos through the Earth in order to perform an absorption tomography of its inner structure. The aim of this work is to study the extraction methods of the Earth's density, in this conditions, we do not need to implement a realistic Monte Carlo simulation, as we are only interested in comparing the goodness of a standard method \cite{ralston} with the one we propose. The Earth's density is reconstructed using the 2-d Radon transform and we compare the density obtained considering neutral current regeneration through the complete transport equation, with the one obtained making use of the effective cross section approximation (standard method). We see that the effective cross section leads in general to inaccurate results, especially for flat initial neutrino fluxes, while the full transport equation method works regardless of the initial flux. Finally, an error propagation analysis made for different uncertainties in the surviving neutrino flux shows that the recovered density presents a percentage uncertainty less than two times the uncertainty in the flux., Comment: 13 pages, 10 figures
