Genel bir tanımlama ile insanların temel ihtiyaçlarını karşılayamama durumunu ifade eden yoksulluk, hanehalkı özellikleri, eğitim, cinsiyet vb. mikroekonomik; büyüme, enflasyon, işsizlik, gelir eşitsizliği vb. makroekonomik belirleyicileri olan bir kavramdır. Çalışmanın amacı, yoksulluğun belirleyicilerden makroekonomik belirleyicilerin yoksulluk ile ilişkisini test etmektir. 2009-2018 dönemi için 13 üst orta gelirli ülkede makroekonomik performans göstergelerinin yoksulluğa etkisi sistem GMM dinamik panel veri analiz yöntemi ile test edilmiştir. Bağımsız değişken olarak kullanılan ekonomik büyüme, enflasyon, işsizlik ve gelir eşitsizliği makroekonomik performans göstergeleri olarak belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre, makroekonomik göstergelerden kişi başına GSYH arttıkça yoksulluk azalmakta, işsizlik ve gelir eşitsizliği arttıkça yoksulluk artmakta, enflasyonun ise yoksulluk üzerinde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir etkisi yoktur.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of economic development on democracy with the data for the period 2001-2016 in 24 emerging market economies. This article develops a new methodology and analyzes the impact of openness, economic, social and financial development indicators on the level of democracy. We used the panel-ordered qualitative preference analysis method to estimate the relationship between democracy and economic development. We have concluded that economic development is more effective at higher levels of democracy and is higher likely to affect the higher level of democracy. We have shown that economic development raises the level of democracy., Bu çalışmanın amacı, 24 yükselen piyasa ekonomisi için 2001-2016 dönemine ait veriler ile ekonomik kalkınmanın demokrasi üzerindeki etkisini araştırmaktır. Bu makale yeni bir metodoloji geliştirir ve dışa açıklık, ekonomik, sosyal ve finansal kalkınma göstergelerinin demokrasi düzeyine etkisini analiz eder. Demokrasi ve ekonomik kalkınma arasındaki ilişkiyi tahmin etmek için panel sıralı nitel tercih analiz yöntemini kullandık. Ekonomik kalkınmanın demokrasinin yüksek düzeylerinde daha etkili ve yüksek demokrasi düzeyini etkileme olasılığının daha yüksek olduğu sonucunu elde ettik. Ekonomik kalkınmanın demokrasi düzeyini yükselttiğini gösterdik.

Günümüzde ekonomik kalkınma sadece nicel olarak değil nitel olarak da tanımlanan bir kavramdır. Bu anlamda nitel bir kavram olan mutluluk da ekonomik kalkınmayla ilişkilendirilen önemli bir konu olmaya başlamıştır. Kalkınmanın bir göstergesi olan mutluluğun Dünya Mutluluk Endeksi, Gayri Safi Milli Mutluluk, Küresel Mutluluk Endeksi, Mutlu Gezegen Endeksi ve Daha İyi Yaşam Endeksi gibi ölçüm yöntemleri vardır ve mutluluğun demokrasi ile olan ilişkisi literatürde araştırılan bir konu olmuştur. Bu kapsamda çalışmanın amacı, demokrasinin mutluluk düzeyine etkisini BRIC (Brezilya, Rusya, Hindistan, Çin) ve yeni yükselen ekonomiler olarak bilinen MIST (Meksika, Endonezya, Güney Kore, Türkiye) ülkelerinin tamamı olarak 8 ülke için 2013-2018 dönemine ait veriler ile panel sıralı nitel tercih yöntemini kullanarak araştırmaktır. Araştırma sonucuna göre demokrasinin mutluluğun yüksek düzeylerinde daha etkili ve yüksek mutluluk düzeyini etkileme olasılığının daha yüksek olduğu sonucu elde edilmiştir.

