We propose protocols for acquiring speech materials, making them reusable for future investigations, and presenting them for subjective experiments. We also provide means to evaluate existing speech materials' compatibility with target applications. We built these protocols and tools based on structured test signals and analysis methods, including a new family of the Time-Stretched Pulse (TSP). The discovery of superconductivity under high pressure with $T_c$ exceeding 80 K in a bilayer nickelate La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$ has led to a strong desire to realize similar high $T_c$ phenomena at ambient pressure. As one possible path toward realizing superconductivity at ambient pressure, we here propose to consider Sr$_3$Ni$_2$O$_5$Cl$_2$ as a possible candidate. In this study, we theoretically investigate the electronic structure of Sr$_3$Ni$_2$O$_5$Cl$_2$ and its structural stability. Our phonon calculation shows that this compound with the $I4/mmm$ tetragonal structure is dynamically stable even at ambient pressure. The characteristic crystal field in this compound lowers the Ni-$d_{3z^2-r^2}$ orbital energy, by which the Ni-$d_{3z^2-r^2}$ orbital becomes rather closer to the half-filling in Sr$_3$Ni$_2$O$_5$Cl$_2$ than La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$. As a result, we find that superconductivity is enhanced even though a relatively strong orbital hybridization between the $t_{2g}$ and $e_g$ orbitals is somewhat detrimental for superconductivity. We also check the formation enthalpy, which shows that the high-pressure synthesis can be a good way to actually produce Sr$_3$Ni$_2$O$_5$Cl$_2$. We find that Sr$_3$Ni$_2$O$_5$Cl$_2$ is a promising new candidate of bilayer-nickelate superconductors, which can possess even higher $T_c$ than pressurized La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$, at ambient pressure., Comment: 11 pages, 8 figures

We consider a total variation type energy which measures the jump discontinuities different from usual total variation energy. Such a type of energy is obtained as a singular limit of the Kobayashi-Warren-Carter energy with minimization with respect to the order parameter. We consider the Rudin-Osher-Fatemi type energy by replacing relaxation term by this type of total variation energy. We show that all minimizers are piecewise constant if the data is continuous in one-dimensional setting. Moreover, the number of jumps is bounded by an explicit constant involving a constant related to the fidelity. This is quite different from conventional Rudin-Osher-Fatemi energy where a minimizer must have no jump if the data has no jumps. The existence of a minimizer is guaranteed in multi-dimensional setting when the data is bounded., Comment: 43 pages, 11 figures

We theoretically propose a possibility of realizing high $T_c$ superconductivity having $s\pm$-wave symmetry in the heavily hole-doped infinite layer nickelates La$_{1-x}$Sr$_x$NiO$_2$. We consider situations where the original $P4/mmm$ symmetry of LaNiO$_2$ is maintained even for a significant amount of Sr substitution by growing thin films on substrates having tetragonal symmetry. Considering such cases is indeed justified by our phonon calculations. For electron configurations somewhat close to $d^8$, the interaction between the $d_{x^2-y^2}$ band and the other $3d$ bands that lie just below the Fermi level results in an enhancement of superconductivity where the sign of the gap function is reversed between the former and the latter bands. The strong enhancement of superconductivity can be attributed to the large energy level offset between $d_{x^2-y^2}$ and other orbitals due to the absence of the apical oxygens, as has been pointed out in previous studies., Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures

