The aim of this study was to present the synthesis, characterization, and investigation of the antiproliferative activity of new metal N-Heterocyclic Carbene (NHC) salts (1a-c) and their Ag(I) complexes (2a-c). All synthesized compounds were characterized using elemental analysis, LC-MS, FT-IR,H- 1 NMR, and C-13 NMR spectroscopy techniques. Salts and complexes were tested for antiproliferative activities on human breast and prostate cancer cell lines (MCF-7, MDA-MB-23, DU-145) and L-929 normal cells for 24 h, 48 h and 72 h using MTT assays. The Ag(I)-NHC complexes (2a c) showed dose and time-dependent cytotoxic activity against all cell lines. MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 human breast carcinoma cells were the most sensitive to displaying IC50 lower than 1 mu M at all time points for 2a and 2b complexes respectively. The IC(50)s for Ag(I)-NHC were higher in normal cells especially compared to the breast cancer cells, suggesting that complexes possessed noteworthy selectivity for human breast cancer cells. Complex 2a showed high selectivity (>= 13-fold) for MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells at all time points. These results also demonstrated that complex 2b has 4-7-fold selectivity against MCF-7 breast cancer cells. (C) 2019 Published by Elsevier B.V.

For this purpose, a new series ruthenium (II) complexes bearing N-coordinated benzimidazole complexes with have been synthesized and fully characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, H-1 NMR and, C-13 NMR spectroscopies. Additionally, the structures of the complexes 2b and 2c have been confirmed by X-ray crystallography. Although the N-alkylating reaction is usually performed in toluene, the catalytic study of complexes 2a-d has carried out no additional solvent and alcohol acted both as solvent and reactant of alkylating by using a little excess of alcohols. Surprisingly, conversion and selectivity of amine product for alkylation reaction have been seen high in medium solvent-free relative to in toluene.

WOS: 000321737700033, Three resorcinarene-cavitands bearing a 3-R-1-imidazolylium substituent (R = alkyl) grafted to the wider rim of the cavitand (1-3) were assessed in the Kumada-Tamao-Corriu cross-coupling of aryl halides with arylmagnesium halides. Their combination with [Ni(cod)(2)] (cod = 1,5-cyclooctadiene; 1:1 stoichiometry) resulted in highly efficient catalysts, the activities of which varied in the following order: R = n-propyl (1) < isopropyl (2) approximate to benzyl (3). A remarkable turnover frequency of 60400 mol(ArX) mol(Ni)(-1) h(-1) was obtained in the coupling of 2-bromo-6-methoxynaphthalene with PhMgBr (100 degrees C in dioxane, with precursor 2). The high activities of the cavitand derivatives were attributed to steric effects that facilitate the reductive-elimination/product decoordination step. Comparative experiments carried out with a structurally modified resorcinarene, as well as cavity-free imidazolium salts bearing 2-methoxyaryl substituents, suggest that the efficiency of the catalysts mainly relies on steric interactions between the metal and the flexible substituents attached to two methine carbon atoms. WOS: 000466789300011, The aim of this study was to present the synthesis, characterization and anticancer activities of two novel benzimidazole-based NHC salts (1a-b) and their silver(I) complexes (2a-b) with methylbenzyl and isopropylbenzyl chains. All compounds were prepared using Schlenk techniques in an inert atmosphere. The carbene complexes were prepared with the interaction of carbene precursors and Ag2O. All new compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, LC-MS, FT-IR, H-1 NMR, and C-13 NMR spectroscopic techniques. The anticancer activities of the salts and complexes were determined by cell proliferation analysis using (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay on human prostate cancer cells (DU-145) and human breast cancer cells (MCF-7, MDA-MB-231). L-929, mouse adipose tissue fibroblasts were used as model normal cells. The cells were plated at a cell density of 1 x 10(5) cells in 96-well plates and treated with different concentrations (1-20 mu M) of salts and complexes during 24, 48 and 72 h. The MTT assay results indicated that the salts (1a-b) have lower anticancer activity on cancer cells than their silver(I) complexes (2a-b). It was also observed that benzimidazole salts (1a-b) and their Ag-NHC complexes (2a-b) displayed lower anticancer activities on L-929 normal cells than on cancer cells. WOS: 000318240600013, Three imidazolium salts based on a rigid resorcinarene platform (13) were synthesised and used as catalyst precursors in the SuzukiMiyaura cross-coupling of aryl halides with phenylboronic acid. In these pro-carbene ligands, the heterocyclic moiety has one N atom connected to a C2 atom of a resorcinolic ring, and the other is substituted by an alkyl group (R=n-propyl, iso-propyl, benzyl). The methinic C atoms of the macrocyclic core are all substituted by a pentyl group. The best catalytic performances were obtained by using an imidazolium/Pd ratio of 1:1. A single crystal X-ray diffraction study was carried out for 1, which revealed a centrosymmetric complex with the nickel centre placed in an octahedral coordination environment. WOS: 000450377600023, N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) have been known to be efficient ligands for the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling. In this work, four novel 2-methyl-2-propenyl substituted N-heterocyclic carbene ligands (1a-d) were synthesized and they were used to produce four novel air-stable PEPPSI-type palladium-NHC complexes (2a-d). All of the new compounds were fully characterized by elemental analysis, H-1, C-13 NMR and FT-IR spectroscopies. In addition, prepared complexes (2a-d) were investigated as catalysts in the Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction under very mild conditions using a mixture of i-PrOH/water as a solvent and a base at the room temperature. This synopsis presents recent amination methods using nitrogen-heteroatom bonds as a powerful and versatile platform to rapidly synthesize diverse aminoarenes, with transition-metal catalyzed arene C-H amination. The Buchwald-Hartwig amination has been investigated theoretically and experimentally to examine the scope of possible bases under different reaction conditions. We report examples of the palladium NHC (N-heterocyclic carbene) catalyzed amination of aryl halides with anilines and amines in the presence of dimethoxyethane solvent and potassium tertiary-butoxide as a base.
