The carbon footprint is one of the most important tools for monitoring greenhouse gas emissions and guiding decarbonization strategies and actions at any scale. This work consists of a literature synthesis based on meta-analysis to understand the logic of the carbon footprint of agri-food products. The literature search was carried out from 2009 to 2023 and after an initial search and review, a total of 154 articles were found. Most of this work was carried out in Europe, accounting for 42%. In terms of agricultural products, milk was the most studied animal product. For crop-based products, vegetable oils and vegetable crops were the main crops subject to carbon footprint calculations. From a methodological point of view, the life cycle assessment is the most widely used approach, especially for products of animal origin. For these products, it was found that the off-farm average (0.69 ± 0.79 Kg CO2 eq/FU) is significantly lower than the on-farm average (3.02 ± 3.18 Kg CO2 eq/FU). On the other hand, correlation analysis could not establish a relationship between production factors and carbon footprint. For plant products, the industrial part generates a more important footprint (65.2 Kg CO2eq/FU ± 70.9) than the agricultural part (20.0 Kg CO2eq/FU ± 18.8). In the agricultural part, nitrogen and phosphate fertilization contribute significantly to the carbon footprint (r=0.36 and 0.55 respectively). For the industrial part, electricity contributes to the carbon footprint with a significant correlation of 0.52. Created in 2006, the M'cissi Animal Reserve is dedicated to the reintroduction of the Scimitar oryx, Dama Gazelle and Dorcas Gazelle. The current study aims to analyze the ecological feasibility of releasing Scimitar oryx into the M'cissi Site of Biological and Ecological Interest (SIBE) and its surroundings. An ecological assessment was conducted to evaluate the environmental potential for releasing antelope populations, along with an evaluation within the reserve (3 728 hectares) to understand the interactions between vegetation cover and antelope populations. Using a random stratified design of 100 plots (with a 10-meter radius), the evaluation of pastoral resources and the estimation of carrying capacity in the SIBE and the animal reserve were carried out through a combined method. The antelope populations in the reserve were surveyed using transect methods and characterized based on age structure, sex ratio, and spatial distribution. A systematic layout of 58 plots was established within the reserve to assess antelope interactions with vegetation cover. Out of the 36 plots, the study of the impact of animals on Acacia raddiana trees revealed pressure in the form of rubbing, with an average degree of damage at 14.2 %. The results confirm the ecological feasibility of a potential release due to suitable hosting capacities. Eight vegetation types were identified, producing a phytomass per type ranging from 32,144 kg to 820,698 kg dry matter. The total forage production determined for the SIBE and the animal reserve, including herbaceous and shrub layers, amounts to approximately 2,164,202 kg dry matter. The reserve can accommodate 279 Scimitar oryx or 760 Dama gazelles or 1584 Dorcas gazelles or 540 ostriches. Based on the findings of this assessment, a draft management and development plan for the animal reserve has been proposed. Le présent travail consiste à analyser la faisabilité écologique d’un lâcher libre de l’Oryx algazelle, dans le Site d'Intérêt Biologique et Écologique (SIBE) de M’cissi et ses environs. Un diagnostic écologique a permis d’évaluer les potentialités du milieu en regard des effectifs d’antilopes à lâcher, en plus d’un diagnostic au sein de la réserve (3 728 ha) pour appréhender les interactions couvert végétal/populations d’antilopes conservées. Selon un dispositif stratifié aléatoire de 100 placettes (10 m de rayon), l’évaluation des ressources pastorales et l’estimation de la charge d’équilibre dans le SIBE et la réserve animalière, a été effectuée moyennant la méthode combinée. Les populations d’antilopes de la réserve ont été recensées par un dispositif en transects et caractérisées selon la structure d’âge, le sex-ratio et l’occupation de l’espace. Un dispositif systématique de 58 placettes a été établi dans la réserve afin d’évaluer les interactions des antilopes avec le couvert végétal. Sur 36 placettes, l’étude de l’impact des animaux sur les arbres d’Acacia raddiana montre une pression sous forme de frottis, avec un degré d’attaque moyen de 14,2 %. Les résultats affirment la faisabilité écologique d’un éventuel lâcher grâce à des potentialités adéquates d’accueil. The present study consists in comparing three methods of quantifying the vegetation cover: Intercept point method, Simple quadratic points method and the combined method, at the level of eight silvopastoral ecosystems of Morocco.  