In this paper, we examine the dipole-type method of fundamental solutions, which can be conceptualized as a discretization of the "singularity-removed" double-layer potential. We present a method for removing the ill-conditionality, which was previously considered a significant challenge, and provide a mathematical analysis in the context of disk regions. We provide thermodynamic evidence for the presence of a magnetic-field-induced small phase pocket near the antiferro-quadrupole (AFQ) phase boundary in the non-Kramers $\Gamma_3$ doublet system PrIr$_2$Zn$_{20}$. In particular, we measured the specific heat as functions of temperature $T$, magnetic field $B$, and field angle $\phi_B$, and found a second specific-heat anomaly in a relatively wide field-angle range near $B \parallel [001]$, although fine tuning of the field strength is required. We also investigated the rotational magnetocaloric effect and evaluated an entropy change in this phase pocket. The present findings demonstrate that multipole degrees of freedom give rise to a magnetic-field-induced exotic order in PrIr$_2$Zn$_{20}$, suggesting the possibility of switching between the order parameters or emergence of a multiple-$q$ order of quadrupoles., Comment: 5 pages, 5 figures (main text) + 6 pages, 5 figures (Supplemental Material), accepted for publication in Phys. We examined the magnetic properties of YbBe13, which exhibits an antiferromagnetic order below TN = 1.2 K. Unlike other MBe13 compounds (M = rare earth/actinide elements), based on elastic neutron scattering, we observed an incommensurate magnetic propagation vector {\tau} = (0,0,{\tau}z), where {\tau}z = 0.5385 is in the reciprocal lattice unit. Additionally, we constructed a precise magnetic phase diagram for YbBe13. We observed non-trivial magnetic anomalies in YbBe13, which cannot be understood based on a simple helical order. Our results for YbBe13 provide an opportunity to reconsider the electron state of UBe13 and present an important step toward a comprehensive understanding of magnetic correlations in MBe13 series., Comment: 5 pages, 5 figures

Upon melting, the molecules in the crystal explore numerous configurations, reflecting an increase in disorder. The molar entropy of disorder can be defined by Bolzmann's formula dSd = Rln(Wd) where Wd is the increase in the number of microscopic states, so far inaccessible experimentally. We found that the Arrhenius frequency factor A of the electron diffraction signal decay provides Wd via an experimental equation A = AINTWd where AINT is an inelastic scattering cross-section. The method connects Clausius and Boltzmann experimentally and supplements the Clausius approach, being applicable to a femtogram quantity of thermally unstable and biomolecular crystals. The data also showed that crystal disordering and crystallization of melt are reciprocal, both governed by the entropy change, but manifesting in opposite directions., Comment: 18 pages, 5 figures, 1 table

To clarify the nature of high-temperature superconductivity in the bilayer nickelate La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$ under pressure, we investigate, using the density-matrix renormalization group method, the pair correlations in the two-orbital $t$-$J$ ladder model. While the interchain-intraorbital pair correlations exhibit a slow power-law decay in both orbitals, the interorbital pair correlation also develops strongly enough to be comparable with the intraorbital correlations. These intra and interorbital pair correlations are enhanced by Hund's coupling, but more importantly, the interorbital pair correlation develops even when interorbital pairing glue mediated by Hund's coupling is absent. Our finding suggests that the pair correlation in the present system develops as a hybridized two-orbital entity, which may have some implications on the superconductivity in the bilayer nickelate., Comment: 7+6 pages, 5+9 figures

We propose a threshold-type algorithm to the $L^2$-gradient flow of the Canham-Helfrich functional generalized to $\mathbb{R}^N$. The algorithm to the Willmore flow is derived as a special case in $\mathbb{R}^2$ or $\mathbb{R}^3$. This algorithm is constructed based on an asymptotic expansion of the solution to the initial value problem for a fourth order linear parabolic partial differential equation whose initial data is the indicator function on the compact set $\Omega_0$. The crucial points are to prove that the boundary $\partial\Omega_1$ of the new set $\Omega_1$ generated by our algorithm is included in $O(t)$-neighborhood from $\partial\Omega_0$ for small time $t>0$ and to show that the derivative of the threshold function in the normal direction for $\partial\Omega_0$ is far from zero in the small time interval. Finally, numerical examples of planar curves governed by the Willmore flow are provided by using our threshold-type algorithm.

Motivated by high-temperature superconductivity in pressurized La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$, we investigate the pair correlations in the two-orbital Hubbard ladder, which consists of the nearly half-filled and nearly quarter-filled orbitals. By employing the density matrix renormalization group method, we demonstrate that the pair correlation exhibits a power-law decay against the distance while the spin correlation decays exponentially. The decay exponent of the pair correlation of the nearly half-filled orbital is comparable to the exponent of the quasi-long-range superconducting correlation in the doped single-orbital Hubbard ladder, which suggests the importance of the $d_{3z^2-r^2}$ orbital in La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