Corruption, defined as “abuse of public power for private interests” is a concept with economic, political, legal and socio-cultural determinants. Measurement of corruption, which differs from country to country, is not possible, but perception of corruption can be measured. The purpose of the study is to test only the determinants of the economic determinants' relationship with corruption. In this context, the impact of macroeconomic performance indicators on corruption in APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation) countries for the period of 2001-2017 was analyzed by the panel-ordered qualitative preference method. Macroeconomic performance indicators are determined as growth, inflation, unemployment, income inequality and openness, and the openness variable is defined by the commercial globalization index. Corruption perception index is dependent variable and the highest value of the index is 0 and the lowest value is 10. Since the corruption perception index used as a dependent variable is an ordered variable, ordered qualitative preference models are used. According to the findings obtained as a result of econometric analysis, as the per capita GDP and commercial globalization index increases, the corruption index also increases, in other words, the corruption decreases. As the inflation rate and Gini coefficient (income inequality) increase, the corruption index decreases and corruption increases. As the unemployment rate increases, the corruption index first increases (corruption decreases), then decreases (corruption increases). It is concluded that macroeconomic performance indicators are more effective at lower levels of corruption and is higher likely to effect the lower level of corruption. Therefore, it has been revealed that corruption will decrease in countries that can increase the income level and reduce the unemployment by ensuring its fair distribution, increase the degree of integration with the world economy and keep the inflation rate low., “Kamu gücünün özel çıkarlar için kötüye kullanılması” olarak tanımlanan yolsuzluk ekonomik, politik, hukuki ve sosyo-kültürel belirleyicileri olan bir kavramdır. Ülkeden ülkeye farklılık gösteren yolsuzluğun ölçümü ise pek mümkün olmamakla birlikte yolsuzluk algı ölçümü yapılabilmektedir. Çalışmanın amacı söz konusu belirleyicilerden yalnızca ekonomik belirleyicilerin yolsuzluk ile ilişkisini test etmektir. Bu kapsamda 2001-2017 dönemi için APEC (Asya Pasifik Ekonomik İşbirliği) ülkelerinde makroekonomik performans göstergelerinin yolsuzluğa etkisi panel sıralı nitel tercih yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Makroekonomik performans göstergeleri büyüme, enflasyon, işsizlik, gelir eşitsizliği ve dışa açıklık olarak belirlenmiş, dışa açıklık değişkeni ticari küreselleşme endeksi ile tanımlanmıştır. Yolsuzluk algı endeksi bağımlı değişkendir ve endeksin en yüksek değeri 0, en düşük değeri 10’dur. Bağımlı değişken olarak kullanılan yolsuzluk algılama endeksi sıralı bir değişken olduğu için sıralı nitel tercih modelleri kullanılmıştır. Ekonometrik analizler sonucu elde edilen bulgulara göre kişi başına GSYH ve ticari küreselleşme endeksi arttıkça yolsuzluk endeks değeri de artmakta, diğer bir ifadeyle yolsuzluk azalmaktadır. Enflasyon oranı ve Gini katsayısı (gelir eşitsizliği) arttıkça yolsuzluk endeks değeri azalmakta, yolsuzluk artmaktadır. İşsizlik oranı arttıkça yolsuzluk endeks değeri önce artmakta (yolsuzluk azalmakta), sonra azalmaktadır (yolsuzluk artmakta). Çalışmada makroekonomik performans göstergelerinin yolsuzluğun düşük düzeylerinde daha etkili ve düşük yolsuzluk düzeyini etkileme olasılığının ise daha yüksek olduğu sonucu elde edilmiştir. Dolayısıyla gelir seviyesini artırabilen ve bunun adil dağıtımını sağlayarak işsizliği azaltan, dünya ekonomisi ile entegrasyon derecesini yükselten ve enflasyon oranını düşük tutabilen ülkelerde yolsuzluğun da düşeceği ortaya koyulmuştur.

Ekonomiler, sürdürülebilir ekonomik büyüme ve gelişmelerini gerçekleştirebilmek için, ödemeler dengesi açıklarına dikkat etmek durumundadırlar. Bir ülkenin cari işlemler açıkları bakımından risk taşıması, cari ekonomi politikasının hali hazırda ve gelecekte sürdürülebilirlik noktasında sorunlu olduğunun göstergesi olarak değerlendirilebilir. Cari işlemler açığının sürdürülebilirliği, zamanlararası bütçe kısıtına bağlı olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Söz konusu dış bütçe kısıtına göre, dış dünyadan elde edilen gelirler ile dış âleme yapılan ödemelerin izleyeceği yol, zamanlararası geri ödeme yeteneği koşulunu belirlemektedir. Eğer bu iki değişken arasında uzun dönem denge ilişkisi mevcut değilse, zamanlararası bütçe kısıtı sağlanmaz. Bu çalışmanın amacı, 2005Q1-2014Q4 dönemi için Orta Asya Türk Ülkeleri ve Türkiye’nin zamanlararası geri ödeme yeteneği koşulunu sağlayıp sağlamadığını belirlemektir. Bu çalışmada, söz konusu Avrasya ekonomilerinin cari işlemler dengesi açısından potansiyel risk taşıyıp taşımadığı incelenmiştir., Economies should pay attention to the deficits of the balance of payments in order to achieve a sustainable economic growth and development. According to the budget constraints, the path of outlays to the external world with revenues obtained from abroad determines intertemporal solvency contidion. If there is no long-run equilibrium relationship between these two variables, intertemporal budget constaint will not be provided. The aim of this study is to determine whether it satisfies the intertemporal solvency condition of Euorasian economies for the period 2005Q1-2014Q4. In this study , it is examined that carries potantieal risk in terms of the current account balance of the Euroasian economies.