The objective of this study is to find a method that objectively and more reliably approaches the cover of vegetation at the level of Mediterranean multi-strata pastoral ecosystems. To do this, we compared the results of these three methods, applying them to species cover measures for each ecosystem and for all ecosystems, stratum cover for each ecosystem, and for all ecosystems and the overall cover of all strata. The investigation method, which concerns eight natural ecosystems spread over the regions of Essaouira, Maâmora, Tendrara and Adrej, is based on the stratification of vegetation from satellite images. In each stratum, an inventory of the vegetation and the station’s factors was made simultaneously by the same methods. The analysis of the data was done by the Factorial Correspondence Analysis (AFC) to characterize the typology of the targeted ecosystems in question, highlighting the relations between these ecosystems and the ecological factors which prevail there. Then, through the application of an independence test, One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA1) and multiple analysis of variance (ANOVAM), we were able to compare the efficiency of these three methods, the results of which differ according to the structure of the vegetation. For the species (herbaceous and shrub species) considered at the level of each ecosystem and at the level of all the ecosystems, the results differ from one method to another. It is the same for the strata considered individually. For all ecosystems, the analysis of coverings of the herbaceous stratum shows no difference for the three methods; on the other hand, for shrub coverings, the combined method differs from the other two methods. Based on the overall cover, we have shown that the combined, La présente étude consiste à comparer trois méthodes de quantification du recouvrement de la végétation: Méthode du point d’interception, Méthode des points quadrats simples et la méthode combinée, au niveau de huit écosystèmes sylvopastoraux du Maroc. L’objectif de cette étude consiste à trouver une méthode qui approche d’une manière objective et plus fiable le recouvrement de la végétation au niveau des écosystèmes pastoraux multi-strates méditerranéens. Pour se faire, nous avons procédé à une comparaison des résultats de ces trois méthodes, en les appliquant aux mesures du recouvrement par espèce pour chaque écosystème et pour l’ensemble des écosystèmes, du recouvrement par strate pour chaque écosystème et pour l’ensemble des écosystèmes et du recouvrement global de l’ensemble des strates. La méthode d’investigation qui concerne huit écosystèmes naturels, répartis sur les régions d’Essaouira, Maâmora, Tendrara et Aderj, est fondée sur la stratification de la végétation à partir des images satellitaires. Dans chaque strate, un inventaire de la végétation et du milieu a été effectué simultanément par les mêmes méthodes. L’analyse des données a été opérée par l’AFC pour caractériser la typologie des écosystèmes en question, mettant en évidence les relations entre ces écosystèmes et les facteurs écologiques qui y règnent. Ensuite, par l’application d’un test d’indépendance, de l’ANOVA1 et de l’ANOVAM, nous avons pu comparer l’efficience de ces trois méthodes dont les résultats ci-après, diffèrent selon la structure de la végétation. Pour les espèces (herbacées et arbustives) considérées au niveau de chaque écosystème et au niveau de tous les écosystèmes, les résultats diffèrent d’une méthode à l’autre. Aromatic and medicinal plants (AMP) as natural resources constitute an important pillar of the (rural) economy of our country. The objective of this study is to inventory the main forest-related PAMs in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region through a documentary analysis and field observations. The results show that the region is characterized by forest richness covering 27% of its area, of which 18.5% is natural forests. The AMP inventoried are 173 species belonging to 52 families with the most important being the Lamiaceae, Asteraceae and Fabaceae. Plants of medicinal interest represent 79.2% of the plants inventoried. Awareness of the importance of AMP in the daily life of the population of the region through their therapeutic virtues and their contribution to the economy could lead to their protection and conservation. Les résultats montrent que la région est caractérisée par une richesse forestière couvrant 27% de sa superficie, dont 18,5% l’est par des forêts naturelles. Les PAM inventoriées sont de 173 espèces appartenant à 52 familles dont les plus importantes sont les Lamiacées, Astéracées et Fabacées. Les plantes d’intérêt médicinal représentent 79,2% des plantes inventoriées. La prise de conscience de l’importance des PAM dans la vie quotidienne des populations de la région à travers leurs vertus thérapeutiques et leur contribution dans l’économie pourrait conduire à leur protection et leur conservation. Les nouvelles stratégies de développement agricoles et forestières accordent de plus en plus d’attention aux produits naturels et de terroir. Les truffes sont un exemple pertinent de ces produits. Elles sont très diversifiées et offrent un potentiel de développement important. L’objectif de cette étude est de mettre l’accent sur l’importance de la filière de la truffe à travers une analyse SWOT (Forces, Faiblesses, Opportunités et Menaces) permettant d’identifier les points positifs à exploiter et les points négatifs à lutter contre afin d’assurer une valorisation adéquate. L’étude s’est appuyée sur une recherche documentaire, des entretiens avec les gestionnaires de la ressource, des prospections de terrains