Abstract

The advantage of various fuzzy normed spaces is to analyse impreciseness and ambiguity that arise in modelling problems. In this paper, various classical stabilities of a new hexic functional equation in di erent fuzzy spaces like fuzzy Banach space, Felbin’s fuzzy Banach space and intuitionistic fuzzy Banach space are presented, concerning the Ulam’s theory of stabilities of equations. To validate the stability results, experimental results are presented. Also, a comparative study of the results obtained in this investigation are provided.

Abstract

The population growth and the regular breakout of Nilaparvata lugens pose a significant risk to rice cultivation. Four different N. lugens biotypes have been identified worldwide, with biotype 4 being the most destructive and prevalent throughout Asia, particularly in India. Therefore, a rice variety with multiple resistance genes/alleles is required for effective management of N. lugens. Hence, 191 rice genotypes collected from various parts of India were evaluated for resistance to N. lugens. Further, SSR markers representing 23 different N. lugens resistant (R) genes were assayed to identify genomic regions associated with resistance. The results of the genetic analysis showed that the average genetic diversity value of all markers was 0.165 and polymorphic information content of 0.145 for all the markers used. The population structure and cluster analysis divided the studied genotypes into three distinct groups, with resistant genotypes grouped separately. These findings were confirmed by the principal coordinate analysis, which categorized resistant genotypes, moderately resistant genotypes, and susceptible genotypes into distinct components. Additionally, 90% of the genetic variation was between individuals of populations and 10% between the populations. Marker‐trait association study through mixed linear model and generalized linear model identified six SSR markers such as RM6732 (Bph15), RM314 (Bph6), RM16999 (Bph6), RM7 (QBph3), RM401 (bph4), and RM7102 (Bph1), which were significantly associated with various phenotypic parameters, such as feeding mark, honeydew excretion, percent damage and nymphal survival. Abstract

A study was conducted in the Odisha region of India to assess genetic parameters, heritability, and trait associations in twenty traditional pigmented and non-pigmented rice landraces. The evaluation focused on twenty-five physical, phytochemical, and antioxidant properties. The results showed potential for enhancing desired traits in pigmented rice due to a wide range of genotypic variation, high heritability, and substantial genetic advances. These improvements were particularly observed in characteristics such as porosity, total soluble sugar, phytochemicals, and antioxidant properties in pigmented rice. Additionally, properties like the length-breadth ratio of grains, thickness, diameter, thousand grain weight, and bulk density of grains can be used for trait improvement in non-pigmented rice. Physical attributes like thickness, grain weight, and porosity, as well as phytochemical traits like total soluble sugar and protein content, were notably higher in pigmented rice. Correlations between traits indicated that Pigmented rice was associated with phytochemical and antioxidant properties, while Nonpigmented rice was linked to amylose content, density, and the length-breadth ratio of grains. Two promising pigmented genotypes, Bodikaberi and Mahipaljeera, were identified and could be valuable for future rice breeding programs. Moreover, these genotypes have potential applications in the food industry for creating value-added products to enhance nutritional quality and could also be relevant to the cosmetic industry due to their superior antioxidant properties. Abstract

Brown planthopper, Nilaparvata lugens (Stål.) is one of the most ruinous pest of rice in south-east Asia. This insect had the tendency to express differential reaction to resistant rice cultivars and various insecticide groups in different geographic locations. Therefore, genetic diversity among the N. lugens populations is required to be understood for their effective management. Hence, in the present study, genetic structure and genetic diversity of 22 N. lugens populations collected from 22 hotspot regions of India were studied with genomic simple sequence repeats (NlSSR) markers. Results revealed that mean genetic diversity was 0.399 and polymorphic information content (PIC) was 0.337 in the 30 selected SSR markers. Further, molecular variance (AMOVA) revealed only 2% variation among population and 98% within the populations. In cluster and population structure analysis, all the 22 population were sub-grouped into three groups. Interestingly, north and west Indian population showed high genetic similarity and assembled into one cluster in cluster analysis. The east and south Indian populations were evenly segregated into rest two clusters. Similarly, north and west Indian population again deemed to be occupied same compartment in Principal coordinate analysis (PCoA). This variation might be associated with the N. lugens migration due to wind movement of south-west monsoon in two branches viz. Arabian sea branch and Bay of Bengal branch. Present study provides the molecular evidence of population genetics of N. lugens in India and the information could be useful to devise the efficient management strategy against this pest in different rice ecosystem.
