Quantum correlations encoded in photonic Laguerre-Gaussian modes were shown to be related to the Gouy phase shifts (D. Kawase et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 101, 050501 (2008)) allowing for a non-destructive manipulation of photonic quantum states. In this work we exploit the relation between phase space correlations of biphotons produced by spontaneously parametric down conversion (SPDC) as encoded in the logarithmic negativity (LN) and the Gouy phase as they are diffracted through an asymmetrical double slit setup. Using an analytical approach based on a double-gaussian approximation for type-I SPDC biphotons, we show that measurements of Gouy phase differences provide information on their phase space entanglement variation, governed by the physical parameters of the experiment and expressed by the LN via covariance matrix elements.

We propose experimental measurements of the logarithmic negativity, which quantifies quantum correlations using Gouy phase measurements in an asymmetric double-slit interference experiment for twin photons. This is possible because both quantities have analogous dependence with the spatial confinement by the slits and enables one to manipulate the portion of entanglement by the Gouy phase. In order to obtain those measurements, we need to work in a regime where the position correlations between particles are strong, therefore we investigate such correlations for biphotons. Since we would like to handle entanglement quantifiers through the Gouy phase, we analyze the Gouy phase difference for two entangled photons in an asymmetric double-slit interference experiment.

In this report, we present a discussion about different frameworks to perform precise higher-order computations for high-energy physics. These approaches implement novel strategies to deal with infrared and ultraviolet singularities in quantum field theories. We compute the two-loop $\beta$-function of scalar and spinorial quantum electrodynamics as well as pure Yang-Mills and quantum chromodynamics using the background field method in a fully quadridimensional setup using Implicit Regularization (IREG). Moreover, a thorough comparison with dimensional approaches such as conventional dimensional regularization (CDR) and dimensional reduction (DRED) is presented. Subtleties related to Lorentz algebra contractions/symmetric integrations inside divergent integrals as well as renormalisation schemes are carefully discussed within IREG where the renormalisation constants are fully defined as basic divergent integrals to arbitrary loop order. A realization of the composite Higgs scenario in the context of the effective model with the $SU(2)_L\times U(1)_R$ symmetric four-Fermi interactions proposed by Miransky, Tanabashi and Yamawaki is studied. The model implements Nambu's mechanism of dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking leading to the formation of $\bar tt$ and $\bar bb$ quark condensates. We explore the vacuum structure and spectrum of the model by using the Schwinger proper-time method. As a direct consequence of this mechanism, the Higgs acquires a mass in accord with its experimental value. The present prediction essentially differs from the known overestimated value, $m_\chi= 2m_t$, making more favourable the top condensation scenario presented here. The mass formulas for the members of the second Higgs doublet are also obtained. The Nambu sum rule is discussed. It is shown that the anomalous $U(1)_A$ symmetry breaking modifies this rule at next to leading order in $1/N_c$., Comment: 14 pages, version to appear in EPJC

