We introduce the notion of causally-null-compactifiable space-times which can be canonically converted into a compact timed-metric-spaces using the cosmological time of Andersson-Howard-Galloway and the null distance of Sormani-Vega. We produce a large class of such space-times including future developments of compact initial data sets and regions which exhaust asymptotically flat space-times. We then present various notions of intrinsic distances between these space-times (introducing the timed-Hausdorff distance) and prove some of these notions of distance are definite in the sense that they equal zero iff there is a time-oriented Lorentzian isometry between the space-times. These definite distances enable us to define various notions of convergence of space-times to limit space-times which are not necessarily smooth. We propose a new foliation of asymptotically Euclidean initial data sets by 2-spheres of constant spacetime mean curvature (STCMC). The leaves of the foliation have the STCMC-property regardless of the initial data set in which the foliation is constructed which asserts that there is a plethora of STCMC 2-spheres in a neighborhood of spatial infinity of any asymptotically flat spacetime. The STCMC-foliation can be understood as a covariant relativistic generalization of the CMC-foliation suggested by Huisken and Yau. We show that a unique STCMC-foliation exists near infinity of any asymptotically Euclidean initial data set with non-vanishing energy which allows for the definition of a new notion of total center of mass for isolated systems. This STCMC-center of mass transforms equivariantly under the asymptotic Poincar\'e group of the ambient spacetime and in particular evolves under the Einstein evolution equations like a point particle in Special Relativity. When working with asymptotically hyperbolic initial data sets for general relativity it is convenient to assume certain simplifying properties. We prove that the subset of initial data sets with such properties is dense in the set of physically reasonable asymptotically hyperbolic initial data sets. More specifically, we show that an asymptotically hyperbolic initial data set with non-negative local energy density can be approximated by an initial data set with strictly positive local energy density and a simple structure at infinity, while changing the mass arbitrarily little. This is achieved by suitably modifying the argument used by Eichmair, Huang, Lee and Schoen in the asymptotically Euclidean case.

We define the (total) center of mass for suitably asymptotically hyperbolic time-slices of asymptotically anti-de Sitter spacetimes in general relativity. We do so in analogy to the picture that has been consolidated for the (total) center of mass of suitably asymptotically Euclidean time-slices of asymptotically Minkowskian spacetimes (isolated systems). In particular, we unite -- an altered version of -- the approach based on Hamiltonian charges with an approach based on CMC-foliations near infinity. The newly defined center of mass transforms appropriately under changes of the asymptotic coordinates and evolves in the direction of an appropriately defined linear momentum under the Einstein evolution equations.

For asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds of dimension $n$ with scalar curvature at least equal to $-n(n-1)$ the conjectured positive mass theorem states that the mass is non-negative, and vanishes only if the manifold is isometric to hyperbolic space. In this paper we study asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds which are also conformally hyperbolic outside a ball of fixed radius, and for which the positive mass theorem holds. For such manifolds we show that the conformal factor tends to one as the mass tends to zero.

In this paper we study asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds given as graphs of asymptotically constant functions over hyperbolic space $\bH^n$. The graphs are considered as subsets of $\bH^{n+1}$ and carry the induced metric. For such manifolds the scalar curvature appears in the divergence of a 1-form involving the integrand for the asymptotically hyperbolic mass. Integrating this divergence we estimate the mass by an integral over an inner boundary. In case the inner boundary satisfies a convexity condition this can in turn be estimated in terms of the area of the inner boundary. The resulting estimates are similar to the conjectured Penrose inequality for asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds. We construct solutions of the constraint equation with non constant mean curvature on an asymptotically hyperbolic manifold by the conformal method. Our approach consists in decreasing a certain exponent appearing in the equations, constructing solutions of these sub-critical equations and then in letting the exponent tend to its true value. We prove that the solutions of the sub-critical equations remain bounded which yields solutions of the constraint equation unless a certain limit equation admits a non-trivial solution. We construct the first known complex valued harmonic morphisms from the non-compact Lie groups SL(n,R), SU*(2n) and Sp(n,R) equipped with their standard Riemannian metrics. We then introduce the notion of a bi-eigenfamily and employ this to construct the first known solutions on the non-compact Riemannian SO*(2n), SO(p,q), SU(p,q) and Sp(p,q). Applying a duality principle we then show how to manufacture the first known complex valued harmonic morphisms from the compact Lie groups SO(n), SU(n) and Sp(n) equipped with semi-Riemannian metrics., Comment: 24 pages
