Obesity has a complex multifactorial etiology and is characterized by excessive accumulation of adipose tissue. Visceral adipose tissue has deleterious effects on health because it secretes large amounts of inflammatory cytokines. Nutritional calorie restriction associated with strength training may be useful in managing chronic systemic inflammation. This study aimed to evaluate the acute effect of a single strength-training session on plasma adipokine levels in sedentary, overweight, and obese young men. This study included twelve men (Age: [34.95 ​± ​9.77] years; Height: [174.16 ​± ​3.66] centimeter [cm]; Weight: [97.83 ​± ​12.87] kilogram (kg); body mass index [BMI]: [32.30 ​± ​4.51] kg/m2), who performed a single strength training session. The strength training protocol consisted of 4 sets of 12 repetitions in the following six exercises, 45° leg press, bench press, leg extension, machine row, leg curl, and shoulder press. Blood samples were collected before, immediately after, and 1-h subsequent after strength training. The plasma levels of resistin and leptin were measured. A significant decrease in resistin levels were found 1 ​h after the strength training session if compared to levels before the training session (pre-[before] [2 390 ​± ​1 199] picograms per milliliter [pg/mL] vs post-1 h [1-h subsequent] [1 523 ​± ​798],6 ​pg/mL, p ​= ​0.002 8). The plasma leptin levels did not differ at any time point. In conclusion, a very well controlled single session of strength training significantly decreased the plasma levels of resistin without altering the concentration of leptin in overweight and obese individuals. This effect, at least in part, supports the benefits of exercise by reducing the low grade inflammation and insulin resistance in obesity.

The development of hepatic metastases is the leading cause of mortality in gastrointestinal (GI) cancers and substantial research efforts have been focused on elucidating the intricate mechanisms by which tumor cells successfully migrate to, invade, and ultimately colonize the liver parenchyma. Recent evidence has shown that perturbations in myeloid biology occur early in cancer development, characterized by the initial expansion of specific innate immune populations that promote tumor growth and facilitate metastases. This review summarizes the pathophysiology underlying the proliferation of myeloid cells that occurs with incipient neoplasia and explores the role of innate immune-host interactions, specifically granulocytes and neutrophil extracellular traps, in promoting hepatic colonization by tumor cells through the formation of the “premetastatic niche”. We further summarize the role of additional myeloid subpopulations such as monocytes and macrophages, dendritic cells, platelets, and eosinophils on promoting disease metastases in GI cancers. Lastly, we describe burgeoning therapeutic approaches aimed at targeting specific myeloid populations to reduce liver metastases and highlight the inherent challenges that exist in studying the efficacy of these treatments in preclinical models. As the inception and outgrowth of liver metastases are primary drivers of prognosis in GI malignancies; further research into the complex mechanisms involved in this critical process is urgently needed.

Highlights The prevalence of vitamin D deficiency was higher in patients with diabetes mellitus; The FokI polymorphism was associated with DM and, in synergism with vitamin D deficiency, increased the likelihood of DM in adults. The FokI polymorphism was the most frequent in individuals with diabetes; Individuals with VDD were more predisposed to have DM regardless of phenotype, meaning that vitamin D deficiency is a relevant predictor for developing DM, regardless of whether or not there is an alteration in the VDR receptor.

RESUMO Trilhas ecológicas são propostas para auxiliar na Educação Ambiental, sobretudo em Unidades de Conservação, promovendo uma educação dinâmica e interação entre os visitantes e a natureza. A Floresta Nacional de Açu é uma Unidade de Conservação na Caatinga, localizada no município de Açu, Rio Grande do Norte. Aqui objetivamos desenvolver uma trilha de Educação Ambiental para visitantes, coletores de sementes, parataxonomistas e pesquisadores. Os indivíduos arbóreos foram marcados com placas de alumínio numeradas, identificadas e georreferenciadas. Foram identificadas 13 espécies de Leguminosae e marcados 34 indivíduos, além de 58 indivíduos pertencentes a 13 famílias distintas. Foram definidas três trilhas: (1) Trilha das Leguminosas; (2) Trilha da Catingueira-cinzenta e (3) trilha de imersão na Caatinga. Essas trilhas foram testadas pelos autores e visitantes nos dias 23-24 julho de 2022. Concluímos que as trilhas se tornam uma importante ferramenta para proporcionar a proteção destes ambientes e uma maior percepção das espécies locais.

Abstract Background We aimed to evaluate the association of sedentary behavior (SB) and moderate to vigorous leisure-time physical activity (MVPA) with sleep quality during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods Cross-sectional, population-based study in adults, conducted from October to December 2020 in the Iron Quadrangle region, Brazil. The outcome was sleep quality, evaluated with the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. SB was assessed by self-report of total sitting time, before and during the pandemic. Individuals with ≥ 9 h of total sitting time were classified as SB. In addition, the ratio of time spent in MVPA to time in SB was analyzed. A contrasted directed acyclic graph (DAG) model was constructed to adjust logistic regression models. Results A total of 1629 individuals were evaluated, the prevalence of SB before the pandemic was 11.3% (95%CI: 8.6–14.8), and during the pandemic 15.2% (95%CI: 12.1–18.9). In multivariate analysis, the chance of poor sleep quality was 77% higher in subjects with SB ≥ 9 h per day (OR: 1.77; 95% CI: 1.02–2.97). Furthermore, a one-hour increase in SB during the pandemic, increased the chance of poor sleep quality by 8% (OR: 1.08; 95%CI 1.01–1.15). In the analysis of the ratio of MVPA per SB in individuals with SB ≥ 9 h, practicing 1 min of MVPA per hour of SB reduces the chance of poor sleep quality by 19% (OR: 0.84; 95%CI: 0.73–0.98). Conclusion SB during the pandemic was a factor associated with poor sleep quality, and the practice of MVPA can reduce the effects of SB. Graphical Abstract