We evaluate the effect of quantum electrodynamics on the correlations between Dirac field modes corresponding electron-positron pairs of opposite momenta generated by expansion of an asymptotically flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universe. The mutual information of out-going electron-positron pairs is evaluated to leading order in the coupling strength and compared with the free case. It is shown a decrease in the mutual information between the electron and positron. In addition, it is found that the change in the electron-positron mutual information depends on how the momentum is distributed between the positron and photon modes., Comment: 11 pages, 6 figures. Beyond the Standard Model (SM) extensions usually include extended Higgs sectors. Models with singlet or doublet fields are the simplest ones that are compatible with the $\rho$ parameter constraint. The discovery of new non-SM Higgs bosons and the identification of the underlying model requires dedicated Higgs properties analyses. In this paper, we compare several Higgs sectors featuring 3 CP-even neutral Higgs bosons that are also motivated by their simplicity and their capability to solve some of the flaws of the SM. They are: the SM extended by a complex singlet field (CxSM), the singlet extension of the 2-Higgs-Doublet Model (N2HDM), and the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric SM extension (NMSSM). In addition, we analyse the CP-violating 2-Higgs-Doublet Model (C2HDM), which provides 3 neutral Higgs bosons with a pseudoscalar admixture. This allows us to compare the effects of singlet and pseudoscalar admixtures. Through dedicated scans of the allowed parameter space of the models, we analyse the phenomenologically viable scenarios from the view point of the SM-like Higgs boson and of the signal rates of the non-SM-like Higgs bosons to be found. In particular, we analyse the effect of singlet/pseudoscalar admixture, and the potential to differentiate these models in the near future. This is supported by a study of couplings sums of the Higgs bosons to massive gauge bosons and to fermions, where we identify features that allow us to distinguish the models, in particular when only part of the Higgs spectrum is discovered. This Report summarizes the results of the activities of the LHC Higgs Cross Section Working Group in the period 2014-2016. The main goal of the working group was to present the state-of-the-art of Higgs physics at the LHC, integrating all new results that have appeared in the last few years. The first part compiles the most up-to-date predictions of Higgs boson production cross sections and decay branching ratios, parton distribution functions, and off-shell Higgs boson production and interference effects. The second part discusses the recent progress in Higgs effective field theory predictions, followed by the third part on pseudo-observables, simplified template cross section and fiducial cross section measurements, which give the baseline framework for Higgs boson property measurements. The fourth part deals with the beyond the Standard Model predictions of various benchmark scenarios of Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, extended scalar sector, Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model and exotic Higgs boson decays. We describe the preliminary design of a magnetograph and visible-light imager instrument to study the solar dynamo processes through observations of the solar surface magnetic field distribution. The instrument will provide measurements of the vector magnetic field and of the line-of-sight velocity in the solar photosphere. As the magnetic field anchored at the solar surface produces most of the structures and energetic events in the upper solar atmosphere and significantly influences the heliosphere, the development of this instrument plays an important role in reaching the scientific goals of The Atmospheric and Space Science Coordination (CEA) at the Brazilian National Institute for Space Research (INPE). In particular, the CEA's space weather program will benefit most from the development of this technology. We expect that this project will be the starting point to establish a strong research program on Solar Physics in Brazil. Our main aim is acquiring progressively the know-how to build state-of-art solar vector magnetograph and visible-light imagers for space-based platforms to contribute to the efforts of the solar-terrestrial physics community to address the main unanswered questions on how our nearby Star works., Comment: 5 pages, 1 figure

The spectral-weight distribution in recent neutron scattering experiments on the parent compound La$_2$CuO$_4$ (LCO), which are limited in energy range to about 450\,meV, is studied in the framework of the Hubbard model on the square lattice with effective nearest-neighbor transfer integral $t$ and on-site repulsion $U$. Our study combines a number of numerical and theoretical approaches, including, in addition to standard treatments, density matrix renormalization group calculations for Hubbard cylinders and a suitable spinon approach for the spin excitations. Our results confirm that the $U/8t$ magnitude suitable to LCO corresponds to intermediate $U$ values smaller than the bandwidth $8t$, which we estimate to be $8t \approx 2.36$ eV for $U/8t\approx 0.76$. This confirms the unsuitability of the conventional linear spin-wave theory. Our theoretical studies provide evidence for the occurrence of ground-state d-wave spinon pairing in the half-filled Hubbard model on the square lattice. This pairing applies only to the rotated-electron spin degrees of freedom, but it could play a role in a possible electron d-wave pairing formation upon hole doping. We find that the higher-energy spin spectral weight extends to about 566 meV and is located at and near the momentum $[\pi,\pi]$. The continuum weight energy-integrated intensity vanishes or is extremely small at momentum $[\pi,0]$. This behavior of this intensity is consistent with that of the spin waves observed in recent high-energy neutron scattering experiments, which are damped at the momentum $[\pi,0]$. We suggest that future LCO neutron scattering experiments scan the energies between 450 meV and 566 meV and momenta around $[\pi,\pi]$., Comment: 23 pages, 5 figures