dans les zones productrices et des enquêtes avec les différents acteurs de la filière. Les résultats ont montré que la filière jouit d’un nombre important de points de force dont les plus importants sont la diversité des espèces et les grandes étendues de production; la contribution aux revenus des populations collectrices et le savoir-faire ancestral lié à l’activité de collecte. Les faiblesses concernent surtout la non-organisation et la non-réglementation de la filière qui font que le secteur soit anarchique. Quant aux opportunités, on note la forte demande pour les truffes par les marchés extérieurs et la forte volonté de développement de cette filière traduite par des stratégies qui s’intéressent aux produits de terroir. Et enfin pour les menaces, il s’agit surtout de la diminution des précipitations et la succession des années de sécheresse liées au changement climatique. A la lumière de cette analyse SWOT, des propositions de valorisation de la filière sont proposées dont la promulgation d’une loi spécifique à la truffe, la création d’un marché typique, l’orientation vers la trufficulture pour soulager la production naturelle et le développement de la recherche scientifique relative aux truffes. Truffles are a relevant example of such products. They are very diversified and offer significant development potential. The objective of this study is to emphasize the importance of the truffle sector through a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) to identify the positive points to exploit and the negative points to fight against in order to ensure adequate valuation. The study was based on literature search, interviews with resource managers, field surveys in the producing areas and surveys with the various actors in the sector. The results showed that the sector has a large number of strengths, the most important of which are the diversity of species and the large production areas; the contribution to the income of the collecting populations and the ancestral know-how linked to the collection activity. The weaknesses mainly concern the non-organization and the non-regulation of the sector which make it anarchic. As for the opportunities, we note the strong demand for truffles by export markets and the strong aspiration to develop this sector, reflected in strategies that focus on local products. And finally for the threats, they are mainly the decrease in rainfall and the succession of years of drought linked to climate change. In the light of this SWOT analysis, proposals for promoting the sector are proposed, including the promulgation of a law specific to truffles, the creation of a typical market, orientation towards truffle growing to relieve natural production and the development of scientific research relating to truffles. The Eastern Rif region suffers from increased degradation which threatens the sustainability of all its natural resources. However, no scientific and precise assessment data on degradation is available at this scale. For this, it was necessary to develop a model for evaluating this degradation, based on the application of the LADA/WOCAT method in order to better quantify the degradation at the level of the Eastern Rif and produce the necessary elements for decision support. Land degradation covers the entire Rif territory with different proportions depending on the type of degradation, of which water erosion ranks first with 81%. The spatial analysis was able to demonstrate that only 4% of the territory is occupied by sustainable land management practices, however traditional agricultural practices and localized effect land conservation practices which present the lowest level of effectiveness, cover 80 % of the territory. The most significant impact in the Eastern Rif is the impact on land productivity on 76% of the entire territory. This impact is driven by several direct and indirect causes, namely demographic pressure where the problem of poverty presents a high rate of around 70%, a problem of governance which affects 22% of the Rif territory and deforestation with 19%, which presents a serious problem especially in regions where cannabis cultivation takes place. However, and in order to preserve the land in the Eastern Rif, it will be wise to strengthen and train human capacities for action against land degradation while involving the native population in the development of more effective sustainable land management practices, durable in time and space. Cependant, aucune donnée d’évaluation scientifique et précise de la dégradation n’est disponible à cette échelle. Pour ce fait, il a fallu développer un modèle d’évaluation de cette dégradation, basé sur l’application de la méthode LADA/WOCAT afin de mieux quantifier la dégradation au niveau du Rif Oriental et produire les éléments nécessaires d’aide à la décision. La dégradation des terres couvre tout le territoire Rifain avec des proportions différentes selon le type de dégradation, dont l’érosion hydrique est au premier rang avec 81%. L’analyse spatiale a pu démontrer que seulement 4% du territoire est occupé par des pratiques de gestion durables des terres. Cependant, les pratiques agricoles traditionnelles et les pratiques de conservation des terres à effet localisé et qui présentent le plus faible niveau