Abstract Due to the limited hydrophobic properties of porcelain insulators, applying anti-pollution flashover coatings is crucial to enhance their functionality. This research outlines a classification system for assessing contamination levels on 22 kV porcelain insulators, both with and without coatings. It synthesizes six classification criteria derived through both numerical simulations and experimental studies to effectively gauge contamination severity. The study examined insulators treated with Room Temperature Vulcanizing (RTV) silicone under three different conditions: uncoated, partially coated, and fully coated. Additionally, the research assessed the effects of humidity on these polluted insulators to understand environmental impacts on their performance. The criteria, which are the flashover voltage (x1), fifth to third harmonics of leakage current (x2), maximum electric field (x3), total harmonic index (x4), insulation resistance (x5) and dielectric loss (x6), were proposed for evaluating the insulator’s string condition. The finite element method (FEM) was used to simulate an electric field. Then, based on the proposed criteria, the performances of the Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Machine (SVM), K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), and Multi-layer Perceptron (MLP) have been trained and compared to classify polluted insulator conditions with and without coating. The established criteria facilitate precise monitoring of the condition of high-voltage insulators, ensuring quick and effective responses that support the stability of the electrical power system.

Abstract Background Fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB) is one of the regional nerve blocks used to reduce pain after total hip arthroplasty (THA). We aim to assess the efficacy of FICB in reducing post-operative pain and opioid consumption. Methods We searched PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, Embase, and Scopus on February 19, 2023, and we updated our search in august 2023 using relevant search strategy. Studies were extensively screened for eligibility by title and abstract screening, followed by full-text screening. We extracted the data from the included studies, and then pooled the data as mean difference (MD) or odds ratio (OR) with a 95% confidence interval (CI), using Review Manager Software (ver. 3.5). Debido a la contingencia por Covid-19, los Estados deciden frenar la economía y delimitar su espacio personal. Esto provocó como respuesta colectiva la segregación debida al apalabramiento al cual fue sometido el discurso por parte de la ciencia y el capitalismo. La pregunta investigativa ¿qué es lo estructural del sujeto que, apalabrado por el discurso de la ciencia, encuentra formas de segregar? que orientó la reflexión se respondió metodológicamente por el rigor en la conjetura. Para ello, se desarrollaron dos acápites: primero, “Cuerpo saludable: antonomasia del discurso de la salud”, donde se abordó el tránsito de la biopolítica/liberalismo a la psicopolítica/neoliberalismo, en relación con el discurso del capitalismo y de la ciencia; y segundo, “Afectos y segregación: mecanismos ante la angustia”, donde se presentó el discurso de la ciencia como el nuevo Sujeto Supuesto Saber en su estrecha relación con la angustia, que los afectos del miedo y del odio recubren, generando segregación frente al Real de la muerte y al Real del virus. Se concluyó que lo que subyace a la segregación es la evasión o el exterminio del otro, en quien el sujeto ha localizado el displacer que le es propio.

Pseudohypoparathyroidism (PHP) is a rare metabolic disorder, characterized by target organ resistance to parathyroid hormone (PTH), affecting PTH mediated calcium homeostasis in the body. This PTH resistance biochemically manifests with hypocalcaemia and hyperphosphataemia in spite of normal or elevated serum PTH level. Here we present a case scenario of PHP type 1a in a young male patient who manifested with painful muscle spasm, numbness and tingling sensations in all four limbs; and had features of Albright’s hereditary osteodystrophy such as round face, short neck, short stature, heterotopic calcifications and skeletal abnormalities (short 4th and 5th fingers). He was emergently managed with intravenous calcium gluconate therapy for hypocalcemic tetany. Later, he was put on high dose oral calcium salt with vitamin D therapy and discharged on stable condition. In a recent study, we evaluated the remedial properties of gold nanoparticles (gold NPs) green-formulated by Origanum majorana on spinal cord injury in rats. UV-Vis, FE-SEM, FT-IR, and TEM tests were applied to characterize the recent gold NPs. The IC50 values of O. majorana, gold NPs, and butylated hydroxytoluene were 382, 250, and 165 µg/mL, respectively, against DPPH. In in vivo tests, 40 male rats were grouped into four groups: the sham, intact, control, and gold NP (50 µg/kg) groups. Hematoxylin and eosin staining was done to test the lesions post-injury. To determine the neural conduction recovery, somatosensory evoked potential experiments were carried out. For determining the astrogliosis, the GFAP expression was evaluated. All rats were assessed for behavior outcomes using the Basso, Beattie, and Bresnahan (BBB) scores every week after spinal cord injury onset. The neuroprotective effects of gold NPs caused improvement in the spinal cord injury contusive model in Wistar rats. Delayed responses were reduced significantly and BBB scores were raised significantly in the gold NP group on sensory tests. The highest reduction in GFAP was evident in the gold NP group. The ventral motor neuron number raised significantly and cavity areas reduced significantly in the gold NP group. Electromyography findings indicated notable improvement of hindlimbs in the gold NP (50 µg/kg) group.

