El proyecto de innovación docente “Desarrollo de una herramienta digital interactiva para asistir a la docencia en Fisioterapia” tiene como objetivo mejorar la enseñanza de la asignatura de Métodos en Fisioterapia Musculoesquelética, dirigida a estudiantes de tercer año del Grado en Fisioterapia. Este proyecto busca capacitar a los estudiantes en el diagnóstico y tratamiento del síndrome de dolor miofascial, una condición prevalente caracterizada por puntos gatillo miofasciales que provocan dolor referido y disfunción motora. La herramienta desarrollada es una aplicación digital interactiva denominada MyofAPPcial, compatible con dispositivos iOS y Android, que permite a los estudiantes dibujar y analizar patrones de dolor en diagramas de mapas corporales. La aplicación utiliza aprendizaje automático para comparar los patrones de dolor con una base de datos de imágenes, sugiriendo posibles ubicaciones de los puntos gatillo. El proyecto se estructuró en varios objetivos clave: desarrollo del software, evaluación de la percepción de los estudiantes mediante encuestas de usabilidad, y pruebas de conocimiento antes y después de la implementación de la herramienta. Los resultados mostraron una alta precisión en la identificación de puntos gatillo y una mejora significativa en la capacidad diagnóstica de los estudiantes tras el uso de la aplicación. Las encuestas revelaron una satisfacción general alta con la aplicación, destacando su utilidad, facilidad de uso y conveniencia. La implementación de MyofAPPcial en la docencia de fisioterapia no solo mejora las competencias diagnósticas y de razonamiento de los estudiantes, sino que también ofrece un enfoque interactivo y práctico que complementa la formación teórica. La aplicación ha demostrado ser una herramienta valiosa tanto en el ámbito educativo como en la práctica clínica, optimizando el tiempo y los recursos disponibles y mejorando los resultados en el tratamiento del síndrome de dolor miofascial.

Purpose: Neuropathy is the dose-limiting toxicity of paclitaxel and a major cause for decreased quality of life. Genetic factors have been shown to contribute to paclitaxel neuropathy susceptibility; however, the major causes for interindividual differences remain unexplained. In this study, we identified genetic markers associated with paclitaxel-induced neuropathy through massive sequencing of candidate genes. Experimental Design: We sequenced the coding region of 4 EPHA genes, 5 genes involved in paclitaxel pharmacokinetics, and 30 Charcot–Marie–Tooth genes, in 228 cancer patients with no/low neuropathy or high-grade neuropathy during paclitaxel treatment. An independent validation series included 202 paclitaxel-treated patients. Variation-/gene-based analyses were used to compare variant frequencies among neuropathy groups, and Cox regression models were used to analyze neuropathy along treatment. Results: Gene-based analysis identified EPHA6 as the gene most significantly associated with paclitaxel-induced neuropathy. Low-frequency nonsynonymous variants in EPHA6 were present exclusively in patients with high neuropathy, and all affected the ligand-binding domain of the protein. Accumulated dose analysis in the discovery series showed a significantly higher neuropathy risk for EPHA5/6/8 low-frequency nonsynonymous variant carriers [HR, 14.60; 95% confidence interval (CI), 2.33–91.62; P ¼ 0.0042], and an independent cohort confirmed an increased neuropathy risk (HR, 2.07; 95% CI, 1.14–3.77; P ¼ 0.017). Combining the series gave an estimated 2.5-fold higher risk of neuropathy (95% CI, 1.46–4.31; P ¼ 9.1 10 4). Conclusions: This first study sequencing EPHA genes revealed that low-frequency variants in EPHA6, EPHA5, and EPHA8 contribute to the susceptibility to paclitaxel-induced neuropathy. Background. Peripheral neuropathy is the dose-limiting toxicity of many oncology drugs, including paclitaxel. There is large interindividual variability in the neuropathy, and several risk factors have been proposed; however, many have not been replicated. Here we present a comprehensive study aimed at identifying treatment and physiopathology-related paclitaxel-induced neuropathy risk factors in a large cohort of well-characterized patients. Patients and Methods. Analyses included 503 patients with breast or ovarian cancer who received paclitaxel treatment. Paclitaxel dose modifications caused by the neuropathy were extracted from medical records and patients self-reported neuropathy symptoms were collected. Multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify concomitant medications and comorbidities associated with paclitaxel-induced neuropathy. Results. Older patients had higher neuropathy: for each increase of 1 year of age, the risk of dose modifications and grade 3 neuropathy increased 4% and 5%, respectively. Cardiovascular drugs increased the risk of paclitaxel dose reductions (odds ratio [OR], 2.51; p = .006), with a stronger association for beta-adrenergic antagonists. The total number of concomitant medications also showed an association with dose modifications (OR, 1.25; p = .012 for each concomitant drug increase). A dose modification predictive model that included the new identified factors gave an area under the curve of 0.74 (p = 1.07 × 10−10). Preexisting nerve compression syndromes seemed to increase neuropathy risk. Conclusion. Flavanols-rich cocoa has positive effects on lipid metabolism and might enhance the performance of athletes through an improvement in their body composition. To test this hypothesis a placebo-controlled intervention study in training endurance athletes who received 5 g of cocoa daily (425 mg of flavanols) for 10 weeks was performed. Dietary intake, body composition, exercise performance and plasma levels of follistatin, myostatin and leptin were measured. Cocoa intake significantly reduced body fat percentage (p = 0.020), specifically in the trunk (p = 0.022), visceral area (p = 0.034) and lower limbs (p = 0.004). The reduction in body fat mass was accompanied by an increase in plasma follistatin and a decrease in leptin, while myostatin levels remained unchanged. The intake of cocoa reduced the percentage of body fat of athletes, without any impact on athletes’ performance. En este proyecto se ha pretendido utilizar una metodología activa de aprendizaje mediante la resolución de casos clínicos o problemas en función del grado al que vaya dirigido. De esta forma se mejorara la motivación y satisfacción de los alumnos.

El proyecto CONTRIVE-UCM se basa en crear una herramienta digital en línea que permita transformar la gestión de la calidad e innovación dentro de la Facultad de Enfermería, Fisioterapia y Podología (FEFyP) hacia un modelo virtual, mediante la captación de ideas por parte de todo el personal del centro involucrando tanto docentes como estudiantes, con el fin de democratizar y mejorar la transparencia de los programas formativos, los procesos de calidad, a través de la participación activa en el uso de la herramienta digital como experiencia innovadora.
