We investigate the non-Gaussian effects of the Saha equation in Rindler space via Tsallis statistics. By considering a system with cylindrical geometry, we deduce the non-Gaussian Saha ionization equation for a partially ionized hydrogen plasma that expands with uniform acceleration. We demonstrate conditions for the validity of the equivalence principle within the realms of both Boltzmann-Gibbs and Tsallis statistics. In the non-Gaussian framework, our findings reveal that the effective binding energy exhibits a quadratic dependence on the frame acceleration, in contrast to the linear dependence predicted by Boltzmann-Gibbs statistics. We show that an accelerated observer shall notice a more pronounced effect on the effective binding energy for $a>0$ and a more attenuated one when $a<0$. We also ascertain that an accelerated observer will measure values of $q$ smaller than those measured in the rest frame. Besides, assuming the equivalence principle, we examine the effects of the gravitational field on the photoionization of hydrogen atoms and pair production. We show that both photoionization and pair production are more intensely suppressed in regions with a strong gravitational field in a non-Gaussian context than in the Boltzmann-Gibbs framework. In this paper, we revisit the hydrogen recombination history from a novel perspective: the evolution of chemical potentials. We derive expressions for the chemical potentials, which depend on the thermal bath temperature and the ionization degree of the universe. Our main finding reveals a constraint between the chemical potentials of hydrogen and proton at $z\approx 1200$ when the free electron fraction is $X_e\approx 1/3$. Furthermore, we present important data on the chemical potentials during recombination, highlighting the differences between the predictions of the Peebles' and CosmoRec code solutions. Tsallis' thermostatistical has received increasing attention due to its success in describing phenomena that manifest unusual thermodynamic properties. In this context, the generalized Saha equation must follow a condition of generalized thermal equilibrium of matter and radiation. The present work aims to explore the non-Gaussian effects on Saha's ionization via Tsallis statistics. To accomplish this, we generalized the number density taking into account a non-Gaussian Fermi-Dirac distribution, and then set out the Saha equation for the cosmological recombination. As a result, we highlight two new non-Gaussian effects: $i$) two generalized chemical equilibrium conditions, one for the relativistic regime and the other for the non-relativistic one; and $ii$) the hydrogen binding $q$-energy. We demonstrated that to yields smooth shifts in the binding energy, the $a$-parameter must be very small. We also showed that binding $q$-energy exhibits symmetrical behavior around the value of the standard binding energy. Besides, we used the $q$-energy in order to access other hydrogen energy levels, and we ascertained the values of the $a$-parameter that access those levels and their relationship to temperature. As the Milky Way and its satellite system become more entrenched in near field cosmology efforts, the need for an accurate mass estimate of the Milky Way's dark matter halo is increasingly critical. With the second and early third data releases of stellar proper motions from {\it Gaia}, several groups calculated full $6$D phase-space information for the population of Milky Way satellite galaxies. Utilizing these data in comparison to subhalo properties drawn from the Phat ELVIS simulations, we constrain the Milky Way dark matter halo mass to be $\sim 1-1.2\times10^{12}~\msun$. We find that the kinematics of subhalos drawn from more- or less-massive hosts (i.e. $>1.2\times10^{12}~\msun$ or $<10^{12}~\msun$) are inconsistent, at the $3\sigma$ confidence level, with the observed velocities of the Milky Way satellites. The preferred host halo mass for the Milky Way is largely insensitive to the exclusion of systems associated with the Large Magellanic Cloud, changes in galaxy formation thresholds, and variations in observational completeness. We investigate the viability of a simple dark matter (DM) model consisting of a single fermion in the context of galactic dynamics. We use a consistent approach that does not presume a particular DM density profile but instead requires that the DM+baryon system is in hydrostatic equilibrium. Using a phenomenological baryon density profile, the model then predicts the DM distribution with a core like behavior close to the galactic center. The presence of supermassive black holes (SMBHs) in the center of large galaxies arises naturally in this framework. Using data from a set of large elliptical and spiral galaxies, and from a small set of dwarf galaxies, we find that the model can explain most of the bulk galactic properties, as well as some of the features observed in the rotation curves, provided the DM mass is in the $\mathcal{O}$(50 eV) range. There is a growing acknowledgement in the scientific community of the importance of making experimental data machine findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (FAIR). Recognizing that high quality metadata are essential to make datasets FAIR, members of the GO FAIR Initiative and the Research Data Alliance (RDA) have initiated a series of workshops to encourage the creation of Metadata for Machines (M4M), enabling any self-identified stakeholder to define and promote the reuse of standardized, comprehensive machine-actionable metadata. The funders of scientific research recognize that they have an important role to play in ensuring that experimental results are FAIR, and that high quality metadata and careful planning for FAIR data stewardship are central to these goals. We describe the outcome of a recent M4M workshop that has led to a pilot programme involving two national science funders, the Health Research Board of Ireland (HRB) and the Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development (ZonMW). These funding organizations will explore new technologies to define at the time that a request for proposals is issued the minimal set of machine-actionable