In this paper a description of the Hubbard model on the square lattice with nearest-neighbor transfer integral $t$, on-site repulsion $U$, and $N_a^2\gg 1$ sites consistent with its exact global $SO(3)\times SO(3)\times U(1)$ symmetry is constructed. Our studies profit from the interplay of that recently found global symmetry of the model on any bipartite lattice with the transformation laws under a suitable electron - rotated-electron unitary transformation of a well-defined set of operators and quantum objects. For $U/4t>0$ the occupancy configurations of these objects generate the energy eigenstates that span the one- and two-electron subspace. Such a subspace as defined in this paper contains nearly the whole spectral weight of the excitations generated by application onto the zero-spin-density ground state of one- and two-electron operators. Our description involves three basic objects: charge $c$ fermions, spin-1/2 spinons, and $\eta$-spin-1/2 $\eta$-spinons. Alike in chromodynamics the quarks have color but all quark-composite physical particles are color-neutral, the $\eta$-spinon (and spinons) that are not invariant under that transformation have $\eta$ spin 1/2 (and spin 1/2) but are part of $\eta$-spin-neutral (and spin-neutral) $2\nu$-$\eta$-spinon (and $2\nu$-spinon) composite $\eta\nu$ fermions (and $s\nu$ fermions) where $\nu=1,2,...$ is the number of $\eta$-spinon (and spinon) pairs.The description introduced here is consistent with a Mott-Hubbard insulating ground state with antiferromagnetic long-range order for half filling at $x=0$ hole concentration and a ground state with short-range spin order for a well-defined range of finite hole concentrations $x>0$., Comment: 62 pages, no figures

It is found that for on-site interaction $U\neq 0$ the local $SU(2)\times SU(2) \times U(1)$ gauge symmetry of the Hubbard model on a bipartite lattice with vanishing transfer integral $t=0$ can be lifted to a global $[SU(2)\times SU(2)\times U(1)]/Z_2^2=SO(3)\times SO(3)\times U(1)$ symmetry in the presence of the kinetic-energy hopping term of the Hamiltonian with $t>0$. The generator of the new found hidden independent charge global U(1) symmetry is one half the rotated-electron number of singly-occupied sites operator. We apply the Implicit Regularization Technique (IR) in a non-abelian gauge theory. We show that IR preserves gauge symmetry as encoded in relations between the renormalizations constants required by the Slavnov-Taylor identities at the one loop level of QCD. We investigate the role of undetermined finite contributions generated by radiative corrections in a $SU(2)\times SU(2)$ linear sigma model with quarks. Although some of such terms can be absorbed in the renormalization procedure, one such contribution is left in the expression for the pion decay constant. We investigate the influence of the topology on generic features of the persistent current in n-fold twisted Moebius strips formed of quasi one--dimensional mesoscopic rings, both for free electrons and in the weakly disordered regime. We compare a momentum space implicit regularisation (IR) framework with other renormalisation methods which may be applied to dimension specific theories, namely Differential Renormalisation (DfR) and the BPHZ formalism. In particular, we define what is meant by minimal subtraction in IR in connection with DfR and dimensional renormalisation (DR) .We illustrate with the calculation of the gluon self energy a procedure by which a constrained version of IR automatically ensures gauge invariance at one loop level and handles infrared divergences in a straightforward fashion. Moreover, using the $\phi^4_4$ theory setting sun diagram as an example and comparing explicitly with the BPHZ framework, we show that IR directly displays the finite part of the amplitudes. We then construct a parametrization for the ambiguity in separating the infinite and finite parts whose parameter serves as renormalisation group scale for the Callan-Symanzik equation. This is the second in a series of two contributions in which we set out to establish a novel momentum space framework to treat field theoretical infinities in perturbative calculations when parity-violating objects occur. Since no analytic continuation on the space-time dimension is effected, this framework can be particularly useful to treat dimension-specific theories. Moreover arbitrary local terms stemming from the underlying infinities of the model can be properly parametrized. We extend an implicit regularization scheme to be applicable in the $n$-dimensional space-time. Within this scheme divergences involving parity violating objects can be consistently treated without recoursing to dimensional continuation. Special attention is paid to differences between integrals of the same degree of divergence, typical of one loop calculations, which are in principle undetermined. We show how to use symmetries in order to fix these quantities consistently. We illustrate with examples in which regularization plays a delicate role in order to both corroborate and elucidate the results in the literature for the case of CPT violation in extended $QED_4$, topological mass generation in 3-dimensional gauge theories and the Schwinger Model and its chiral version., Comment: 21 pages, LaTeX, to appear in Phys.Rev.D

The dynamics of the composition of uniform Bose condensates involving two species capable of reciprocal interconversion is treated in terms of a collective quasi-spin model. This collective model quickly reduces to classical form towards the thermodynamic limit.
