Abstract

The effect of the initial muscle length (Li) on intrinsic tone (IT) in electrically stimulated guinea pig has been studied. The research seeks to find out if the amplitude of relaxation can determine the amount of intrinsic tone and measure the relationship between the active isometric force and the initial length. Experiments were done on tracheal segments of Hartley guinea pigs weighing 300 to 350 grams. Results show that Li regulates IT and the maximum extent of relaxation. It has also been observed that relaxation indicates a transient and incomplete inhibition of intrinsic tone.

Abstract

The need for evolution in the educational and technological part of higher level educational institutions is evident, as it is the last step for students oriented to their working life. Having the skills in digital knowledge is essential to expand their abilities and attitudes. In this research, we seek to identify the perception of students regarding the degree of knowledge and their reality, in relation to digital skills and their affinity towards them, in addition, it focuses on research methods to make a diagnosis of perception about digital skills of the students of the Facultad de Contaduria y Administracion of the Universidad Veracruzana, and then, identify the transversality of the contents of the subjects and understand the current status. Starting from a methodology, conceptual and theoretical, allowed to analyze, under a deductive ways, the process of conceptualization and, later, its operationalization, where the evaluation dimensions are stipulated, with which an instrument with validity and reliability is presented, applied to a stratified sample to evaluate the five dimensions. The contribution of this research is based on the results of the statistical diagnosis, since with them you can generate strategies in the universities to identify the digital competences of the students and provide better tools focused on achieving a transversal objective in the school career, Implement new learning models and facilitate the acquisition of knowledge with better results.

Abstract

Unselected referred-care adults that were subjected to right and left heart catheterization were analyzed to determine the similarity of the magnitudes of pulmonary artery dicrotic notch pressure and mean pulmonary artery pressure. The dicrotic notch pressure and mean pulmonary artery pressure of adult patients exhibited a strong correlation indicating the presence of an intrinsic hemodynamic property. Furthermore, the closing pressure of the pulmonary artery at the end of ejection is similar to the magnitude of the mean pressure.

Abstract

Trabajo fin de grado presentado en la Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña, Grado en Ingeniería en Tecnologías industriales, Being able to teach complex capabilities, such as folding garments, to a bi-manual robot is a very challenging task, which is often tackled using learning from demonstration datasets. The few garment folding datasets available nowadays to the robotics research community are either gathered from human demonstrations or generated through simulation. The former have the huge problem of perceiving human action and transferring it to the dynamic control of the robot, while the latter requires coding human motion into the simulator in open loop, resulting in far-from-realistic movements. In this thesis, a novel virtual reality (VR) framework is proposed, based on Unity’s 3D platform and the use of HTC Vive Pro system, ZED mini, and ZED 2i cameras, and Leap motion’s hand-tracking module. The framework is capable of detecting and tracking objects, animals, and human bodies in a 3D environment. Moreover, the framework is also capable of simulating very realistic garments while allowing users to interact with them, in real-time, either through handheld controllers or the user’s real hands. By doing so, and thanks to the immersive experience, the framework gets rid of the gap between the human and robot perception-action loop, while simplifying data capture and resulting in more realistic samples. Finally, using the developed framework, a novel garment manipulation dataset will be recorded, containing samples with data and videos of nineteen different types of manipulation which aim to help tasks related to robot learning by demonstration

Abstract

A severe acute asthma attack is defined by the presence of clinical signs of severity and/or a value of peak expiratory flow (PEF) < 30% predicted. The treatment is based mainly on inhaled beta 2 agonists and systemic corticosteroids. Nebulization is the route of administration of choice, because of its simplicity, its efficacy and its tolerability. Anticholinergics are indicated in association with nebulised beta 2 agonists. Response to treatment must be evaluated within an hour, permitting the early detection of "responders" or "non-responders" to the initial treatment. The great majority of deaths from acute asthma are avoidable, underlining the importance of preventive measures. Prevention is based on the control of the asthma by personalized ongoing treatment based on long-term inhaled corticosteroids and the use of oral corticosteroids in the treatment of exacerbations. However, a severe acute asthma attack can appear at any stage of severity of asthma, including controlled asthma, justifying the utilisation of action plans to treat exacerbations.
