Kouri-jima island is a small island close to the northern side of Motobu peninsula in Okinawa Island. The vascular flora of Kouri-jima island was studied to gather data which may contribute to the advancement of environmental education in remote islands. A total of 465 species, one subspecies, five varieties, and two forms of vascular plants from 111 families were observed in the wild state on the island; out of these plants, 315 species, one subspecies, four varieties, and two forms were native. Among all identified species, Arisaema ringens, Sageretia thea and Eupatorium lindleyanum were determined to be floristically noteworthy because of their limited distribution. The second part of the survey of the vascular flora from Sesoko-jima island, close to the western coast of Motobu peninsula in Okinawa Island, is reported here. Results revealed the unique flora with a total of 113 families, 366 genera, 483 species, 1 subspecies, 4 varieties, and 1 form of vascular plants. Out of these plants, 329 species, 1 subspecies, 3 varieties, and 1 form were native. Among all identified species, Marsdenia tomentosa, Scutellaria guilielmii and Ranunculus ternatus var. lutchuensis, Saururus chinensis, Carex alliiformis, Alangium premnifolium, Stauntonia hexaphylla, and Lindernia ruellioides were determined to be floristically noteworthy because of their limited distribution. The naturalized plants accounted for 31.7％ of the total wild plants found on the island. The present report also includes a list of 63 species that have previously been reported but have not been observed in this survey, neither in the fieldwork nor in the three herbaria that we inspected （RYU, TNS and URO）., 紀要論文

Yabuchi-jima Island is a small island close to eastern coast of Katsuren (Yokatsu) Peninsula of Okinawa Island．The vascular flora of Yabuchi-jima Island was studied to gather data which serves as a basis for nature education in remote islands．A total of 353 species, one subspecies, two varieties, and two forms of vascular plants of 96 families were observed in the wild state on the island, of which 242 species, one subspecies, two varieties, and one form were native．Among all identified species, Aster miyagii and Amitostigma lepidum were determined to be floristically noteworthy species because of their limited distributions．The distribution range of Aster miyagii was extended southwards to this island in particular. Dodonaea viscosa, which has been recorded in 1988, was not found on the island．The naturalized plants accounted for 31.3 percent of the total wild plants found on the island．, 紀要論文