Introdução/Objetivo: O vírus linfotrópico de células T humanas do tipo 1 (HTLV-1) e o vírus da hepatite C (HCV) induzem a infecções crônicas persistentes e a coinfecção envolvendo estes vírus pode alterar o desenvolvimento da doença hepática. Porém, o mecanismo de interação entre esses vírus na coinfecção ainda é desconhecido. Assim, o objetivo do estudo foi investigar o impacto do HTLV-1 nos parâmetros laboratoriais, nas manifestações clínicas e na resposta imunológica periférica de indivíduos infectados pelo HCV atendidos em uma unidade de referência em Belém, Estado do Pará. Métodos: Participaram deste estudo 14 indivíduos coinfectados para HCV/HTLV-1, 30 monoinfectados pelo HCV e 34 monoinfectados pelo HTLV-1. Amostras foram coletadas e testadas para detecção e tipagem do material genético do HCV e do HTLV-1, quantificação da carga viral do HCV e dosagem de enzimas hepáticas. As citocinas séricas foram quantificadas utilizando o sistema Bio-Plex, com o kit Bio-Plex Pro™ Human Cytokine 17-plex Assay (Bio-Rad). O escore de fibrose hepática e os sinais e sintomas de hepatopatia foram obtidos por meio de consulta a prontuários. Resultados: O grupo HCV/HTLV-1 apresentou o genótipo 3 como o mais prevalente (8/14; 57,14%) e não houve diferença estatística da carga viral de HCV em relação com o grupo HCV (p = 0,7624). As enzimas hepáticas aspartato aminotransferase (AST) e fosfatase alcalina (FAL) mostraram-se mais elevadas no grupo HCV (AST = 74,13 U/L; FAL = 279,00 U/L) em relação ao grupo HCV/HTLV-1 (AST = 39,71 U/L; FAL = 139,57 U/L). O grupo HCV/HTLV-1 apresentou maior prevalência de fibrose hepática mínima F1 (8/14; 57,14%) e o grupo HCV grau de fibrose moderada F2 (12/30; 40,00%). Dentre as variáveis clínicas, apenas a artralgia apresentou diferença estatística entre os grupos HCV/HTLV-1 e HCV (p = 0,0252). O grupo HCV/HTLV-1 apresentou maiores dosagens das citocinas IL-1β (0,66 pg/mL), IL-2 (3,61 pg/mL), IFN-γ (16,32 pg/mL), IL-6 (2,10 pg/mL), IL-10 (5,78 pg/mL), IL-12 (2,98 pg/mL), IL-13 (1,42 pg/mL), IL-17 (3,58 pg/mL) e MCP-1 (66,29 pg/mL). A concentração sérica de IL-8 (17,42 pg/mL) foi significativamente superior no grupo HCV. O grupo HTLV-1 apresentou dosagens significativamente aumentadas de IL-4 (0,16 pg/mL), IL-5 (7,22 pg/mL), IL-7 (7,72 pg/mL) e TNF-α (24,30 pg/mL). Conclusão: Indivíduos coinfectados com HCV/HTLV-1 apresentaram menor gravidade da doença hepática, que pode estar relacionada ao estímulo da resposta imunológica Th1 pelo HTLV-1.

Introdução/Objetivo: O vírus linfotrópico de células T humanas do tipo 1 (HTLV-1) e o vírus da hepatite C (HCV) compartilham formas similares de transmissão, tornando a ocorrência dessa coinfecção esperada principalmente em regiões endêmicas, como a Amazônia brasileira. Contudo, há poucos relatos sobre a coinfecção HCV/HTLV-1 nessa região. Assim, este estudo tem como objetivo caracterizar o perfil epidemiológico e os fatores de risco associados a coinfecção HCV/HTLV-1 em pacientes atendidos em uma unidade de referência, na cidade de Belém, Estado do Pará. Métodos: Participaram do estudo pacientes que apresentavam diagnóstico de infecção por HCV (sorologia reagente para anti-HCV) atendidos durante o período de abril de 2020 a janeiro de 2022. Amostras de sangue foram coletadas e testadas por meio de ensaio imunoenzimático (kit HTLV I/II – Versão Ultra, DiaPro, Itália) quanto à presença de anticorpos do HTLV 1 e 2. A detecção do material genético do HCV foi feita por reação em cadeia da polimerase mediada por transcrição reversa (RT-PCR) e do HTLV-1 por Nested-PCR. A tipagem viral foi realizada pela técnica de polimorfismo do comprimento do fragmento de restrição (RFLP). Para obtenção dos dados epidemiológicos foi utilizado um formulário padronizado. Resultados: No total, 352 pacientes com sorologia reagente para anti-HCV participaram deste estudo, sendo detectado RNA-HCV em 201 (57,10%) amostras. Os genótipos 1 (n = 167; 83,09%), 2 (n = 3; 1,49%) e 3 (n = 31; 15,42%) foram observados. Anti-HTLV-1/2 foram detectados em 34 (16,91%) amostras e DNA-HTLV-1 em 14 (6,91%) amostras com RNA-HCV. Entre os pacientes coinfectados para HCV/HTLV-1, a maioria era do sexo feminino (n = 8; 57,14%), com as faixas etárias de 50 a 59 anos (n = 6; 42,86%) ou 60 anos ou mais (n = 6; 42,86%), idade média de 59,14 (±8,25) anos, cor branca (n = 7; 50,00%), solteira (n = 9; 64,29%), com ensino fundamental incompleto (n = 9; 64,29%), renda mensal de até 1 salário-mínimo (n = 6; 42,86%) e residentes na cidade de Belém (n = 10; 71,43%). Além disso, dois fatores foram associados à coinfecção HCV/HTLV-1: receptor de transfusão sanguínea (p = 0,0404) e presença de tatuagem e/ou piercing (p = 0,0074). Conclusão: Este estudo mostrou a ocorrência da coinfecção HCV/HTLV-1 na região amazônica. As informações indicam a necessidade da investigação do HTLV-1 entre indivíduos com HCV e contribuem para o delineamento e a revisão de ações de prevenção, diagnóstico e acompanhamento relacionados a esses dois vírus.

Cardiovascular diseases are considered the leading cause of mortality globally; even with low mortality in dogs, such diseases are described in the same way in companion animals and humans. This study aimed to devise an effective decellularization protocol for the canine myocardium through the association of physical, chemical, and enzymatic methods, assessing resultant alterations in the myocardial extracellular matrix to obtain a suitable scaffold. Two canine hearts were collected; the samples were sectioned into ±1 cm2 fragments, washed in distilled water and 1× PBS solution, and followed by treatment under four distinct decellularization protocols. Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS) 1% 7 days + Triton X-100 1% for 48 h (Protocol I); Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS) 1% 5 days + Triton X-100 1% for 48 h (Protocol II); Trypsin 0.05% for 1 h at 36 °C + freezing −80 °C overnight + Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS) 1% for 3 days, Triton-X-100 for 48 h hours (Protocol III); 0.05% trypsin for 1 h at 36 °C + freezing at −80 °C overnight + 1% Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS) for 2 days + 1% Triton-X-100 for 24 h (Protocol IV). After analysis, Protocols I and II showed the removal of cellular content and preservation of extracellular matrix (ECM) contents, unlike Protocols III and IV, which retracted the ECM and removed essential elements of the matrix. In theory, although Protocols I and II have similar results, Protocol II stands out for the preservation of the architecture and components of the extracellular matrix, along with reduced exposure time to reagents, making it the recommended protocol for the development of a canine myocardial scaffold.