d’efficacité couvrent 80% du territoire. L’impact le plus marquant au niveau du Rif Oriental est celui sur la productivité des terres sur 76% de l’ensemble du territoire. Cet impact a pour force motrice plusieurs causes directes et indirectes, à savoir une pression démographique où le problème de pauvreté présente un taux élevé avoisinant les 70%, un problème de gouvernance qui touche 22% du territoire rifain et une déforestation de 19%, qui présente un sérieux problème, surtout dans les régions où la cannabiculture prend place. Cependant, et afin de préserver les terres au niveau du Rif Oriental, il serais judicieux de renforcer, voire former des capacités humaines en matière de lutte contre la dégradation des terres tout en impliquant la population autochtone au développement des pratiques de gestion durable des terres plus efficaces et durables dans le temps et dans l’espace. Truffles are an important natural resource for the rural economy in Morocco and can play an important role in relieving pressure on forest and pastoral resources. However, there is a lack of knowledge of their geographical distribution and as well as their productivity. A documentary analysis, field surveys, interviews and workshops with resource persons and forest and agricultural managers across the country have made it possible to draw up an inventory of existing species, their geographical distribution maps and productivity. Morocco has ten species of desert truffles of the genera Terfezia, Tirmania, Delastria, Picoa and Tuber, widespread in four main truffle areas: the forest of Maâmora, the Sahel of Doukkala-Abda, the North-East region and the Moroccan Sahara. Productivities are also variable between zones and within zones. They are influenced by the nature of the soil and the distribution of precipitation. The results obtained in cartographic form, a map of the geographical distribution of truffles and a productivity map, constitute a first step towards understanding the truffle potential and improving decision-making for the valuation of Moroccan truffles.  Keywords: Truffles, Desert truffles, Truffle areas, Oriental, Maâmora, Doukkala-Abda, Sahara, Morocco truffle, Les truffes constituent au Maroc une ressource naturelle importante pour l’économie rurale et peuvent jouer un rôle important dans l’allégement de la pression sur les ressources forestières et pastorales. Une analyse documentaire, des prospections de terrain, des interviews et des ateliers avec des personnes ressources et des gestionnaires forestiers et d’agriculture à l’échelle du pays ont permis la réalisation d’un inventaire des espèces existantes, de leurs cartes de répartition géographique et de productivité. Le Maroc compte une dizaine d’espèces des truffes de désert des genres Terfezia, Tirmania, Delastria, Picoa et Tuber, répandues dans quatre principales zones trufficoles : la région Nord-Est, la forêt de la Maâmora, le Sahel Doukkala-Abda et le Sahara marocain. Les productivités sont variables entre les zones et à l’intérieur des zones. Elles sont influencées par la nature des sols et la répartition des précipitations.  Les résultats obtenus sous forme cartographique, une carte de répartition géographique des truffes et une carte de productivité, constituent un premier pas vers la connaissance du potentiel truffier et l’amélioration de la prise de décision pour la valorisation des truffes marocaines. Scenarios serve science by testing the sensitivity of a system and/or society to adapt to the future. In this study, we present a new land use scenario methodology called ScenaLand. This methodology aims to develop plausible and contrasting land use and management (LUM) scenarios, useful to explore how LUM (e.g. soil and water conservation techniques) may affect ecosystem services under global change in a wide range of environments. ScenaLand is a method for constructing narrative and spatially explicit land use scenarios that are useful for end-users and impact modellers. This method is innovative because it merges literature and expert knowledge, and its low data requirement makes it easy to be implemented in the context of inter-site comparison, including global change projections. ScenaLand was developed and tested on six different Mediterranean agroecological and socioeconomic contexts during the MASCC research project (Mediterranean agricultural soil conservation under global change). The method first highlights the socioeconomic trends of each study site including emerging trends such as new government laws, LUM techniques through a qualitative survey addressed to local experts. Then, the method includes a ranking of driving factors, a matrix about land use evolution, and soil and water conservation techniques. ScenaLand also includes a framework to develop narratives along with two priority axes (contextualized to environmental protection vs. land productivity in this study). In the context of this research project, four contrasting scenarios are proposed: S1 (business-as-usual), S2 (market-oriented), S3 (environmental protection), and S4 (sustainable). Land use maps are then built with the creation of LUM allocation rules based on agroecological zoning. ScenaLand resulted in a robust and easy method to apply with the creation of 24 contrasted scenarios.