Regularization by the Shannon entropy enables us to efficiently and approximately solve optimal transport problems on a finite set. We study the possibility of superconductivity in a trilayer Ruddlesden-Popper nickelate La$_4$Ni$_3$O$_{10}$ under pressure both theoretically and experimentally, making comparison with the recently discovered high $T_c$ superconductor La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$, a bilayer nickelate. Through DFT calculations, we find that a structural phase transition from monoclinic to tetragonal takes place around 10 - 15 GPa. Using the tetragonal crystal structure, we theoretically investigate the possibility of superconductivity, where a combination of fluctuation exchange approximation and linearized Eliashberg equation is applied to a six-orbital model constructed from first principles band calculation. The obtained results suggests that La$_4$Ni$_3$O$_{10}$ may also become superconducting under high pressure with $T_c$ comparable to some cuprates, although it is not as high as La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$. We also perform experimental studies using our polycrystalline samples of La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_{7.01}$ and La$_4$Ni$_3$O$_{9.99}$. The superconducting transition of La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_{7.01}$, with a maximum onset $T_c$ of 67.0 K at a pressure of 26.5 GPa, is confirmed by a drop in the electrical resistance, as well as the magnetic field dependence of the resistance. Quite interestingly, similar temperature and magnetic field dependencies of the resistance are observed also for La$_4$Ni$_3$O$_{9.99}$, where a drop in the resistance is observed at lower temperatures compared to La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_{7.01}$, under pressures of 32.8 GPa and above. Given the theoretical expectation, the reduction in the resistance can most likely be attributed to the occurrence of superconductivity in La$_4$Ni$_3$O$_{9.99}$. The temperature at which the resistance deviates from a linear behavior, considered as the onset $T_c$, monotonically increases up to 23 K at 79.2 GPa, which is opposite to the pressure dependence of $T_c$ in La3Ni2O7.01., Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures, Fig.4 added

We introduce a general framework for measuring acoustic properties such as liner time-invariant (LTI) response, signal-dependent time-invariant (SDTI) component, and random and time-varying (RTV) component simultaneously using structured periodic test signals. The framework also enables music pieces and other sound materials as test signals by "safeguarding" them by adding slight deterministic "noise." Measurement using swept-sin, MLS (Maxim Length Sequence), and their variants are special cases of the proposed framework. We implemented interactive and real-time measuring tools based on this framework and made them open-source. Gamma rays from HESS J1849$-$000, a middle-aged TeV pulsar wind nebula (PWN), are observed by the Tibet air shower array and the muon detector array. The detection significance of gamma rays reaches $4.0\, \sigma$ and $4.4\, \sigma$ levels above 25 TeV and 100 TeV, respectively, in units of Gaussian standard deviation $\sigma$. The energy spectrum measured between $40\, {\rm TeV} < E < 320\, {\rm TeV}$ for the first time is described with a simple power-law function of ${\rm d}N/{\rm d}E = (2.86 \pm 1.44) \times 10^{-16}(E/40\, {\rm TeV})^{-2.24 \pm 0.41}\, {\rm TeV}^{-1}\, {\rm cm}^{-2}\, {\rm s}^{-1}$. The gamma-ray energy spectrum from the sub-TeV ($E < 1\, {\rm TeV}$) to sub-PeV ($100\, {\rm TeV} < E < 1\, {\rm PeV}$) ranges including the results of previous studies can be modeled with the leptonic scenario, inverse Compton scattering by high-energy electrons accelerated by the PWN of PSR J1849$-$0001. On the other hand, the gamma-ray energy spectrum can also be modeled with the hadronic scenario in which gamma rays are generated from the decay of neutral pions produced by collisions between accelerated cosmic-ray protons and the ambient molecular cloud found in the gamma-ray emitting region. The cutoff energy of cosmic-ray protons $E_{\rm p\, cut}$, cut is estimated at ${\rm log}_{10}(E_{\rm p,\, cut}/{\rm TeV}) = 3.73^{+2.98}_{-0.66}$, suggesting that protons are accelerated up to the PeV energy range. Our study thus proposes that HESS J1849$-$000 should be further investigated as a new candidate for a Galactic PeV cosmic-ray accelerator, PeVatron., Comment: 10 pages, 2 figures, Accepted for publication from the Astrophysical Journal