Abstract Background The COVID-19 pandemic has brought drastic changes to the lives of the global population. The restrictions imposed by government agencies impacted the daily lives of citizens, influencing several health behaviors, such as physical activity (PA). Thus, the present study aimed to assess the prevalence of physical inactivity (PI) and its associated factors before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods A population-based household seroepidemiological survey was conducted in two Brazilian municipalities located in the state of Minas Gerais, in which 1750 volunteers were interviewed between October and December 2020. Face-to-face interviews were conducted using a structured questionnaire in an electronic format. The moments considered for the PI analysis were M0 (before the pandemic), M1 (from March to July 2020), and M2 (from October to December 2020). Descriptive statistics and univariate and multivariate logistic regression were used to examine the factors associated with PI before (M0) and during the pandemic (M1 and M2). Results The prevalence of PI was higher in the first months of the pandemic (M1) (67.3%; 95% confidence interval (CI): 62.4–71.9) than in the months from October to December 2020 (M2) (58.7%; 95% CI: 52.8–64.3); however, at both times (M1 and M2), PI was more prevalent than in the period before the pandemic started (M0) (39.7%; 95% CI: 35.6–43.8). Individuals who were overweight, obese, and had low educational levels were more likely to be physically inactive. At both M1 and M2, individuals who worked at a work from home were less likely to have PI. Conclusions The results suggest that the COVID-19 pandemic negatively influenced PA, substantially increasing the prevalence of PI. The determinants associated with PI were education, body mass index, and work from home.

Objective: To describe study protocol and initial results of research project COVID-Inconfidentes. Method: This paper described the methodological procedures adopted and the prevalence of the SARS-CoV-2 infection in the population. A household survey was conducted between October and December 2020, in two historic cities of Brazil's mining region. Anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody was detected using the Wondfo® rapid test. The face-to-face interview consisted of administration of a questionnaire containing registration data, sociodemographic and economic variables, living habits, general health condition, mental health, sleep habits, and eating and nutrition. Results: We evaluated 1,762 residents, of which 764 (43.4 %) were in Mariana and 998 (56.6 %) in Ouro Preto. For both cities, 51.9 % of the interviewees were female, with a predominance of the age range 35 to 59 years old (47.2 %). The prevalence of the SARS-CoV-2 infection was 5.5 % in both cities, 6.2 % in Ouro Preto, and 4.7 % in Mariana (p-value > 0.05). Conclusion: The study was effective to estimate the seroprevalence of infection by the virus and its findings will enable further analyses of the health conditions of the population related to social isolation and the risk of infection with SARS-CoV-2.

Background: In developing nations, rheumatic diseases bear significant health issues, affecting millions of people and placing a substantial burden on healthcare systems. Education of the patient is crucial for the management and prevention of rheumatic diseases. Objectives: To determine the level of patient knowledge regarding rheumatology and rheumatic diseases in a developing nation. Methods: Patients attending rheumatology clinics of Mayo Hospital, Lahore, in 2021-23, participated in this cross-sectional study. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data on demographic characteristics and rheumatology and rheumatic disease knowledge of patients. Questions pertaining to the definition, symptoms, causes, and treatment of rheumatic diseases were included in the questionnaire. Results: The study enrolled a total of 1306 patients. Demographic characteristics of rheumatic disease patients comprised 377 males (28.9%) and 929 females (71.1%), whereby the proportion of female patients was significantly high (p[Formula: see text]0.05). The mean age of the participants was 43.22+10.98 years. Patients’ locations were categorized as either rural or urban with statistically significant number (p[Formula: see text]0.05) of 757 (57.96%) and 549 (42.03%), respectively. Majority of patients were educated (p[Formula: see text]0.05), with 706 females (74.5%) and 248 males (65.7%). Patients’ overall knowledge of rheumatology and rheumatic diseases was inadequate, with majority of the patients (56.4%) had scores between 0 and 2, indicating a lack of understanding of these conditions. Rheumatic disease causes, symptoms, and treatment options were poorly understood by patients. Conclusion: In developing nations, patient education regarding rheumatology and rheumatic diseases appears to be deficient. Providers of healthcare should address this deficiency by providing patients with adequate education and resources. Improved patient knowledge will ultimately improve patient outcomes and lessen the burden of rheumatic diseases on the healthcare systems of developing nations.

Coinfection of HPgV-1 with hepatitis C virus (HCV) is common due to shared modes of transmission, with a prevalence of HPgV-1 viremia of approximately 20% among individuals with chronic HCV infection. The aim of the present study was to estimate the prevalence of HPgV-1 RNA and circulating genotypes in patients with hepatitis C from a health service located in the city of Belém, in the state of Pará, Northern Brazil. A total of 147 samples were included in the study from February to December 2019. Among the participants, 72.1% (106/147) were monoinfected with HCV, with detectable HCV viral RNA, and 27.9% (41/147) were coinfected with HCV/HPgV-1. The most frequently found genotypes were HPgV-1 genotypes 1 and 2 (36.6% and 63.4%), respectively. While for HCV there was a predominance of genotypes 1 and 3 (58.5% and 41.5%). No significant differences were found when comparing any risk, sociodemographic, or clinical factors between groups. Also, there was no statistically significant difference when relating the viral genotypes of both agents. This study indicated that the prevalence of infection by HPgV-1 is high in HCV carriers in Belém, Pará, and probably does not change the clinical course of HCV infection, however, further studies are still needed.

Abstract Global climate change represents a critical threat to the environment since it influences organismic interactions, such as the host-parasite systems, mainly in ectotherms including fishes. Rising temperature and CO2 are predicted to affect this interaction other and critical physiological processes in fish. Herein, we investigated the effects of different periods of exposure to climate change scenarios and to two degrees of parasitism by monogeneans in the host-parasite interaction, as well as the antioxidant and ionoregulatory responses of tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum), an important species in South American fishing and aquaculture. We hypothesized that temperature and CO2 changes in combination with parasite infection would interfere with the host’s physiological processes that are related to oxidative stress and ionoregulation. We experimentally exposed C. macropomum to low and high levels of parasitism in the current and extreme climate scenarios (4.5 °C and 900 ppm CO2 above current levels) for periods of seven and thirty days and we use as analyzed factors; the exposure time, the climate scenario and parasitism level in a 2 × 2 × 2 factorial through a three-way ANOVA as being fish the experimental unit (n = 8). An analysis of gill enzymatic and gene expression profile was performed to assess physiological (SOD, GPx and Na+/K+-ATPase enzymes) and molecular (Nrf2, SOD1, HIF-1α and NKA α1a genes) responses. A clear difference in the parasitism levels of individuals exposed to the extreme climate scenario was observed with a rapid and aggressive increase that was higher after 7 days of exposure though showed a decrease after 30 days. The combination of exposure to the extreme climate change scenario and parasitism caused oxidative stress and osmoregulatory disturbance, which was observed through the analysis of gene expression (Nrf2, SOD1, HIF-1α and NKA α1a) and antioxidant and ionoregulatory enzymes (SOD, GPx and Na+/K+-ATPase) on the host, possibly linked to inflammatory processes caused by the high degree of parasitism. In the coming years, these conditions may result in losses of performance for this species, and as such will represent ecological damage and economical losses, and result in a possible vulnerability in relation to food security.

