Investigating the effects of the special education support program (SESP) and visual-praxis-based occupational therapy program (VPBOTP) on visual perception skills of children with developmental dyslexia (DD). A time-series quasi-experimental design with two stages was used. The first stage included visual perception assessments of children with DD who were registered to the SESP, using MVPT-3. Following the assessments, SESP was implemented for a total of 16 hours in the span of 8 weeks. In the second stage, MVPT-3 was administered for a second time, SESP's implementation continued for another 16 hours and VPBOTP was implemented also for a total of 32 hours in the span of 8 weeks. Finally, the MVPT-3 was administered for the third time. VPBOTP was found to be statistically more effective than SESP in improving visual perception skills (p<0.05). VPBOTP offers a different, individualizable, and flexible approach for improving visual perception skills of children with DD and its usage can be widened to other populations.

This study aims to examine the reliability and validity of the Turkish version of Body Attitude Test among women with breast cancer. The study included 101 voluntary women with breast cancer stage 1, 2 or 3 from different regions of Turkey. The Turkish versions of Body Attitude Test, Body Shape Questionnaire and Eating Attitudes Test were applied twice with a 7- day interval. The test demonstrated high test-retest reliability (Intra-class Correlation Coefficient = 0.95) with a good internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.82; McDonald's omega = 0.89) for all domains. The confirmatory factor analysis resulted in 4 factor structures and at an acceptable good fit-in with x.sup.2/df for BAT. The Body Attitude Test correlated strongly with the Body Shape Questionnaire and Eating Attitudes Test (p < 0.05). The results support the Turkish version of the test is a valid and reliable instrument that can be used to measure the body attitude of women with breast cancer. To compare participation patterns, environmental supports, and barriers to community activities in adolescents with and without attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in Turkey. Participants were 94 adolescents with ADHD and 109 adolescents without ADHD ages 13-17 years (mean age 14.6, S.D 1.49 years) Participation frequency, involvement rate, mothers who desired change, and environmental supports and barriers in a community setting were assessed with the Participation and Environment Measure for Children and Youth (PEM-CY). Adolescents with ADHD participated 20.3% less frequently in socializing with peers in the community than adolescents without ADHD. With moderate to large effect sizes, the mean involvement rate in four community activities, including neighborhood outings, community events, socializing with peers in the community, and religious activities, was significantly lower for adolescents with ADHD than for adolescents without ADHD. Adolescents with ADHD participate less frequently and are less involved in socializing with peers in the community. Almost half of all ADHD adolescents never participate in community events. Purpose: This study investigated the combined effects of mirror therapy involving power and strength exercises of the upper extremities in children with Unilateral Spastic Cerebral Palsy (USCP). Methods: Thirty children were included in either an experimental group or a control group. All participants were evaluated with the Quality of Upper Extremity Skill Test (QUEST), Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM), and a handheld dynamometer to measure isometric muscle strength. Results: Compared to the control group, greater improvement was found in dissociated movements (p <.001, d = 1.82), grasp (p <.001, d = 1.38), weight bearing (p =.006, d = 0.91), and total scores (p =.001, d = 1.16) of QUEST; performance (p <.001, d = 2.9), satisfaction (p <.001, d = 1.91), and total scores (p <.001, d = 2.87) of COPM; and isometric muscle strength of the biceps brachii (p <.001, d = 1.27) and triceps brachii (p =.002, d = 2.22) of the affected upper limbs in the experimental group. Conclusions: Mirror therapy combined with power and strength exercises is a promising intervention approach to improve activity performance and upper-limb function in children with USCP.