HESS J1843$-$033 is a very-high-energy gamma-ray source whose origin remains unidentified. This work presents, for the first time, the energy spectrum of gamma rays beyond $100\, {\rm TeV}$ from the HESS J1843$-$033 region using the data recorded by the Tibet air shower array and its underground muon detector array. A gamma-ray source with an extension of $0.34^{\circ} \pm 0.12^{\circ}$ is successfully detected above $25\, {\rm TeV}$ at $(\alpha,\, \delta) = (281.09^{\circ}\pm 0.10^{\circ},\, -3.76^{\circ}\pm 0.09^{\circ})$ near HESS J1843$-$033 with a statistical significance of $6.2\, \sigma$, and the source is named TASG J1844$-$038. The position of TASG J1844$-$038 is consistent with those of HESS J1843$-$033, eHWC J1842$-$035, and LHAASO J1843$-$0338. The measured gamma-ray energy spectrum in $25\, {\rm TeV} < E < 130\, {\rm TeV}$ is described with ${\rm d}N/{\rm d}E = (9.70\pm 1.89)\times 10^{-16} (E/40\, {\rm TeV})^{-3.26\pm 0.30}\, {\rm TeV}^{-1} {\rm cm}^{-2} {\rm s}^{-1}$, and the spectral fit to the combined spectra of HESS J1843$-$033, LHAASO J1843$-$0338, and TASG J1844$-$038 implies the existence of a cutoff at $49.5\pm 9.0\, {\rm TeV}$. Associations of TASG J1844-038 with SNR G28.6$-$0.1 and PSR J1844-0346 are also discussed in detail for the first time., Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures, 1 table

This paper is concerned with a singular limit of the Kobayashi-Warren-Carter system, a phase field system modelling the evolutions of structures of grains. Under a suitable scaling, the limit system is formally derived when the interface thickness parameter tends to zero. Different from many other problems, it turns out that the limit system is a system involving fractional time derivatives, although the original system is a simple gradient flow. A rigorous derivation is given when the problem is reduced to a gradient flow of a single-well Modica-Mortola functional in a one-dimensional setting., Comment: 24 pages

The Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov (FFLO) state is an exotic superconducting phase formed by Cooper pairs with finite center-of-mass momentum $q$. On theoretical grounds, the superconducting order parameter in the FFLO state is spatially modulated along the $q$ vector, and the emergence of an associated anisotropy is expected at the phase transition from the Abrikosov state to the FFLO state. Here, we report the results of high-resolution magnetostriction measurements for a single crystal of CeCoIn$_5$ around $B \parallel c$. We find two anomalies in the magnetostriction along the $c$ axis, parallel to the magnetic-field orientation. In sharp contrast, this $B_{\rm K}$ anomaly disappears in the magnetostriction along the $a$-axis direction, perpendicular to the magnetic-field orientation. To explain this uniaxial expansion, we suggest a possibility that the FFLO transition occurs slightly below the upper critical field, and the FFLO modulation vector parallel to the applied magnetic field gives rise to the anisotropic response., Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures (main text) + 12 pages, 10 figures (Supplemental Material), accepted for publication in Phys. Inspired by a recent experiment showing that La$_3$Ni$_2$O$_7$ exhibits high $T_c$ superconductivity under high pressure, we theoretically revisit the possibility of superconductivity in this material. We find that superconductivity can take place which is essentially similar to that of the bilayer Hubbard model consisting of the Ni $3d_{3z^2-r^2}$ orbitals. Although the coupling with the $3d_{x^2-y^2}$ orbitals degrades superconductivity, $T_c$ can still be high enough to understand the experiment thanks to the very high $T_c$ reached in the bilayer Hubbard model., Comment: 3 figures, 6 pages

We theoretically investigate the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) to Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) crossover in a two-dimensional Fermi gas with the finite-range interaction by using the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov theory. Expanding the scattering phase shift in terms of the scattering length and effective range, we discuss the effect of the finite-range interaction on the pairing and thermodynamic properties. By solving the gap equation and the number equation self-consistently, we numerically calculate the effective-range dependence of the pairing gap, chemical potential, and pair size throughout the BCS-BEC crossover.