Ovarian tissue transplantation methods using cooled and cryopreserved samples have been attractive options for fertility preservation in animal models and humans. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of previous exposure to cooling, cryopreservation, and VEGF on the overall efficiency of equine ovarian tissue after heterotopic xenotransplantation in mice. The endpoints evaluated were follicular morphology and development, follicular and stromal cell densities, angiogenesis (i.e. the density of new and mature blood vessels), collagen types I and III fiber densities, and total fibrosis. Ovaries of adult mares were harvested after ovariectomy, and ovarian fragments were xenografted in the i.p. wall of BALB nude mice. Ten types of treatments involving different combinations of cooling, cryopreservation, xenografting procedures, and VEGF exposure were compared. The novel aspect of this study was the use of equine ovarian tissue xenotransplantation in mice, challenging the fragments with different combinations of treatments. The main findings were (i) cooling but not cryopreservation was effective in preserving the follicular morphology, (ii) a greater percentage of developing follicles but lower follicular and stromal cell densities were observed after ovarian tissue engraftment, (iii) exposure to VEGF increased new and mature vessels in cryopreserved-transplanted tissue, and (iv) an appropriate balance in the collagen types I and III fiber ratio in cooling-transplanted tissue was observed after exposure to VEGF. This study contributes to advancing knowledge in the preservation of ovarian tissue after cooling-cryopreservation and transplantation aiming to be applied to genetically superior/valuable horses, livestock, endangered animals, and, possibly, humans.

Abstract Background The ECA2/Ang-(1–7)/Mas axis is shown to be involved in effects mediated by physical exercise, as it can induce the release of nitric oxide (ON) and bradykinin (BK), which are potent vasodilators. The vasodilating action the NO/BK can contribute to increased metabolic efficiency in muscle tissue and central nervous system. The formulation HPβ-CD-Ang-(1–7) through its mechanisms of action can be a promising supplement to aid in the maintenance and improvement of performance and may also favor recovery during competitions. The premise of this study was to investigate the effects of acute oral supplementation HPβ-CD-Ang-(1–7) on the performance of mountain bike (MTB) practitioners. Methods Fourteen recreational athletes, involved in training programs for at least one year, participated in this crossover design study. Subjects underwent two days of testing with a seven-day interval. HPβ-CD-Ang-(1–7) (1.75 mg) and HPβCD-Placebo were provided in capsules three hours prior to tests. To determine the safety of the HPβ-CD-Ang-(1–7) formulation associated with physical effort, cardiovascular parameters heart rate (HR) and blood pressure (BP) were analyzed. Physical performance was measured using maximal oxygen uptake (VO2), total exercise time (TET), mechanical work (MW), mechanical efficiency (ME), and rating of perceived exertion (RPE). Respiratory exchange coefficient (REC), lactate and non-esterified fatty acids (NEFAs) were measured. Maximal incremental tests were performed on a progressively loaded leg cycle ergometer. Results There were no significant differences in terms of HR or BP at rest and maximum effort between the HPβ-CD-Ang-(1–7) and placebo groups. The VO2max showed significant differences (p = 0.04). It was higher in the Ang-(1–7)condition (66.15 mlO2.kg− 1.min− 1) compared to the placebo (60.72 mlO2.kg− 1.min− 1). This was also observed for TET (Ang-(1–7) 39.10 min vs. placebo 38.14 min; p = 0.04), MW (Ang-(1–7) 156.7 vs. placebo 148.2; p = 0.04), and at the lowest RPE (Ang-(1–7) vs. placebo; p = 0.009). No significant differences were observed for REC, NEFAs, or Lactate. Conclusions These results suggest that HPβ-CD-Ang-(1–7) improves the physical performance of MTB recreational athletes and could be a promising supplement. Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is an aggressive solid malignancy with a high rate of metastasis and therapeutic resistance as its major hallmarks. Although a defining mutational event in pancreatic cancer initiation is the presence of oncogenic KRAS, more advanced PDAC lesions accumulate additional genomic alterations, including loss of tumor suppressor gene TP53. Co-occurrence of mutant KRAS and TP53 in PDAC promotes hyperactivation of cancer cell signaling pathways driving epithelial to mesenchymal plasticity (EMP). The cellular process of EMP influences the biological behavior of cancer cells by increasing their migratory and invasive properties, thus promoting metastasis. Our previous work has demonstrated that oncogenic KRAS-mediated activation of cyclic AMP response element-binding protein 1 (CREB) is one of the critical drivers of PDAC aggressiveness. The therapeutic approach of targeting this key transcription factor attenuates tumor burden in genetically engineered mouse models (GEMMs) of this disease. Herein, we discuss the significant role of CREB in perpetuating disease aggressiveness and therapeutic resistance through the EMP process. Furthermore, this review updates the therapeutic implications of targeting CREB, highlighting the challenges and emerging approaches in PDAC.

Background: Physical training (ET) is important to restore the reflex sensitivity involved in controlling blood pressure in various diseases. Recent investigations have demonstrated an interaction between cardiopulmonary baroreceptors and arterial baroreflex during dynamic exercise.Objective: Considering that acute and chronic hemodynamic responses to swimming (SW) are different from the race (RUN), the objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of SW and RUN on baroreflex response before and after acute volume expansion in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR).Methods: SHR were divided into three groups: RUN, SW and sedentary (SED) groups. After training, the mean arterial pressure (MAP) and heart rate (HR) were recorded. Baroreflex response was assessed before and after acute volume expansion.Results: Both ET conditions reduced basal levels of HR and MAP. The first volume of injected isotonic saline solution (1.25% of body weight) produced a greater decrease in HR for the SW group (−105.8 ± 8.7 bpm) compared to RUN groups (−68 ± 5.2 bpm) and SED (−49.8 ± 7.2 bpm). Both training modalities increase the baroreflex response in relation to the SED group, but after the total volume expansion, the SW group presented attenuated response (0.7 ± 0.1 μPIms/mmHg) compared to RUN (1.5 ± 0.17 PIms/mmHg) and was not different from SED group (0.8 ± 0.2 mPIms/mmHg).Conclusion: The results show that the swim-trained group has a different baroreflex response to that observed by the run-trained group after the activation of the load receptors by saline expansion.

Introdução: A prática regular de exercícios físicos contribui com o tratamento não farmacológico da hipertensão arterial (HA), e oferece condições favoráveis para função renal. Objetivo: Avaliar o efeito do tempo de treinamento sobre as respostas cardiovasculares e função renal de idosos hipertensos. Métodos: 19 voluntários com idade 62±1,6 anos hipertensos, foram submetidos a um programa de treinamento físico (TF) com duração de 3 meses. Ao final de cada mês de TF foram avaliados frequência cardíaca (FC) e pressão arterial (PA) em repouso, durante e na recuperação da sessão de exercício. Realizou-se também coleta urinária e sanguínea ao final de cada mês de TF para avaliar a função renal. This study aims to present that reverberations were identified by Psychology professionals who worked in the services of the Unified Social Assistance System between 2013 to 2017, in a city in the interior of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. For this, 12 professionals participated in the research, being the data obtained from interviews and analyzed based on Content Analysis. The results indicated an accumulation and diversion of duties, the execution of other activities besides those that appeared in their contracts, income supplementation with a second job, and mainly the weakening of both the safety and the health of the worker in the service, generating illness in the professionals.

