Digital transformation is performed through the integration of information technologies into all areas of a business. The changes are radical, comprehensive and as such, they affect workplaces as well. Many authors overemphasize the use of technologies and regard them as central to the digital workplace. On the other hand, the position of the authors who argue that the digital workplace should coordinate technologies, processes and people is more correct. Theoretical research often does not clearly define the term digital workplace. Furthermore, the studies often overemphasize only the benefits while omitting the challenges presented by the digital workplace implementation. Therefore, the paper presents the requirements for a workplace to be considered digital, its advantages and challenges, and it shows how to balance the positive and negative repercussions of workplace digitalization.

Modern-day human resource managers are faced with a complex task of solving inter-generational problems arising among their employees. Working with the members of Generation Y is anything but stress-free. Young employees tend to have different personality traits, value systems and attitudes than the older generations, and this diversity is expressed at the workplace as well. It is particularly important for employers and HR managers to know the characteristics of the youngest employees and their work expectations, in order to provide appropriate working environment and successfully manage the incidental conflicts between the employees of different age groups. The aim of this study is to present various characteristics of Generation Y, their expectations from work, and to point at those HRM activities which can help attract and keep talented young employees who need adequate care.

Parallel with the official IT infrastructure, which is developed, procured, and maintained by the IT sector, most organizations have the so-called Shadow IT coexisting with it. These are autonomous systems and processes developed or procured without the knowledge, approval and support of IT sector, developed by staff members who are not IT experts and who are employed in some of the company's business sectors. Such systems potentially disrupt the IT sector's intention and task to provide optimal support to business processes by continuous improvement of quality and productivity of the IT processes, but they can also be the source of innovation and guidelines how to improve the processes of using IT. After a brief insight into the forms and causes of emergence of Shadow IT, the article presents a chosen proposal of taxonomy of concepts used in this area, to secure unambiguity, precision and well-foundedness of the conceptual denotation in future research.

Development and proliferation of graphical user interface and interactive software environments significantly contributed to the already present trend of end-user application development, which enables endusers who are not IT professionals to build applications and adjust software products to their needs up to a certain extent. According to some estimates, one third of business data generated in 2014 originated from applications developed by end-users. This paper examines the reasons that stimulate end-user application development, lists its potential benefits and introduces a delineation between specific categories of end-users.

Volatile market and legislative conditions impose constant changes on business processes, also demanding a change in the requirements set before information systems. As a solution to a situation in which the existing information systems cannot reach an adequate level of quality to keep up with the changes set up before them, user developed applications emerge, which are often developed in spreadsheet programs. Without questioning the benefits and utility of user developed applications in spreadsheet programs, practical experience nevertheless testifies to the consequences of errors in the development. The aim of this article is to give specific examples which draw attention to the seriousness of this issue and the need to introduce a framework for building and using user developed applications in spreadsheet programs.

With raising number of products offered by manufacturers, and the same or smaller sales space, retailers are in constant quest for optimal model of allocating limited shelf space to list of products in assortment that will insure highest possible profit of a certain category but also of the whole retailer's product assortment. Category management's space management is offering some old approaches and new models for additional optimization of shelf space management on category level. This study aspires to investigate the state of shelf space management in retailing in Croatia and to clearly elaborate retailers' category management and other principles in space management activity on category, segment and brand level. The paper aims to help food manufacturers, as well as small and family owned retailers in Croatia and in other developing countries to ease and facilitate navigation through the category management imposed by retailers. By using the method of observation and analysis of the share of shelf space and market share (sales) data, authors attempt to deductively draw conclusions on the implementation of space management principles at the level of category Pickled and canned vegetables. Observations and analysis are done through the case study of four retail companies. Research has shown that retailers in Croatia in sub-category of Pickled and canned vegetables use contemporary category management principles in extensive way, especially in shelf space management part. Although they have their own specificities, contemporary retailers give most credit to giving equal share of shelf space to product's segment as its share of sale (or market share). Additional criteria were identified on brand level, namely private label's management, relationships aspects, and assortment dynamics limitations. Findings should enable manufacturers to capture better position in the category, and possibly influence the category itself through better satisfaction of both retailers', their own and consumers' interests.