metadata that they would like investigators to use to annotate their datasets, to enable investigators to create such metadata to help make their data FAIR, and to develop data-stewardship plans that ensure that experimental data will be managed appropriately abiding by the FAIR principles. The FAIR Funders design envisions a data-management workflow having seven essential stages, where solution providers are openly invited to participate. One of the strongest predictions of the LambdaCDM cosmological model is the presence of dark satellites orbiting all types of galaxies. We focus here on the dynamical effects of such satellites on disky dwarf galaxies, and demonstrate that these encounters can be dramatic. Although mergers with M_sat > M_d are not very common, because of the lower baryonic content they occur much more frequently on the dwarf scale than for L_*-galaxies. As an example, we present a numerical simulation of a 20% (virial) mass ratio merger between a dark satellite and a disky dwarf (akin to the Fornax dwarf galaxy in luminosity) that shows that the merger remnant has a spheroidal morphology. We conclude that perturbations by dark satellites provide a plausible path for the formation of dSph systems and also could trigger starbursts in gas rich dwarf galaxies. Therefore the transition from disky to the often amorphous, irregular, or spheroidal morphologies of dwarfs could be a natural consequence of the dynamical heating of hitherto unobservable dark satellites., Comment: Submitted to ApJ Letters. 5 pages, 4 figures. We use N-body simulations to explore the origin and a plausible orbit for the Orphan Stream, one of the faintest substructures discovered so far in the outer halo of our Galaxy. We are able to reproduce its position, velocity and distance measurements by appealing to a single wrap of a double-component satellite galaxy. We find that the progenitor of the Orphan Stream could have been an object similar to today's Milky Way dwarfs, such as Carina, Draco, Leo II or Sculptor; and unlikely to be connected to Complex A or Ursa Major II. Our models suggest that such progenitors, if accreted on orbits with apocenters smaller than ~35 kpc, are likely to give rise to very low surface brightness streams, which may be hiding in the outer halo and remain largely undetected with current techniques. We use a semianalytic galaxy catalogue constructed from the Millennium Simulation to study the satellites of isolated galaxies in the LCDM cosmogony. This sample (~80,000$ bright primaries, surrounded by ~178,000 satellites) allows the characterization, with minimal statistical uncertainty, of the dynamical properties of satellite/primary galaxy systems in a LCDM universe. We find that, overall, the satellite population traces the dark matter rather well: its spatial distribution and kinematics may be approximated by an NFW profile with a mildly anisotropic velocity distribution. Their spatial distribution is also mildly anisotropic, with a well-defined ``anti-Holmberg'' effect that reflects the misalignment between the major axis and angular momentum of the host halo. The isolation criteria for our primaries picks not only galaxies in sparse environments, but also a number of primaries at the centre of ''fossil'' groups. We find that the abundance and luminosity function of these unusual systems are in reasonable agreement with the few available observational constraints. We recover the expected L_{host} \sigma_{sat}^3 relation for LCDM models for truly-isolated primaries. Less strict primary selection, however, leads to substantial modification of the scaling relation. We examine the orbits of satellite galaxies identified in a suite of N-body/gasdynamical simulations of the formation of $L_*$ galaxies in a LCDM universe. Most satellites follow conventional orbits; after turning around, they accrete into their host halo and settle on orbits whose apocentric radii are steadily eroded by dynamical friction. However, a number of outliers are also present, we find that ~1/3 of satellites identified at $z=0$ are on unorthodox orbits, with apocenters that exceed their turnaround radii. This population of satellites on extreme orbits consists typically of the faint member of a satellite pair that has been ejected onto a highly-energetic orbit during its first approach to the primary. Since the concurrent accretion of multiple satellite systems is a defining feature of hierarchical models of galaxy formation, we speculate that this three-body ejection mechanism may be the origin of (i) some of the newly discovered high-speed satellites around M31 (such as Andromeda XIV); (ii) some of the distant fast-receding Local Group members, such as Leo I; and (iii) the oddly isolated dwarf spheroidals Cetus and Tucana in the outskirts of the Local Group. We study the population of satellite galaxies formed in a suite of N-body/gasdynamical simulations of galaxy formation in a LCDM universe. We find little spatial or kinematic bias between the dark matter and the satellite population. The velocity dispersion of the satellites is a good indicator of the virial velocity of the halo: \sigma_{sat}/V_{vir}=0.9 +/- 0.2. Applied to the Milky Way and M31 this gives V_{vir}^{MW}=109 +/- 22$ km/s and V_{vir}^{M31} = 138 +/- 35 km/s, respectively, substantially lower than the rotation speed of their disk components. The detailed kinematics of simulated satellites and dark matter are also in good agreement. By contrast, the stellar halo of the simulated galaxies is kinematically and spatially distinct from the population of surviving satellites. This is because the survival of a satellite depends on mass and on time of accretion; surviving satellites are biased toward low-mass systems that have been recently accreted by the galaxy. Our results support recent proposals for the origin of the systematic differences between stars in the Galactic halo and in Galactic satellites: the elusive ``building blocks'' of the Milky Way stellar halo were on average more massive, and were accreted (and disrupted) earlier than the population of dwarfs that has survived self-bound until the present., Comment: 13 pages, 11 figures, MNRAS in press.