Abstract Nanocellulose (BNC) is a natural polymer produced by bacteria. Its structure has only glucose monomer, it has various properties such as high water holding capacity, unique nanostructure, high crystallinity and high mechanical strength. Pure BNC or in combination with different components can be used for a wide range of applications. Aloe vera is a medicinal plant with polysaccharides in its composition that has a potential for tissue regeneration and repair. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of incorporating Aloe vera (A. vera) into BNC membranes produced with three fractions of A. vera extract (BNC-Aloe) on the behavior of epithelial cells. Human fibroblasts and keratinocytes were shown to have increased metabolic activity and proliferation when cultured on BNC-Aloe membranes compared to control. Quantification of collagen biosynthesis was significantly higher in BNC-Aloe membranes. In conclusion, BNC-Aloe membranes are suggested as a material for the purpose of skin tissue repair.

O presente artigo apresenta um panorama histórico do violento processo que os povos originários do Brasil e os povos africanos sofreram no Brasil na época da colonização. Portanto, o artigo faz um passeio pela história do Brasil, a partir dos anos de 1500, passando pela escravização dos povos indígenas e transitando pela escravização dos povos africanos submetidos à escravidão pelas elites coloniais da época. Para a realização deste trabalho escolhemos como recurso metodológico a revisão de literatura. Diante do que foi apresentado no decorrer deste trabalho podemos considerar que desde os primórdios da colonização do Brasil as populações minoritárias como os indígenas e os africanos escravizados foram submetidos a diferentes tipos de violência, as quais repercutem até os dias atuais.

Electrochemical biosensing devices are known for their simple operational procedures, low fabrication cost, and suitable real-time detection. Despite these advantages, they have shown some limitations in the immobilization of biochemicals. The development of alternative materials to overcome these drawbacks has attracted significant attention. Nanocellulose-based materials have revealed valuable features due to their capacity for the immobilization of biomolecules, structural flexibility, and biocompatibility. Bacterial nanocellulose (BNC) has gained a promising role as an alternative to antifouling surfaces. To widen its applicability as a biosensing device, BNC may form part of the supports for the immobilization of specific materials. The possibilities of modification methods and in situ and ex situ functionalization enable new BNC properties. With the new insights into nanoscale studies, we expect that many biosensors currently based on plastic, glass, or paper platforms will rely on renewable platforms, especially BNC ones. Moreover, substrates based on BNC seem to have paved the way for the development of sensing platforms with minimally invasive approaches, such as wearable devices, due to their mechanical flexibility and biocompatibility.

Resumo Este artigo buscou identificar as condições de trabalho de psicólogas(os) decorrentes da terceirização do trabalho na Política de Assistência Social. Participaram da pesquisa 12 profissionais que atuaram nos serviços socioassistenciais entre os anos de 2013 a 2017, em um município do interior do Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. Os dados foram obtidos por meio de entrevistas e analisados a partir da Análise de Conteúdo. Entre os resultados identificou-se que a precarização do trabalho no Sistema Único da Assistência Social (SUAS) perpassa o processo de seleção, as formas diversas de contratos, seus decorrentes itens (carga horária, função, remuneração, Educação Permanente e encerramento) e o estabelecimento de relações baseadas no medo e intimidação. Tais informações refletem um processo de despotenciliazação das trabalhadoras, uma vez que elas são as principais ferramentas de trabalho desta política.

Abstract The Mata da Pimenteira State Park (MPSP) is an important remnant of caatinga vegetation in the semiarid region of Pernambuco state, Brazil. The park holds great biodiversity, but relatively few taxonomic studies have been undertaken in the area. We present a taxonomic study of Ipomoea in the MPSP based on field observations and collections deposited in the Herbarium of the Semiarid of Brazil - UAST / UFRPE (HESBRA). The species were identified based on the specialized literature, comparisons with type images available online, and protologues. Fourteen species of Ipomoea were identified - more than three times the previously known number. Two Ipomoea species recorded in the MPSP are endemic to Brazil (I. bahiensis and I. brasiliana), three others are exclusive to the Caatinga domain (I. marcellia, I. rosea, and I. tenera), and the remaining are widely distributed in South America. The habit, type and shape of leaf blade and sepals, corolla size and shapes, and presence or absence of subapical rostrum on the external sepals were the most relevant distinctive characteristics. An identification key, descriptions, comments on distribution and diagnostic characteristics, and phenological data of the species are presented.

O estudo tem como objetivo investigar como a medida socioeducativa - MSE, na concepção dos profissionais participantes, vem influenciando na proteção e promoção dos direitos dos adolescentes em cumprimento de medida socioeducativa. Foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas com seis psicólogos que trabalham com MSE. As entrevistas foram transcritas e analisadas qualitativamente. As respostas revelam o aspecto negativo das concepções socioculturais e das informações midiáticas sobre o adolescente em MSE, configurando inclusive em um desserviço ao desenvolvimento das Medidas de forma que impactam em desarticulações na rede de atendimento e inflam os preconceitos sociais. Quanto às garantias de direitos analisou-se pontos como: estrutura física, acesso à educação, respeito às individualidades dos adolescentes e acesso aos serviços básicos de saúde e assistência. Destaca-se a relevância de investir em capacitações para os profissionais não somente do sistema socioeducativo, mas de todas as políticas que devem assistir os adolescentes em cumprimento de MSE.

O artigo discute a importância da extensão na formação universitária através da apresentação breve de ações em psicologia escolar desenvolvidas por um grupo de extensão de um curso de Psicologia de uma Universidade pública. O texto traz a importância destas práticas na formação universitária a partir de Leis, Decretos e Resoluções nacionais, apresenta o contexto no qual elas foram desenvolvidas e então discute a importância da extensão na formação do psicólogo. A extensão como espaço para formação profissional, o papel da Universidade na construção de intervenções na realidade de forma crítica e dialógica e o lugar das supervisões como espaços criativos e férteis caracterizam as discussões.