- Abstract
Objective: This study aims to understand whether higher use of a patient portal can have an impact on mental health functioning and recovery., Method: A mixed methods approach was used for this study. In 2019-2021, patients with mental health diagnoses at outpatient clinics in an academic centre were invited to complete World Health Organization Disability Assessment Scale 12 (WHODAS-12) and Mental Health Recovery Measure surveys at baseline, 3 months, and 6 months after signing up for the portal. At the 3-month time point, patients were invited to a semistructured interview with a member of the team to contextualize the findings obtained from the surveys. Analytics data was also collected from the platform to understand usage patterns on the portal., Results: Overall, 113 participants were included in the analysis. There was no significant change in mental health functioning and recovery scores over the 6-month period. However, suboptimal usage was observed as 46% of participants did not complete any tasks within the portal. Thirty-five participants had low use of the portal (1-9 interactions) and 18 participants had high usage (10+ interactions). There were also no differences in mental health functioning and recovery scores between low and high users of the portal. Qualitative interviews highlighted many opportunities where the portal can support overall functioning and mental health recovery., Conclusions: Collectively, this study suggests that higher use of a portal had no impact, either positive or negative, on mental health outcomes. While it may offer convenience and improved patient satisfaction, adequate support is needed to fully enable these opportunities for patient care. As the type of interaction with the portal was not specifically addressed, future work should focus on looking at ways to support patient engagement and portal usage throughout their care journey., Competing Interests: Declaration of Conflicting InterestsThe authors declared no potential conflicts of interest with respect to the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article.

- Abstract
Evolutionary models suggest that self-concept is a dynamic structure shaped jointly by interpersonal motivations and social challenges. Yet, empirical data assessing this claim are sparse. We examined this question in two studies. In study 1, participants (N = 386) generated spontaneous self-descriptions and filled out questionnaires assessing dominance and affiliation motivations. We found that self-descriptions categorized as communion or agency were associated with affiliation and dominance motivations, respectively. In study 2, participants (N = 360) underwent an inclusionary manipulation (exclusion, inclusion, popularity) and completed self-description and motivation measures. We found that exclusion (compared to inclusion/popularity) enhanced the salience of communion self-descriptions such that participants described themselves using more communion traits. Finally, in the popularity condition (compared to exclusion/inclusion), an enhanced positive association between salience of agency self-descriptions and dominance motivation was found. Our results support evolutionary models suggesting that self-concept organization shapes and is being shaped by social motivations to enhance interpersonal functioning.

- Abstract
Patient portals are a form of technology that supports patients in accessing their health information, and other functions like scheduling appointments. The presence and utilization of patient portals in mental health contexts is relatively new. Despite research existing in the mental health literature that indicates that there may be benefits when patients have access to their mental health notes, there is limited information as to how best to implement portals, and support adoption among patients and their family members. Given this gap in literature, this study aimed to identify patient and family readiness, needs, and perceptions of a mental health patient portal. Surveys were administered to patients (n = 103) and family members (n = 7) either in-person or over the phone by a Peer Support Worker. The sample of participants consisted of patients and family members affiliated with Canada's largest mental health hospital located in Toronto, Ontario. Study results indicated that patients had the highest interest in the following portal functions: scheduling appointments, checking appointment times, and accessing their health record. Both patients and family members expressed their concerns about cybersecurity and potential privacy breaches. The results of this study, as well as the approach, can inform future patient portal planning and implementation activities at other healthcare organizations.