Currently, doxorubicin (DOX) is one of the medications commonly used in chemotherapy to treat different types of tumors.Nonetheless, despite being effective in multiple tumors, yet its use is limited owing to its cytotoxic effects, the therapeutic use of DOX has been limited. This work aimed to explore whether curcumin (CMN) can prevents DOX-induced cardiotoxicity in rats. Four groups of rats were created, with the first functioning as a control, while the second group received CMN. DOX alone was administered to the third group, whereas CMN and DOX were administered to the fourth group. Lipid peroxidation assessed as Malondialdehyde (MDA), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), oxidative stress markers as catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and inflammatory markers as tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) in heart homogenates, each one was assessed. Heart specimens was investigated histologically and ultrastructurally. Increased, AST, and ALT serum levels, increased MDA levels, decreased SOD and CAT levels, and increased TNF-α concentrations in heart homogenates were all signs of DOX-induced myocardial injury. Histological and ultrastructural examinations revealed vacuoles and larger, swollen mitochondria in the cytoplasm. Furthermore, DOX caused significant changes in the myocardium, most notably nuclei disintegration, myofibrillar loss, and myocyte vacuolization. Using CMN with DOX reduced the harmful consequences of DOX on the myocardium by returning the increased AST and ALT levels to their original levels as compared to the control and reducing them. In cardiac tissue, CMN significantly increased the concentrations of SOD and CAT and significantly decreased the concentrations of MDA and TNF-α. Biochemical and histological studies have demonstrated that CMN has a heart-protective effect that might be related to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capabilities.

Polymeric insulators, in particular silicone rubber (SIR) are lightweight, have good hydrophobicity characteristics, and are easy to carry and install. They are commonly used for outdoor insulation in power lines. However, pollution, UV radiation, temperature, discharge, wetness, and stress can cause them to degrade over time, losing their electrical properties. Therefore, evaluating the ageing and degradation of polymeric insulators under different conditions becomes crucial. This paper investigates the ageing effects of the polymeric insulators with differences in pollution, applied voltage, hydrophobicity class, and geometrical structures of insulators. The investigation includes the experimental tests of the insulators’ electrical properties such as leakage current and flashover voltage, after assessing the initial characteristics of insulators based on their age and supply voltage. In addition, the aged polymeric insulator model based on an equivalent circuit model was developed to determine the leakage current and breakdown voltage of aged insulators. Moreover, an artificial neural network model is carried out to predict the critical leakage current and flashover voltage of the insulator under the ageing effect. The experiment results were used to validate the accuracy of the proposed models; with an aggregate error of less than 10%, the proposed models appeared to be satisfactory. These models can serve as a scholarly resource for designing, operating, and maintaining insulators, especially in polluted environments.

Abstract The photovoltaic (PV) solar panels are negatively impacted by dust accumulation. The variance in dust density from point to point raises the risk of forming hot spots. Therefore, a prepared PDMS/SiO2 nanocoating was used to reduce the accumulated dust on the PV panels' surface. However, the effectiveness of these coatings is greatly influenced by geographical and climatic factors. Three identical PV modules were installed to run comparable experimental tests simultaneously. The first module is coated with the prepared PDMS/SiO2 nanocoating, the second is coated with commercial nanocoating, and the third module is uncoated and serves as a reference. The prepared nanocoating was hydrophobic and had a self-cleaning effect. The fill factors for the reference panel (RP), commercial-nanocoated panel (CNP), and prepared-nanocoated panel (PNP), were 0.68, 0.69, and 0.7, respectively. After 40 days of exposure to outdoor conditions, the dust densities on the RP and PNP panels' surfaces were 10 and 4.39 g/m2, respectively. Thus, the nanocoated panel's efficiency was found to be higher than that of the reference panel by 30.7%.