Background: Ankylosing spondylitis, a chronic disease, in which spinal inflammation develops which continuously causes backache and inadequacy in the functions of spine. Anti-inflammatory medications are available but along with that, assessment of inflammatory markers is obligatory to assess disease activity. Objective: To determine association between neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio and activity of disease in patients of ankylosing spondylitis on etanercept therapy Study type settings & duration: This quasi experimental trial was conducted at Department of Rheumatology, Mayo Hospital, Lahore from September 2019 to March 2020. Methodology: Patients of aged 41-49 years of both genders diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis and were taking etanercept as medication for 6 months were enrolled. Blood samples were taken at baseline and after 6 months of therapy and analyzed for assessment of neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and ASDAS score. Data was entered, decoded and analyzed using SPSS version 22. Results: The mean age of the participants was 45.03 (±2.44) years and majority of them 24 (80%) were males. Fêmeas ovadas foram expostas a quatro diferentes concentrações de cromo durante 96 horas. Posteriormente, as fêmeas foram transferidas para água de cultivo (descontaminação) durante oito dias. Na exposição foram observados parâmetros reprodutivos e mortalidade. Na descontaminação foi avaliado o sucesso reprodutivo das fêmeas (tempo para produção de saco de ovos e número de náuplios), desenvolvimento da prole e parâmetros populacionais. Durante a exposição não foram observadas mudanças significativas nos parâmetros avaliados. No bioensaio de descontaminação, as fêmeas do grupo controle demonstraram normalidade no comportamento reprodutivo, enquanto que as fêmeas expostas ficaram desovadas por mais tempo reduzindo a produção de náuplios. Com relação ao desenvolvimento, observou-se um retardo nas transições dos estágios larvais, sobretudo de copepodito para adulto, demonstrando uma menor densidade populacional. Portanto, concentrações subletais de cromo podem prejudicar a fisiologia reprodutiva, retardar o desenvolvimento e diminuir a densidade populacional de Tisbe biminiens.

Praças e parques são espaços livres essenciais para a estruturação e funcionalidade da vida urbana, que buscam promover a sociabilidade, construir uma identidade local, qualidade ambiental e de vida para a população. Deste modo, este trabalho teve como objetivo analisar os espaços livres de lazer e recreação de Panambi/RS, ou seja, as praças/parque, além de avaliá-los por meio da preferência da paisagem, com aplicação de questionários através da percepção e opinião da população, e por fim, contribuir com recomendações que subsidiem a gestão e planejamento territorial de futuras intervenções e manutenção. Considera-se então que a Preferência da Paisagem facilitou o cumprimento dos objetivos estabelecidos e se espera que as recomendações e sugestões ponderadas nas áreas de recreação e lazer do bairro Centro de Panambi sejam considerados pela gestão pública, para que cumpram a sua função na cidade e mantenham equilíbrio no meio urbano, com conforto e qualidade para os cidadãos.

Background: to evaluate the effects of one week of supplementation with curcumin combined with piperine on physical performance, immune system cell counts, muscle damage, and plasma levels of inflammatory markers after a treadmill running training session. Methods: This study is a double-blind, crossover-balanced clinical trial with a three-week intervention. Sixteen male runners with a mean age of 36 ± 9 years and VO2 max of 60.6 ± 9.03 mL.kg −1 min −1 were recruited and randomly divided into 2 groups: the first group (CPG) was supplemented daily for 7 days with 500 mg of curcumin + 20 mg piperine, and the second group (PG) was supplemented with 540 mg of cellulose. After the 7th day of supplementation, the volunteers participated in the experimental running protocol, where blood samples were collected before, after, and one hour after exercise for analysis of the number of leukocytes, creatine kinase, and cytokine concentration (IL-2, TNF-α, IFN, IL-6, and IL-10) using flow cytometry. This process was repeated, reversing the supplementation offered to the groups. Results: curcumin and piperine supplementation could not change the physical performance, immune cell counts, and muscle damage; however, the aerobic fatiguing exercise protocol inhibited the elevation of the plasmatic levels of some cytokines. The running exercise protocol could elevate the circulating levels of IL-2 (from 49.7 to 59.3 pg/mL), TNF-α (from 48.5 to 51.5 pg/mL), INF (from 128.8 to 165.0 pg/mL), IL-6 (from 63.1 to 77.3 pg/mL), and IL-10 (from 48.9 to 59.6 pg/mL) 1 h after the end of the running protocol. However, the curcumin and piperine supplementation could inhibit this elevation. Conclusions: curcumin and piperine supplementation had no effect on physical performance, immune cell counts, or muscle damage; however, the supplementation could modulate the kinetics of IL-2, TNF-α, INF, IL-6, and IL-10 1 h after the end of exercise.

O objetivo deste artigo é reunir informações a partir da literatura PSI, a fim de aprofundar o conhecimento sobre os adolescentes em conflito com a lei, tomando como parâmetro o modelo teórico proposto por Shoemaker. O artigo foi dividido em seções de acordo com os três níveis de conceitualização de Shoemaker: nível estrutural, nível individual e nível sociopsicológico. Destacou-se que, para uma melhor compreensão do comportamento infrator, faz-se necessário uma articulação e interação com todos os níveis de compreensão propostos pelo modelo de Shoemaker. Enfatizou-se a importância de pesquisas com dados mais específicos da realidade brasileira.

Esse trabalho tem como objetivo compreender o significado do graffiti e da pichação para os jovens transgressores, assim como as motivações, sentimentos e relações sociais implícitas nessas práticas. Fizeram parte deste estudo seis jovens em conflito com a lei, que possuíam envolvimento com pichação numa cidade no interior do estado do Rio Grande do Sul. Os critérios de seleção para a participação neste estudo foram: possuir envolvimento com pichação ou graffiti, ter idade entre 15 a 29 anos. Como instrumento para a coleta de dados, foi utilizada uma entrevista com roteiro semiestruturado, que abordou os seguintes tópicos: dados sociodemográficos, informações sobre as vivências relacionadas ao envolvimento com graffiti e pichação, e os significados atribuídos a essa infração. Os dados obtidos com as entrevistas foram analisados qualitativamente. As informações foram organizadas em duas categorias temáticas: “Adrenalina e Visibilidade” e “Expressão e Subjetividade”. Os resultados evidenciaram questões relacionadas à necessidade dos jovens de se expressar e se comunicar, enquanto sujeitos, ressaltando a importância de compreender por quais espaços circulam, que lugar ocupam no contemporâneo e o que querem por meio dessas intervenções. Por fim, destaca-se a forma com que a juventude tem se relacionado com o risco e como tem sido tratada no contemporâneo, em meio a espaços restritos e limitados, em que a marginalização e a criminalização dessas manifestações sociais se fazem presentes. Desse modo, ressaltam-se as potencialidades do graffiti e da pichação enquanto poder criativo, transformador e subjetivador para além da transgressão.

Resumo Este trabalho apresenta um estudo taxonômico das subfamílias Caesalpinioideae (exceto clado Mimosoide) e Cercidoideae, realizado no Parque Estadual Mata da Pimenteira, localizado no município de Serra Talhada, em Pernambuco. Foram analisados espécimes coletados mensalmente, no período compreendido entre março de 2015 a agosto de 2016. Foram catalogadas 16 espécies distribuídas em um gênero de Cercidoideae, com uma espécie: Bauhinia cheilantha, e seis gêneros de Caesalpinioideae, com 15 espécies: Cenostigma pyramidale, Chamaecrista absus, C. duckeana, C. pilosa var. luxurians, C. rotundifolia, C. supplex, Libidibia ferrea, Parkinsonia aculeata, Pterogyne nitens, Senna macranthera, S. obtusifolia, S. occidentalis, S. spectabilis, S. splendida e S. uniflora. São apresentadas chaves de identificação, descrições, ilustrações, comentários sobre a morfologia e distribuição geográfica de todas espécies.

