8. A Context-Aware Self-Adaptive Fractal Based Generalized Pedagogical Agent Framework for Mobile Learning

Abstract

The Pedagogical Agents (PAs) for Mobile Learning (m-learning) must be able not only to adapt the teaching to the learner knowledge level and profile but also to ensure the pedagogical efficiency within unpredictable changing runtime contexts. Therefore, to deal with this issue, this paper proposes a Context-aware Self-Adaptive Fractal Component based Generalized Pedagogical Agent (CASA FBGPA) framework for Mobile Learning. The proposed framework allows for the construction of PA that self-reconfigures its structure, the functional part, to conform to the unpredictable changing runtime context. To carry out the context-awareness, the PA embeds a distinct Search based Adapting Engine that dynamically monitors and assembles the appropriate linear combination of Fractal components. In addition, to avoid the rules associated conceptual holes, to deal with the conflicting objectives and to reduce the substantial overhead, the components selection is formulated as a multiobjective problem and it is tackled using a metaheuristic search method. Furthermore, to evaluate the design and the feasibility of the proposed framework, a use case and a discussion are provided.

This paper aim to outline an abstract template of theoretical framework for diagnosis and recovery of hierarchical multi-agent plans to deal with the plans execution exceptions. We propose a recovery policy based on the runtime diagnosis of resources and task failure. To this end, we take advantage of the ability to reason (using the formalism Hierarchical-Plan-Net-with-Synchronization, or SHPlNet) on the abstract tasks interaction and interference in order to localize the recovering region in the global plan.

Abstract

In the near future, our homes will be equipped with many sensors, actuators and devices able to smartly interact in order to offer complex services providing even richer functionalities. Among the general population, those most likely to benefit from the development of these systems are the elderly and dependent people who wish to continue living independently in their home as opposed to being forced to live in a hospital. However, today’s systems are mainly based on ad hoc and proprietary solutions. To cope with the ad-hoc nature of smart home systems design process while taking into account both dimensions of time and space, it is required to use a suitable formal model that is able to handle smart home domain specific nature. This paper proposes an approach that uses reference nets to model a smart home which is sensitive, adaptive and responsive to elderly’s presence, needs and preferences.

Abstract

the extraction of terms is an important step in building a resource for indexing and many powerful tools are available for several languages. This complex process, which identifies candidate terms may become indexes for annotations or documents, is often subject to the problem of lack of relevance of calculated terms. Consequently, the extraction of terminology from the texts must be strong and solid to handle the errors and suggest better results, without encumbering the user with too many proposals of indexes. It is, in this perspective that we propose here a new indexing approach based on a hybrid model of terminologies extraction using a filtering by elimination terms and which operates on a corpus of annotated images with legends .

Abstract

In this paper we present an approach based on software components for developing distributed applications, we use mobile agents as connectors between components to support the execution of the composition (assembly). We use also mobile agents to verify the validity of compositions to achieve the functionality provided by the application. We treat the validity of the components composition in a functional point of view and a structural point of view, in the first one we propose a fuzzy axiomatic semantics of a concurrent programming language to measure to what degree the behavior resulting from the expected composition will satisfy the expected functionality from the application. In the second point we treat a structural point of view related to the dynamics of the network environment, in this point we use mobile agents to ensure structural validity criteria.

Abstract

This paper focuses on the approach inherent to human learning systems which aims to bring logistical supports to the learning process. Our main concern is to improve this approach which does not fully meet the needs of the entire community of learners. Therefore, our proposed approach includes the learners of the educational system and those who want to upgrade their competences (learning throughout life). In this paper, we present on one hand, the gaps identified in the pedagogical approach of existing learning systems, on the other hand, we pass in review the computing support improvements to these systems. At the end, we propose an architecture of a learning system meeting these objectives.
