Abstract

Denote by $\mathcal{P}_{\log}$ the set of all non-constant Pick functions $f$ whose logarithmic derivatives $f^{\, \prime}/f$ also belong to the Pick class. Let $\mathcal{U}(\Lambda)$ be the family of functions $z\cdot f(z)$, where $f \in\mathcal{P}_{\log}$ and $f$ is holomorphic on $\Lambda:=\mathbb{C}\setminus [1, +\infty)$. Important examples of functions in $\mathcal{U}(\Lambda)$ are the classical polylogarithms $Li_\alpha(z)$ $:=$ $\sum_{k=1}^{\infty} z^k / k^\alpha$ for $\alpha \geq 0$. In this paper we prove that every $\varphi \in \mathcal{U}(\Lambda)$ is universally starlike, i.e., $\varphi$ maps every circular domain in $\Lambda$ containing the origin one-to-one onto a starlike domain. Furthermore, we show that every non-constant function $f \in \mathcal{P}_{\log}$ belongs to the Hardy space $H_p$ on the upper half-plane for some constant $p=p(f) > 1$, unless $f$ is proportional to some function $(a-z)^{-\theta}$ with $a \in \mathbb{R}$ and $0 < \theta \leq 1$. Finally we derive a necessary and sufficient condition on a real-valued function $v$ for which there exists $f \in \mathcal{P}_{\log}$ such that $v (x) = \lim_{\varepsilon \to 0} \mathrm{Im} f (x + i \varepsilon)$ for almost all $x \in \mathbb{R}$., Comment: 40 pages

Abstract

The study comprehensively examines the diversification of asparagus exports from Peru, concentrating its analysis on the strategic diversification of markets and companies as pivotal for fostering sustainable growth in the agricultural sector. Utilizing a descriptive and non-experimental quantitative methodology, the research analyzed export data spanning from 2018 to 2023. This analysis was performed using the Herfindahl-Hirschman index (HHI) (Arbulú Ballesteros et al., 2024), a tool designed to measure market concentration levels (Montes Ninaquispe, Pantaleón Santa María, Arbulú Ballesteros, et al., 2023). The findings reveal a significant ongoing dependence on the American market, highlighting it as the primary export destination. However, there is a noticeable trend towards greater diversification among export destinations and the companies involved in these processes. The study notes a progressive decline in market concentration, which suggests a shift towards a more competitive and diversified export environment. Conclusions drawn from the research underscore the critical need to develop strategies that not only diversify markets but also enhance overall competitiveness within the sector. Recommendations from the study stress the importance of tapping into emerging markets, creating value-added products, adopting advanced technologies, and supporting the inception of new businesses. Abstract

The Ramanujan sequence $ \{\theta_{n}\}_{n \geq 0}$, defined as $$ \theta_{0}= \frac{1}{2} \ , \ \ \ \theta_{n} = \left(\ \ \frac{e^{n}}{2} - \sum_{k=0}^{n-1} \frac{n^{k}}{k !} \ \ \right) \cdot \frac{n !}{n^{n}} \ , \ \ n \geq 1 \ ,$$ has been studied on many occasions and in many different contexts. J.Adell and P.Jodra (2008) and S. Koumandos (2013) showed, respectively, that the sequences $\{\theta_{n}\}_{n \geq 0}$ and $\{4/135 - n \cdot (\theta_{n}- 1/3 )\}_{n \geq 0}$ are completely monotone. In the present paper we establish that the sequence $\{(n+1)(\theta_{n}- 1/3 )\}_{n \geq 0}$ is also completely monotone. Furthermore, we prove that the analytic function $(\theta_{1}- 1/3 )^{-1} \sum_{n=1}^{\infty} (\theta_{n}- 1/3 ) \cdot z^{n} / n^{\alpha} $ is universally starlike for every $ \alpha \geq 1 $ in the slit domain $ \mathbb{C} \setminus [1,\infty)$. This seems to be the first result putting the Ramanujan sequence into the context of analytic univalent functions and is a step towards a previous stronger conjecture, proposed by S.Ruscheweyh, L.Salinas and T.Sugawa in 2009, namely that the function $(\theta_{1}- 1/3 )^{-1} \sum_{n=1}^{\infty} (\theta_{n}- 1/3 ) \cdot z^{n} $ is universally convex., Comment: 12 p

Abstract

The study examines how Peru could maintain the sustainability of its blueberry exports through market diversification and competitiveness. Using a quantitative approach, the Herfindahl–Hirschman Index (HHI) and the Balassa Index were calculated. The results showed impressive growth in key markets such as the United States, where exports grew by an average of 115.03% annually, and robust growth in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Despite these increases, the study identified a high concentration in specific markets, particularly in the United States, where the HHI ranged from 2896 to 3828 throughout the evaluated period, indicating significant dependence. Regarding the RCA, the values showed that Peru has maintained a solid comparative advantage, especially towards the United States, where the values fluctuated between 0.09 and 0.55 throughout the study, indicating specialization and efficiency in the export of blueberries to this market. The conclusions highlight that, although Peru has achieved remarkable growth in its blueberry exports and has demonstrated competitive capabilities, it faces the challenge of effectively diversifying its export markets. Recommendations include expanding the exploration of new markets and improving logistic infrastructure and agricultural practices to foster environmental sustainability, as well as adapting marketing strategies to meet the demands of emerging markets and international regulations. Abstract

Land surface temperature (LST) is one of the most important variables in the physical processes of surface energy and water balance. The temporal behavior of LST was analyzed between the latitudes 32°00′ S and 34°24′ S (Valparaíso and Metropolitana regions of Chile) for three summer months (December, January, and February) in the 2000–2017 period, using the Terra MODIS image information and applying the Mann–Kendall test. The results show an increase in LST in the study area, particularly in the Andes mountain range in January (5240 km2), which mainly comprises areas devoid of vegetation and eternal snow and glaciers, and are zones that act as water reserves for the capital city of Santiago. Similarly, vegetated areas such as forests, grasslands, and shrublands also show increasing trends in LST but over smaller surfaces. Abstract

This research assesses the competitiveness of Chilean cherry exports, with a specific focus on the Chinese market, identifying sectoral challenges and opportunities. Implementing quantitative, descriptive and non-experimental methodologies based on previous studies (Montes Ninaquispe et al., 2023), it utilizes the Herfindahl)Hirschman Index (HHI) for market diversification, the Trade Competitiveness Index (TC), and the Revealed Comparative Advantage Index (RCA) based on previous studies (Arbulú Ballesteros et al., 2024). The analysis reveals a significant concentration of exports to China, representing over 88 percent of Chile’s total cherry exports from 2018 to 2022, despite market volatility and a general trend of growth in both volume and value. The HHI indicates a high concentration risk due to dependency on the Chinese market, while the TC and RCA highlight a strong competitive and comparative advantage in this sector. The study concludes the need for market diversification to reduce dependency risks, suggesting the exploration of new markets like Thailand, South Korea, and Ecuador, alongside improvements in marketing strategies. Additionally, it recommends enhancing corporate innovation and operational efficiency via advanced production technologies and optimizing logistics and supply chain management to sustain the competitive advantage of Chilean cherry exports.