Resumo Este trabalho consiste em um estudo florístico-taxonômico do clado Mimosoide (Leguminosae - Caesalpinioideae) realizado no Parque Estadual Mata da Pimenteira, primeira Unidade de Conservação em caatinga do estado de Pernambuco, localizado no município de Serra Talhada. As coletas mensais foram realizadas no período compreendido entre março de 2015 e março de 2016. Foram identificadas 14 espécies (nove gêneros): Anadenanthera colubrina, Chloroleucon dumosum, Desmanthus pernambucanus, Enterolobium timbouva, Mimosa arenosa var. arenosa, M. candollei, M. ophthalmocentra, M. modesta var. ursinoides, M. pigra var. pigra, M. tenuiflora, Neptunia plena, Parapiptadenia zehntneri, Piptadenia stipulacea e Senegalia tenuifolia. Características como número de folíolos, forma e localização de nectários, tipo de inflorescência, morfologia dos frutos e sementes foram essenciais para identificação dos táxons. São apresentados chave de identificação, descrições, comentários de distribuição geográfica e de afinidades taxonômicas das espécies.

Este trabalho teve como objetivo investigar variáveis, as quais poderão constituir-se como fator de risco para adolescentes que cumprem medida tutelar educativa. Para a coleta de dados foi utilizado o Questionário da Juventude Brasileira (Versão Fase II), o qual foi aplicado em 33 adolescentes que cumpriam medida tutelar educativa nos regimes aberto, semiaberto e fechado, em um centro educativo português. A partir de estatísticas descritivas, foi possível identificar as interações dos fatores individuais e contextuais que se constituem como risco para a prática infracional. Destacam-se como risco as práticas parentais ineficazes, o consumo de substâncias lícitas e ilícitas, bem como as fragilidades no contexto escolar. Nesse sentido, aponta-se para a importância de estratégias e de intervenções que potencializem os fatores de proteção e o desenvolvimento saudável dos adolescentes.

To assurance the drinking water quality, the disinfecting has to be guaranteed. In this sense, chlorination is the most widely used method, which promotes the inactivation and/or destruction of pathogenic microorganisms. The analytic methods more common for free available chlorine in drinking water are based on the DPD colorimetric method. In this way, the main core of this research is to compare the results obtained between two devices that can use two types reagents: visual and digital equipments; and powder and tablet reagents. Moreover, was analyzed whatever correlation between the others measured parameters: pH, turbidity, electric conductivity, fluoride, total coliforms and Escherichia coli. Were collected 40 samples in particular homes, which were distributed in six districts of three different areas of the city of Goiânia (Goiás, Brazil). The results were that the powder reagent had higher values than tablet ones, and that the measures of the digital equipment were lower than the visual disk. By other hand, was found one linear correlation between turbidity and the free available chlorine, and one soft inverse relationship between the fluorine and the electric conductivity.

O presente artigo busca analisar um dos principais espaços livres dedicados ao lazer e recreação da população de Panambi/RS: o Parque Municipal Rudolfo Arno Goldhardt. Procura-se avaliá-lo por meio da preferência da paisagem – que pode ser replicado em outros espaços livres –, através de fotografias e questionários de abordagem quali-quantitativa que exploram a percepção e opinião da população. Ao final, procura-se contribuir com recomendações que subsidiem na sua gestão e planejamento territorial, com o objetivo de valorizar as potencialidades locais, investir nas fragilidades, possibilitar melhor apropriação e identidade e promover a conservação ambiental.

RESUMO Objetivo Conhecer as estratégias utilizadas por enfermeiros de Unidades de Estratégias de Saúde da Família para identificação e enfrentamento de situação de violência por parceiro íntimo em mulheres gestantes. Método Estudo descritivo com abordagem qualitativa, com entrevista semiestruturada direcionada a 23 enfermeiros da atenção básica, no período de setembro de 2015 a abril de 2016. Utilizou-se a análise de conteúdo do tipo temática. Resultados Emergiu a categoria: “É bem complexo” - ações de identificação e enfrentamento da violência por parceiro íntimo em mulheres gestantes. As lesões físicas foram o principal indicativo de violência identificada na consulta pré-natal. As estratégias de enfrentamento foram os encaminhamentos a serviços especializados e discussão conjunta com a equipe de saúde. Conclusão Aponta-se a necessidade de organização de um protocolo de enfermagem que auxilie na identificação e classificação de risco à exposição à violência, educação permanente destes profissionais e fortalecimento das ações intersetoriais.

A aplicação de soluções arquitetônicas e urbanísticas fundamentadas nos conceitos de preservação do meio ambiente começa a tornar-se perceptível na rotina de profissionais arquitetos e urbanistas e demais profissionais da construção civil, devido à adoção de uma postura de planejamento sustentável para beneficiar os futuros usuários. Neste contexto, as habitações de interesse social, voltadas à população de baixa renda, também possuem possibilidades de oportunizar edificações e espaços bem elaborados com ênfase no desenvolvimento sustentável, oferecendo também a qualidade de vida para as cidades brasileiras. Portanto, através de pesquisa e revisão bibliográfica, o presente artigo pretende enfatizar a necessidade da implantação de habitações de interesse social voltados para a construção sustentável.

RESUMO O desenvolvimento da criança é um processo contínuo, dinâmico e não linear, no qual o movimento configura uma das necessidades vitais do ser humano. Este estudo quase-experimental teve por objetivo analisar a magnitude da mudança no nível coordenativo de 43 escolares com idade entre 6 e 7 anos, de ambos os sexos, submetidos a dois distintos programas de intervenção de atividades físicas, separados em grupo experimental (GE) e grupo controle (GC). Para avaliar a coordenação motora utilizou-se o Körperkoordinationstest Test Für Kinder (KTK). Os dados foram submetidos à análise estatística aplicando-se os testes de normalidade e t - student (para amostras independentes e para amostras pareadas). Os resultados indicaram que, no geral, os meninos obtiveram escores médios superiores aos das meninas, e, houve um decréscimo nos níveis de coordenação em escolares com idade mais avançada. Além disso, constatou-se que o GE obteve índices mais elevados que o GC.

Existem diversos fatores que influenciam para se obter um espaço urbano de qualidade, entre eles os sistemas de infraestrutura, mobiliário e mobilidade urbana. Dessa forma, o presente artigo visa analisar as condições existentes desses sistemas, identificar os problemas de um quarteirão de uso misto (residencial e comercial) do bairro Centro da cidade de Panambi, tendo como objetivo propor possíveis soluções para os problemas existentes. Esta quadra contempla parte do ponto central da evolução da cidade: a Praça Eng. Walter Faulhaber; e as ruas: Andrade Neves, General Osório e Miguel Baumgarten.