- Abstract
Introduction: Twenty per cent of Canadians will experience a mental illness in any year. Mental health patient portals have been developed to support these individuals in taking more control over their own mental health and care. This may be done through electronic access to their health records and other supportive functions like completion of online self-assessments. To date, there has been limited research into the value that these portals may provide within mental health contexts. This study will identify what value mental health patient portals may offer to patients and their family members., Methods and Analysis: This study will use a mixed-methods design. Patients will complete a survey consisting of validated instruments at the time of enrolment in the portal, and at 3 and 6 months of portal use. Patient and family member focus groups will be conducted. Portal usage data will be collected to identify if there are differences in outcomes based on usage. The study will be done at Canada's largest mental health and addiction teaching hospital, and will be conducted using a patient and family-oriented research approach, engaging these important representatives in all stages of the research process. The primary data analysis for the survey portion of the study will be done using linear mixed-effect models, assessing the differences between patients with different portal usage levels. A thematic analysis will be conducted of the focus group transcripts., Ethics and Dissemination: Approval from the study site's Research Ethics Board has been obtained. The dissemination of findings of this study will be done through presentations at conferences, as well as a formal peer-reviewed journal article. Additionally, the research team will work with a group of patients and family members to identify opportunities to complete knowledge translation and dissemination activities in non-traditional venues., Competing Interests: Competing interests: None declared., (© Author(s) (or their employer(s)) 2018. - Abstract
Background: Barcode medication administration systems have been implemented in a number of healthcare settings in an effort to decrease medication errors. To use the technology, nurses are required to login to an electronic health record, scan a medication and a form of patient identification to ensure that these correspond correctly with the ordered medications prior to medication administration. In acute care settings, patient wristbands have been traditionally used as a form of identification; however, past research has suggested that this method of identification may not be preferred in inpatient mental health settings. If barcode medication administration technology is to be effectively used in this context, healthcare organizations need to understand patient preferences with regards to identification methods., Purpose: The purpose of this study was to elicit patient perceptions of barcode medication administration identification practices in inpatient mental health settings. Insights gathered can be used to determine patient-centered preferences of identifying patients using barcode medication administration technology., Methods: Using a qualitative descriptive approach, fifty-two (n=52) inpatient interviews were completed by a Peer Support Worker using a semi-structured interview guide over a period of two months. Interviews were conducted in a number of inpatient mental health areas including forensic, youth, geriatric, acute, and rehabilitation services. An interprofessional team, inclusive of a Peer Support Worker, completed a thematic analysis of the interview data., Results: Six themes emerged as a result of the inductive data analysis. These included: management of information, privacy and security, stigma, relationships, safety and comfort, and negative associations with the technology. Patients also indicated that they would like a choice in the type of identification method used during barcode medication administration. As well, suggestions were made for how barcode medication administration practices could be modified to become more patient-centered., Conclusion: The results of this study have a number of implications for healthcare organizations. As patients indicated that they would like a choice in the type of identification method used during barcode medication administration, healthcare organizations will need to determine how they can facilitate this process. Furthermore, many of the concerns that patients had with barcode medication administration technology could be addressed through patient education., (Copyright © 2017 Elsevier B.V. - Abstract
According to the immunological classification, plasmacytoma is assigned to the group of secretory immunocytomas. The designation "immunoproliferative hemoblastosis" implies certain peculiarities of immunological reactivity in its malignant transformation. The study deals with some of the more recent concepts on the immunochemical properties and morphological differentiation of plasmatic or plasmacytoma cells. Mention is also made of the results of some tests for evaluation of the function of T and B lymphocytes in patients suffering from a generalized plasmacytoma, during the course of chemotherapy.

Cell membrane proteins of patients with hereditary spherocytosis, elliptocytosis and stomatocytosis were analyzed by SDS acrylamide gel electrophoresis. From 7 patients with hereditary spherocytosis only one can be supposed to have a reduction of a band with a molecular weight of about 80,000 daltons. 3 members of a family with hereditary elliptocytosis and 1 patient with hereditary stomatocytosis did not differ from the donors. The question of the nature of membrane defect in haemolytic anaemias could not be answered by the results obtained.
