1. Características Clínicas de los Pacientes Adolescentes con Gesto e Intento Suicida en el Hospital Infantil del Estado de Sonora.

- Abstract
Introduction: Teenage suicide is a serious public health problem, an increase in rates of morbidity and mortality in recent years in this age group. The suicidal gesture is the gesture of making a suicidal act, which generally involves no relevant injuries to the subject and the suicide attempt is the attempt to make suicide or intentional self-injury not resulting in death. Objective: To identify and differentiate the clinical features of the adolescent patients with suicidal gesture and suicide attempt. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study included 16 adolescents during the period of January to December 2013 who were discharged from internal medicine and emergency medicine at Hospital Infantil del Estado de Sonora with diagnosis suicidal gesture and suicide attempt, analyzing clinical characteristics using descriptive statistics and mean difference with a significance level of 5%. Results: 16 patients were discharged (11 with suicidal attempt and 5 suicidal gesture). Females predominated 15: 1. The age at presentation was 15.2 years for attempted +/- 0.90SD and 14.6 years +/- 0-89SD for gesture p> 0.05. Schooling in the suicide attempt was 8.88 +/- 1.05SD and 8.75 +/- 0.95SD for suicidal gesture p> 0.05. Most patients were single in 72.7% in the suicide attempt and 80% in the suicidal gesture. Suicidal behavior is presented mostly in the kind of dysfunctional nuclear family 50% of the total. The main reason was discussion with the mother in 60% of the suicidal gesture and 45.4% of the attempt. The procedure used was the predominant drug intake, being the analgesic the main in suicidal gesture and benzodiazepines the main in suicide attempt. The diagnosis of depression was brought together in 10 patients (62.5%) Conclusion: Both types of suicidal behavior are presented at the end of early adolescence, the precipitating factor was related to family problems especially maternal predominated medication intake.