Fumonisins (FBs) are mycotoxins produced by Fusarium molds. Several works have shown contamination of maize by this toxin. Fumonisin B1 (FB-1) is found in greatest proportion (about 70%), resistant to several industrialization processes. In that context, the objective of this work was to analyze the effect of administering a diet contaminated with FB-1 on the morphophysiology of the kidneys of 21-day old male Wistar rats. The animals were divided into 2 groups: G0 (with animals receiving feed free of FBs) and G6 (6mg of FB1 kg-1 of feed). The diet was administered during 42 days. After that period, the animals were placed in metabolic cages for urine collection, blood was collected for analysis of plasma creatinine, and the kidneys were fixed and stained with Masson's trichrome. We observed that FB1 administration did not affect feed intake, body weight gain and animal growth. The normal levels of plasma creatinine suggest that the toxin did not lead to glomerular lesion. There was also no change in water intake, osmolarity and excretion of sodium in urine. However, there was a significant increase in urine volume and potassium excretion in urine, with mild tubulointerstitial changes in the outer cortex for the group receiving the mycotoxin.

A entrega de crianças para adoção precisa ser estudada em seus aspectos legais, socioculturais e psicológicos, pois está permeada por julgamento preconceituoso e estigmatizante. Este estudo tem como objetivo conhecer características biossociodemográficas das mulheres que entregaram seus filhos. Foram analisados qualitativamente seis processos judiciais do Juizado Regional da Infância e da Juventude de uma cidade do RS referentes ao período de 2010 a 2013. Os processos foram lidos na íntegra para que os conteúdos pudessem ser destacados. Após este momento, ocorreu a reunião e a síntese dos conteúdos e transformação destes em categorias de análise, tendo sido construídas a posteriori. Entre os resultados, constatou-se que as mulheres que entregaram seus filhos pertenciam às camadas socialmente desfavorecidas, eram solteiras e jovens. Os dados sobre o pai não constavam nos processos, não tendo sido chamado a participar dessa decisão. A maioria dos processos demonstrou ausência de apoio familiar e do pai. Sobre o motivo para a entrega, encontrou-se como motivo tanto ausência de condições socioeconômicas da mulher quanto a impossibilidade de criar um filho fruto de uma violência sexual ou relação eventual da mulher. As mulheres retratadas nos processos analisados não receberam atenção psicológica e psicossocial, como preconiza a legislação, contudo, a maioria foi acompanhada por um profissional do Conselho Tutelar. Observou-se também ausência de informações nos processos ou informações incompletas, demonstrando falha no próprio registro feito pelo juizado. Assim, torna-se necessário construir dispositivos que implementem a lei existente, garantindo os direitos de tais mulheres e de seus filhos, como também chamar a atenção para o completo registro das informações no juizado.

Objetivo: Apresentar as estratégias de ensino-aprendizagem do processo de enfermagem utilizadas nos cursos de graduação e pós-graduação. Métodos: Revisão integrativa da literatura, utilizando as bases de dados CINAHL, LILACS e MEDLINE. A busca dos artigos foi realizada através dos descritores controlados Nursing Process; Education, Nursing; Teaching; Education, Nursing, Diploma Programs; Education, Graduate; utilizando o operador boleano AND. A amostra constitui-se de 8 artigos. Resultados: Várias estratégias de ensino-aprendizagem do processo de enfermagem são apontadas, a saber: ferramentas eletrônicas, estudos de caso escritos, aula expositiva e aulas teórico-prática para o ensino de graduação. Entretanto, destaca-se a ausência de estudos referentes ao ensino do processo de enfermagem em nível de pós-graduação. Conclusão: A utilização de metodologias inovadoras e ativas facilitam o processo de aprendizagem, enquanto a abordagem restrita a teoria é fator dificultador.

The study of environmental conditions favorable to the early development of plants is the key point for obtaining high yields and satisfactory vegetable development. In view of this statement the present study aimed to evaluate the initial development of Arugula (Eruca sativa CV. Cultivated) subjected to different conditions of saline stress. Germitest sheets of paper were emerged in solutions of distilled water and sodium chloride with the following water conditions: 0; -0.2; -0.4; -0.6; -0.8; -1.0 MPa. The experiment was conducted in the laboratory of Plant Pathology of the Federal University Acre (FUA), Campus Forest. Arugula seeds were held for eight days in germitest paper soaked in different salt stress conditions in laboratory. The experimental design adopted was completely randomized with four repetitions and six treatments. The parameters measured in the experiment were: germination percentage, germination speed index, average time of germination, germination speed coefficient and vegetative development of seedlings. In this study, it was noted that the development of the hipocotile and radicle decreases linearly with increasing salt concentration. Germination of Arugula resists to saline conditions until -0.4 MPa, and from this concentration there is significant reduction in seed germination.

Este estudo constitui-se de uma reflexão sobre o histórico das políticas públicas em saúde voltadas para adolescentes e jovens brasileiros. Discutiu-se, especialmente, sobre o Programa Saúde do Adolescente (PROSAD), com atenção para a população-alvo, o direcionamento das ações para atender os adolescentes, a variabilidade das metas propostas e a equipe disponível para intervir na população. Este estudo apresenta uma revisão narrativa da literatura sobre políticas públicas na saúde para adolescentes e jovens e análise crítica do documento PROSAD. A discussão teórica foi organizada em três eixos temáticos: (1) Os adolescentes e jovens nas políticas públicas de saúde; (2) Programa Saúde do Adolescente (PROSAD); e (3) o PROSAD e o atendimento ao adolescente na prática. Os principais resultados indicam que o programa não tem atendido todos os adolescentes brasileiros. A articulação de ações para contemplar o público-alvo apresentou fragilidades, principalmente quanto ao protagonismo dos adolescentes nas ações em saúde e à pouca variabilidade de metas. O PROSAD reconheceu a importância da capacitação profissional para o atendimento qualificado ao adolescente, porém enfrentou desafios ligados ao reconhecimento do adolescente como ativo e participativo. Estes resultados indicam a necessidade de avaliações com rigor metodológico para subsidiar a correção de rumos e a (re)orientação de estratégias de ação em saúde voltadas ao público adolescente.

The conversion of residual thermal energy into electricity using TEGs (Thermoelectric Generators) arises as a promising technological alternative for increasing energy efficiency and power generation. In order to optimize the performance of TEGs, it is known that the maximum output power is obtained by matching the impedances between the TEG and the connected load. Therefore, the objective of this work is to present the development of a numerical and a simplified analytical model to determine the internal resistance (Rint) and predict the open circuit voltage, charge voltage, current and power values of TEGs. The models have used as reference the thermoelectric module TEHP 1263-1.5 (Thermonamic), with the analytical one being based on the classical theory of electrical circuit analysis and, for the numerical one, a three-dimensional geometric model was developed and the set of equations were solved in the COMSOL Multiphysics® tool by the finite element method. The Rint obtained by the analytical and numerical models were, respectively, 3.157 Ω and 6.027 Ω, and the value supplied by the supplier is 3.154 Ω. Therefore, the analytical model is indicated as a reference to estimate Rint of the TEG, allowing optimizing its use by choosing the load resistance that will result in the maximum power.