Intra industry trade is goods and services with the same or similar factor intensity in production or, two-way trade of goods and services that are close substitutes for each other as the demand side. There are two main categories of intra-industry trade: horizontal and vertical intra-industry trade. Intra-industry trade in similar products with differentiated varieties is horizontal intra-industry trade, the intra-industry trade of differentiated goods, which differ in terms of quality and price, is vertical intra trade. The main objectives of this paper are to explain the extent of vertical and horizontal intra-industry trade in the Turkey’s foreign trade with the world in the selected manufacturing industry sectors. İn this study, using Abd-el-Rahman (1991) and Hine, Greenaway and Milner(1995) approach of Intra-ındustry trade decomposition methods has been analyzed the extent and development of vertical and horizontal intra-industry trade In the selected manufacturing industry sub-sectors between Turkey and The World for the period 2010:01-2016:11 by unit value indices.

It has been revealed both in the theoretical and the applied studies that the trade of goods in the traditional foreign trade theories reflects the prosperity indicators of the countries such as economic growth and employment positively. In the 1970s, especially with the developments on financial globalization, the foreign trade structure has started to evolve, and the service trade has started to become more and more important or weighted. While the literature on competitiveness is related to the commodity trade, it is noteworthy that there are more limited studies on the results and suggestions of the competition power in service trade. In this study Balassa’s (1965) RCA (Revealed Comparative Advantages) approach was used to determine Turkey's competitive power on service trade. In this context, Turkey has tried to measure competition power against the world in each service sub sector related to the classification of traditional service sector such as tourism and transportation and other service sectors (telecommunication, financial services, insurance etc.) which are defined as modern services sector. It is analyzed with using annual data between 1980 and 2015 obtained from the UNCTAD. According to findings the competitive power in the tourism sector with traditional services is stronger in Turkey. This can be seen generally disadvantageous in the transportation sector, but there has been some increase in competition power since 2009. On the other hand, in the field of other service sectors expressed as modern services, it is concluded that there is no competitive power and it is highly disadvantaged.

In terms of Intra-industry trade, international investments, technology transfer and capital movements, has increased the interdependence of countries and increasingly have similar economic structures of countries. Intra-industry trade, is of goods and services with the same or similar factor intensity in production or, two-way trade of goods and services that are close substitutes for each other as the demand side. Intra-industry trade, is extremely important in terms of the determination of competitive aspects and of foreign exchange earnings of the country and industry. The aim of this study is to determine the level of intra-industry trade between Turkey and The Turkic Central Asian countries and productive product and sectors to be advantageous in Turkey's intra-industry trade. In this study, Using The Balassa and Grubel-Lloyd index of Intra-ındustry trade measurement methods will be analyzed the development of intra-industry trade between Turkey and The Turkic Central Asian countries for the period 1995-2013 and highly competitive industry and products will be determined on the basis of foreign trade data in STIC 9 digit.

However, chronic external deficit problems have been encountered since the adoption of the outward-oriented growth model. The purpose of this study is to test the hypothesis of twin deficits for period 1980-2009 in Turkish economy. In this context, the relationship between budget deficits and current account deficits have been examined theoretically. And the direction of this relationship has been analyzed empirically by means of the VAR Granger causality test and regression analysis. The findings reveal that there is in fact a causality relationship from the budget deficits towards current account deficits.

This paper examines the relationship between the aggregate electricity consumption, the sub-components of electricity consumption (industrial electricity consumption, residential and commercial, government offices and street illuminations) and real gross domestic product by means of a structural VAR model for the Turkish economy. The main purpose of the paper is to examine the impact of the aggregate electricity consumption innovations and the sub-components of electricity consumption innovations on real gross domestic product. The impact of real gross domestic product innovations on the aggregate electricity consumption and the sub-components of electricity energy consumption is also analyzed. Both the structural factorization results and impulse-response functions show that aggregate electricity consumption shocks and the sub-components shocks of electricity consumption has not fluctuate real gross domestic product, while real gross domestic product innovations affect the total electrical energy consumption and the sub-components of electricity consumption.
