The construction industry plays a vital role in meeting the needs of society and enhancing the quality of life. It contributes to a better standard of living for people and increases the economic output of countries all over the world. However, its activities are considered as making a major contribution to environmental problems. From emitting greenhouse gas to contributing waste, construction is not necessarily an environmentally friendly activity. These conflicting issues have pressured the industry to intensify its effort and move towards sustainable construction. As the government in the United Kingdom has set targets towards achieving sustainability by 2050, it is necessary for the construction industry to play its role to protect the environment by engaging in environmental-related practices. The aim of this study, therefore, is to examine how far the pressure from regulators could influence Scottish construction firms to adopt green innovation. Based on the qualitative findings, it shows that current pressure from regulators has not encouraged many building firms to adopt green practices. In fact, the low levels of adoption represent the number one concern within the industry. The findings of this study also have implications, particularly for policy makers, to explore strategies and more stringent regulations that could encourage more firms in the construction sector, to seek to reduce their impact on the natural environment. As the government takes a leadership role in this regard, participation from other stakeholders within the industry is importance to bring about wider adoption of green practices.

- Abstract
The growing interest in environmental innovation has led to an increase in the number of research studies around that area in different industries (Dutz & Sharma, 2012). The construction industry is a critical industry for the study of environmental- or sustainability related issues, considering that, it is responsible for some of the most serious impacts on the environment. Indeed, there is a growing concern regarding environmental impacts resulting from construction activities. By comparison with other industries, its activities are considered as making a major contribution to environmental problems (Ball, 2002; Tam, Tam & Tsui, 2004; Tam & Tam, 2008). In the United Kingdom (UK), specifically, the construction sector contributed 11.2% of the total of UK greenhouse gas emissions in 2013 (Office for National Statistics, 2015) while around 420 million tonnes of construction material is consumed by the construction industry each year, whereby approximately 120 million tonnes is wasted (EISC, 2012). It shows that, by its nature, construction is not an environmentally-friendly activity. Conversely, the construction industry plays a vital role in meeting the needs of society and enhancing the quality of life. Its activities directly affect the nature, function and appearance of the place in which people live. In addition, it contributes to a better standard of living by offering employment to people all over the world. Specifically, the UK construction industry employs 2.1 million people (Rhodes, 2015), accounting for 6.3% of total UK employment in 2014. The industry’s output was increased to £92 billion (6.4% of the total economy) in 2014 (Office for National Statistics, 2015), which makes a valuable contribution to the UK economy. Hence, the economic significance of the construction industry cannot be underestimated.

- Abstract

Attending Safety and Health Induction Course (SHIC) is compulsory for construction workers before they can enter and work in this site. After attending this training, they will get the Green Card which allows them to start working on the sites. However, the PowerPoint (PPT) still be used as an existing medium which has been used to disseminate the safety information in SHIC using the Malay language and English as a mediator. Thus, this study examines the level of technology acceptance of foreign worker towards PPT after attending the training, which assessed using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in order to seek their response. It is important to seek the foreign workers’ response towards PPT which providing empirical evidence to the CIDB, trainer and employers’ management for future improvement. So, TAM has been used to study the factors which impact the foreign workers’ acceptance level towards PPT.The factors contained perceive usefulness (PU), perceive ease of use (PEOU), attitudes towards using (A) and behavioural intention to use (BI).Thereby to seek the foreign workers acceptance level towards PPT in SHIC, convenient sampling has been chosen in this study. The area covered in this study was Kedah and Perlis and it is limited to 64 foreign workers due to the constraint and limitation. The analyzed results reveal that the foreign workers perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use shows the moderate positive relationship towards the PPT.While, foreign workers attitude and behaviour intention to use shows low correlation with no significant impact towards the PPT.The finding suggests that PPT still useful to be used as a learning medium, but needs to be upgraded and improve regarding the content, text, video, language usage, functions, interfaces and others. As a future result for this improvement, it will lead to a better learning medium, encourages them to stay motivated and focus while increasing the construction performance and decreasing the accidents.

- Abstract
Industries that relied heavily on internal development of new products face difficult challenges when planning R&D project portfolios for new products.Due to the uncertain nature of innovation, each R&D project undertaken for developing a new product has a degree of risk of failure which is significant and potentially very high.Major causes for project failure are faults, unpredicted changes and the unforeseen impossibilities of the objectives. Hence, this paper aims to highlight measures in managing risk in the early stage of new product development (NPD), particularly the R&D of the product. This paper also discusses the R&D management implication to technological innovation.
