Internationalization of higher education (IHE) has become one of the most prominent strategies in national policies and universities' agendas during the past three decades. IHE provides numerous benefits to nations, institutions, and higher education stakeholders and plays a vital role in improving the quality of education and research. However, it is difficult to argue that all countries equally benefit from IHE; that is, power inequalities between countries in the world are reflected in universities' efforts and outcomes regarding internationalization. To analyse the effects of national boundaries on IHE, this article presents qualitative research conducted in two European countries: Poland and Turkey. Thirty-six semi-structured interviews were conducted with international office professionals. The results revealed that IHE in Poland and Turkey, as examples of peripheral countries in terms of IHE, is restricted by political instability, economic impotency and socio-cultural legacies. These factors lead to a nation-bounded internationalization experience for higher education institutions and individual stakeholders in both countries. The results also revealed some differences between the two countries and it is argued that decentralized internationalization strategies designed based on nations' unique characteristics are needed to drive the progressive values of IHE forward.

The internationalization of higher education (IHE) has become a key policy issue for governments, a research field for scholars, a strategic priority for universities, and a career orientation for administrative staff. Yet, with recent social, political, and economic trends heavily embellished by globalization and neoliberalism, the term IHE has resulted in conflicting perspectives. Although there are numerous analyses on IHE, these analyses seldom focus on conflicts among different constituencies of the university (leaders, academics, administrative staff). This study aims at exploring the perspectives of key constituencies on the common conception and practice of IHE. The study was designed as basic qualitative research in which the data set was collected from four flagship universities in Türkiye. The results indicated a variety of academic, economic, political, and socio-cultural conflicts by different constituencies. These conflicts are mostly related to the association of IHE with neoliberal values while the progressive values remain invisible.

Mass housing played an important role in changing the face of the cities. The Municipality Law No.5393 which gave the right to municipalities to build mass housing were factors that have accelerated the mass housing production. The main goal of local administrations is to build houses in the most rapid and economic way for group of people with low income. However, such production has posed problems in terms of quantity and quality. This research has been conducted to measure the satisfaction levels of users from mass housing projects which are implemented under the leadership of the municipality in Konya. The existing residences in the area selected for the project were demolished swiftly and then mass housing was again built swiftly. Determining how the users in the region are affected by this change and their satisfaction with this matter is one of the main goals of this study. A scale was created by scanning the housing satisfaction parameters in the literature for the purpose of this study. In order to find out the satisfaction with the physical space, 5 mass housing areas, which share similarity in terms of settlement texture density and housing typology, were selected as sample study area from the 22 projects built by the district municipality. In the satisfaction and space analysis, user satisfaction in the mass housing projects produced by the municipality was examined together with the demographic findings. Chemotherapy is a potent tool against cancer, but drug resistance remains a major obstacle. To combat this, understanding the molecular mechanisms behind resistance in cancer cells and the protein expression changes driving these mechanisms is crucial. Targeting the Ubiquitin-Proteasome System (UPS) has proven effective in treating multiple myeloma and shows promise for solid tumours. Despite initial success with the proteasome inhibitor bortezomib, acquired resistance soon after treatment poses a significant challenge to its efficacy. In this study, we explored proteins potentially involved in acquired resistance to bortezomib using label-free nLC-MS/MS proteomic analysis. The investigation revealed 299 proteins with notable differences in expression levels in the bortezomib-resistant PC3 prostate cancer cell line. Using bioinformatics tools, we illustrated the top 10 gene ontology (GO) processes [e.g., translational initiation (p = 5.964E-10), CRD-mediated mRNA stabilisation (p = 1.636E-5), and hydrogen ion transmembrane transport (p = 6.46E-5)] and the top 20 KEGG [e.g., metabolic pathways (p = 7.601E-13), biosynthesis of amino acids (p = 3.834E-12), and chemical carcinogenesis-reactive oxygen species (p = 1.891E-4)] and REACTOME [e.g., metabolism (p = 4.182E-21), translation (p = 9.484E-18), and Nonsense-Mediated Decay (NMD) (p = 1.829E-8)] pathways in the PC3-resistant cells. We further refined our results by comparing them with globally validated TCGA datasets. We correlated the 299 proteins identified through proteomic analysis with tumour aggressiveness and resistance by comparing them with the TCGA nodal metastasis N0 vs. N1 datasets using the UALCAN portal and identified 37 proteins consistent with our results. We believe that a combination of bortezomib with chemotherapeutics targeting these proteins could be effective in overcoming the resistance developed against bortezomib., (© 2025 The Author(s).
